@COURTTV I can't get over the bit about MS having a 'night time' medication. (This specific med was probably Benadryl HOWEVER when SS was around did he perhaps substitute MS's typical med with another, stronger pill? Does he have any Rx history of Ambien, Xanax, etc refills at local pharmacies in OC or North Port? Did he arrive separately to MS's home because he said had to 'pick some things up at Walgreens'... like a Rx refill!?!?) Strange how he was at the party but she was dropped off @home by her aunt- arriving home before SS did... MAIN Q: Is there anyway to find out if MS is visibly AWAKE, CONSCIOUS in any of the CSAM recovered from SS's grim caché of pics & vids on his phone?
Perhaps on that night, specifically SS had been to 'eager' 🤮 to abuse MS after his long absence from the home (& Maddie) that he didn't wait long enough for the substitute 'night time' med to work. That could have resulted in being the 1st time that Maddie had FULLY & CONSCIOUSLY recognized IN REAL TIME what was really going on- The weight & terror of waking to find SS in the process of both pleasing himself & abusing her seems easy to conclude WAS A TOTAL UNWELCOME SURPRISE TO THE YOUNG GIRL because if the abuse has been something which was previously known to MS, if she had been 'groomed' to accept the abuse as 'love' or 'special' or 'regular' or 'routine' the MURDER would NOT have been (what we know now from the recently released LE docs) committed DURING THE ACT OF SEXUAL ABUSE.
IF SS thought MS was pregnant, or going to tell, or ...... he could have taken her hiking, fishing in a boat & staged an 'accident'
No, the fact that her murder happened DURING an act of abuse shows that MADDIE PANICKED and if she knew full well about the abuse - that it has been a pattern, a routine @ SS's hands FOR YEARS & YEARS she would never have PANICKED- However she panicked & probably tried screaming for help much so that this obviously sent SS into a PANIC that he in a split second decided that his only choice was to murder MS and figure out the rest, later.
I'm sure he'd had 'close calls' w MS while he had waited long enough for the 'special night time meds' to completely knock her out cold. But- although she may floated in & out of consciousness as he preyed on her lifeless body he had gotten used to her always quickly passing right back out, & then continuing his abuse with zero resistance or concern she would remember.
      Just a thought 💭

Of course it makes sense he would say that. His narcissistic toes can’t check the temperature of how far he can push his will… if he doesn’t leak a little truth into his humor.🤦🏻‍♀️Fact; it seems M’s too scared to tell anyone? Hypothetically, if I wrote this into a movie… (which I’m not) From a V’tms point of view… the kid’s rarely afraid for their own safety after a benefactor uses her. We feel like we should have “seen it coming” as if it’s a personal failure, in many cases. All he has to do is prove to her, he would hurt someone she loves or take something away she believes she needs. You have no idea how easy it is to be trapped into these circumstances. I grew up witnessing this over and over on the Wear coast. We even knew to stay away from the fancy black cars with no plates. Epstein years later… everyone’s surprised? How does THAT happen? That’s what I want to know.😢Why can’t you see us before it happens.😔

A girl isn’t going to come out and say she’s being SA’d by a trusted adult-she’s going to say he’s “weird” and makes her uncomfortable. This should have been a HUGE red flag.

Shocking that the counselor didn't zero in on that statement and use it to dig deeper for answers. Maddie would've been better off anywhere else, besides the place she stayed at. You can't really call it a home, because a home is where you feel safe.

FYI you pause and read the statement the counselor said “when pressed” she said it was because he ate all their food.
So it seems she did try to get her to elaborate but Madeline clammed up (which is to be expected. That’s a lot of weight for a little 12 year old to carry not knowing what would happen if she let it go. And who knows if this monster was threatening her if she told anyone.)

You gotta remember that Sterns has been around Jennifer & Maddie for about 7 years. Probably why Jennifer apparently trusted him so much, even suggesting they sleep somewhere else together (which I would NEVER had done...but Jennifer did). My opinion (and others) is that Maddie wanted to sleep with her mom because if she slept alone, Sterns would come over and he'd insist on s^x with her. That's why Maddie apparently preferred to sleep with Jennifer, if Jennifer insisted on Sterns being there also or not. If Jennifer was there, he couldn't S.A. Maddie. Poor girl.

