What you heard was the Japanese version of the song. The English version is sung by J'nique Nicole, and the Chaos Language version by Emi Evans. All of them are credit songs for one of the possible endings of the game. There's also an ensemble version that plays in the final ending :). AmaLee and Peter just did a cover for it.
The singer did actually start crying from how emotional she got while singing, and she apologized for "ruining the recording". The director liked the recording so much that he decided to use it for the game. Every time you beat this game you get an ending labeled A-E, and ending B uses this version of the song. The English version is used for Ending A. Also even though the song sounds the same in both versions, the lyrics are completely different. The English version is sung from 2B's perspective, and the Japanese version is from 9S's perspective. 👍
I'm not sure about perspectives, but for me English version is more about A2 and Japanese is about 2B. Knowing 9S personality it's a bit hard to imagine so pure song from his perspective (especially in C and D endings)
I don't know about the perspectives thing. J'Sique Nicole not only sang the English version but also wrote it's lyrics, and besides some vague pointers on what kinds of things it should say, she's said that she wrote the lyrics with no info at all about the greater context that the song was to fit into.
An absolutely emotionally crippling song, even more so for those who’ve played through the game. You can tell how much the singer put into this with actual tears being shed. Truly a beautiful piece of music from one of the best soundtracks gaming has to offer.
So much passion was put into this game by everyone involved. You can just feel the raw feelings in every moment you're playing. Automata is just great.
@@GOTGames I'm months late, but this game is truly an EXPERIENCE. It's very /existence/ is a bit of a miracle, cause the series is spawned out of was so, SO damned niche back in the PS2 and PS3 era
Nier has some of the most memorable and insane soundtracks and has won soundtrack of the year award. The one you reacted to has actual lyrics but most of Nier’s ost are in “chaos language”, which is a whole new language made for the game and they are nothing short of amazing despite not knowing the meaning of them. The game is also really ethereal and it surfaces multiple thought-provoking questions to players as you play the game, with the game revolving around how hope can still be found within pitch black darkness. It is one of the most beautiful game I have played. Do try to avoid spoilers in the comments because the game is really something you should experience first hand. Below are some FYI for you: 1. The Japanese singer actually cried when singing the song at Nier ost live concert. 2. The ost Song of the Ancient from Nier was played at the olympics in Japan.
Also fun fact Nier Automata won the soundtrack of the year award while being up against Persona 5 which was reacted on here several times already. I love both but Nier really just broke me with some of those songs
Yes this is in the game. There is no original version as all are part of the game. The English version is for the first set of credits, this one is the second and there is a third version is a mix of English, Japanese, and Chaos (Fictional but based on French in this song) languages. The singer in this version is Marina Kawano (yes she was crying at the last part), J'Nique Nicole does the English one and Emi Evans does the Chaos. There are live concerts of them all doing this. I think you mentioned AmaLee was the singer but they did a cover of this from what I can tell.
Marina Kawano actually did cry at during the studio recording, it wasn't necessarily part of the intended execution but was kept in for what it adddd. Also for the English version while Ama Lee is very good, you need to check out J'Nique Nicole who did the offical version, she knocks it out of the park and owns it.
The AmaLee version is a cover (still very good), but the J'Nique Nicole version is the one you want. Or the Ending E version which has parts of all three languages. Plus, if you are considering covers, I'd recommend the Skar Productions version. It's also very good. I've come to think of the official version as the 2B version of the song and his version as the A2 version.
The Nier: Automata OST is a treasure trove of amazing music, "Amusement Park", "Pascal", "A Beautiful Song", "Become as Gods/Birth of a Wish"", "Possessed by Disease", "Bipolar Nightmare", "Weight of the World" just to name a few
The original English version is sung by Jnique Nicole. She helped write the English lyrics, adapted from the Japanese version. The words in Japanese are similar through much of the song, but can be quite different in some parts. The part where she starts crying in the Japanese version, the lyrics are (Loosely and possibly poorly translated as) "[Sou bokura wa ima, a muimi demo negau, tada kimi to no mirai wo]; And so as we are right now, even though this wish is meaningless, I still want a future with you;" "[Sou bokura wa ima, a mukachi demo sakebu, kono yogoreta sekai no ai]; And so as we are right now, although my screams are useless, I love this filthy world;" "[Sou bokura wa ima, a muimi demo negau, tada kimi to no jikan wo]; And so as we are right now, even though this wish is meaningless, I want more time with you;" "[Inori ga yurushi wo erare zutomo... boku wa]; I pray that you can forgive... me" These lyrics are STARKLY different from the English version, which has an almost reverent hopeful tone, while these lyrics are far more dark. One of the lyrics that always gets me is "[kore ga boku no noroi yakusoku korosu itami ga]; This is my curse, it's the pain of killing a promise" Just frikkin rough, mate...
