Don't forget if you're seeing this in July of 2022 that I will be streaming NieR: Replicant in July. Starting 7/5/22 Also, here's my original Japanese Version Reaction video to Weight of the World: ruclips.net/video/iAFzDNmPr-g/видео.html
have you covered or touch upon ashes of dreams (NieR)? its on the top 5 of video game music for me along with Answers (FFXIV), suteki da ne (FFX), small two of pieces (xenogears) and baba yetu (Civ4)
ah... that reminds me again of the time when I finishes the game. "It might feels pointless, but don't give up! We're all in this together!" "When you feel like giving up, just remember! You are not alone!" "Don't give up! Because we also went through it! so you can too!" "Even if it's meaningless, Believe in yourself! We'll be waiting for you at the end!"
Well, the multiple languages also speaks to the encouragement we are getting from all over the world as we fail and fail again in the end.... If you played the game though to (E)nd of Yourha you probably have tears in your eyes whenever you hear it too. 🌍🌎🌏
One aspect I really love about End of Yorha is that the last lyrics you can hear are "but the truth is that I'm only" and then the rest gets drowned out by the choir. She is no longer only one girl.
A nice touch is that the FFXIV one's lyrics are in the proprietary language of the game. It's adding Eorzean Common to the various languages sung within Weight Of The World.
The Weight of the World is to me, a song of sadness and pain, but something happens with The Weight of The World - The End Of Yorha -. There is still sadness and pain, but then you meet people who are sad and hurt too, and sharing all these feelings something comes up: Maybe something warm, some comfort, which can help everyone to move on.
This song still hurts so much, it doesn't help that I associated it with my own life experiences during that time, but I keep coming to it because there's still something comforting about it :( Kids, don't play this game if you're going through some rough shit.
@@xubikiltro5263 I counter that with: Play this game if you are going through rough shit. (As someone who lost his dad not long before playing this the first time.) If helps you find hope when you felt there was none.
The best part of early, big chorus version of the song in all languages -- it plays at a point when it represents you as being aided in doing something by all of the game's other players across the planet who played online. Each player who helped you deleted their save file and all of their work to do that. The message behind the song is one of togetherness and games being more than "silly little things".
I feel like the FFXIV version continues the song's theme of "the truth is that I'm only one girl" with "but there are 23 others like me fighting here together".
LAG, there is even more to this than you realize. The song is being sang in Japanese (the original language of the game), English (the version for he rest of the world), and Chaos (the language of the game's setting). This connects all of us across worlds real and virtual. The version from Shadowbringers though... that is the language of Eorzea (known as "Forspoken") meaning the peoples of Eorzea add their voices to the chorus of souls.
A cool story about this song is Emi Evans (the writer/performer of the "chaos language") sang a verse in the critically endangered Chamicuro language where there are only a handful of indigenous people who speak the language left in the whole world. It's moving, beautiful, and bittersweet.
Fun fact: the choir part is actually from the creators. This is probably the most emotional scene and yet all you see is the end credits. Nier Automata is a masterpiece.
I feel the 8 bit version is a universal language of digital information. Math is universal, computer code being 0s and 1s. It is a way of feeling the music that can be transcended beyond language.
the 8 bit for the digital the 3 most famous languages in every continent to represent people in society one indigineous language close to extintion to represent the primitive people that are still out there and the chaos language to represent the characters of the game All of this to say that we are all connected, and we are all sharing the weight of the world.
I gotta say I deleted 3 of my saves for the players out there knowing that someday that save will be deleted as it dies. Hope the player who receives my help enjoyed their time playing this wonderful game ❤️❤️❤️ Much love to u Marco for sharing this ❤️
Ending E is my number 1 video game moment I wish I could delete from my memory and experience for the first time over and over again. The moment you "get help" and the full chorus comes in is unmatched for me in musical/thematic resonance in video games, other than maybe like the final trial of Endwalker.
yeah getting your ass kicked by Business department, and then chorus and help from random strangers comes in... damn I wish I could relive it as well and I finished N:A like 6 times (A through E endings)
I will never tire of different renditions of this track. The sound team (don't want to leave anyone out, composers, vocalists, everyone) for NieR games are just incredibly talented.
