There is nothing wrong with playing what you want if you're a casual or 4fun player. Not everything has to be about ranked/competitive. However, if you want to climb and see improvement/progress in the long run it is better to have a champion pool to set yourself up for success.

I love the part where you describe dodge as a positive/consistent method which requires game knowledge of identifying win condition. So many times I felt something off during champ select but forced myself into the game and lost in the way that I have imagined before the game started.

My pool is Diana, Lux and Syndra in the mid lane. Who would you suggest? Someone AD I suppose
I haven't watch the video but here's my champ pool: Akali, Kat, Ori, Azir, Lux, Syndra, Qiyana, Irelia and Seraphine, If they have tanky range teamcomp i would pick Kat and Seraphine, If they have melee tanky teamcomp I would pick Akali or Irelia, If our team lacks teamfight dps i would pick Orianna or Kat, If our team lacks cc i pick Lux or Sera, If they are mostly range i pick Sera or Lux, If they are mostly melee i would pick Azir, Akali or Irelia
U have like 4 Champs that do the same thing as each other = you don't learn matchups fast enough or master your champ due to how broad ur pool is

Are there alternatives for AD assassins?
Any AD champion will serve as a substitute like Lucian / Trist / Sett / but they won't be as optimal

META = Most Efficient Tactics Available. You can play what you want you just have to understand that you're playing on hard more for no reason = stress

Any champ that itemizes Liandrys will typically do well since they do consistent DPS and % hp

Thanks for the video Zianni! It was informative and I learned a lot from the video. I'd been playing jungle till s9 an I took a break so I'm relearning the game at the moment, and I want to learn mid. I was playing nidalee, graves, taliyah until I hit d4 in s9. I'm thinking of practicing Orianna for now, but I've never tried any mid ad assassins so far. I played lucian and corki if I were to play off role, but those are ranged. Are there any good ad/ap assasins to learn from scratch?

Is akali a solid pick for ap assasin? Bc iam maining qiyana or ahri would be a better choice?
Ahri is more consistent and would be a good blind pick champion. Akali is good tho

Hey man great video. I've been a zed OTP for about 5 seasons and am looking to start playing ranked more seriously so I want a proper champ pool. I was thinking of zed/vex and a control mage, either orianna or viktor...what do you think?

My pool consists of Ahri, Yone and Sylas, should I add a puremage like viktor or veigar ? Should we have like a 5th champ to play as offrole or something ?

Viktor or Veigar is good 👍 if you want to play AD secondary I would pick Veigar so you can offrole APC Veigar

Do burst mages/early game mages (Neeko and Zoe specifically in my case) fulfil a similar role to AP assassins in terms or champ pool coverage?
For the most part, yes! They aren't as consistent zoning wise to be 100% control mages but they have the mobility/burst to create plays easily which is the hallmark of an AP Assassin.
Is Ekko a good champ to have in your champ pool for low elo, even though he has little impact in the early game?
Ekko is pretty good, he's extremely overtuned for low elo

Hello, do u think Lux is a good control mage for low elo ? I mean she is easy to play, she has a lot of zoning ability ,damage and cc in teamfight. She reminds me of Vex but with more range.
Lux IMO is really bad right now as a former top 3 Lux player in NA. Her damage and mobility is too low to succeed in a tank meta with insane amounts of mobility. Vex at least has the ability to snowball and roam infinite at the cost of a little bit of range.
Lux is only playable if your team is ahead otherwise you just get one shot dived even if you're playing a disengage champ
I'm not good at any ad assassin's. I can play gp, yone, and Garen all very well in mid. Which would be the best for my pool. Currently g2/g1 if that makes a difference
As long as it's AD, it's fine but of course assassins will be more optimal due to their identity and success in Solo Q. Yone is an assassin technically

My pool consists of Katarina (main), Akali, Yone.
You may argue that Kat and Akali are the same type of champions, however, I have put so many hours into Akali across 3 seasons and have recently found Katarina to be my favourite champion in the game. Do you think it is worth picking up a 4th champ for a control-mage option? Or is my pool fine?
It would be worth adding a control mage but I would not go past four champs. Your champ pool is unique because you have really good early game but also really good scaling on your champs (cuz they're broken). You could just pick Veigar here as a 100% safe blind pick that also infinitely scales, otherwise Viktor for damage since that seems to be your playstyle.
I'm actually playing Ahri, Vex and Patheon... What would you suggest as a control mage from the one you suggested?
It's really just personal preference for playstyle, you seem to like roaming and engaging so maybe Predator Veigar