The English version is by J'Nique Nicole, not AmaLee. And I'd really recommend you listen to it! It's actually probably the "main" version as well. Also, Peter Hollens has nothing to do with the composition. The composer is Keiichi Okabe.
The entire Nier soundtrack is exceptional, and they did an amazing job dynamically blending it into the game. There was something like 8 versions of nearly every track so they can swap between versions based on what is happening in the game. For example, a quieter version if you are walking around, a more intense version if you are in combat, a glitching version if you are low on health, a chiptune version if you are in the hacking minigame, etc. Weight of the World is the theme that plays during the ending credits. The somber yet beautiful music fits the emotions at the end of the game very well. I know you have talked about doing the occasional game stream. I would definitely recommend putting Nier into the running for that. (Also, Ayunda Risu has had some good karaoke covers of this song)
Nier Automata is a hell of an emotional ride and the story itself isn't something I can describe with anything but amazing. OST is amazing, gameplay amazing story amazing (and heartbreaking) peak jrpg
While I love Amalee and Peter Hollen's version you should still listen to the official English Version. There is quite a few different official version of this song. Also as a side note: Once you dive into JRPG music you'll notice a lot more songs like this are indeed in video games. Because they are story heavy games they usually pick songs to match the quality of the story that is/was told.
I always get emotional whenever the japanese singer gets to the quivering/breaking her voice part. I can feel the heaviness of the chest (i assume that's what she also felt at that part). And also i associate it to the game, which is VERY emotional on its own. This is a masterpiece game, from its philosophical themes and delivered perfectly by the OST.
Dude my eyes start to water every time i hear her start crying while singing, it's beautiful and is even deeper when reading the lyrics. I highly recommend listing again with lyrics!
You are correct. is a game and later an anime. Is one of those works where you have both the sexyness on the characters phisique and the mind-bending plot that starts simple and wholesome and ends as a soul-wrecking experience that you enjoy suffering and enjoying. Also, a you experienced it already, the music is exquisite
I know this is really unrelated to this video, but my god... I don't think I've endorsed Vinland Saga enough. it has me by the brain and won't let go. this season is literally one of the best seasons of television I have ever watched, period. Golden Kamuy is my constant recommendation because it is a well rounded experience and the best time I've had watching anime with friends, but Vinland Saga is almost too much to watch around other people... it's so jam packed with themes and emotional heavy beats, and everything hits perfectly with maximum effectiveness. I just need to pop in here and say... it is a masterpiece, I am obsessed, and it became an instant favorite of mine as soon as I found it. telling someone to watch it is just an expression of care at this point, like, I want you to see something good.
A beautiful song. If you want others from Nier Automata, i'd recommend "Emil (Despair)", "Song of the Ancients (Atonement)", and above all "Emil's Shop"
I do recommend the english version to get a better grasp of the lyrics, though in my opinion the japanese vocals are unmatched. Yes the singer literally cries lol. I would also recommend another version of the song, called "The End of Yorha". I'll let you find out about that one :) (And yeah, I haven't watched the anime yet so I don't know if they put the song in, but it's from the game originally)
This song plays at the end credits of the game, or well, at every ending. The game has 5 different endings and every ending gets a different version of this song. There's japanese, english, chaos (an invented language for the games universe) and a mixed version of all three. (Also, neither Amalee nor Peter Hollens have any official connection to this song. Maybe they did covers? I don't know, but they didn't sing any of the official versions.) Thanks alot for reacting to this one, it's a very touching song, especially with the game's story in mind (to keep it short, main plot points are existentialism, the meaning of life and how to cope with death). On another note, I have to try, once again, to recommend the band Mrs. Green Apple to you. I just think you'd really enjoy their music (I think you've already heard one of their songs, they did an OP for the Fire Force anime). I'd recommend Soranji, Boku no koto and Que sera sera (though they have so many amazing songs, it's hard to chose). Have a wonderful day! :D
Nier has some of the most emotional tracks and believe me..when story grabs you and you dash at enemy wanting to kill them for 1 reason or another..ost like that is PERFECT for fast pace combat BECAUSE it gives combat 100x more meaning
This song plays during the credits of the game, and there are multiple different versions based on the various endings of the game. (There's also a remix in Final Fantasy 14 that is really good too.) Nier (both Automata and the first game) have a lot themes like this, not just during cutscenes or endings. Just basic overworld themes can hit your emotions hard. Nier genuinely has one of the best OSTs of all time, and it would be great to get some more reactions to other songs. (Kaine's Salvation is a personal favorite of mine.) If you're interested in reacting to more versions of Weight of the World I would recommend the End of Yorha version, which is the final final song of the game and mixes all the versions together, plus some fun surprises. They also did a live orchestra version a few years back. Might be worth checking that out if you want something a little different.