This song hit me so hard when i got to ending e. I love this game, because everything blending together creates a perfectly imperfect story. The turn from 8-bit to a full orchestrated piece is also incredible
I feel like "We're going to shout it loud, even if our words seem meaningless" is a very profound lyric given the music of this game, and even NieR:Replicant, considering almost every song in this game plays at a specific time, with a special feeling that just so happens to feel like it fits the occasion, and, yet, despite how right they feel, they are nothing. Those songs are meaningless to anybody but Emi Evans. Somehow, however, deep inside we know their meanings. Music is a universal language because it portrays pure emotion without the need for true words. Voice of No Return feels like sitting down after getting bad news and not knowing what to do with yourself. A Beautiful Song is forgetting to ask yourself if the means are worth the end because you'd take and/or destroying anything for that end. Kaine/Salvation feels like the relief of feeling something other than anger, even if that feeling is a profound sadness at knowing your circumstances and what led to them. These songs... are meaningless. No words mean a single thing. Yet, somehow, we can all find our own meanings in them. These songs are meaningless and more meaningful than any piece of scripture that has ever been written, or ever will be, simply due to how many interpretations can be taken from them. TL;DR-> Because the music of NieR is meaningless, they can be interpreted several different ways, more than any normal piece of writing could be. Thus, they are some of the most meaningful pieces of art ever created, simply out of their meaninglessness, and this song highlights it well.
Since you picked the Japanese version for the original run at this song, I’d been wanting to comment about how the chorus in this one is the game’s creators singing. This song is a ball your eyes out kind of piece when you have the context of the game behind it. If you want to go further down the rabbit hole in that regard there are some really great video essays out there, one of which being what introduced me to this game originally. Michael Saba’s is my favorite of them. In case there are any out there who have missed this gem, if you’ve only gone through the game for the first ending, you’re only at the end of the prologue.
Not just one of the game's creators, supposedly the entire development team is doing the "la la la"s (haven't found 100% confirmation on that, but that's what I keep seeing everywhere).
The seamless transitions between the different languages in the song are so masterfully done that at times I don’t even realize it’s another language, I just hear it and feel like I know the words and enjoy the song.
The written-for-English lyrics are like a whole different damn song than the Japanese lyrics translated, with the latter being the most emotionally crushing thing I may have ever heard. When I first did Copied Factory, I had never heard this music before, I had never played NieR, but just on the strength of the music alone I was having trouble doing the boss because I was tearing up, it was that damn good. Possibly my favorite boss music in the game. It goes so far as being like... whatever is the last fight you'll have to fight your whole life, it's what you'd want the music to be.
let me tell ya, hearing this at the end of NieR... Holy shit. The game does so much to make you feel hopeless and empty after the "last fight." And then *THIS* track and sequence completely change everything. This game tears out your heart, plays catch with it, and then puts it back with a gentle kiss
i havent played Nier either but during this whole fight with this music i was on the edge the entire time it felt like i wasnt playing a game i was actually there in the copied factory fighting with everyone for the sake of everything. my older brother who has played nier i can only imagine what his reaction to it will be
Truth is, they are actually different.... I mean completely different lyrics.... The Japanese version is more from 9s point of view (maybe a bit of 2b's view also), while the English one, for me, is more of A2
When i heard this song first time, i cried like a little crushed girl.😭 But, i like it more when you're talking in the process, like, after every parts of the song (after every verse for example). It adds dynamic in the process and makes me want to watch the whole video not just parts even if it's harder to edit. Because, you know, i can listen the song all by myself, and i watch your video for your comments, just like the most of the others i guess. Also, i think people likes it even more when you giving us a review of the song and add some professional words about songs lyrics and vocal, because this is separating you from the other music reaction channel and makes us more involved. In any case, that's great video, buddy, i had a great time watching it, Thank you.😁
That version of Weight of the world plays during the E ending AKA End of YoRha also you fight the credits but its too difficult everytime you lose the game asks you questions like you think games are a waste of time and many more but then something happens and other people joins the fight to help you and that's why there is a chorus in this version.. And yes this version gives you sadness and pain but a feeling of hope.... A feeling to never give up because there always will be people out there to help you and fight for you
"I'm with you, don't give up!" "You're stronger than you realize. Keep going!" "Your journey is not over. I know you can make it!" I cried. I balled. Could not finish playing it, just let the credits roll. Amazing game! Edit: It was very appropriate that I played through it during the lock down in 2020. As I hear it now I'm still balling. Beautiful.
My absolute favorite part of End of Yorha is the part where the last "But the truth is that I'm only one girl" is drowned out by the rising choir of people helping you, to show you that no, you are not only one. You are not alone.
This song is sooo beautiful in its context, NieR brought me so many emotions and the song mixing languages made me feel closer to people I have never met, but I know shared their hearts with me. The game is a roallercoster of emotions, and in the end you are depressed as fuck, cause no matter what we do, all is meaningless, but we have no regrets as thats not the point. Its always about how we choose how to spend the time we have. If the raid was longer I wouldnt mind.
