Matt, this is one of the best golf improvement videos I have ever watched. Many thanks to Guy Hindle. I will definitely remember this video for my future rounds.
Matt, this video with Guy was terrific. For a 7 H/C the approach to how you play a course is something I'm going to take on in my game and hopefully bring me down to the next level. Thanks Mate.
These are some of the best video you do Matt. Seeing you just give every shot an extra thought, and really plan your next shot. That is something all of us golfers can take away from this video. Such a fantastic video! Thank you.
Absolutely brilliant idea for a video. I've shared this with all my golfing friends. Only video I've ever seen where the focus is entirely on the mental aspect of the game, and there are so many important, valuable tips to take to the course. The biggest takeaway - not ONCE was there a thought mentioned about a "swing thought", i.e. a mechanic within your swing. As a higher handicapper, I think forgetting those swing thoughts and focusing on the shot ahead is the hardest thing to do. Excellent video!
Matt, on the second Guy talks about knowing your ability and hitting your shot, as opposed to the risky one. I've heard another instructor from here in Australia coach a similar thing but calls it the seven out of ten shot. That being a shot you could achieve 7 times (at least) outof every 10 times you tried it. Great advice from both
Great vid, Matt. Lots of life advice here too. Obstacle. Plan. Visualize. Commit. Execute. Play the shot in front of you. Not the last one or a future one. Awesome!
I’ve known Guy for give or take 10 years, he’s always been a great golfer but as you can see on this video, his calming influence coupled with his golfing experience really gives you that psychological focus - well worth getting in touch with him!!
The best book ive ever read about golf is called " The inner game of golf". Largely forgotten now, but still relevant and many of these trainers use its technique in varying forms. Excellent video, fascinating.
Brilliant video. I struggle as a higher handicapper but listening to this and watching you go thru your pre-shot routine and IMPORTANTLY listening to only the positive thoughts, Im looking forward to trying this my in next round. Cheers
This may be the best golf-related video I've ever seen. So much of this goes on in my head. This is fantastic. Thank you so much for having Guy on your channel.
A great watch this. I think some of my playing partners think I’m crazy whilst I continually talk to myself about where I am hitting and arguing with myself about club selection but it does work (most of the time). The point is it focuses you on your game.
Matt, this was an awesome video and it is a pity that more of these are not done. Guy Hindle gave excellent tips. As a high handicapper with shots that fade, I find myself thinking more about not fading them too badly rather that where the shots should land and what will I do next. Please continue to make these kinds of video with golf as a mind game because it is very helpful.
Very interesting video for a high handicap player like me. I need to think more about my shots but not over think them. I learned a lot from this . Thanks Matt
Live in Sheffield and although I'm a member at sickleholme golf club in the peak District (stunning views) I've played hallamshire many times. It's always a tough test for any level of player. Loved the video and glad you enjoyed the course
I always follow a birdie with a bogey cos I switch off. After making your eagle and then being told to concentrate again is something I never do. Very informative video
One of the best golf you tube vids I have ever seen great content well done!! Just shows technique and skill are important but so is the madness that occurs between your ears under pressure. Enlightening, helpful and pure class great !!
Well done Matt that was very interesting to watch I was able to get a lot of useful information from that would love to see more of that thanks mate keep up the amazing work 🇬🇸from down under
A fantastic video, I will use so much of what is in this video in my own game. What Guy was saying throughout, is basically just common sense, however when you're on the course, that goes out of the window. A really useful video Matt.
Guy is a legend matt and lovely bloke too..he organizes our police national golf comps every year..and like u said a cracking golfer also 👌👌👌good to see him on here and a great video with u both and guys advice..will use that in this afternoons stab comp 😉
Great video, Matt. The thing about club selection and ego effects us all. I am going to test this out on the course today and not take my usual club when I know there are issues on some holes, and instead play to avoid them. I shall report back!
I've watched this through a couple of times and I have to echo so many others on here when they say it's one of the best game improvement videos I've seen. My game's going through a bit of a crisis period at the moment so I've tended to keep away from You Tube as I don't want to overcomplicate things or give myself too many good ideas all at once! 😏But in my last golf lesson the pro and I had done quite a bit of talking. He was encouraging me to 'be my own caddy'; bit of a cliche I guess, but seemed like a good idea at the right time. The dialogue between you and Guy was the perfect illustration of this for me. I found I could take that straight to the course and it really helped. I won't mention the quad bogey on 17🙄 , but 5 pars vg for me and the 8 iron I hit into the heart of the 9th green was straight out of the video. Really surprised myself. Thanks to you and Guy for a very natural and incredibly helpful video.