This song always brings tears to my eyes and yes it is from the game It's a credit game OST but what makes it special is you control a little ship and you have to destroy the credits and if you die a couple times, other ships will join to help you That would be something meaningless but the other ships are other people's save files, that basically put their file for sacrifice to help others beat the credits level, helping you carry the weight Beautifull The emotional part relates to the ending and overall story of the game, you had to play it to understand
Such a beautiful soundtrack. This is one of 4 versions. They play as credit songs for the games multiple playthroughs. As each playthrough is different, so are the lyrics and languages.
NO WAY, NO WAY, NO WAY! DUDE. OUT OF EVERY SONG I’VE RECOMMENDED TO YOU, THIS IS THE ONE I HAVE WANTED YOU TO REACT TO THE MOST! THANK YOU SO MUCH, LUKE!
Nier Automata is full of amazing OSTs you will for sure enjoy reacting to. This game is an absolute masterpiece, I tear up only by seeing some of the scenes and music, and the ending truly broke me. I hope you'll react to "A Beautiful Song" OST. 💜
Weight of the World... I've rarely seen a title reflect perfectly what it should. Playing the game, you realize the Weight of the World around you, and when you hear that song, at the final moments of the game... You were already fragile then... But this destroys you emotionally. There is another, different, and more whole version you can listen to, it would however contain some spoilers as it is an Ending Ost. Check out Nier Automata ENDING E credits.
The music plays during one of the endings of the game (and yes she actually cried during it). The true english version is sing by Jnique Nicole and is played during another ending. However there is a version of the song called "End of Yorha" played during the true ending and is even more emotionnal. I recommand you check every version 😂. Thanks you for everything you make 😉
Gaming soundtracks are highly underrated in my eyes in general, some soundtracks are my personal favorites of all times because they have a certain depth I usually don't get in regular songs. The gaming soundtracks of Nier and Silent Hill are my go to songs I hear regulary even after years because they are so emotional just like the games
Weight Of The World pefectly illustrate the mood of the game, btw the whole OST of the anime is from the game (somes get adapted for the anime), the anime is an alternate version of the game story (which already have different ending and path)
This song has four official different versions in the game, the first one you hear when you play it is the English one sung by J'nique Nicole. If you're going to listen to this song in English, please pick that one, J'nique has an absolutely beautiful unique voice, I'm sure you'd love it. Also, AmaLee had nothing to do with the making of Nier Automata's OST, she only did covers.
You should listen to the OST named "A Beautiful Song" from NieR Automata this one is a Boss battle theme song and it's truly worth to listen. Well the whole track from Nier Automata and Nier Replicant/Gestalt (the prequel) is wonderfull.
NierAutomata has many beautiful songs. This song is played for the credits when you completed a route. At first I actually didn't really like this song but it really is growing on me. The eng version is sung by J'Nique Nicole I believe.
This is one of my favorite songs! I even went to see the orchestra concert for the Nier Series! This song is an absolute masterpiece! So happy you got to react to this song! 🎶💖 Yes please react to the English version and I think then you would understand the meaning of the emotions to the singer as well. The creator for the series Yoko Taro really loves to play with the players emotions and as to why you may have different waves of emotions even thru the music which was most notably composed by Keiichi Okabe.
It's from the game, it was first presented to players as tit bit of the ost throughout the journey, just as something like "oh wow very good back ground music". Then it plays at the final scene of the game(a mind blowing moment that fuse game mechanic, story and music together). The title "weight of the world" became literal when(minor spoiler ahead): the player-not the in game characters is asked to make an important choice with consequences affecting everyone else playing the game around the whole world, and you can see other players names from Chinese/Japanese/ Italian/American.... pop up in your game... players that made that choice.
I started watching this man's videos about a year ago, since then i always wondered what would be the feeling of reacting to this specific song , i did not expect the emotional time stop it was for him; im glad it finally happened. Hopefully we can have a game reaction of this. Great video bruh, keep doin your stuff✌🏻
I watch you reactions every day, I love how you get always emotionally invested. Without context this song is pretty, but Nier: Automata is definitely the kind of game where context elevates the impact to completely another level. I really, really hope you react to more Nier content, it's one of a kind! And, it has won the best game soundtrack of the year awards, too. For a reason.
As amazing as this version is, there is one better. 'Weight of the World (End of Yorha Version)' takes the English, Japanese and the fictional Chaos language and combines them all into the same song. It also has the entire development team participating in the background vocals. You should really listen to this version also.
This song and kimi no kioku/memories of you from Persona 3 always make me tear up and cry because the lyrics are so goddamn powerful, especially when you played the games.