As a childhood SA survivor you never tell the deepest darkest secret. The threats of harm seemed much worse than the abuse. They build trust with you then use it as a weapon to yield against you. The abuse is horrible and sickening, but the “consequences of telling anyone” (at least the way it’s conveyed) makes you more fearful than the actual abuse. It makes me so unbelievably sad, sick, and angry that no one was able to protect her!

@@NutsNBerries we need more courage?! Do you understand how out of touch and disgusting that sounds? My SA started when I was 5 years old! It didn’t end until I was almost a teenager! Have more courage? You mean I needed more courage when I had to throw away my bloody panties because I was so afraid I was going to get in trouble?! As a 6 year old, I should have had more courage that my mom was going to stop loving me and would give me up and I would never see my family again?! At 8 years old I told a teacher and she said it was a personal problem and she couldn’t help me?! As a 9 year old I should have had more courage to scream loud as he snuck in the shower and said he would slice me open with a razor?! You’re right! Why didn’t I think of that?!?! If you’ve never been abused (and I pray you haven’t been victim to it nor ever will be!) then you have NO IDEA what we go through! You have NO IDEA the fear and sickness that accompanies abuse!! I should have been braver when he was choking me and said how easy it would be for me to never wake up again! Why as a child should I be more responsible than the abuser?! I/We just want to survive and be protected! I pray that you reread your comment and really consider how you processed terror at 5 years old!! Of course I/we don’t want anyone else to be abused ever! But they steal our power, our voice, and tell us how worthless and disgusting we are and how no one will ever love us again!! That no one will ever believe me/us, they will call me/us a liar, and send me/us to orphanage and no one will want me/us because they will think I’m a liar!! Your comment is sooo misguided!!! Do you know how many years of counseling it takes to no longer blame yourself?! The amount of self loathing we feel is beyond what you can imagine!! Do you know horrible the PTSD is at night when you can’t wake up and get away from your abuser?! I still have nightmares!! The horrors that we live can’t be understood by others and I accept that, but please don’t EVER tell an abuse victim that they should be stronger, have more courage, to be more brave! We have lived through hell and managed to survive, and that’s miraculous! I still struggle speaking up for myself!!
Maddie didn’t need to be more braver or have more courage!! She needed a mom that protected her and didn’t send her abuser to go sleep in bed with her daughter!! Maddie deserved to be protected and loved! She deserved to have someone fight for her!! She deserved to have a happy childhood and not have her purity ripped away from her!! She deserved to sleep alone in a bed a night and not have a monster come slip beneath her sheets!! She deserved to feel safe in a house and not constantly looking over her shoulder! Do you know how many times her skin crawled as she felt him looking towards her?! Do you know how many times she crawled in a shower and bawled as she tried to scrub the smell of him off her and stem the blood that flowed down her legs from being torn?!?! Is this graphic?! Yes it is! But it’s the truth!! So please, before you post a response please think and consider what you say because your words carry more weight than you will ever know!! Victims have worked for years and decades to be able to function and not blame ourselves!! I pray this shines some light on what we have to overcome to even begin healing!!!

Not necessarily. People can make people feel uncomfortable for a variety of reasons. A child could just be saying that because they are jealous that mom or dad’s partner is taking time and attention away from them. The person could be mean, or just really quiet and that could make you uncomfortable. They could have an intimidating presence and that can make you feel uneasy. It’s not fair to blame the guidance counselor. Perhaps they could’ve asked her more questions but at the end of the day, they can only do so much with a statement like that. Victims are often groomed into silence using fear tactics. Abusers will say things like, “your mom will get mad at you”. “You will have no where to live”. “Your dad won’t love you anymore” or “people will blame you!”. “I’ll get arrested and put in jail., I don’t think Madeline ever would have told a school guidance counselor; sadly

Why oh why did they think a 13 year old needs to be “put” to bed? And even worse by the monster. And even more appalling to go to bed with him. Unbelievable!! Mom prioritized her own sleep and likely used sleep aids that’s why she wasn’t aware of what was going on. But I think deep down she knew!!! How do you send a grown man to sleep with your child? I’ll never understand as a mother of a 13 year old daughter myself.