12:50 That's not just the crystals theme from FFXIV, that's basically the theme/leitmotif of the entire Final Fantasy series and has occurred in some way in every single game.
Combining the talents of Keichi Okabe and Soken = god tier music. Another more obscure work from keichi is Prelude of Showdown from the mobile game SINoALICE. Has the same feel as the nier ost
Copied Factory is my favorite NieR raid in FFXIV. Mostly because of the music. The first time I reached the final boss was just once in a lifetime experience. Nines showing up and then Weight of the World - Prelude, oh man, it was magical. Needless to say I cried throughout the entire battle. What a gift. Truly a masterpiece.
I prefer Tower at Paradigm's Breach. The fight with Her Inflorescence... the stakes, the setting, the music, the memes.... Getting launched out of the boss arena by the Square Enix building is like a rite of passage. :P
I love Nier and FFXIV's music so much. They are both so incredible. So many versions of songs with such different feelings. To me, the Nier version(s) are about world-weariness and not giving in to despair, While the FFXIV version is a call to battle, to stand firmly, and protect the weak at all costs. Edit: love your videos! I was typing and listening so I might have overlapped what you said a bit, sorry.
So much I want to say but cant put into words when I heard the orignal at the end of Nier Automatas end for the first time. Its just such an amazing moment to experience. Also my first time listening to the FF XIV version. Its fricking awesome, I love how it blends ff into it and has the ff theme in it. I dont know what else to call it but I hope that makes sense. Just holly crap beautiful. Edit: Not sure but I think its called the crystal theme.
Man…you could start a ELEGANT podcast about listening to orchestras to video games or even from movies! I recently found you, really thinking your podcast would be popular!
For the Weight of the World (Prelude), I really love the brass instruments responding to the vocals during the chorus in 9:21. The theme has this feeling of urgency at the start, the chorus gives it a little twist and makes the theme also sound very heroic and redeeming in another sense. I love how its the polar opposite to the original Weight of the World in terms of its mood
I commented on a previous video featuring the English version of the song, about how the "End of YorHa" version comes off as humanity's swan song, and once you dig into it, you can see why. Not only do we have current languages in there, but a "future" one in the Chaos language, plus the development team singing that back-up chorus, all while the names of other players can be seen assisting you through their sacrifices as you battle through the credits. The entire experience feels like our entire species coming together for one last hurrah.
The way I see it, the End of YorHa starts as an 8-bit song for a ton of reasons. First and foremost it plays in a shoot em up section, one of the oldest videogame genres, like in space invaders, an 8-bit style track fits. There's also the thing that you say, about a simpler time, when the weight of the world didn't feel as heavy. But for me there's also the element that an 8-bit track has a lot of limitations, to the point that most often than not it can only present the melody without any acompaniements, in this way the 8-bit version is alone, on its own fighting against the world (the credits) but then the singers joins and soon enough there's is a whole chorus of people. Just like how you aren't fighting alone anymore at that point of the gameplay, the melody isn't alone anymore.
It can never be understated what kind of message is evoked knowing how many of us just threw all our time and progress away to help some random stranger we'll never meet accomplish the impossible. Probably the closest we'll ever come to performing a spirit bomb
What I find interesting is that both nier and 14 have similar themes, but in the 2 versions of this theme you can see the different philosophies they answer with. Nier gives us a light contemplation that builds into a roaring chior of acceptance and compassion; it answers with words and thought. Meanwhile 14 goes right from the start, there is no contemplation, just a bold faced battlecry in defiance to fate; it answers with action and and will. But despite these two very different takes, the answer is the same and is sung to the heavens.
I think part of that also is how and where they are used in the games, I know with the 14 one as a raid boss theme, it needs to go hard right from the start because of the intensity of the build up in the raid to that point, but also done in a way that can be put on a loop/repeat if the boss fight goes on longer than the song playthrough, and they added the main prelude of light theme in the middle of well.
The hardest part of these boss fights? Doing mechanics while sobbing your eyes out. Before Shadowbringers came out, I had already gotten to the [E]nd and deleted my save file. Everything was at peace. 2B, 9S, A2... Finally after so much hell, these three broken souls could rest and have a future that had forever been denied to them from the beginning. And then 9S flew in and told me he was going to kill me. I broke down crying. For me, this boss theme is pain. The vocals sound like they are crying in agony, in equal parts pleading and defiance. Singing these familiar words again, saying that we have come so far and yet history will repeat itself again. The lives of these machines and androids will continue to end in tragedy, despite that I had sacrificed everything so this could never happen again. Then gently, the Prelude tells me that this time will be different. Keep believing, and we will make this dream come to life.
the way i see it, the 8-bit version at the start could represent the machine lifeforms at their "raw" state, and the other versions could represent the branching ways in which they evolved and developed their own culture
I think what I love about Weight of the World (Prelude) is that it takes a song of lament... I hope that some way, some how/That I could save every one of us/But the truth is that I'm only one girl. ...and changes it into a song of triumph and determination. "I'm only one [girl], but I am GOING to save everyone!"