If you love the Nier OST you would love Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru anime OST as its the same composer. Two of my favorite songs from the OST is "11 Stars 5 Flowers" by Keigo Hoashi & Nakagawa Nami and "United Petals" by Keiichi Okabe & Keigo Hoashi. Would love a reaction for both of them.
they have 3 language of this song and each have different lyrics. Also this one is more of the ending song, each version played on different endings. Also most people bawled their eyes out when the mixed version played on the true ending, while cursing the marketing department Also I would suggest trying Song of the Ancient as well as Emil(Emil had a lot of version tho, like sacrifice/despair etc)
(Weight of the World Vocalists) Emi Evans - Chaos Language (A language from the series itself, she's done numerous songs for the Nier franchise) J'Nique Nicole - English Version (Also provides vocals for numerous songs in Nier: Automata) Marina Kawano - Japanese Version (Specifically for Weight of the World) Weight of the World: End of YoRHa - All three vocalists are featured. (I don't recall the order off the top of my head. I think J'Nique Nicole provides Ending A, where as Emi provided Ending B, and Marina provided Ending C.) (I was incredibly confused when you mentioned Ama Lee, I'll take a wild guess and say it was a cover, not officially (she's never done work on the Nier franchise, I'm just clarifying, big Ama Lee fan over here XD).)
From my experience: - TV shows and movies typically have only have one or two sets of OSTs that's used for an entire series and they're usually average or are just remixed pop songs. - Anime usually have multiple unique and amazing sets of OSTs, but from what I've seen, most don't really add entirely new OSTs in the following seasons and either reuse or remix the OSTs from the first season. - Games (especially ones that are open world or have plenty of levels) usually have different OSTs for each region/level, each boss battle, each cutscene, each character, and even for some named NPCs.
Nier Automata is a game from Yoko Taro (best game director ever) that came out in 2017. Nier Automata Ver1.1a is the newest project of the series and has the intention to expand the game's story
You really should listen to the eng version, or the live orchestrated performance if its on youtube its so good. Also, this is the final boss theme, i have such intense memories of this sequence such a cool moment in gaming.
The english version and the japanese version are entirely different. Just by the title of english being Weight of the World and the japanese being Song of a Broken World you get different vibes.
This song resonates with all us Automata veterans. Now, let me blow your mind. Final Fantasy XIV did a crossover raid with NieR, known as YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse. The raids used a lot of Automata music, but of special note was the final boss music for each of the three tiers. The first was a remixed version of Weight of the World, that was blended with the traditional Final Fantasy Prelude. I assure you, hearing this mix kicking in, and after taking a moment for realization (there is a vastly different tempo), this remixed theme destroyed any of us Automata vets to the point it was hard to focus on the actual fight. I can highly recommend it. It's known as "FF XIV: Weight of the World (Prelude)". Heck, it still wrecks me a bit when I pull that raid in my daily roulettes.
Oh yes, definitely react to the English version! In a way, it's just like "Idol" from YOASOBI. You listen to the original version, then play the game, listen to the english version, and finally understand why it's so emotional. Other Nier Automata OSTs you should check out: - A Beautiful Song - Copied City - Song of the Ancients (Atonement) - The Tower - Amusement Park - City Ruins (Rays of Light) - Memories of Dust
A disappearing salvation A body that no longer moves And the sky is still so dark A clock that has stopped A machine that will no longer ring A voice that won't reach This is my curse The depth of the sins I've committed Your wish Embracing the stained soul It's just an atonement Yes, even though it is worthless, we still Sing the song of this broken world Yes, even though it is meaningless, we still Pray just for a future, together with you The smile from that day disappears, while still being precious... Overflowing green A life about to spill And the wind is still so far away Bits of rust, peeling off And a squirming blade In a forest, in which death is lurking This is my curse The pain of killing a promise Your wish An atonement for throwing away the last dream Yes, even though it is worthless, we still Shout out our love for this filthy world Yes, even though it is meaningless, we still Pray just for more time with you The sinking consciousness is disappearing, while still being so gentle... Yes, even though it is worthless, we still Sing the song of this broken world Yes, even though it is meaningless, we still Pray just for a future, together with you Yes, even though it is worthless, we still Shout out our love for this filthy world Yes, even though it is meaningless, we still Pray just for more time with you Even if my prayers won't earn me any forgiveness... I still... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The biggest issue I have, is with the pre-chorus part, both of the "This is my curse" bits. I find the grammar there really weird, I would gladly talk to someone from Japan, who could explain to me just WTH is going on there, because I have a really hard time, decoding that...
I had not listening to this song for some years And I started to cry when I heard it again please do the english version and the Nouveau-FR version.(there are totally 3 version for this song) If you have time, you can enjoy the game and the story behind.
Yes, game first, then anime. The anime is stuck in production hell, so I don’t even think it’s gotten to the point where this song happens yet. The game is an absolute masterpiece and has one of the best OSTs in gaming history imo. So, just to clarify, there are 4 versions of this that are all used in different parts of the game, so none of them are the “original.” Basically this is the end credit song for the game, and each time you beat it it’s a different one (you have to beat the game 3 times to get the full story). If I remember correctly, the English and Japanese ones play in the first play through depending on the language settings, then a chaos language one(which was created for the series by one of the singers) and one that combines them. They are all really good. The English one is sung by J’nique Nicole. If Amalee did one, it’s a cover. And yep, the Japanese singer is actually crying in this recording, and it makes a ton of sense if you ever play the game, haha. Highly recommend you check out other music from this game, or better, just go play it even if you don’t stream it.
