@@BknMoonStudiosIf you mean the Saturn version than sure, but in the mobile phone version or PS4 using her summons empties out her hearts, so that balances her out a lot and makes playing as Maria in many ways more difficult than Alucard. Alucard with the Crissaegrim or two Crissaegrims is as OP as it gets because he has a rapid fire attack that literally doesn’t allow anything through it and kills bosses almost instantly.

I really love these castlevania videos, I had forgotten how fun and interesting it's universe was. I've dug up a bunch of my old games because of these and I'm loving playing through them again, thanks for making these vids.

Some games I recomend you try if you like SOTN, Aria ans Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and the recently Released Bloodstained Ritual of the Night aka as close as someone can get to castleviana without voilateing copyright.
Order of Ecclesia and Bloodstained: RotN are the best Castlevania’s ever and you should try them when you get the chance

I always felt she should have been a Belnades, since they bring back the Belnades name in Aria of Sorrow. So in my headcannon, she's a distant relative like Charlotte is. (Which would also make sense with her being a distant relative of the Belmonts, since Trevor and Sypha are a Belmont and a Belnades.

Netflix used the Castlevania The Dracula X Chronicles Maria Renard likeness from the PSP version and not the original which is disappointing but nothing can be done about it. It's all because Igarashi was jealous that Rondo wasn't the popular one instead it was Symphony of the Night despite having worked on both. He really wanted Rondo so he decided to do the remake of Rondo and Castlevania The Dracula X Chronicles what we got. If it wasn't for this Netflix might of been forced to use badass Maria instead and change the entire aspect of the 5th season of the animated Castlevania series. I wonder if they gonna keep the relationship between Maria and Alucard if they plan to do more Castlevania after Richter's story.

Jokes aside, what I find somewhat tragic about her relation towards Richter is that, as you said, she always saw the azure vampire hunter as not only a legend on it's own, but also as an idol.
In fact, Dracula X Chronicles (I don't know if Rondo adresses it, too) states in the first meeting with Richter that her fathers were killed during the Siege of Aljiba (the name of the town in flames seen in stage I, who was meant to be a reference to Simon's Quest, since it was actually one of the towns that Simon could visit in the game) in 1792, in where basically the reformed demon armada of Dracula continued their genocidal war against humanity and massacred the town, leaving few survivors (being for example Annette, Tera, Iris and, of course, Maria). For unknown reasons, it seems she doesn't had more familiars or family that could continue to raise her, and here is where Richter, after having all those epic aventures with her and being compassionate of her's current situation, adopts her, making Maria automatically a Belmont by legal terms (also curiously, even if she is not blood-related to Annette, she also becomes part of her family since by marrying Richter she became a Belmont in legal terms, too).
Richter went to take care of Maria's education not only as a person, but also as a very talented vampire hunter (if stated by Alucard that the Belmont bloodline is supreme among vampire hunters, surely Maria must be the 2th best vampire hunter at least in Europe in that era). Even if he wasn't much of an academic in magic compared to what like his ''grandfather / father'' Juste was, he did his best to enhance his magical capabilities, and letting her study with all the great resources the Belmont headquarters had at their disposal (according at least of what we could imagine as Netflix presented in the series, training with the Belmonts is training not only with the best instructors but also with the people with most knowledge of supernatural things in earth).
Like in any type of master - disciple education, Richter left some of his traits in Maria's personality. The most prominent were his sense of justice (which actually she may have received even during 1792, given how even if she admits she doesn't understands too much about Dracula's discourse, she still criticizes him for condemning an entire race just for the errors of few without even knowing much about Dracula's backstory) and his flexibility towards supernatural things (Richter is a good example of how the family took their direction towards the supernatural after Trevor. Knowing that not all darkborn beings such as Alucard are intrinsically bad or evil changed a lot of their perspectives towards supernatural beings, specially vampires. In the end of SOTN, he thanks Alucard for helping saving him, and when Alucard condemns himself to return to the coffin, he incentivates her to help him and convincing him from doing the contrary, when he could had just stand away, being suspicious of if a relation with a dhampir would be good, excluding him because of his condition).
To not make my commentary more extense, I find tragic how Maria saw how Richter, the man who was his idol brother and master, had to endure such a horrible experience like being mind-controlled and feeling utterly and personally ashamed for it, and then failing apart, refusing to continue to wield the Vampire Killer whip time later, and preferring to vanish from history (we may not ever known if it was because of his personal dishonor being too massive or because of major force) ....is simply demolishing. Demolishing to see how even the person she though was the encarnation of justice, the one who saw always a light through even the darkest of tunnels and the best human being she could have ever meet, could be even break apart.
She probably understood then that maybe darker times can make some people heroes, but they can also kill them (both physically and mentally).
Excellent video. I hope seeing you doing more about Castlevania characters and events (I'm specially wanting to see one dedicated to Richter, my favorite Belmont, and maybe clarifying some aspects of his story). Thanks also for keeping alive the franchise in RUclips, at least in what lore means.