I imagine some of the characteristics of a great youtuber, make being a great golfer more difficult. Emotionally expresive and honest is great for performance on youtube, but less so on the course. Great video. i need a psychologist to follow me around the course. Seems like that should always be an option at the clubhouse. Nine holes, with a pull cart and a behavioral therapist.
you have the most consistently brilliant and thoughtful and considerate golf content on youtube .....always immensely appreciated ...just curious if i missed the video you mentioned recently that you have done with some amateurs ? im subscribed but dont always get the notifications (and yes i have clicked the bell it just doesnt work)
Probably my favourite vlog of yours Matt. Loved the insights and thoughts of a better golfer goes through. Can't wait to try some of this positivity in my next round 🏌♂️
Absolutely brilliant content. This highlights the thinking game is as important as anything. Great snippets from Guy . Wonder how he would do with a mid handicapper .
Excellent video, thank you! I loved the insights, thought process and attention to detail before every shot. I'll definitely take this knowledge to the course on my next round!
Love this video Matt. Like many golfers I struggle (currently more then I would like) with the 15th club that 6 inch one between my ears!! (Not the 6" club you were thinking, eh?!!)
Really enjoyed that Matt wish I could have a person like Guy with me all the time I'm sure I would shave at least 3-4 shots off my handicap, will be sure to keep his advise in mind next time I play, cheers mate.
What a great insight to a mind game, definitely going to try to see more of the shot im going to take one at a time and try not to think to much over the ball. Keep these coming matt, great content 👌👍⛳
Thank you MATT & GUY for the lovely video ..Definately I will use the advices of Guy recommended to Matt during play ...Cheers from Canada East Coast !!
So much great advice in this dude :) Watched a chipping lesson on Rick's channel earlier, now the the mental exercises to make myself much more confident :) Love it :) Nice 1 fella's :) On to the course tomorrow i go :)
Excellent video. Most of what was said was in my humble opinion common sense. Unfortunately we let egos and ability cloud our judgement. Would like to see more like this. Keep up the good work
Very interesting, great very, it's just trying to apply this to my game, as my issue is I don't know my bad shot it could be anything. So just commit I guess.
2:45, reminds of a saying " The body follows the mind". 30:50 .. club got caught in rough = de-lofted hook. Second shot held off = added loft hit branch.
Would love to play a round with Guy. Or maybe you could do a video where you both play and see his thoughts over his own shots too! Very interesting to see that. None of us want to air on the side of caution much in golf not until we're nearly forced to but i reckon Guy does it way more by choice Loved that Matt thanks and well played
I've noticed a lot of players benefit just from talking through the shot before they hit it, and really that''s all he's asking you to do. What is a good shot from here? What club do you need to use to hit it? What line do you take to hit it?
Very good video cause we really got to see how enable you were to do the right things there a few times even when put into ur mind ever so slightly.... why EVER take that long iron out of the rough for a "maybe" birdie BUT also a "maybe" lost ball when u got the 100% maybe birdie laying up? = EGO brick wall! And why Driver on the last to get to flop wedge when almost any other club would get u a simple full shot in there with one of ur wedges.... ur better than this ... much .... loved the video and i HOPE you watch yourself a few times and notice how u pushed the right things away cause u had an "ego" plan all of a sudden u didn't have the whole round before at all ... ;)))))
Great video, thanks - probably your best so far! The mental game is so important - I recommend The Inner Game of Golf by W. Timothy Galwey. It covers a lot of similar stuff and (IMHO) is a real game changer
I do all of these things, have an impeccable preshot routine, can hit any shot in all nine windows, always execute and can barely break 80. I am the worlds best worst golfer and no psycology or strategy can help me.
Matt how do you deal with slow play in front of you ? Slow play the last few years is worse than ive ever known and is really affecting the game. Most shots feel like your first shot of the day .
His advice after the eagle was very important: The feeling you have after an eagle (or birdie for that matter) can be just as harmful as the feeling you have after a double-bogey. The great football managers like Brian Clough, Alex Ferguson, and Bob Paisley all knew this: Win the title? Right, throw those medals in the bin lads... Focus on next season now...
What's so funny, is you listened to Guy for 7 holes and were 2 under, having only hit your driver once. Holes 8 + 9, all that advice went unheeded, 2 bogies. Always play the percentages.
Matt, this is one of the best golf improvement videos I have ever watched. Many thanks to Guy Hindle. I will definitely remember this video for my future rounds.
totally agree !
Matt, this video with Guy was terrific. For a 7 H/C the approach to how you play a course is something I'm going to take on in my game and hopefully bring me down to the next level. Thanks Mate.
Phenomenal idea bringing out a sports psychologist!!! Everyone else brings the "greatest this" or "youtubes best that." Hats off
Brilliant video. The mental game, commitment to the plan, talking your way through the shot, love it. Great video Matt.
These are some of the best video you do Matt. Seeing you just give every shot an extra thought, and really plan your next shot. That is something all of us golfers can take away from this video. Such a fantastic video! Thank you.

Fab video! For me it confirms a lot of what I used to talk to my player about as a caddie.
This may be the best golf-related video I've ever seen. So much of this goes on in my head. This is fantastic. Thank you so much for having Guy on your channel.

Good Video Matt. Lots of good course management, information both for the player and the player playing a course to the best of his ability.