Finally! It's been 6 years and this is still on my top 3 favorite games ever. One big reason is that it has so many good songs. Weight of the world actually has another version that was sung in Chaos language, definitely worth listening to aswell.
Now the sadness and sorrow arc begins. I think on an emotional level the Emil Shop Song is right at the top it´s comparable to Weight of the World if not even more. I recommend it from the bottom of my heart. Listen to the Japanese version tho for maximum emotion. Other than that Kaine Salvation and Emil Sacrifice are very very good but not from Automata but from the original NieR
One of the absolute best games ever made. No game has had an impact on me as much as Nier Automata. I will defend this game with my life. Absolute masterpiece🛐
I think maybe you haven't played many narrative heavy games? Sometimes when you can't picture a song integrating into gameplay, it's probably because it's in the middle of a 2-10 minute cutscene, which is just one cutscene out of several dozen in the whole game used to delivery the story. There are some games that are more accurately described as movies with gameplay elements but those are extreme cases. Also the official EN version isn't sung by Amalee(she did cover it though), but by J'Nique Nicole who also has some amazing vocals.
Yeah she did just breakdown crying while recording, but instead of recording it again, just like you the Director Yoko Taro was so moved he decided to keep it as is. While you should check out the English ver, sadly there was no crying in that one. As for where it shows up, it plays during some of the credit scenes (there are multiple endings) and I THINK a boss fight or two. This song and the "End of YoRHa" version of it are songs I woulda preferred you heard for the first time while playing the game, but if you don't think you're gonna play it for a while then definitely listen to more songs from this amazing OST! Why's you're channel called GOT "GAMES" if you never play any 😋
The Witcher games also have a glorious soundtrack especially it's action/battle tracks. I often found myself delaying the fights just to jam out to the music XD Though 1 of my favorites is "Gaunter O Dhim's theme" it's and incredibly creepy theme that suits a incredibly creepy character
My dream is to watch you playing Nier Automata...and since your channel is called "G.O.T Games" I don't see why this couldn't happen.....but this probably won't ever happen
There are a lot of these that say "English Version" when they should say "English Cover". AmaLee and Peter Hollins did covers. There's an official English version that is used in the English release of the game. I assume this is the version used in the Japanese version of the game. Yes, the entire soundtrack is this beautiful in game. I'd recommend listening to the English version, but you should absolutely play the game. It's my favorite game of all time.
Please please please. Play this game and upload the vods to RUclips. It's an incredible story and this song makes me cry everytime because it brings back every emotion you feel when playing the game. If you play only 1 game this year then please let it be this
this will comes out of a left field react to "working" op's about neir automata, this sounds like anime only version because game version was dual language , plus it started in game as end credits fighting scene from digitized polyphonic telephone sound and evolved into a very powerfull song over almost 15 minutes it unfolded *edit multilanguage, mening in game it was end credits with every language of the game dialogs overlaping one after another i still love it
The song itself is played doing key moments and less when exploring. But good guesses, honestly I can completely understand if the 1st part was played when you wander around in the game.
I swear to god, this song just hits different for me. Everytime I hear it all the feels just come rushing back to me and I almost start to cry. That game changed me.
You should definitely put some time into listening to the whole OST, it's an absolute masterpiece. Personal favorites of mine are Dependent Weakling and City Ruins (Rays of Light)
This song is amazing, however, this song hits a THOUSAND times harder when you know the context.....which I will absolutely never give you because I think the moment the game plays the final, ultimate version of this song is perhaps the most powerful moment I've ever witnessed in gaming. It was a moment that genuinely took the experience of playing a computer game and elevated it to an art form, a moment of pure beauty and story telling excellence that I doubt will ever be surpassed. In fact, this moment in the game was so intricately tied to the experience of playing a game that it singlehandedly made me think that it might be impossible to turn this into an anime, I still have no clue how they plan to do it justice. I cannot recommend playing this game enough, if only to experience that moment. I'm shedding tears right now just thinking back on it. Oh, and if you start reading a comment that says absolutely ANYTHING about said moment....STOP READING, do not deprive yourself of this experience by having it spoiled for you. Also, yes, this song is from the game, and it's not an exception, all the songs of this game are breathtaking, and they made an amazing choice for the anime by using the exact same songs, they knew what they had.
My fav song 😭 Well, the English and the Japanese ver is have a different lyric actually but the fact that it's different lyric is making listening to both version is more worth it 👌
Weight of the World is the song for the most difficult boss ever created in a game (yes including Dark Souls and Elden Rings). I am of course talking of the "Ending Credit or NieR: Automata." And yes, it is the most difficult battle of the game.
