While we were going to rehearse with the band (it was the period 2001/2002) we were all shocked by listening in the car stereo to Calculating Infinity, not being able to understand not only how one could technically play stuff like that, but also how it was possible to pull this music out of the hat. Like it or not The Dillinger Escape Plan were innovators and Chris Pennie is a drummer who in the years, following his departure from the band in search of other experiences, has fallen by the wayside. I try, with my humble tribute, to get it back on everyone's lips as it deserves. Genius.@ChuckBillyTotemPoll

Great job 👏
Chris wrote the best drum album of all time over 20 years ago. I don't think hes even topped himself since.
incredible work
This band was never the same after Chris left. Calculating Infinity and Miss Machine have some of the best drums ever recorded. I remember transcribing all these songs on Guitar Pro 4 back in the day when I wanted to learn them.
I agree but consider that Ire Works drum parts were already written by Chris Pennie even if recorded by the fantastic Gil Sharone. To me a really good album that I still enjoy listening to.
@@Zaganer Yeah I think the craziest show I ever saw them play was right after Ire Works came out. It was in the middle of January in Detroit back in like ‘07 or something. I remember I walked out of the concert with half the clothes I walked in with, I was missing my hat/gloves/scarf and a bunch of other stuff because it was so nuts lol.
I was just gonna say how Gil nailed Ire Works.
I do t know how drummers wrap thier heads around that one thing they do (that no other band ever does) when it gets all sparatic and staccatoed. Props to anyone that tries that shit lol
sick! probably the cleanest drum cover ive seen, good shit man
Thanks!
Why aren't there more views? Amazing job mate!
Good question hahahaha. But it doesn't matter, I'm really enjoying playing all the music I like. You can find tons of other drum renditions in my channel. Cheers!
every one of those views is worth at least 1000 flavor-of-the-month-pop-video views. guy fucking killed it
this is so good thx for the full drum veiw it helps to learn it
Incredible drumming for incredible drummer! And obviously incredible Snare Drum! ;)
Best cover of this song on RUclips
Wow, thanks!
So clean, nice
Outstanding! Sounds tight and precise. I'm working on this drum cover as well so I'll take note of your video to learn a few tricky parts I've never understood. Good work, congratulations!
I'm glad that my videos are helpful like in your case. Cheers!
Nuts bro
Clean, well played
Thanks!
Slick.
heavy jazz
Thanks for your comment Marianne. To me what make jazz a Jazz tune is the improvisation element, which is quintessential. In music like this, some chord, phrase or rhythmic idea can suggest the jazz world but only on its "formal" side, lacking totally the dialogic element of instant composing.
Perfect description
would love just a drum track!
🤘😝🤘
Nice! Always wonder how the drum parts look like.
No clue. I just figured it out by ear. I had no time for transcribing
Absolutely brilliant! Just casually playing some Calculating Infinity tracks today :D Dillenger are probably my favourite band of all time. I appreciate that even though they experimented musically a fair bit, every one of their albums still has that consistency of sounding like nobody else but Dillenger. To this day I would describe them as unique. Their writing style has always really interested me (probably particularly CI and MM) and a significant part of my love for the band is Chris Pennie's style and ability (Billy Rhymer is also an outstanding drummer and imo was a great fit for the band). This track and We Are The Storm have to be two of my favourite tracks. I don't know the technical term but those cymbal and floor tom hits just before a snare hit (kind of like a flam but using a cymbal or tom and snare instead of double snare hits) at the start of the track used to confuse my ears until I realised what was going on! Keep up the great drumming; I'm really impressed with this.
thanks very much!
I really appreciate your words.
93.5 % perfect
better than 43% hahaha. thanks!
@@Zaganer great drumming. Can you do some Human Remains?
@@danielhynes2891 Dave Witte is a very talented drummer and HR is a very cool band that paved the way for many others. But what I wanted to do with this bunch of drum renditions is to pay tribute to the musicians that inspired me in my musical path, so that the artists and bands who want me to collaborate as session drummer (live or studio) can have an idea of what I am able to offer.
no triggers? meh
In this case no triggers at all. Sometimes I treat my kick drum using samples taken by its natural sound (see for example my renditions of Death songs). I always tell when used.
