Thanks a lot for watching and safe journeys!
Sri Lanka might be the best country for travelling. It's compact but it has everything you would want to see and experience. Culture, nature and wildlife, beach scene, highlands and mountains, very good food, safety and really friendly people. I would stay for one more week or so, just to see Kandy, the cultural triangle and some NP for wildlife.
you are correct and i thank you for admiring my country
It looks like a very beautiful island! I am very intrigued by Sri Lanka now.. definitely thinking about making a trip out there sometime.
Exactly!!
We had a great time in Sri Lanka and Ella is very beautiful. Much greetings to our friends in Sri Lanka and wish you and the people in Sri Lanka a good year 2024 🎉🕊️🇱🇰❤️
Just came back from Sri Lanka a couple of weeks ago and I already cannot wait to go back! This one brings up so many memories 😊
Happy holidays, mate! 🎉
Tank you very much. come again .Warmly welcome
Sorry you're missing the climb up Sigiriya. It's probably the most spectacular attraction in the country. The historical story coupled with nature and ancient engineering. Next time!
to me, it's the whole point of going to Sri Lanka! this is disappointing.
I stayed just on the opposite side of the train track, Sri Lanka is definitely one of my favourite countries I have visited.
The trek up to Ella rock is definitely worth it for the amazing views !
and yes you definitely need to visit sigiriya you will love it !
Loved the India/Sri Lanka series. Brilliant 👏
Great, glad to hear it.
Where the trains are slow, the smiles are wide, and the tea is strong enough to fuel a monsoon. My friends who have visited this country asked me to come for the adventure, stay for the serenity. I just hope that one of these days, my travel dart would literally land in this country and see what Sri Lanka awaits.
I wish us indians kept our surroundings as clean as the srilankans.
Another thing srilankans have in common with south indians.
Srilanka is stunning.
I was surprised Gabe hadn't already visited there.
Amd im sure he'll return.
What a year of great travel locations. Have been entertained and educated throughout your travels around Europe, including the Mediterranean, the Middle East and Asia. You showed countries that were off the beaten track and it has been a great ride. You definitely deserve a well earned break. Loved your videos of India (especially the Himalayas) and Sri Lanka. Wishing you and all the best for 2024. Cheers 🥂🎉😊
Excellent, glad to hear it. Thanks for watching, cheers. 🍺
@6.30 in Sinhala name is "Mugatiya"(it is a Mongoose) .Mugatiyas and Monitor Lizards keep snake population controlled . Mugatiyas famous in Sri Lanka as enemies of Cobras. There are many folk lores about that too
19 months straight so far for me! Taken a few small breaks where I get an airbnb somewhere for a month to settle in and relax.
Crazy cool. How many countries have you visited in that time?
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Oh boy, math. 30 I think. 23 this year. 7 last year I think.
I spent a couple months in Spain and Portugal, a month in italy, 5 months in the balkans, 4 months in East Africa and Egypt, a month in the UK, 2 months in the Baltics, 2 months in the Caucuses, 2 months in Central Asia and now in south-east asia / China. Something like that. What a long strange trip its been.
Right on, sounds amazing.
Learned so much from all your videos but this video learned much more than normal. Thanks for your work Gabriel 🎉
🙏🏻. Happy and Prosperous 2024 Gabe and everyone.
Thanks man and same to you, safe travels. ✌️👊
Great video! Sri Lanka seems like such an interesting place. Appreciate all the work and thought you put in your videos. You certainly deserve a break. I wonder if you are going to have culture shock in the US after having been gone so long.
Hope you have a special Christmas! I have loved the your last few months traveling, its like I was next to you!!
Traveling around the world for 7 and half months without taking breaks sounds fun and tiring at the same time.Merry Christmas ,Gabe.
Exactly. Merry Christmas.
Beautiful place, friendly people, nice beaches 🏝Very big thumbs up for the great work bro 👍Thanks for sharing and keep going 😁Merry Christmas 🎅and happy New Year 🍾🎉
That did look like a Mongoose. Shame you have to leave but Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa are all great to visit on the next trip.
Merry Christmas.. Good to see you
Hello Gabriel, Merry Christmas to you and your family. I can not believe that we have been following you for at least the past seven months and ofcourse before that, time flies. Thank you for the beautiful time which you shared with us, we even speak of your videos with family and friends. Your videos are unique. Cheers for a new year with new travels 🍺
I love your channel Gabriel Happy Holidays! Safe travels... 😊
Welcome back.😊❤
Thanks.