I was afraid to tell anyone because he always said I would get in trouble. I didn't have the ability to see that he was 100% at fault and not me. It eventually came to light when I skipped my period and had a pregnancy scare. I don't know how to encourage a child to be more honest about things like this, but please please PLEASE listen to children when they you someone is making them uncomfortable. Ask more questions, but in a kind way. Dont let your fear scare them into thinking they said something wrong. Never let them around that person again. You may think that sounds extreme, but children don't just say these things at random. Poor Madeline. 😢

Same my first memory was of 8 yrs old. I finally spoke up at 14. That's how long he silenced me, when I began my first relationship at 14 and realized he was jealous and got more controlling of my whereabouts, is when I reported and only after a school assembly with detectives warning children about abuse. I seriously felt like the detective was telling my story. I then realized for the first time. I was not alone, and I told my best friend who made me report it to my Dad. The relief I felt after telling and just knowing no more, it will now stop. Unfortunately, he was arrested and charges were dropped shorly after by my Dad because my sister threatened my Dad with his secret... Sister / family did not believe me and blamed me for not saying anything to them. Shameful just Shameful. I was kept away from him for 4 yrs but family acted as if nothing ever happened. I got my justice, 4 yrs later he lost his eyesight, got toes amputated. I forgave my family because I loved them although they did not protect me. It's heartbreaking... when I think of Maddie... I did not suffer as much as she did. I am a survivor. Justice for Maddie💚

@franceskonwai823 I am so so sorry your family wasn't there for you. I experienced the same. No one wanted to believe me because my sister's husband was "the funny guy." Everyone liked him. I was called a liar by everyone in my family. My mom offered to pay for him to take a lie detector test to prove his innocence. He, of course, refused. I spoke up and said I would take it. My family was shocked and threatened me that I better not be wasting everyone's time and money (those tests are not cheap and my mom was not well off). I did it anyway. The man who ran the test said it was the strongest positive response he had ever seen, and he had no doubt I was being honest. It took all of that for my mom and others in my family to finally believe me. But my sister didn't. She refused to believe the truth. She told my mom the only way she was going to see her grandchildren was if I was locked in my room when they (my sister and her husband who raped me) visited. And my mother complied. Every holiday I spent locked away in my room. Thanksgiving meals were brought to my room like a prisoner being brought a food tray. I spent Christmases alone locked in my room, same with food being brought to my room. I was the one who was shunned, not the child molester. I am now 36 years old and I still struggle with finding how to forgive my family for this. I love my mother, but I'll never understand why she chose to allow this man in our home for so many years while locking me away like a prisoner. It still hurts, but it's gotten significantly better as time has moved on.

You have to look at things in the context at the time, not with the hindsight we all have now that everything has come out. They are Hispanic and we typically don’t even let our children stay the night away from home or around strangers. Grandparents are usually very involved and even more likely to be strict with rules. I do find it odd the grandfather knew Sterns lived there and would be in the room with them for long periods of time… very unusual but that grandmother and the aunt seemed to sense something was off right away. I think Jen was covering the situation up from them hoping Madi would show back up and she wouldn’t have to admit he took her to school that day.

The fact she mentioned anything about SS to the counselor was a plea for help! That counselor failed her by not making her feel safe and asking more detailed questions!

why would she tell? her own mother sent her to sleep in the same room with him 🤢 parents are to protect their children and she does NOT seem like the type of mother that would believe or protect her child. she was FAILED in so many ways! all of those signs are clear signs that something is really wrong with that dynamic, and a reasonable person wouldn't have allowed the things her mother allowed, smdh

She would believe her. She just wouldn't do anything about it.

Madeline’s Mom should be charged exactly the same as the POS she allowed to be around her child!
