I took up golf in my thirties, took some lessons, changed equipment, read Hogan's book, read Golf Digest etc. I was shooting about 120 on a good day. I was at a golf store in Los Angeles, and they had a Lee Travino VHS tape-I forget the title-. When I got back home, I put it in our VHS player and watched it. He took the mystery out of every shot and even went over putting. My score immediately dropped to the eighties. Family and career took over my golf got cut short and I found myself, over the next 30 years, playing golf once a year or so at the company's annual golf tournament. Occasionally taking a client out on a golf outing. My wife always warned me to let them win. Now I am retired and still playing, more importantly still practicing. Doing the drills I learned from Mr. Travino. I lost the VHS tape from moving over the years but the fundamentals are still there, and this video is a reminder of his excellent approach to teaching. Glad to see he is sill going strong.
This has been one of my absolute favorite videos. I've always told people that Lee Trevino is the one person I would love to spend at least half a day with. A round of golf and lunch just to enjoy conversation with this amazing guy. Bless you Mr. Trevino for what input you have put into the game of golf and the stories with wisdom you have left upon those who can't help but listen. 🙏🏿 Speedy recovery on your upcoming knee replacement.
This is fantastic! Thank you for this! Trevino is an American hero! National Treasure! I wish we could get one more golf/life book out of him. You won the internet today!
I was at a pretty big outing this summer and Mr Trevino was the host. He gave a 30 minute "lesson" on the range and then when we got to the par 3 that he was at he gave another. He was magical, had an aura, had so many guys eating out of the palm of his hands.
I’ve had the pleasure of conducting a 3 day golf school and have dinner every night with him . I also was blessed playing a round with him a couple of years later . Time with him was absolutely precious. The stories he would tell in private were unbelievable. He’s a true legend. They need him back as a tv commentator these guys today need to learn how it’s done. Thank you for this!
That was a pleasure to watch. I just sit in envy of all the lucky members at Royal oaks that get to listen and watch that on a daily basis. Mr Trevino is a champion for the American dream. Hard work does pay off. Especially when the talent is also present. Cheers everyone.
My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Trevino after a round of golf when he was still playing and sharing a conversation about life, eating, and of course golf. He was the most entertaining and fun guy. It shocked us when he saw us the next day and remembered our conversation and our names. He was so nice and gentlemanly. I try to watch every video he's in because he can teach all of us a thing or two about this great game. Thank you Lee, you're the best.
Lee Trevino has been my favorite player for 55 yrs. I could watch him for hours… He loves to talk, and he’s well worth listening to. I used to have a repair shop in my basement and I had one of those life sized cardboard cut outs of Lee back when he played for Top Flite. My wife made me get rid of it because she’d go down into the basement and that cutout looked like a real person and would startle her every time. LOL Amazing how he can still stand there hitting balls for so long at 85 yrs old. God bless him…
I happened onto this episode by accident. I don't know exactly how long it lasted but I will never forget it. What a gem. Worth it's weight in GOLD. Probably the greatest tactician and one of the 3 greatest golfers of all time!
Nicklaus said he was one of the best ball strikers along with Ben Hogan and George Knudson. He may be 85 , but his lucidity and enthusiasm for the game is something to behold, and a real lesson for anyone. My heroes are leaving this world one by one.
Lee Trevino is a National Treasure! Thank you for making this video. Very much enjoyed watching Lee make everything look so easy. “I can hardly wait to get up in the morning to hear what I’m going to say!” Fantastic!
What a great video. It was like getting a private lesson from one of the greatest players of all time. Lee Trevino is one of the greatest minds in the history of golf. His knowledge of the game and how to actually hit the ball is unparalleled in this day, age and this time. Absolutely one of the greatest ball strikers ever. Whenever I have trouble with my short game, I watch a video of him coaching you on how to hit the short game shots and hold the left hand and swing through the ball. Thank you for all the memories Lee!!!
