True but we do have to consider those heads of large law firms aren't used to be cross-examined and can't hide their egos and personal prejudices when poked and prodded strategically.
The witness on the stand is absolutely useless. Might as well just feed the evidence to Denzel. As a top lawyer, I can't believe he didn't try to dodge the questions.
The witness's view of homosexuality was not so far out of the mainstream that it could only have harmed the defense. While offensive to viewers today, from the perspective of the defense back then, they needed to validate the idea that it's okay to fire gays for being gay, and to show no mercy to those with AIDS. If the defense could win a few jurors like that, then they'd be 2/12ths closer to acquittal.

The woman (Ms. Benedict) who contracted AIDS via a blood transfusion "after giving birth to her second child" most definitely contracted this disease through her own actions (choosing to give birth). I've always found it interesting that the screen writers opened this door yet chose not to walk through it.
Your average jury is going to make the distinction between bringing life into the world by way of an innocent child to what was more taboo then of having dirty butt sex of the same gender. Considering whatever background or bias the members of the jury has, you don't want to remind them of this distinction even though most level headed folks would consider both perfectly reasonable desires of human life.
I think that is what Miller is trying to highlight when he indicates that this case has to do with his sexual orientation. This is why he keeps asking the witnesses if they are gay, and in this case, asks about what they did to the guy who was walking nude. They have contempt over gay men. That definitely hurt the defense's case.
Really what about Ryan White the little boy that got tainted blood it's fault for need a transfusion too? I guess I see your point though in a way she contracted the virus sexually had she not gotten pregnant she would not have had to give birth is your logic? Why not blame the baby for not being born in a less traumatic way not all Mothers need blood transfusions. Duh. He just thinks that guy deserves to suffer and die because he's queer. Now women are in the military navy etc. and get raped and victim blamed regularly too that's society for you.
He isn't wrong. Someone who contracts HIV through a blood transfusion, or through no fault of their own, is way different than someone going out and knowingly sharing needles, or having unprotected sexual contact with others. To say there should be equal compassion for both is not reality.
@Sal Santiago Total atheist. The gays have been given free reign now with the drugs that prolong their life. though, the amount that played the system to have the tax payers pay for their medication was alarming.
