Yeah, because if anyone makes a mediocre parody, it won't sell. And if it won't sell, forget an anime adaptation, it probably wouldn't even have more than 1 or 2 volumes published (if that)
The questions about the weights were basically explained in the episode though? how he explained about how he wanted to be strong, always trained... but I suppose it's a bit distracting keeping an eye on chat while reading subtitles as well. :P
about the training weights - very well known anime trope. I'm guessing started by DBZ. MC is fighting and losing, and then he reveals he is wearing training weights when he takes them off, goes up a power level, and wipes the floor with his opponents. Let's just say the mc is very much aware of all the popular anime tropes.
I think the most well known example of the "training weights" trope is Rock Lee from Naruto. The scene where he drops his weights is absolutely iconic. Even people who've never seen Naruto know that scene.
It also fits nicely in the beginning to show us not only how Cid got isekai'd, but also his character before as well. I haven't read the LNs so I don't know how the beginning was handled, but I appreciate the anime doing it this way if being out of chronological order wasn't a necessary facet of the story like another isekai series.🕸

19:21 just like you said before, its a parody. The weights are making fun of other anime protagonist who wear weights all the time to train to get stronger, like rocklee in Naruto or literally everyone is dragon ball z
Just be aware while watching that your assumption is right. Eminence in shadow is inherently ironic. It intentionally does not take itself seriously, take it for the fun hilarious ride it is.

"Here's the main guy, and seven beautiful babes" That would be the classic harem tag/genre. Great comedy, great character and character development and an interesting story.

Well no, it's not complete nonsense or brain dead. The world building is actually very well done. Every character is fleshed out and has their own motivations and aspirations that are very clearly shown to the audience. You can get a feel for the personality of every single character. If not for Cid, this would be a very good fantasy story. Eminence in Shadow is a story where you take a functioning fantasy land, with complex politics, civil wars, kingdoms vying for power, characters with complex motivations trying desperately to protect their homeland, and then insert a god made mortal into the story. My favorite LN, but sadly anime adaptation makes some puzzling changes and takes like seven episode, before it starts to resemble the source material with its comedy.
I also love the lightnovel, I would say the anime is better adaption than the manga. Both adaptions makes quite a few changes to the story / lightnovel. I am glad that the anime is adapting the lightnovel and not the manga.
I loved this series, good mix of comedy and action. Not sure if Luke shouldn't have seen more anime before watching this as he may not necessarily get all the jokes and references. He has the best eisaki death, death shouldn't be funny but his was hilarious.
"what about the heavy stuff? Do we just forget about this girl from the first episode" For the rest of season 1, yes. Maybe it'll be explored later down the line in a later season.
FINALLY!! You're watching this show. Also I love how the OP is literally not showing anything close to the actual Plot of the Anime 😆 literally just added characters there
lol that kind of seal on power is hilarious in disastrous like of saiki....he has kind head gadget take it off and he can literally destroy planet accidentally
Its funny you mention thinking he had weighted shoes because he would float away. There is an anime with that exact character and they are the MC. Aquarion EVOL, the MC has the power of Float and has to have weighted shoes or he floats away. Its a Super Power Mecha franchise and its amazzing. Also one of the all time best OST. Look up Aquarion OST with Akino and Yoko Kanno. "Genesis of Aquarion" and "Genesis of Aquarion Accapella" are God Tier OSTs.
Yeah the first season has barely any call backs to the first episode, but to be honest alot of Isekai stories do that which is another parody this story does. Luckily it does get mentioned later on in the story just not in season 1 of the anime.
The first episode was there to play ad a stand alone movie to demonstrate who he hopes to be. There's a main character who has her character arc. She gets captured, stuff happens to her, then this mysterious person who she can never figure out who it is swoops in and rescues her. This mysterious shadowy figure himself can never be the main character, infact, his alter ego will always be relegated to that of the lowly background character. No one will ever know, their mild mannered quiet class mate occupying the protagonists seat in the classroom is actualy.... in fact... the world's strongest being.... dun dun dun!!!! At least that was the idea this dude pursued, living up his angst tean power fantasy.... until truck kun decided to make his dreams come true. That's when the first credits roll, it's a joke, an end to the mini episode we watched, then the real episode begins in the other world, introducing the cast, dropping some Easter eggs for season 3, yes I'm not joking, season 3 Easter eggs, when the show won't be airing season 2 until this fall lmao. And then the OP, which is designed to be nothing like the actual show in any way shape or form plays and there you have it, one of the best non introduction introduction episodes we will ever see, a masterclass really. Now, when watching, this show really does the show and don't tell thing, kranking it to 20. Be sure to pay attention to plot, why characters are where they are, what's happenning, because stuff will be referenced 3-5 episodes apart, or stuff happenning in one scene won't make sense unless you were paying attention to a random conversation from a previous episode, or paid attention to a quick character introduction that was visually cued and not verbally explained. But then if you dig back you will realize the character was verbally explained, only in an out of context way. It's terrible writing, but fun for those who love piecing their anime together, it's all there, might need a note book for this one.
I’ve been meaning to watch this. The manga is so insanely good. Anime holds up to the manga well. Only weird thing is I remember him becoming an adult with Hulk-sized muscles. I didn’t think he died so young. The point of the weights was because he was trying to overcome human limits with training, but he couldn’t in the real world.
Hum, he didn't becomean adult with Hulk-sized muscle in the manga or the light novel, he stop compressing themwhile he was saving the girl and they reached their normal size... which is absolutely stupid but absolute genius at the same time. Also, the manga is, in my opinion, vastly superior to the anime. The anime have great fight scenes and all, but it skip way too much stuff to really understand Cid's character. Almost all of his internal monologues have been cut from the anime, and it is throught those monologue youc an really see and understand his vision of the world and his real goal.
You should try the lightnovel, as it is the material that the anime adapts. The manga is also an adaption of the lightnovel, however, it is worse due to making so many changes of: character design (like the Hulk / Buff Minoru), personality (making Cid looking way to insane), dialogue (adding lines that never were in the lightnovel which gives a different interpretation of the characters personalities). The manga is a comedy, they try to make everything funny. So even the "serious" moments in the lightnovel gets a comedic effect, so I would say the manga ruins the source material. However, many read the manga (due to finding it online for free easily), and then compare it to the anime, when they should compare it to the lightnovel. Manga and anime are both adapting the lightnovel, but they arent "related" directly, so there is no reason to compare the anime to the manga.
YESSS He's watching Eminence, though I wish he can try out Clannad and K-On! too. Only the most OP characters are birthed into Isekai worlds by Truck-Kun : - )
what i love about this anime is no bullshit harem story in it and the MC isn't dickhead like most isekai-harem anime cid doesn't want to be horni / happy, he just need *MORE POWER*
What can I say, except... Sasuga, Shadow-sama! This anime, it's manga and LN are actually more clever than the majority think they are. They are not just a fun parody or a deconstruction. This is a good story with a protagonist who is a lot like Saitama and Goku in many aspects.
@@OmniscientlyMe Same here, I was laughing and crying with every chapter i read, and at that point i was only slightly over 3000 anime series in. (took only 16 years XD)
@@OmniscientlyMe I agree. I thought about recommending TEiS after the finale aired but reconsidered after realizing just how trope heavy the anime actually is. At first I honestly had trouble getting into this anime. I had watched about 3 episodes and thought it just wasn't for me. However, later when there was about 9 or so episodes already available I gave it another chance and after like 5 or 6 episodes I just couldn't put it down anymore (until I run out of episodes), and it became one of my most anticipated shows of its season. I'd say one reason why I had trouble at first was because of my point of view. I didn't realize that it was a parody, and a good one at that. When I changed the way I looked at the anime, and understood what it was doing, it became so much more enjoyable. I'm so looking forward to the second season! This one's gonna be a wild ride and I'm either curious or excited to see what he will think about this anime and what his reactions will be like.