Watched him in the flesh back in the early 80's here in the UK. Such control of the ball and the crispness of strike, unbelievable. Talking right up until he hit it and addressing his driver way out on the toe, he hit flat piercing bullets.
Absolutely loved spending 35 minutes with Lee!. Just the sound alone of his contact is worth the time. And to hear his wisdom … “every shot has a purpose”, “go left by catching the fly”, sim the club at first base by make it rotate to second”… thank you for sharing a real gem!
I love his honesty, very refreshing. Loved Lee when I was a kid, he was my golf swing hero. I still take it back on the outside a drop it on the inside. Still no golf injuries. Lee is a genius. I hope I'm that active at 85 years old.
Love him now that he's 85 but always have. Back then Lee was the "underdog", it took a while to realize he never was, we just didn't know it at the time. So good!
Great fun too see and hear Lee talking. Bought back memories,I walked once 18 holes with Lee Trevino, Kings Norton GC England. Benson and Hegdes Tournament.
Man lee’s story reminds me so much of myself I was 27 when I picked up a golf club for the first time but as soon as I picked it up within the first five strikes, I peered one and I was an addict since my high school friends all played in high school and we’re pretty decent. I get with them on the weekends and I cook them, I also have been only practicing on my spare time off and I only practice in my pasture. I really don’t go to the course when I go to the course I damn near shoot for par on every course if not one or two over I’m also a short Mexican lol i’m too poor to go to golf courses, but I do have at least one or two weekends out the month I get with my friends. Also, my choice of clubs are some old McGregor blades from the 90s for some reason I like to think I’m pretty good with those they work for me. The only thing I lack is a confidence and entering a tournament and actually competing against other players instead of just my friends but that’s what I’m trying to do this year. I will be almost 30 and I think I do have what it takes to become an amateur possibly a pro With a little support.
Lee Trevino was my fav when he played competitively. Also, his story about crossing over to heaven after being hit by lighting has been an inspiration for me. Just an amazing man.
Lee's a National Treasure. My older son and I followed him for 9 holes at a Sr. event in the mid 90's in Long Island. He's a magician how he worked the ball around that course. at the chipping area before he teed off, 20-30 people standing around, i asked him if he was using a 60 deg lob wedge, he turned to me and said " i don't carry one of those i just open up my 56 like this !" got a few laughs out of the crowd.
People like myself tend to over complicate the swing and end of over rotating the club to hit inconsistent shots. Best iron shots I’ve hit involved little to no rotation after impact. Amazing how Trevino can give simple analogies like that bug scenario to get people to make/ feel/ execute that when hitting a shot.
I knew what he meant about the punch-out shot when you are on the right and trees in the way. It is a very difficult shot for so many reasons. Lee is gold!

What a pleasue to watch a master at his craft!!!
Great job. Met Lee at a First Tee Sacramento charity tourney a few years ago, and he was the same funny, knowledgeable guy. 85? Unbelievable.
Every time Mr. Trevino speaks I feel blessed to hear it.
I love that man
Wow, thank god people are still making Trevino videos and he is still alive.
He's so cool. Golf from that era was so much more interesting and the personalities were so different and vibrant! Today's golfers are like robots
Lee is a national treasure to be appreciated and protected.
100%. Just fun to listen too and makes golf seem so simple. If only I had 2 hrs a day to hit balls!!
Best 30 minutes I have ever watched!!!

Simply put. Trevino is the best story in golf. Rags to riches.
The shout out he gave to Mac O'grady was unexpected but lovely.
Mac is the goat🐐
"Did you always love golf?"
"Well, it's all I know. I don't have a choice. I don't have no options."
There's something profound in there that I like.
I hardly ever comment on anything but he had a lot of nuggets of knowledge in that video. I will have a notepad the next time I watch it.
Can't think of a video I've clicked on faster. Thank you Mr. Trevino, the absolute legend. (Keep making this series, all of these have been so good!)