I love all the versions of this song that I've heard. They're great. Though I tend to listen to the English version as opposed to the end of yorha. Which is a bunch of different languages.
The beginning to End of Yorha, to me, sounds like it's explicitly Pod 042's initiating the battle. There's no lyrics because Pods don't (can't?) sing but they can produce music (the sound of hacking). But after awhile, Pod isn't alone. 'He' gains help in spirit by 'his' companions to fight against the end. The longer it goes, the more help Pod receives until it's a chorus of souls all hoping for a tomorrow to live in.
as a fan of both the nier series and ffxiv hearing the ffxiv raid theme felt like a triumph, like yoko taro and keichi okabe thanking us all for the succes of his game and taking a victory lap and it almost feels like a farewell in some weird way
You should check out the fan arrangement of "Close the Distance" that was recently posted. Fans got together and got over 1000 people from the FF14 community to sing that song and i feel like you would appreciate it! :)
its been years, but the emotional weight and nostalgia wave from this song still makes me tear up. I had no idea there was a crossover version. it feels so much more hopeful.
have not played but I love how the ff14 raid somehow manages to make weight of the world a boss theme sure the emotions aren't the same but the general identity of the track is still there also I like how they are mixing it with the ff14 track just helps make it more cool Imo
When you play the game, and you went in that raid for the first time (it was probably a bit different when it was new, cause everyone was watching the cutscene etc), it was frigging amazing because it gives you a sense of unity with the other 24 people and hyped you up for the firework of mechanics they dumped on you. I you played Nier, at that point you were also in a Roller Coaster of Emotions with 9S being the final boss, and seeing he was not corrupted by the virus at that point. So it was a total "Imma cry now" moment 8D
Weight of the World for me is that one single piece that enabled me to finally enjoy music, to sense the emotion in it. I used to be unemphatic and only listened to music to fill my ears, not to experience it, but the ending of Automata still manages to squeeze a tear from me. It hit the hardest for me on that one final credit scene, you know. The experience was all the more tear dropping because I played on a pirate version, which is cringe, I know, I since then bought it.
Oh man not the cutscenes! Those were already flashing through my mind every time I listen to this song. 😭💔 The emotional damage is on another level. It has truly left a deep impression on me.
I love how your reactions always give the music its full respect. You let the entire sequence play out and dont cut the melodies and motives out of context, just to comment on it. Big loves.
I think the most beautiful thing about the original Japanese version of Weight of the World is that at 4:16 in the full song (Timestamped: ruclips.net/video/Dsk3DTdTY3Y/видео.html ), the singer (Marina Kawano) found the lyrics so powerful while singing that she just starts crying while singing, and they decided to keep it in. that reason specifically is why the original Japanese version of the song is my favorite, but the Final Fantasy Prelude Version comes very close to being my favorite, if only just
One of the fun parts as well with this is that they made this Cannon in both universes ... so that's an interesting bit. I do love the fact they added the Final Fantasy Prelude of Light into it as well. Prelude of Light is from every Final Fantasy game, not just 14.
I remember when I played NieR back when it came out in 2016. This game and its music is so dear to me, I will mever forget the impact it had on me back then. It is truely a masterpiece and seeing it still being shared and appreciated today is just so meaningful to me.
I cannot like this video enough. FFXIV's Prelude version blew my mind the first time I heard a sample of it during one of the liveletters. Okabe is a genius.
You mentioned you go back to the raid just to play this song... I suggest getting the NeiR mount in the gold saucer, it plays the raid theme as its mount music.
It's an AMAZING piece of music. Weight of The World (End of Yorha). It's amazing and how it integrates perfectly with the gameplay so flawlessly. "Will you help others, even if they can never thank you"
Just hit Ending E on a 120 hour quasi-completion run. It felt so... much. I spent nearly 6 straight hours attacking the wall offline, had no idea about the multiplayer aspect. I got internet back, saw all the messages, I haven't felt like that in years. When I saw "Pringle has come to your aid" I was shaking. And when the end came... it felt right, watching it all go.