The heavy stuff (Prologue) will be reasonable on 3rd Arc. Season 2 only cover 2nd Arc. Every questions that confusing in first Arc will be reveal on 3rd Arc.
I hate to admit that this show is better than it deserves to be... way better... and I literally stopped reading the manga version because it felt too cringe... but IF you don't take it seriously, it's good af... what the hell
Why would people take it seriously, it doesn't even take itself seriously....
@@jonathanwessner3456 Didn't say it, but I meant for a trashy Isekai, this is helluva good trashy Isekai =)
it is hype that is what I like about this anime
I think what people need to realize is that *its supposed to be cringe.* Chunibiyo in itself is already a cringy persona. 😅
@@AnonymouslyForgottenyeah, I'm confused why people are complaining about the cringe issue when the main premise itself is Cid cringe chunnibyou persona 😂
More peak just like 86 nice back to back picks G.O.T
My favorite LN, but sadly anime adaptation makes some puzzling changes and takes like seven episode, before it starts to resemble the source material with its comedy.
I also love the lightnovel, I would say the anime is better adaption than the manga.
Both adaptions makes quite a few changes to the story / lightnovel.
I am glad that the anime is adapting the lightnovel and not the manga.
@@Canadian_Teemo anime removed pretty much all his internal monologues though so Cid's character is shown wayyyyyy less
I loved this series, good mix of comedy and action. Not sure if Luke shouldn't have seen more anime before watching this as he may not necessarily get all the jokes and references. He has the best eisaki death, death shouldn't be funny but his was hilarious.
19:40 imajine when he eventually watch monogatari series, I think about a year he will see senjougahara-san...
Cid’s VA voiced Raiden from 86
Man oh man, my guy react to some good anime👍
"what about the heavy stuff? Do we just forget about this girl from the first episode"
For the rest of season 1, yes.
Seriously bruh they did the LN justice with this anime. And is it only me who got the monogatari vibes in the intro of this episode
THIS MUST BE IN PRINCIPAL CHANNEL...😢😢😢😢😢😢
Finally... This anime is so good. Will probably rewatch it.
I have read the manga.I think the famous girl will pop up in like season 3.
Cid is in this anime. It couldn't be more safe :P
It's terrible writing, but fun for those who love piecing their anime together, it's all there, might need a note book for this one.
love how he accidentally highlighted the subs and doesn't notice due to ignorance
This episode will come in play in later seasons.
This anime alredy has anounced season 2 and its gets intresting
Oh I can't wait for EXCALIBUR
YESSS He's watching Eminence, though I wish he can try out Clannad and K-On! too.
Only the most OP characters are birthed into Isekai worlds by Truck-Kun : - )
what i love about this anime is no bullshit harem story in it and the MC isn't dickhead like most isekai-harem anime
cid doesn't want to be horni / happy, he just need *MORE POWER*
What can I say, except... Sasuga, Shadow-sama! This anime, it's manga and LN are actually more clever than the majority think they are. They are not just a fun parody or a deconstruction. This is a good story with a protagonist who is a lot like Saitama and Goku in many aspects.
man what the hell, i didnt know he was going to react to eminence in shadow, i would have joined his twitch if i knew that :
That X on the bottom right is messing me up , i clicked 3 times already jajaja.
mans was just trying to be the strongest and was mad he couldn't 1v1 a nuke
Another BANGER, lets gooo!!!
You just watched first ep of one of the best comedy series from recent years, and the more anime tropes you know the funnier show gets.
I don't think he's familiar with enough tropes yet to really get most of it. I think people suggested this too early.
@@OmniscientlyMe Same here, I was laughing and crying with every chapter i read, and at that point i was only slightly over 3000 anime series in. (took only 16 years XD)
@@OmniscientlyMethis. Eminence is something you suggest once youre completely familiar with anime tropes
@@OmniscientlyMe I agree. I thought about recommending TEiS after the finale aired but reconsidered after realizing just how trope heavy the anime actually is. It’s at least 60% less enjoyable if you can’t immediately catch the jokes, but I guess most people didn’t really think that far ahead when voting for this one
first Eighty-six and now another Peak anime? W
Cid is as Extra as any MC could hope to be ^^
one of the best isekai ever not gonna lie
now i am become death I AM ATOMIC
Unlike most harem animes the girls actually do most of the work. Shadow just does the heavy lifting.
I roll up to taco bell and when they ask what I want... I reply "more power"
NO SPOILERS
17:53 - 17:58 well its a set up for far future where series has not reached that's how much i can say without spoilers
This is one of the best anime of the year