Gabe, Thank you for bring back so many memories. We did that walk at the start of the video through the cutting to get to the main street. It was at night time and a train came along, pressed with our back to the walls of the cutting as the train whizzed passed. The look on my teenage daughters faces was priceless. Thank you again. Safe Travels.
Merry Christmas Gabriel 🎄 Happy New Year! Can't wait to see where you go in 2024! 😊❤
Great video Gabe, nice to meet some fans as well……..Happy Christmas and enjoy your well deserved break!
The animal you saw near the station is a Civet. There are 6 types of Civets in Sri Lanka. Sadly most of our three wheelers do not have meters thus they rip locals and foreigners alike but on hills they burn up more fuel. One needs at least a month to explore Sri Lanka. There are places that tourists dont usually visit or popular but very interesting.
Interesting, everyone else is saying mongoose so now I'm not sure what that was, one or the other I guess.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Nope! That's definitely a mongoose. Civets are much more darker in colour and have cat-like features; whereas, mongoose have a light to dark brown colour to their fur. They have small rounded ears and small beady eyes with a pointed snout. We here in Sri Lanka say if you find a mongoose then definitely there will be one or two cobras around.
Thank you Gabriel for your wonderful travelogs about my country, Sri Lanka. Hope you will visit us again in the near future coz there's so much more to discover in this beautiful pearl of the Indian Ocean. Wish you a safe journey in Thailand.
@@BenCohen-wg4jx Alright, good to know. 👍
Looked more like a Mongoose - shorter legs and fast moving
The artwork differs from period yo period like the Anuradhapura period, Polonnaruwa period and Kandyan period. It is believed that the Buddha carving was not finished completely but abandoned for a reason. There is a cave there which is now walled up some say after a few people got lost and never found. Folklore says that cave leads to Ravana water fall.
Hi from Arizona. 2 AM 46 degrees. Full cold moon.
Hope you managed a nice little rest at Christmas, all the best in 2024, look forward to more of your amazing videos, thank you.
Love all your videos especially the longer ones. I was so enjoying and then the time went so fast, just shows how good they are. Thank you Gabriel for your work.😊❤
Good stuff bro 👍🏻
That train at the beginning got a late start. There was some guy standing on the train tracks, who couldn‘t be bothered to move even when he was being honked at repeatedly… 🧐
Stunning!
The history of the Bhudist carving into the rock is similar to the Budist statue that was destroyed by the Taliban in Afghanistan a few years ago . Hope this one lasts a bit longer. Great vid. Gabriel. 😊😊😊😊😊
Hi Gabriel.. I'm from Sri Lanka and watched your Sri Lankan travel series on your RUclips channel. I subscribed to your channel for future videos. Actually I'd like your travel videos a lot because your English accent is very clear.
You better come back ..there are million things to explore in beautiful sri lanka ...
Thanks for visiting Sri Lanka.
Greetings from USA.
Hi Gabriel, spending the last days in Ski Lanka undoubtedly you had a beautiful experience. The mountain caves and religious monuments were amazing, and you delivered this video on the day you left for Thailand there are some caves in Thailand that I don't think you have seen during your trips there. Not sure if this is a stopover to travel back to the States or if you plan to stay a few days and venture around.
I like your youtube channel as you have allocated your time to go to place of worship and at least to know what is it there for. Safe journey. Well wishes by a Sri lankan.
You should have visited Adam's Peak is a 2,243 m (7,359 ft) tall conical sacred mountain located in central Sri Lanka.[1][2] It is well known for the Sri Pada (Śrī Pāda; Sinhala: ශ්රී පාද, "sacred footprint"), a 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in) rock formation near the summit whose name is also used for the mountain itself. In Buddhist tradition the print is held to be the footprint of the Buddha,
Adam's bridge, Adam's peak... Who was this Adam of Sri Lanka? 🤔
@parulsinha3092 Actually Adam from the Bible
@@parulsinha3092 These are western names. No 'Adam' in the true indigenous name lol
@@navs485, The name comes from early Islamic travellers, not from westerners. Muslims also believe in Adam.