I don't know how but even now, 5 years after playing Automata the first time, fully completing it 4 (soon to be 6 more times as I am going to restart it tonight and then get on Switch) I don't know how this song brings me to tears EVERYTIME hearing it. And my NieR playlist on Spotify is one of my most played lists...
To these songs feel so different and yet so similar. Both songs are, obviosusly, about the end of the world, and how the MC is fighting and trying to carry it, but the difrrence is that in the OG WotW, the Mc is alone and regretting the fact she couldn't save people precious to her.... after fighting on her own. She feels as if she's the only one that could carry it. But, on the other version? It's like WE are ALL carrying it together and fighting for it. Not so long into it, when you said they were calling back, to me it was like when a battalion says "we will be the victors!" and the battalion agrees stating they WILL be victors. This song, to me, is a song about carrying this huge load TOGETHER. A few weeks ago I read a comment on the og version of WotW: End of Yrha: "the weight of the world isn't so heavy when we carry it together". This song is just about that.
That harp is playing the most iconic sound of ff14, It's Prologue, the theme you hear whenever you boot a numbered FF title, and several non-numbered ones too.
As of making this comment, I haven't even played a Nier game; that being said I still can't hear this song without tearing up. There's only been a few songs that have done that to me period, and most of those I had context/experience for(Answers from FFXIV, Pain from Xenosaga Episode 1 as examples), this song is absolutely a giant ball of emotion.
Nier: Automatais probably in my top 10 videogames, minus the plot and the gameplay of the game it's up there for its soundtrack alone! Being able to re-experience this particular piece re-imagined in FFXIV was an absolute joy as well. Great Video as always!
what i could gather from hearing this song for so many years is that each language represents a part of the world the 8 bit for the digital, the internet the 3 most famous languages in every continent to represent people in society one indigineous language close to extintion to represent the primitive people that are still out there and the chaos language to represent the characters of the game All of this to say that we are all connected, and we are all carrying the weight of the world, but that doesn't mean we need to carry it alone. None of us are alone in this world. And it's so well made like the other versions tell the opposite, that we are alone, that this world is broken, that it has no hope... But if you keep playing, sacrifice your save(giving help to others) this version plays, and in the version where there are more people participating, more people to help you sing, when you are not alone anymore, it turns into something to keep you moving foward. The nier team is genius, from game director to song writers, they are amazing.
since Emi Evans is singer of Nier themes I may suggest checking her song from different game where she done amazing job. Armageddon (alternative name Grand Order HL theme) from Granblue Fantasy. Overall Granblue Fantasy have lots of amazing song (despite being mobile game) but I won't flood you with title requests. One a time and if you may enjoy it and want some suggestion I'm pretty sure Granblue players will be happy to share some great titles
My first time doing this raid was one I wont forget. I definitely died a few times just taking in the music and atmosphere of the whole thing. Was a seriously amazing experience.
I never finished Nier Automata, it just didn't grab my attention at the time but now I want to play it again. And one of those reasons is because of the Nier Raids in FFXIV. The fight against 9S just was an amazing experience with the music just getting your emotions pumping. I also use the Nier mount constantly just to hear the music over and over. music is just amazing
The way I see the 8-bit sounds at the start is, it's a transition from the sound of a game to the more realistic sounds - which is to say that the messages and ideas represented in the game should be taken to reflect real life. It's a way to bridge the themes of the game from their character to the player, especially considering this song plays during what is essentially a fourth wall break.
I felt the hopelessness, the despair, and the burden that the song carries. But through all that, we still have to move on.... even if it's meaningless, even if our prayers and hope never truly reaches anywhere or anyone, because that is part of being alive. Sometimes, life is meaningless, but that is too... the meaning of life. The contradictions is what being human are, we wants to love yet we hate, we wants peace yet we wage war, we want to help yet we do nothing, etc.
I remember my heart sinking the second the choir of deceased players joined in. I had gotten insanely far in the credits solo before being overwhelmed and dying so it really felt like an army of allies was saving me. The original feels like a desperate plea for salvation wheras the FFXIV version feel like the whole crew is ready to kick some ass and the boss isn't ready for who and what it is about to go toe-to-toe with.
I would recommend you check out the Persona super live concert on youtube, not to react to but take into consideration when talking about video game music appreciation. The energy of it is on a completely different level, and its a different kind video game music love. Well to me its just seems like its different, but still amazing.
The ff14 Weight of the World (Prelude version) is just so freaking amazing. One of the best music's that i ever heard... but ofc the original weight of the world both japanase/engilsh version is just so amazing too . Its iconic and gives you such good feelings . Rise your spirit and its like giving you hope. Both version is master piece for sure!