Day 3 of asking Luke to check out the Destiny/Destiny 2 OST Some of my top picks: - The Man They Called Cayde - Journey (this is a must) - Queen’s Oracle - The First Disciple - Sepiks Redux - Deep Stone Lullaby - Oreinophobia - Regicide
Love to see you checking out more Nier stuff, the english version is definitely worth checking out but the vocals are still Emi Evans, he AmaLee one is a cover but there is an official english version. I also recommend checking out Dispossession / Kuroi Uta - Emi Evans ft. Eir Aoi which is from Drakengard and is also partially reused in Nier Replicant as well as the song Ashes of Dreams.
It was a game first as well the game is very action combat based and then they made the anime although at the moment it is on hold from continuing its release of future episodes which I am guessing is regards to covid or some other unfortunate issues.
I dont see why its so hard to believe that videogame ost can sound like this, like gaming hardware is constantly getting better every time new systems comes out so it makes sense we can get tracks like these not to mention that videogame composers are very creative when arranging/composing these tracks especially back in the 80's & 90's
WELL this was AWESOME!!!

I love hearing your thoughts.
Please reaxt to the Star Blazers 2199 intro
Can't talk without pausing the video?
The singer did actually start crying from how emotional she got while singing, and she apologized for "ruining the recording". The director liked the recording so much that he decided to use it for the game. Every time you beat this game you get an ending labeled A-E, and ending B uses this version of the song. The English version is used for Ending A. Also even though the song sounds the same in both versions, the lyrics are completely different. The English version is sung from 2B's perspective, and the Japanese version is from 9S's perspective. 👍
When you now the game this track is more intense 👀
The yorha version with the audience singing gets me
I'm not sure about perspectives, but for me English version is more about A2 and Japanese is about 2B.
The music is awesome Nier’s games are just a masterpiece !
I really want to experience this song in the game as well to properly feel it!
Below are some FYI for you:
1. The Japanese singer actually cried when singing the song at Nier ost live concert.
2. The ost Song of the Ancient from Nier was played at the olympics in Japan.
They really are incredible!!
To add onto this, she apologized for crying during and wanted to re-do the performance, but they decided the emotion made the song even better.
@@youbewonderin Truly a chad decision by Yoko Taro 🧎♂
The AmaLee version is a cover (still very good), but the J'Nique Nicole version is the one you want. Or the Ending E version which has parts of all three languages.
Plus, if you are considering covers, I'd recommend the Skar Productions version. It's also very good. I've come to think of the official version as the 2B version of the song and his version as the A2 version.
😥❤️
The Nier: Automata OST is a treasure trove of amazing music, "Amusement Park", "Pascal", "A Beautiful Song", "Become as Gods/Birth of a Wish"", "Possessed by Disease", "Bipolar Nightmare", "Weight of the World" just to name a few
Every song is amazing, so it’s hard to pick out a few.
dont forget about song of the ancients
I'm very fond of Memories of Dust.
To clarify, Amalee did unofficial covers of the Film Red songs because in English and Japanese Ado’s singing is still used.
When you say english version it sounds like your talking about a cover. There is an actual english version that plays in game, sung by J'Nique Nicole.
The original English version is sung by Jnique Nicole. She helped write the English lyrics, adapted from the Japanese version. The words in Japanese are similar through much of the song, but can be quite different in some parts. The part where she starts crying in the Japanese version, the lyrics are (Loosely and possibly poorly translated as)
"[Sou bokura wa ima, a muimi demo negau, tada kimi to no mirai wo]; And so as we are right now, even though this wish is meaningless, I still want a future with you;"
"[Sou bokura wa ima, a mukachi demo sakebu, kono yogoreta sekai no ai]; And so as we are right now, although my screams are useless, I love this filthy world;"
"[Sou bokura wa ima, a muimi demo negau, tada kimi to no jikan wo]; And so as we are right now, even though this wish is meaningless, I want more time with you;"
"[Inori ga yurushi wo erare zutomo... boku wa]; I pray that you can forgive... me"
These lyrics are STARKLY different from the English version, which has an almost reverent hopeful tone, while these lyrics are far more dark. One of the lyrics that always gets me is "[kore ga boku no noroi
yakusoku korosu itami ga]; This is my curse, it's the pain of killing a promise" Just frikkin rough, mate...
Correction:
[Inori ga yurushi wo erarezu tomo... boku wa...]
Translates to "Even if my prayers won't earn me forgiveness... I [still]..."
Risu best version is the one she literally improv singing during her full playthrough of the game (highly rec btw, it's awesome, simply awesome).
Fr. 6-7 years later and this soundtrack, this song specifically, still manages to make me tear up.
The English version is sung by J'Nique Nicole
A beautiful song. If you want others from Nier Automata, i'd recommend "Emil (Despair)", "Song of the Ancients (Atonement)", and above all "Emil's Shop"
yeees
Emil's shop is pretty much a corrupted file of Emil song
you should try the in-game english version as well it's just as beautiful and helps you get a grasp for the lyrics
Weight of the world is a really fantastic song. The musical direction in the series is superb.