@@truebelief3631 Islamic travelers, westerners, martians. Their all foreigners. This name is non native is my point.
number 54 lol hell yeah. closes to 1st view iv ever had. Travel well Gabe
Sorry it took you 15y to finally visit Sri Lanka Gabriel!
What a great country so pretty!
A blessed Good day sir Gabe, Wowwww Another Excellent Wonderful Great Journey adventure There in Ella, Sri Lanka, this Nature, Culture History and Holy Temple is Amazing, 😍 I love the Goodvibes of this Place, Highly recommend Tourist Spots Specially this Holiday Season
Thank u so much sir Gabe for your Wonderful Walk around tour video, Merry Christmas 🎄🎁👏👏👏👏⛄ and Happy Holidays to you and to your family Stay Safe, and Godbless ♥️🙂🎉🙏💕👏👏👍
From your solid fan supporter from Tondo Manila Philippines 🇵🇭🙏🙂
In the ancient world, Anuradhapura was always among the top 10 biggest cities on earth and King Valagamba ruled that city for more than 2.5 decades. He's daughter in-law became the first queen from Asia..
Love another day of exploring Sri Lanka! Every time you wear this shirt…I think it’s a Grateful Dead shirt. One of my favorite bands~Cara 😊
First...Merry Christmas Gabe1
Got it, congrats and Merry Christmas.
Positional 2nd place, well done 👍
Absolutely amazing how complex travel is in the last 3 years - astounding how anyone manages to get anywhere. Spot on remark on a train ticket puchase
The classic Gabriel look. Haha so funny!
I enjoy it when you meet a follower. I live across the boarder from where he lives Mississauga.
I am sri Lankan and I once traveled to this incredible temple
Must be a Mangoose. Both Civet and Mangoose appear similar, but Mangoose has bushy tail while Civet tail appears somewhat leaner. Civets are far more rarer than Mangoose. This one appears quite big for a Mangoose, raising doubts as to whether it is civet. Wild Mangoose can be seen in North India also and many of them have made numerous parks in Delhi as their home
Thank you for visiting our country . Hope you enjoed well ❤. Stay safe
🌴Ella🌳 A tropical beauty 😍 Ohh Thailand 🙏 another paradise 🌞
Sri Lanka great to visit
Thank you Gabe. Hoping for an amazing Holiday season for you !!
You might have already left Ella. There is a government website to book train tickets. You can book first, second or third class. You might be able to get a seat without booking because trains start a couple of stations ahead. It is well worth trying the train because you won't see that scenery otherwise.
You caught real nature..I love it.srilankan living with nature according to Buddha.
We are close to the same age, do you remember hearing about Rikki Tikki Tavi growing up? I still remember. What I can't remember is if this memory came from a book or a cartoon.
I think a book, like a story in a book.😊
Its a book by R L spittle. The island referred in there is Sri Lanka
@@sunethg It's actually s short story in the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, which was also turned into a cartoon in the 70's in the U.S..
@@Deadfoot-Dan Yeah you are correct. in spittle's book ther was only one mongoose whose name was Tikki. I guess spittle was a fan of Kipling hence the name 🙂
I haven't, but the name reminds me of another book, Tikki Tikki Tembo.
Hello Gabriel 👋👋
🎉 2024 just around the door!!! Safe journey and great videos! I often dream of those places then to see some of the temples in your vlogs is unreal! 🪴🥂
Really enjoying this Sri Lanka series. I need to go there.
0:05 That font looks so similar to India's Telugu and Kanadda language fonts
No different ..
Yes.. but not intelligible in anyway.. because the script is actually NOT SIMILAR but the shape.. and telugu kannada are dravidan while sinhala is indo aryan..
@@ChannaJayawardhana-h1o I mean there is striking resemblance even with invidual letters that looks so much like telugu or kannada. What explains such similarity ?
There should be some history behind this that was lost in time.
None of the north Indian text have such similarity.
@@browchump8764 when sinhalese ancestors came to sri lanka they didn't bring the North indian script devanagari.. cuz at that time devanagari script wasn't born.. before the modern script only brahmi was used to write old sinhala.. with time sinhalese got the Grantha, pallava and kadamba influence.. sinhala was isolated here with only southern indian languages and ethnicitie without any connection to other aryan ethnicities or languages.. it's an obvious thing..