One of my favorite aspects of FF14 music is how they incorporate chorus. Many times it’s musically the voice of the players or the groups of people suffering from actions or during the actions of a fight. So the chorus during the copied factory feels very aggressive and even triumphant in places like it’s everyone working together to take down a common foe. For more on my thesis of ff14 chorus as suffering see the heavensward trailer. To their trespass We are Witness Here to pass this Final sentence It’s the people of Ishgard crying out against the dragons. The Dragons have their own chorus vocalizations in another language responding to the ishgardians. In a realm reborn trailer the chorus voices are those fighting under the moon of Dalamud. Stormblood it’s the people suffering in Ala Mihgo and Doma. All of the themes come back in the Endwalker trailer and you can pick out all the themes and voices including a few new ones like Venat at Sharlayan which hints at a part of the MSQ. All this to say. I love FF14’s music and I’m glad someone else is examining it.
For me, the 8 bits part of the end of yorha is ties to the end credit of the ending e which is where this song played spoiler ahead It start from 8 bits as it is just a non sentient support pod. Then as the pod explaining it sense a collective consciousness had formed between it and othe pods the 8 bits start turning into vocal solo. In the end as the support from other players arrived the solo turns into a choir.
Dayum... Weight of the World always makes me tear up! It's such a powerful song, I love it! And the whole NieR Story is so great! During this beautiful song I took a look if I would have enough fabric for a 2B Cosplay XD (sadly not)
I love your channel so much you deserve a million subscribers! Thank you for your work! (and pls do more Nier Replicant music ;-; I think you would like to analyze Cold Steel Coffin and Temple of Shifting Sands)
A whole game with unintelligible Chaos language, only to culminate in a song sung in a myriad of intelligible words uniting together. An outcry of humanity in a desolate world.
Both versions are incredible, that said I think weight of the world (prelude) is done so bloody well. I will never forget the moment the chorus kicks in for first time in the middle of that raid, I very goosebumps just recalling it 😂 masterpiece! Edit: I really wish I hadn't clicked on this video, i really want to play Nier Automata again now! 😂
Hi Marco, i would love to listen to The skies above from the black mages, is an amazing and beautifull song, to this day, this song brings me to tears for the final fantasy X backgrounds history. Cheers from Argentina!
Don't forget if you're seeing this in July of 2022 that I will be streaming NieR: Replicant in July. Starting 7/5/22
Also, here's my original Japanese Version Reaction video to Weight of the World: ruclips.net/video/iAFzDNmPr-g/видео.html
can't wait i heard that the game was amazing
@@Style_224 It basically makes you question the way of your life and meaning of existence.
You should play Drakengard 1 for the real Yoko Taro Experience.
I think the audience would REALLY enjoy it.
have you covered or touch upon ashes of dreams (NieR)?
its on the top 5 of video game music for me along with Answers (FFXIV), suteki da ne (FFX), small two of pieces (xenogears) and baba yetu (Civ4)
I'm definitely gonna watch it.
The End of Yorha feels like the ultimate version of: "Thank you for playing"
So true
ah... that reminds me again of the time when I finishes the game.
"It might feels pointless, but don't give up! We're all in this together!"
"When you feel like giving up, just remember! You are not alone!"
"Don't give up! Because we also went through it! so you can too!"
"Even if it's meaningless, Believe in yourself! We'll be waiting for you at the end!"
Well, the multiple languages also speaks to the encouragement we are getting from all over the world as we fail and fail again in the end....
If you played the game though to (E)nd of Yourha you probably have tears in your eyes whenever you hear it too. 🌍🌎🌏
That ending manipulated me into deleting my save files to help others. FOUR TIMES ALREADY
Because it is
Remember: the weight of the world isn't that heavy if we're all here to carry it with you together.
"It might feel impossible, but remember, we're all in this together!" -
@@HenSt-gz7qj Glory to Mankind!
But everyone is dead XD
Bruh.
One aspect I really love about End of Yorha is that the last lyrics you can hear are "but the truth is that I'm only" and then the rest gets drowned out by the choir. She is no longer only one girl.
Damn, I never caught that! Omfg, that makes the song so much better!
And now I'm crying again
A nice touch is that the FFXIV one's lyrics are in the proprietary language of the game. It's adding Eorzean Common to the various languages sung within Weight Of The World.
I love all the versions and have heard them all many times and never noticed that. But I've never played FF XIV
This song still hurts so much, it doesn't help that I associated it with my own life experiences during that time, but I keep coming to it because there's still something comforting about it :(
Kids, don't play this game if you're going through some rough shit.