Though it would cool to see you tackle the villains of the series at some point regardless if its Graham Jones, Magnus, Shaft or Brauner. I know Belmont in the real world, behind the scenes sense derives from French actor Belmondo, but I think it's worth pointing out that Belmont itself is a French name and is more common than Belmondo in French surnames. Belmondo is likely an Italian derivative of Belmont.
Belmont would roughly translate to something like, beautiful mountain.

Odd this comes out in the very week I started to gain massive interest in the Castlevania Series as a whole.
Sure i've only played Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow thus far, but now I have a massive interest in Rondo and Symphony-

@@erikfigueroa6390 what I would do if I were the writers is having this Next season to beat the villain. Alucard goes back to romania going in different ways. Then we have a time Skip and María finds Alucard while travelling cause she is looking for richter like in sotn. And then we have an adaptation of that game and the start of their relationship. It was confirmed that María is 16 in nocturne, so maybe a 5 year time Skip is fine

The netflix anime had a village strategist and warrior who reaches out for alucards help greta play a similar role as maria humanizing Alucard after the events of season 2. A richter series has been announced so i hope they don’t leave Maria out of the series like they did with Grant. To see them embrace a lighter/anime side of the castlevania series would be cool.
They already ruined Alucard's character and motives in the original story. Try as they might, Netflix Alucard will never be anywhere as close to his original version.

The real explanation for all the Japanese touches: Maria is *the* Proto-Otaku. She wasn't imitating Richter, he was imitating her! She probably spent a good ten minutes explaining why he should do a V with his fingers. At that point he had probably already learned to just do what she wants to avoid being swarmed by tiny incarnations of legendary beasts.

Shanoa is more of a tragic character than anything. Yeah, she's hot, but she literally had no emotions until the very end and until then is just an emotionless puppet just following orders from Barlowe, a Dracula cultist and basically Shaft 2.0. (OoE takes place soon after SotN) She is also implied to have offed herself at the end as her home Ecclisia was gone and everyone she loved was dead, though Judgement implied she became a Nun after the events of her game so maybe she didn't die? Also she's weak AF as Dracula's freaking CAPE is an instakill in that game and it's impossible to win without using the Dominus spell which kills both of you. (but doesn't kill Shanoa in this instance because plot.) Dracula doesn't even need to enter his second form to wreck Shanoa, and if he pulls off his ultimate attack Darkness Meggido before you can use Dominus he does 666,666 damage every frame for an infinite period of time that covers the entire screen (the damage cap is normally 9,999) which also pierces invincibility. Even cheats can't save you. Dracula even has infinite HP and infinite HP regen in that game. You just have to either survive for 2 minutes or deal 6000 damage total to start the cutscene where Dracula charges up his ultimate attack and you can use Dominus to win. Shanoa might just be the weakest Castlevania protagonist to date. Even her basic attacks use MP and she dies in like 5 hits. Pathetic. Even Charlette is better due to utility (speed boost is da best) and is required to beat the game without getting the bad ending due to Santuary.