But again no it is not intelligible to telugu or kannada speakers.. cuz its a separate language.. even telugu and kannada got 90% similar scripts..but with sinhala no more than 10%..
They'll guess the letters like "ර(R)"..
@@ChannaJayawardhana-h1o There may not be similar in understanding and speaking , but I noticed more then one text and Mathraas as we call it similar to Indian languages I mentioned.
So definitely there is some overlapping similarity that needs to be further studied by scholars or researchers.
Gabriel❤👍 welcome
Welcome my country sri lanka ❤❤
go to the north. dambulla, sigiriya etc
That cute creature sure looked like a mongoose to me!! Love those guys!! Happy Travels
Coolest tuk,-TUK EVER ,EXCELLENT VIEWS ,,
Good Morning 👋👋👍
Nice to see you in srilanka, ❤
What country are you going to next
Flying to Thailand tonight.
Oh man i was from you few months ago to go to sri lanka. So here you are. Great
Hey, I followed your travel videos, It is grate pleasure to see you in my country. You have to visit more places inside the country. I hope you will be visit as far as you can, and explore my country to the world. You are grate traveler and youtuber.
7:10 He looked like a ferret…really neat!
Next time do see the mountain rock of sigiriya . It is said to be kingdom of Ravana according to Hindus of Lanka .
good vid Gabe, thank you
The animal you saw could be a Ruddy Mongoose
Yes, I think that's it.
on 11:00 it looks a littlebit like Kiyoto in japan thats so wild
sorry its min 13:00
Dowa temple is halfway between Ella city and Bandarawela city.
That was crazy everyone sitting and standing on the side of the bridge. You fall, you die.
Of course you have achieve a lot in youtube and I love your style of vlogging, but I wish if you can show more local interactions like talking to people in the restaurant, meeting random people etc. Pls do it while you're in Sri Lanka. Forgot to mention, we appreciate you appropriate music. nope take it back. why indian music in "tuk tik race"
Nice video. I want to watch the full video ,but not enough time.😢
The Nine Arches Bridge of Sri lanka is the most overrated tourist trap I've ever seen. There is a Nine Arches Bridge in England called the Sankey Viaduct and it is the oldest railway viaduct in the world (1828), but hardly anyone visits it or even knows about it. It's completely deserted. 🤣
Flew over Sri Lanka last night - Singapore to Trivandrum - saw that same otter-like creature this a.m.
Happy New Year ji!
Cool, enjoy Kerala.
I know everyone travels differently but I would have only got as far as Kangra by now. Travel in a disablity wheel-chair, India at 15kms an hour.
Next trip might also check out Trincomalee.
Hi..Gabriel. That was a mongoose.Merry Christmas 🎄
THAT ANIMAL WAS THE SRI LANKAN MONSTER...LOVES KOTTU..
Ruddy Mongoose - Herpestes Smithii
Where mangoose there usually cobra is nearby !
That animal you saw is call Mongoose, the death ambassador of Cobra snakes.
Gabriel.
Hello. Sri Lanka. Seven + half month in, on the go.
You prove that it's untrue for man to travel all over the world. I read it would take a foreigner to Nepal One hundred years to catch up to the level of a Sherpa. So hot how the Sherpa guest house meet + greet in the mountain hike area wanted to lob your pack to the house.
Appreciate it, very inspiring.
Look! Craig the I don't want you to take a break guy UK. Gabriel if you must though:)
Thank you for going around Sri Lanka, say that's beautiful to be there.
OK Gabriel see you for now. Best of luck!
"I'm never going to get home" sounds like my Idea of paradise.....lol.
Definitely not the worst situation to be in.
Great video. תודה.
That's mongoose. 1041m above sea level means 3415 feets.
That is for new year party (31st)
Good catch, I hadn't noticed that. Good thing I didn't try to go to it.
Was that a Civit? The producer of the most expensive coffee in the world, Kopi Luwak?..........ps, what a cool thing to meet fans on the road....
I guess it's a mongoose, not a civet, but they look similar.
Well you should have some king coconut (orange/green) or at least Lankan ginger beer while you are there :)
great video
I believe that's a mink at 6:30
That arch bridge had literally no one when i went in 2018. i have a picture of my sister and I with literally no one on the bridge.
i just found my picture 11 feb 2018 i have many pictures there was at most 4 guys just chilling mostly likely locals.
Cool.
