- The 18-year-old man accused of running a red light at 112 mph in Renton before crashing into a van and killing four people on March 19 video-called in from his hospital bed to make his first court appearance Monday morning.
Chase Daniel Jones of Kent pleaded not guilty to four counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular assault, and reckless driving.
Court documents say 38-year-old Andrea Smith Hudson, 13-year-old Matilda Wilcoxson, 12-year-old Eloise Wilcoxson and 12-year-old Boyd Buster Brown were all in the van that Jones crashed into and were “immediately killed” in the “incredibly violent collision.”
According to charging papers, Jones has been involved in three major crashes in the last year that included speeding and totaling multiple vehicles.

Did the defendant's lawyer really say it was a "dumb mistake"? Absolutely disgusting of him to say that.
Agree!
A dumb mistake, which is why he's made that same mistake over and over again.
He doesnt look like he cares. This is his third high speed crash. his parents just keep buying him new cards.
Its a lawyer, their job is to lie to hopefully get the person off. Duh its disgusting.
No it’s not. It’s his job. He’s a f**king lawyer. You act like he likes defending the guy. What he’s trying to do is get him a lighter sentence.
He should be charged with 4 counts of murder.
He’s being charged of 4 counts of vehicular homicide….. what else do you want? Just 1 count can be life in prison. Also murder is intentional. He was trying to crash and kill 4 people. But he’s an idiot and should know the consequences of driving quick. Totaled 2 cars prior!? This kid is irresponsible and his parents too for even buying him another car. No way he has money buy 3 cars. They should had made him walk and take the bus.
They probably thought if he didn’t have a car it would ruin or at least make his life more difficult.

Amen 👍🥲🥲🥲🥲❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yeah what an absurd statement for that attorney to have made. I'm sure all families involved would much rather have had their car stolen than have had their loved ones killed.
The fact that he can claim killing 4 innocent lives as just a dumb mistake is actually disgusting. Dude took lives, have some damn respect and take some responsibility.
That was a different court case for this same guy

@@bluegoose1342 That's legal terminology. A young man is colloquially a boy, especially to a much older speaker.

$100, 000 bail? Should be a million for each victim.
Nah should be no bond. He doesn't deserve to see this side of a prison cell ever again.
No respect for life, no value attached to life anymore.
I don't know how the defense attorney came up with the "he's not stealing cars not carrying a gun." After wrecking two cars by speeding his third wreck ended up killing people. A car is a deadly weapon when driven recklessly.
He killed people for Gods sake
Plus carrying a gun isn't a crime, what kind of logic is that from a lawyer!

@@nikkik4603 Very good point . Agree...
Needs to be life in prison for this. No excuse to be driving this recklessly in an area that has traffic. Him pleading not guilty is insane and a desperate attempt at saving his own ass.
Right? Pleading not guilty to this was a serious kick to the gut for the victims family. He couldn’t even be man enough to face his charges with regret. Acting like a typical rich kid that’s morally bankrupt, lacking the value of life. What’s truly sad is he was barely an adult himself and he destroyed 5 lives including his own; But he deserves to be in prison without parole for life, or at the very minimum the death penalty. And by pleading not guilty, the state could go after the death penalty which is the only good that could come from this horrible horrible situation.
Pleading guilty would have the opposite effect and give the illusion of taking responsibility. When there is no doubt of guilt, it's best to give up and say so. You make it worse if you don't, plus it makes you a lying POS in addition to a killer.
Only a monster would pled non guilty in this. Take some accountability and suck it up. Hes a murderer, he should be in prison for life.
@@macawlovers1964 the death penalty is not appropriate for an unintentional crime. He was negligent but for the death penalty you need PREMEDITATED MURDER. This was NEGLIGENT MURDER. It is completely different. The death penalty is not appropriate for this crime. But life with the possibility of parole after 30 years would be appropriate
Pleading not guilty will usually get you more time, because it doesn't make you innocent and judges don't like liars. Part of a sentence is not taking responsibility and not showing remorse. In his case, it just means he'd go back to driving like he did before. It's unfortunate the innocent people are the ones who died.
A “DUMB” MISTAKE?!?! Omg. What a slap in the face to the victim’s families
This was from a previous trial.
What a nasty kid. He could care less about killing 4 people...
Couldn't*
Driving 112 mph is just as dangerous as having a gun.
MORE dangerous, actually. You and I are statistically much more likely to die from a car than a gun...
I was driving 150, feels ok
Nonsense.
More dangerous than having a gun.
As Republicans say
112mph trough an intersection is beyond reasonable. He needs time
Underground.
On a red as well.
Jeez that is lightening quick. It can happen to anyone. Definitely have got to look both ways when crossing and always slow down at intersections. Though sadly, drivers and motorcycle riders are expected to ride the speed limit and will get honked at when slowing down to not get killed by these stupid red light runners. Probably speaks to the inherent flaw of intersections in the USA and why we should adopt roundabouts in the USA, and replace more intersections with them, so people stop getting killed by these red light runners and avoid torn-up grieving families from becoming more common.
@@rohandhanota9944 Round abouts are expensive. They also require a lot of land.
@@jonschmidt1545But imo those costs are worth the benefits in safety and traffic flow. Bc in a traditional intersection you have two choices: either slow down before crossing, which impedes traffic or you can cross at the speed limit and run a risk of getting hit by a red light runner
Y’all crazy as hell, $100,000 bond. And then he has the nerve to plead not guilty, who else was in the car with you 😩
That's a large part of the problem these days when people break the law, assault, or cause loss of life. Leniency and lack of accountability.
He shows no remorse, it’s so despicable. And the fact that he’s been caught doing the same thing over and over again and he’s still not in jail or let alone still be allowed to keep his license prior to this crime? It’s so disappointing.
You can see him slightly smile after trying to make himself cry. This man is a psychopath who needs to be locked up for life.

