No drama, a pax in PEY spotted the left engine venting oil vapor before takeoff ( normal ) and freaked out, vacated the runway, and third pilot came into the cabin to check it out and reassure the pax.
I don’t get it, where was Qantas, on upwind? (1) Was Cathay waiting for them to get further ahead or (2) Cathay not ready to go and Qantas was on final?
When i was filming Qantas was 3 minutes away which gave Cathay Pacific enough time for takeoff but when Cathay Pacific aborted then only i realize Qantas was a bit early and it was a pretty windy day
I've been told in the comments that the crew reported some smoke coming out of the engine which was normal so they vacated the runway just to make sure everything was okay before takeoff.
Of course it was an aborted take off. With that Q coming in, probably due to poor traffic control, Cathay aborted their take off to allow Q to lane. It's not that hard to figure out. 😅
Your not going to move an aircraft off the runway just to land a plane because your traffic count might be off. You'll send Qantas on a go around. More like Cathay had something not quite right and wanted to check it out first
😮😮
Beautiful capturing ❤
Thank you 😊 🙏
Either that or Qantas would have to do a go around! A bit bizarre though to see a big plane riding on the grass like a golf buggy!
There’s a taxiway there. He’s not on the grass!

Thank you so much for the information, luckily nothing major and it did takeoff
Gives a great perspective on size when the A350 returns and goes past the Citation ….
QF dreamliner…what a landing!
Smashed it 👏

@@smaucklandaviation2712any number of reasons why it would taxi off the active runway - tech problems or clearance rescinded or not given in time 🤔

usually a go around would have been sufficient but to see a plane taxi off the runway was a bit strange
It wasn’t an “aborted” takeoff. Cathy did not even commence takeoff, it just vacated the runway for reasons unknown. Don’t overdramatise a non-event.
You don't know what happened in the Cathay Pacific cockpit. Maybe it was an aborted take off.

With the risk of having a flying kangaroo up your clacker it is best to abort takeoff, which he did.

Yikes. QF smashed that on.
Pretty hard hahah