I Love this anime! X'D Everything is such a huge fanfic on purpose, I love it! Such a subvertion of expectations! < 3 Great Isekai@
finnaly a good anime..
and this set ups are not the norm but ur viewers let u only watch this shows 😭
Oh Yeah! Damn i Love this show!
17:37 no its not parody, ppl just think its parody cause MC is acting/playing role
its annoying how some ppl call it parody when its not, don't listen to them, its just action comedy
you sure the reason for the blue texts isnt you hold your mouse or double click a text then fullscreen? happens to me on youtube all the time if i highlight smth

YES YES , SHADOW GARDEN TIME!!!!!!!!
OMG YES! WE FINALLY GET CID BOYSSS!
This is IT🤩
very oshi no ko is ssssso fucking funny to hear
The anime covers just enough... the manga is currently at a good arc as well... and the anime has changed the route a lot compared to the LN. Reall wonderful unexpected anime! Lots of puns... lots of easter eggs ahha...
The anime changed literally nothing aside from the pilot episode. It’s a psychotically accurate LN adaptation, which is rare nowadays
@@dylannix4289 spoilers from WN & manga.

well… iris+beatrix vs shadow was totally changed.
Quite a lot of details in Holy Sanctuary arc were changed.
Sherry’s descent route was changed and details were added.
I recommend playing the Eminence in Shadow gacha game too. Produced by the author & same VAs. The Chronicles lets us delve into what happened to the Seven Shadows during the time skip (not in WN nor manga)… and we also meet Zeta’s “nemesis” who is voiced by Miku Itou. Also… Lambda training Rose aka 666 & lots more content 🥰
How do I bend you to my will? answer = crowbar!!
Super Chuuni boi, Just going through his batman vigilante training arc..... BAM !! TRUCK-KUN beeyotch!!
It's Isekai Time!!! ⚡️💀⚡️
"its like oshi no ko"
If you are tired of harem type anime, watch Baki Hanma. Just heavily muscled dudes who love martial arts. It is also batshit crazy.
in my opinion this is a late game anime that will became good in later episode :)
The origin of the most hilarious troll edge lord Shadow!!
as someone who reads the manga to this i will now drop the bomb: this is not an isekai, and i will not elaborate further
As someone who’s read the LNs. What the f*ck are you on about spouting nonsense like that??
During Oriana Kingdom arc Mordred literally describes their continuity as something akin to Yggdrasil, and transgressing the boundaries of dimensions is definitely on brand with isekai
The best anime ever
Wait until you hear THE line.
Damn i missed the stream
Awesome
Also first
Wanna more people watch this ... Shadow 🔥
Ah yes, edge incarnate the show.
....more.....More.....MORE!!!!
Kinda like Overlord but better. I love this show
Love the face.
this is the worst best trash isekai masterpiece of an anime ever made