I do recommend the english version to get a better grasp of the lyrics, though in my opinion the japanese vocals are unmatched. Yes the singer literally cries lol. I would also recommend another version of the song, called "The End of Yorha". I'll let you find out about that one :)
(And yeah, I haven't watched the anime yet so I don't know if they put the song in, but it's from the game originally)
Would’ve been better if he reacted to one where he can listen to the Japanese ver. while also having the lyrics to read.
The English version has different lyrics, so it’s not delivered the same.
(There's also a remix in Final Fantasy 14 that is really good too.)
Nier (both Automata and the first game) have a lot themes like this, not just during cutscenes or endings. Just basic overworld themes can hit your emotions hard. Nier genuinely has one of the best OSTs of all time, and it would be great to get some more reactions to other songs. (Kaine's Salvation is a personal favorite of mine.)
If you're interested in reacting to more versions of Weight of the World I would recommend the End of Yorha version, which is the final final song of the game and mixes all the versions together, plus some fun surprises.
They also did a live orchestra version a few years back. Might be worth checking that out if you want something a little different.
Honestly, the entire Nier OST is an actual masterpiece and I'd love for you to react to all of it.
Lets go, NieR has some of the best OST in games!
This song always brings tears to my eyes and yes it is from the game
It's a credit game OST but what makes it special is you control a little ship and you have to destroy the credits and if you die a couple times, other ships will join to help you
That would be something meaningless but the other ships are other people's save files, that basically put their file for sacrifice to help others beat the credits level, helping you carry the weight
Beautifull
The emotional part relates to the ending and overall story of the game, you had to play it to understand
THANK YOU SO MUCH, LUKE!
yeeeees
When her voice starts to go near the end, i start to tear up when you hear the emotions come through
I started watching this man's videos about a year ago, since then i always wondered what would be the feeling of reacting to this specific song , i did not expect the emotional time stop it was for him; im glad it finally happened. Hopefully we can have a game reaction of this.
Great video bruh, keep doin your stuff✌🏻
Nier is a fucking experience. If you ever decide to play it then you will make a memory like no other.
Finally, I have been commenting for you to react to Nier music
If you love the Nier OST you would love Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru anime OST as its the same composer. Two of my favorite songs from the OST is "11 Stars 5 Flowers" by Keigo Hoashi & Nakagawa Nami and "United Petals" by Keiichi Okabe & Keigo Hoashi. Would love a reaction for both of them.
they have 3 language of this song and each have different lyrics. Also this one is more of the ending song, each version played on different endings. Also most people bawled their eyes out when the mixed version played on the true ending, while cursing the marketing department
Also I would suggest trying Song of the Ancient as well as Emil(Emil had a lot of version tho, like sacrifice/despair etc)
(Weight of the World Vocalists)
Emi Evans - Chaos Language (A language from the series itself, she's done numerous songs for the Nier franchise)
J'Nique Nicole - English Version (Also provides vocals for numerous songs in Nier: Automata)
Marina Kawano - Japanese Version (Specifically for Weight of the World)
Weight of the World: End of YoRHa - All three vocalists are featured.
(I don't recall the order off the top of my head. I think J'Nique Nicole provides Ending A, where as Emi provided Ending B, and Marina provided Ending C.)
(I was incredibly confused when you mentioned Ama Lee, I'll take a wild guess and say it was a cover, not officially (she's never done work on the Nier franchise, I'm just clarifying, big Ama Lee fan over here XD).)
From my experience:
- TV shows and movies typically have only have one or two sets of OSTs that's used for an entire series and they're usually average or are just remixed pop songs.
- Anime usually have multiple unique and amazing sets of OSTs, but from what I've seen, most don't really add entirely new OSTs in the following seasons and either reuse or remix the OSTs from the first season.
- Games (especially ones that are open world or have plenty of levels) usually have different OSTs for each region/level, each boss battle, each cutscene, each character, and even for some named NPCs.
the entire OST is worth checking out
Just too good
Nier Automata is a game from Yoko Taro (best game director ever) that came out in 2017.
That's the end credit scene, (the real) final boss theme is Emil's despair.
The english version and the japanese version are entirely different. Just by the title of english being Weight of the World and the japanese being Song of a Broken World you get different vibes.
This song is in the game as well.
It actually won Soundtrack of the Year in 2017 which was no small feat, beating out Persona 5.
It beat P5? That's impressive.
@@lnxrocks Yeah, P5 could win OST GOTY in almost any given year I'm sure.
2:17 Nier Automata got the award of best game soundtrack of the year when it was released 👑
I absolutely recommend doing the entire soundtrack. It is absolutely gorgeous. Marina's genuine emotional break hitting me like a freight train.