He is charged with vehicular homicide. It is the car version of murder.
20 years in jail for each death....
He will probably get 13 years
104 years; we can only hope.
That's what I think also. Spot on...
I cannot even fathom the loss of these parents. How utterly disturbing and disrespectful of the attorney to call this a dumb mistake. Those 3 beautiful children are gone forever. Those parents will be grieving forever. Not a dumb mistake. A foolish, selfish, irreversible, reckless decision. He deserves to sit in prison for 3 consecutive life sentences.
Who kept buying him cars ???
I'm guessing the Parents ???
The dismissal of this tragedy as “just a dumb mistake” is both appalling and disgraceful. This so-called mistake took the lives of four children. He has made that same “dumb mistake” twice within 11 months, totaling two cars. While he may not have a gun, at the moment he accelerated to 112 mph, his car transformed into a lethal weapon under
his control.
He needs life in prison he is a danger to the public he should never be released
Not violent? Who drives that fast thinking nothing violent will happen???
That kid is a murder period!!! He needs to be locked up forever!
Be a man plead guilty and face your punishment. Don't put the family's of the people you killed through a trial.
I feel his parents probably played a roll in this as well. There is no way that an 18 yr old totals 2 cars within 11 months without his parents helping him with another vehicle. And for that lawyer to say "it was all a dumb mistake," is beyond disgusting. A dumb mistake was his first car crash. After you total 2 cars within a few months due to excessive speeding then it is no longer a mistake because you are actively making the decision to speed. Especially after you had totalled 2 cars. He just took the lives of 4 people and as such deserves 4 life sentences PERIOD. im so sorry for the families who were impacted by this tragic and preventable murder. Cause that is exactly what he dis to these 4 beautiful lives. Sending love and well wishes from TN.
He needs to be held accountable. Enough said.
From Hospital straight to Jail for the rest of his pathetic Life.
There's a HUGE difference between a MISTAKE and a DECISION! A mistake is drinking so much that you get a bad hangover the next day. He CHOSE to speed, as he had twice before. And he's had accidents before as well. Only this time he killed 4 people, 3 of which were CHILDREN! Totally reckless. He needs to be charged and convicted of vehicular manslaughter. You don't get to mow down an adult and 3 kids in a car going 112 mph and walk away a free man. Send this punk to prison for LIFE!
That father should show that lawyer what a "dumb mistake" looks like
"He's not out stealing cars..." Well, he doesn't have to. His parents keep buying him new ones after he repeatedly crashes into people.
First off, WHY was his bail only $100,00⁉️. This is outrageous, what is wrong with the system when this self-entitled killer gets such a low bail ⁉️. Even without having a history of speeding and car crashes this is murder of THREE CHILDREN and a MOTHER ‼️. Jone's attorney has the gaul to say , "He's not stealing, having a gun", Seriously ⁉️. A motor vehicle is a DEADLY WEAPON, He needs to be put in PRISON for LIFE‼️. He knowingly and without care or caution for other human life sped at 112 miles per hour ‼️. He MURDERED these THREE CHILDREN and MOTHER with a DEADLY WEAPON ‼️‼️‼️‼️
Pleading not guilty is not accepting responsibility. I hope the judge gives him the maximum sentence.
This is ridiculous and sounds like the parents of this 18 year old should be charged as accessory before the fact. My heart breaks for these parents who lost their children and the parent that was killed. No one drives that fast without intending to not give a damn about others. Another words he was a deadly weapon
That kid is a menace. He needs to have his license revoked permanently. Also, what about the parents who keep getting this jerk new cars? They should be charged as well.
A person needing life without parole. Clearly will be a danger to the public if free, and has little regard for others lives.
Life in prison. The end. Absolute monster. The wrong people died
4 consecutive life sentences. No parole.
How the hell do you plead not guilty when you are the sole driver of the car that was speeding and hit the van and you are still in the hospital from the injuries you suffered in the crash.
Four counts of murder and if found guilty, Four life sentences to run consecutively!!!
Cameron Herrin got 24 years for speed racing and killing mother and child (Jessica and Lillia Reisinger-Raubenolt), so logically, he should spend 58 years in prison for killing 4 people.
24 × 2 = 48
His face shows no remorse for his actions. 😤
*Another typical rich kid that’s morally bankrupt, lacking the value of life.* *His first two cars were a Chevy truck, a BMW and now an AUDI with this murder.* *WHY DID THIS POS LIVE?!* Pleading not guilty to this was a serious kick to the gut for the victims family.