For me and I think I've said it before. Play the percentages first and capabilities. Thanks Matt
Great content Matt. I’ve just read a book on the psychology of golf and it was great to hear reinforcing comments that align to the book content. 👍🏻🇦🇺
What a great insight to a mind game, definitely going to try to see more of the shot im going to take one at a time and try not to think to much over the ball. Keep these coming matt, great content 👌👍⛳
Always good getting guys advice on your videos. Will help a lot of players
Thank you MATT & GUY for the lovely video ..Definately I will use the advices of Guy recommended to Matt during play ...Cheers from Canada East Coast !!
great show. Like to see how your thought process works. Very helpful.
Really great stuff MATT & GUY! Lots to learn from it, but most important for me: go for clarity! Thanks and best regards from The Netherlands
So much great advice in this dude :) Watched a chipping lesson on Rick's channel earlier, now the the mental exercises to make myself much more confident :) Love it :) Nice 1 fella's :) On to the course tomorrow i go :)
Fantastic video, great advice from Guy and a great watch
Great video I’ve loved the pointers from Guy.
Matt that was awesome, better than any swing tips for lowering your handicap.
Excellent video. Most of what was said was in my humble opinion common sense. Unfortunately we let egos and ability cloud our judgement. Would like to see more like this. Keep up the good work
Really good content, will try and put some these ideas into play the next time I play.
Very informative video looking forward to seeing more
Brilliant video Matt, I think psychologically I leave 5/6 shots out there! Its amazing the power of the mind and swing thoughts!!!
Great video, tx Matt. Some real takeouts to use here. Awesome stuff!
Really great stuff. Thanks for sharing!
What a superb video. Very, very interesting. Well done
One of the best golf RUclips videos. Not enough quality course management videos.
Great video. I've always known golf was mostly in the head. I just need to keep my head on the course
Very interesting way to look at it for average golfers. Will give this a propper try
Great content - so much of the game is what goes on between the ears!
Cheers
Really enjoyed that, can’t wait to put it into practice 🤞
That was very good. something any player can use. Great content there Matt
Mr. Matthew boy howdy That was fantastic fun thanks for this perspective! Cheers
Really informative, thanks
Would love to play a round with Guy. Or maybe you could do a video where you both play and see his thoughts over his own shots too! Very interesting to see that. None of us want to air on the side of caution much in golf not until we're nearly forced to but i reckon Guy does it way more by choice
Loved that Matt thanks and well played
Well done great video, your man was & is Excellent
Worked with Guy for a number of years in Winsford! Top GUY!
Brilliant. Great video!
I've noticed a lot of players benefit just from talking through the shot before they hit it, and really that''s all he's asking you to do. What is a good shot from here? What club do you need to use to hit it? What line do you take to hit it?
Great advice on the 6th.
Great video this one, loved that
One of your best videos.
Amazing content. Great job!
Best video you have put out
Gold dust- so much of the game is played in the head. Thank you!
Great video. I took a lot from that.
I have a two day golf weekend in a few days. Would you mind if I can have him on my bag please please please 😂😂😂😂
Fabulous hoodie
I bet he was spitting tacks after that 6 iron from the rough ! Honestly Matt tut tut !
Thanks Matt you have saved me from another trip to the psychologist 😂😂😂
Great video
Great video, thanks - probably your best so far! The mental game is so important - I recommend The Inner Game of Golf by W. Timothy Galwey. It covers a lot of similar stuff and (IMHO) is a real game changer
I'll concur with most comments here, very good and I will take a lot from this. Thanks guys.
Higher handicaps are very aware of their capabilities but they just want to make a birdie and can’t make a birdie by laying up. 😂
🔥🔥🔥
I do all of these things, have an impeccable preshot routine, can hit any shot in all nine windows, always execute and can barely break 80. I am the worlds best worst golfer and no psycology or strategy can help me.
Matt how do you deal with slow play in front of you ? Slow play the last few years is worse than ive ever known and is really affecting the game. Most shots feel like your first shot of the day .

The great football managers like Brian Clough, Alex Ferguson, and Bob Paisley all knew this: Win the title? Right, throw those medals in the bin lads... Focus on next season now...
Hole 2 would have to be the shortest par 5 ever ?
It is so trough that the most difficult distance in golf is only 6 inches. The space between your ears...whatever hcp you have
Fighting for par... 18 handicapper
Hit aggressive shots to conservative targets is my game.
Has anybody tried golf hypnosis ???
Could have left that driver in the bag and played the same shot you did on the first par 5. Mistake learned 😅
95% of all golfers don't think of this. We have to play golf between our ears, thats the best way to lower the score
If he was following me for a full round, he would need his own psychologist.
What's so funny, is you listened to Guy for 7 holes and were 2 under, having only hit your driver once. Holes 8 + 9, all that advice went unheeded, 2 bogies. Always play the percentages.
Let’s have a Matt vs guy match
hello
Great video, but the plan and visualization often differs radically from reality! 😢
413 yard par 5?!?!?
...and 433?!? I bet we all wish we could play par 5's like that
433 yard par 5 😂
I'm First today 😜to check the video
