What I think I find the most hilarious about Derek is how he says that he's never been more insulted, yet he's constantly insulted in the very same way. 😂😂
What's funny is him being insulted by being accused of being gay, when, in fact, he is gay and gives off all of the stereotypical attributes associated with gay people. It's one thing to be accused of being gay just because you give off so many stereotypical attributes associated with gay people, but are, in fact, not gay. It's a whole other thing when you appear to be gay, are, in fact, gay, and then completely deny being gay in order to justify your being insulted.
As a gay man myself, I find this character hilarious! Over the top? Of course! That’s what I love about Derek. Catherine Tate is a really original comic.

Yes I have a friend whose gay and he thinks Derek is hilarious. Sadly nowadays people are offended at absolutely everything. 10 of us went on holiday together, married, gay, a widow, a real mix. Another gay friend came along who my friend called "Pop It In Pete" His name was Peter and he was a Postman haha. We never stopped laughing from the time we got on the plane until we got back to Gatwick. One of the best holidays I've ever been on (don't think the other people at the hotel were too impressed as we were very noisy). 😂😂