@@xubikiltro5263 I counter that with:
Play this game if you are going through rough shit. (As someone who lost his dad not long before playing this the first time.) If helps you find hope when you felt there was none.
@@Lrbearclaw Oh damn, I'm really sorry for your loss, glad this game helped you during that. "Games are [not] silly things"
@@Lrbearclaw I mean play OMORI when you are going through rough things…
The best part of early, big chorus version of the song in all languages -- it plays at a point when it represents you as being aided in doing something by all of the game's other players across the planet who played online. Each player who helped you deleted their save file and all of their work to do that. The message behind the song is one of togetherness and games being more than "silly little things".
I feel like the FFXIV version continues the song's theme of "the truth is that I'm only one girl" with "but there are 23 others like me fighting here together".
@@Janzeleus ...And 2P.
@@Lrbearclaw thank you for pointing that out! I never realized it being in "forspoken" indicated we Eorzeans were adding our voices to the chorus
A cool story about this song is Emi Evans (the writer/performer of the "chaos language") sang a verse in the critically endangered Chamicuro language where there are only a handful of indigenous people who speak the language left in the whole world.
It's moving, beautiful, and bittersweet.
Can you please help me find it ?
Fun fact: the choir part is actually from the creators.
This is probably the most emotional scene and yet all you see is the end credits.
Nier Automata is a masterpiece.
I'm. Not crying, you're crying 😭
I will never understand how yoko taro made the best part of his game THE END FREAKING CREDITS
@@kishinslayer2228 Well he also put opening credits after 25 hours of gameplay, for some people 40-50hours in true story has just began lol.
I feel the 8 bit version is a universal language of digital information. Math is universal, computer code being 0s and 1s. It is a way of feeling the music that can be transcended beyond language.
the 8 bit for the digital
the 3 most famous languages in every continent to represent people in society
one indigineous language close to extintion to represent the primitive people that are still out there
and the chaos language to represent the characters of the game
All of this to say that we are all connected, and we are all sharing the weight of the world.
I gotta say I deleted 3 of my saves for the players out there knowing that someday that save will be deleted as it dies.
Hope the player who receives my help enjoyed their time playing this wonderful game ❤️❤️❤️
Much love to u Marco for sharing this ❤️
its cool and sad at the same time that one day someone wont be able to have help at the end... Just like the first person who beat the whole game...
@@valenten89 Did the first person to beat the game actually have to do it solo, or were there messages from the dev team?
Thanks for the comparison. "End of YorHa" song will hit you super hard when you experience it during Ending E. Spectacular game to say the least.
Can’t wait to get to E :) I got to C
i still tear up just thinking about it sometimes honestly, it's one of the most moving and profound experiences in all of gaming.
Ending E is my number 1 video game moment I wish I could delete from my memory and experience for the first time over and over again. The moment you "get help" and the full chorus comes in is unmatched for me in musical/thematic resonance in video games, other than maybe like the final trial of Endwalker.
Bonuspoints if you know that the chorus are the people that worked on N;A in the squenix studio
yeah getting your ass kicked by Business department, and then chorus and help from random strangers comes in... damn I wish I could relive it as well and I finished N:A like 6 times (A through E endings)
Speaking of Kainé, maybe you could do the same, comparing the Nier and the FFXIV variant! Those are...wow, i cannot describe how they did it in XIV.
I will :)
I played some FFXIV Nier raids the other day and had this song in my head and had no idea what it was called until now... FINALLY!
The seamless transitions between the different languages in the song are so masterfully done that at times I don’t even realize it’s another language, I just hear it and feel like I know the words and enjoy the song.
i know!
It goes so far as being like... whatever is the last fight you'll have to fight your whole life, it's what you'd want the music to be.
same, never played nier before, but even not knowing whats going i cried so hard man. So beautiful omg
let me tell ya, hearing this at the end of NieR...
Holy shit. The game does so much to make you feel hopeless and empty after the "last fight."
And then *THIS* track and sequence completely change everything.
The Japanese version is more from 9s point of view (maybe a bit of 2b's view also), while the English one, for me, is more of A2
@@chrismok1663 hence why I connect more with The english one
When i heard this song first time, i cried like a little crushed girl.😭 But, i like it more when you're talking in the process, like, after every parts of the song (after every verse for example). It adds dynamic in the process and makes me want to watch the whole video not just parts even if it's harder to edit. Because, you know, i can listen the song all by myself, and i watch your video for your comments, just like the most of the others i guess. Also, i think people likes it even more when you giving us a review of the song and add some professional words about songs lyrics and vocal, because this is separating you from the other music reaction channel and makes us more involved. In any case, that's great video, buddy, i had a great time watching it, Thank you.😁
Most of the time that’s what I do 🥲 I’ve already covered this so I didn’t go in as much detail!