Other Nier Automata OSTs you should check out:
- A Beautiful Song
- Copied City
- Song of the Ancients (Atonement)
- The Tower
- Amusement Park
- City Ruins (Rays of Light)
- Memories of Dust
I would like to see the reaction to the opening and ending of the anime Tengoku Daimakyou. Opening: Innocent arrogance - BiSH. Ending: ASOBI Alliance.
A disappearing salvation
A body that no longer moves
And the sky is still so dark
A clock that has stopped
A machine that will no longer ring
A voice that won't reach
This is my curse
The depth of the sins I've committed
Your wish
Embracing the stained soul
It's just an atonement
Yes, even though it is worthless, we still
Sing the song of this broken world
Yes, even though it is meaningless, we still
Pray just for a future, together with you
The smile from that day disappears, while still being precious...
Overflowing green
A life about to spill
And the wind is still so far away
Bits of rust, peeling off
And a squirming blade
In a forest, in which death is lurking
This is my curse
The pain of killing a promise
Your wish
An atonement for throwing away the last dream
Yes, even though it is worthless, we still
Shout out our love for this filthy world
Yes, even though it is meaningless, we still
Pray just for more time with you
The sinking consciousness is disappearing, while still being so gentle...
Yes, even though it is worthless, we still
Sing the song of this broken world
Yes, even though it is meaningless, we still
Pray just for a future, together with you
Yes, even though it is worthless, we still
Shout out our love for this filthy world
Yes, even though it is meaningless, we still
Pray just for more time with you
Even if my prayers won't earn me any forgiveness... I still...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The biggest issue I have, is with the pre-chorus part, both of the "This is my curse" bits.
I find the grammar there really weird, I would gladly talk to someone from Japan, who could explain to me just WTH is going on there, because I have a really hard time, decoding that...
I had not listening to this song for some years
And I started to cry when I heard it again
please do the english version and the Nouveau-FR version.(there are totally 3 version for this song)
If you have time, you can enjoy the game and the story behind.
Automata did a collab with Final Fantasy 14 and that version of 'Weight of the World" is also a banger.
This song never fails to give me goosebumps, no matter what version I listen to. Even some of the covers are really amazing.
Emíl Sacrifice is the one other song you need to listen to if you only react to one more song from this franchise
Why's you're channel called GOT "GAMES" if you never play any 😋
You should for sure either experience the whole thing first hand or react to the third version of this song as that literally broke me while playing
The Witcher games also have a glorious soundtrack especially it's action/battle tracks. I often found myself delaying the fights just to jam out to the music XD
Though 1 of my favorites is "Gaunter O Dhim's theme" it's and incredibly creepy theme that suits a incredibly creepy character
If you play only 1 game this year then please let it be this
Marina Kawano cried during the recordings of this song and they left it in the song as is.
this will comes out of a left field
react to "working" op's
about neir automata, this sounds like anime only version because game version was dual language , plus it started in game as end credits fighting scene from digitized polyphonic telephone sound and evolved into a very powerfull song over almost 15 minutes it unfolded
*edit
multilanguage, mening in game it was end credits with every language of the game dialogs overlaping one after another i still love it
The song itself is played doing key moments and less when exploring. But good guesses, honestly I can completely understand if the 1st part was played when you wander around in the game.
the most perfect song i have ever heard, not only the lyrics but also the rhythm and chorus of this song are amazing!
The English version I listened to at the end of the game made a huge impact on me. I highly recommend it.
My fav song 😭
Well, the English and the Japanese ver is have a different lyric actually but the fact that it's different lyric is making listening to both version is more worth it 👌
"PEACEFULL SLEEP "another imaculate ost from the game nier automata, I always play it on low volume before going to sleep
Weight of the World is the song for the most difficult boss ever created in a game (yes including Dark Souls and Elden Rings). I am of course talking of the "Ending Credit or NieR: Automata." And yes, it is the most difficult battle of the game.
Nier Automata was not only my Game of the Year for me when it came out, it have even one of the best musics in game history!
afaik amalee and peter did covers for this song. there is an actual official english version of this song if you play the game in the english dub
Day 3 of asking Luke to check out the Destiny/Destiny 2 OST
Some of my top picks:
- The Man They Called Cayde
- Journey (this is a must)
- Queen’s Oracle
- The First Disciple
- Sepiks Redux
- Deep Stone Lullaby
- Oreinophobia
- Regicide
As much as I like perfect song where there are no “mistakes” songs with emotions and mistakes sounded more human and somehow I prefer it much more ~
Everything in this game is genius-made. It can only happen once in a lifetime and in a particular moment~
There is also FFIX “Weight of the World - Prelude”, which based off this theme
Amazing game. Easily the best of 2017.
She didn't *sound* like she was crying - she was. They left that cut as the final.
It was a game first as well the game is very action combat based and then they made the anime although at the moment it is on hold from continuing its release of future episodes which I am guessing is regards to covid or some other unfortunate issues.
You should check The End Of Yorha version of this too.
