This movie is good but man, that score is a bit much at times (like in this scene). You don’t need to have dramatic music playing every second of the film.
One partner wanted to settle out of human compassion, call it pity if you want, and another wanted to settle this quietly just from a sheer practical standpoint. Fighting this all the way to trial at Jason Robards’ insistence was the big mistake. (Then again, there wouldn’t be much of a movie plot if they’d taken the practical route.)