A feeling to never give up because there always will be people out there to help you and fight for you
"I'm with you, don't give up!"
"You're stronger than you realize. Keep going!"
"Your journey is not over. I know you can make it!"
I cried.
That’s what I meant 👍
Combining the talents of Keichi Okabe and Soken = god tier music.
Another more obscure work from keichi is Prelude of Showdown from the mobile game SINoALICE. Has the same feel as the nier ost
Like bread and butter, they work so well together
Thanks for sharing ❤️
I mean FFXIV and Nier (Drakengard too) have arguably the best OST in gaming. And combining the two means you’re guaranteed a masterpiece.
The FF song you're thinking of is known alternately as Prelude or Crystal Theme.
I had not heard the FFXIV version before, got shivers through my body throughout the whole song
so good right?
@@MarcoMeatball Yeah, totally!
Love what you do - love this song. Thanks for sharing and speaking your thoughts.
Thank youuuuuuu!
Man…you could start a ELEGANT podcast about listening to orchestras to video games or even from movies! I recently found you, really thinking your podcast would be popular!
❤️ have considered it ❤️
One of the few songs I can't listen to without tearing up, it's a warm cathartic hug from and for the developers and the player base alike.
The fact you reacting nier ost while the game just announced on the switch is amazing
i know.... :D
It also could be that at their core (literally) Androids and the Machine Lifeforms are the same. (Spoilers?)
Which is a bunch of different languages.
mhm all versions really are great.
:)
I'm yet again moved by a song, my NieR fan heart feels the Weight of the World once more!
its been years, but the emotional weight and nostalgia wave from this song still makes me tear up.
Best part is that it's sung with the language of the World. That being Eorzean Common
Not ashamed to say that ending E made me cry... a lot.
By the end of the raid series, as I stared down at the desolated Shinjuku, I felt that I've finally brought glory to mankind. :)
This song always makes me cry a little bit. It’s dumb, and beautiful. Video games rule.
It’s not dumb, it’s human :). Don’t put yourself down for feeling. ❤
Big loves.
I do sometimes......hehe.
I adore this song! Great choice Marco!
me too! :)
Such a great crossover piece! Has the best bits and fits so incredibly well!
It really is, can't wait to dive into the subtleties of Kaine
This song never fails to give me goosebumps and make me all teary eyed. It is just so impactful
"Will you help others, even if they can never thank you"
Nier Automata its the first game that made me cry while being on the creidts...
Every time this song starts without fail ill get goosebumps. Its crazy to think just how big of an impact this game has had on me.
One of my all time highlights of playing games was the singalongs that happened in the chat during the raid and the superpowers it grants ❤️
I think the 8-bit start marks how what's happening is unique to video games as a medium.
Nier: Automatais probably in my top 10 videogames, minus the plot and the gameplay of the game it's up there for its soundtrack alone!
Being able to re-experience this particular piece re-imagined in FFXIV was an absolute joy as well. Great Video as always!
If you're expecting a comment than sorry, too busy crying right now. Curse you, Nier music! Beautiful, thank you for that on this Thursday morning.
what i could gather from hearing this song for so many years is that each language represents a part of the world
the 8 bit for the digital, the internet
the 3 most famous languages in every continent to represent people in society
one indigineous language close to extintion to represent the primitive people that are still out there
and the chaos language to represent the characters of the game
All of this to say that we are all connected, and we are all carrying the weight of the world, but that doesn't mean we need to carry it alone.
I also use the Nier mount constantly just to hear the music over and over. music is just amazing
sometimes, youtube kills the mood of some videos, got an ad right at the drop... like omfg!!!1
😂
No matter when I hear weight of the world….. it just grabs me and refuses to let go, and won’t let me stop crying
Catchy tunes! Great video.
Absolutely
Deceased???!!
To their trespass
We are Witness
Here to pass this
Final sentence
It’s the people of Ishgard crying out against the dragons.
Cuando lo escuché esta pieza musical me llegó ( junto con los diálogos que salían )
This song still able to make me cry even after i play it may time
Weight of the World (Prelude Version) is the reason I started playing FFXIV
For me, the 8 bits part of the end of yorha is ties to the end credit of the ending e which is where this song played
spoiler ahead
It start from 8 bits as it is just a non sentient support pod.
Thank you so much Tibor! I am going to i promise :)
When it starts with "but I'm only one girl" and then becomes a chorus of "only one girls" right in the feels