My champion pool is Aurelion/vex/Syndra and naafiri as a AD assassin but tbh I love AP varus. Is he considered an AP assassin since I can pretty much one shot every squishy champion ? Also is there any category I miss by playing these champions ?
(I know varus sucks atm but I’m doing pretty well at my plat elo so far and I really enjoy him)
I main Cassiopeia, what would you label her as? I have mostly only played her even to blind pick or picking her into unfavorable matchups but I can general win, but I get into situations where we get out comped because I don’t have a frontline or peel. So I want to diversify so I have something easier to blind pick or work Into free for all drafts. Recommendations?
She would be a control mage. So pick an AD + AP Assassin to make up for your lack of mobility and/or consistent match ups. Cassio is a pretty good champion but it usually just devolves to jungler diff if you want to take advantage of winning matchups as Cassio
@@Zianni so for AP assassins I generally go Diana, since my ahri and lissandra leave a bit to be desired. But I have trouble picking an ad assassin just because I can’t really find one that I click with. But I think I struggle with assassins in general because they’re melee. Do you feel it’s easier to climb with a champ pool than just being a OTP?
@@Sinnotic Ye I feel that a lot of people struggle with melees. Having a defined champ pool will make you a better mid laner, whereas being an OTP will make you better at the champ specifically. A lot of times OTPs get really high rank but doesn't understand their ROLE

i am very good at azir and feel good potential even vs tougher matchups like akali or yone is it even worth trying to broaden my pool? i feel like azir also itemizes pretty well building ludens, liandries, crown and even rod, as well as diff rune pages such as conq, comet, or HoB. so im unsure if its a big need to learn some other champs.

This is very insightful. I knew having a diverse champ pool for support was important, but didn't know it applied to mid as well. I'll hate having to learn an AD assassin though ): Would something like Fizz or Ekko be fine too, or is the AD part important?
Having split damage sources stops the enemy team from building armor and countering your ENTIRE team. It's just about making it hard for the enemy team to itemize easily
what do i do if i like to play orianna and viktor tho ? when do i pick which ?
They both do the same thing, Orianna just has more utility while Viktor does more damage. They're both control mages that scale so it's up to your preference on which is more fun.

@@pilupacurari3196 If you remove either assassin your draft is still suboptimal and you won't be able to play the game unless you're last pick. Viktor/Orianna blind are insta lose and AD assassins have volatile matchups
Just play 4 champs AD ASSASSIN / AP ASSASSIN / Viktor / Orianna
I'm considering Katarina as AD assassin but her most recommended build is AP. Is she still considered AD due to lots of melee attacking or would you recommend a more AD focused build in that case?
She has lots of variations like the Divine Sunderer / Nashors build
AP Kat recently has gotten multiple buffs since the AD variant has been too strong, but she's still good on eitehr build
@@Zianni So I suppose if I learn Kat I'd use her as both AD and AP assassin and just switch builds depending on what the team comp needs? I mean, if my team has lots of AP already, should I then choose an AD build at all times or is there ever a merit to go for an AP build on her when my team needs AD?
@@danielhughes3758 She'd be a flexible pick for sure. You'd build based on draft and what your team needs to succeed. If you force AP with 4 AP on your team they'll just stack MR for double value.

How do you tackle playing the secondary role? Currently my secondary role is support and I play Lux, or Morgana if Lux is taken, since her kit is very similar apart from the ult. Is that fine even though I don't play those champs in mid? Is the 3 champion tip mostly just for mid? I feel like having more champs in secondary role splits focus too much since it's a secondary role that I rarely play. Is an AD support also necessary you think?

Yes, lots of champions have multiple archetypes since they're designed to be frustrating lol

So what would a jungler's champ pool make up of? Would you still go one for every major class because than you get a pool of 6-8 depending on how you classify specialists like graves and Fiddlesticks, and I'm sure that not everyone has to play ivern to cover a support jungler right?
Junglers tend to just play meta more than any other role because you champion unfamiliarity is less punishing since farming camps is less demanding than laning against an enemy. But if you want to keep a small pool anyway then stick to 1 AD, 1 AP, and 1 Tank
