Binns!! Amazing to see the hustle and bustle of King St, compared to now. Heartbreaking to watch the town centre wither, full of charity shops or discount stores. The dearth of a nation, online shopping and closure of heavy industry. What next?😦
@@southshields49 i was a teenager living in Shields mid 80's. Me and my friends walking up and down King St to see and be seen. So buzzy, great shops bars, nighclubs. So sad to see empty shops, closed down, gone under. The North Sea is the colour of the Agean but at what cost, no industry, no ship yards, the only jobs are to be employed by the government. Very little new enterprise or entrepreneurs. Really heartbreaking to see
Yes. Things do change. To think some of my father's family moved to the NE from Lincs about 1874 because things were booming up there with coal etc... and now my siblings and I - all of us left for work and settled in London, other parts of the SE.
That's my Granda leading the Boys Brigade, 15th Company from the Bethesda church
Last saw Jimmy Farthing Good Friday Easter 1968. "You still owe me a tea yah bugger !!" :)

@@killjoyride913 I have to agree with you, not much left except a nice coastline unfortunately.

I thought there might be something that would help to date it. Well spotted.
