@@Shawn-mo6dh That really was a difficult character. He felt his suffering justified defiance of all justice systems - and who could blame him one bit? And his demise, when we see how Hannibal had pulled the strings for who-knows-how-man in Mason's household. Such a cleverly designed set of characters.
"GET OFF MY PLANE!" Fun Fact: Gary Oldman's performance earned him the nickname "Scary Gary" during production. However, he did not stay in character between the scenes. Wolfgang Petersen called the filming experience "Air Force Fun" because of how comedic and genial Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford would be off-screen. He also said that Gary Oldman would suddenly return to the menacing film persona instantly. Harrison Ford has since named Gary Oldman as his favorite on-screen nemesis. Also, Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman are actually hitting each other during their fight scenes.
This is actually great too hear. Too often you hear stories of actors being terrible to each other in the name of being "Method." Call me crazy, but I feel like acting should be, you know, an act. Hearing that he would flip back and forth between genial and menacing makes me like him ore as an actor.
When the C130 changed call signs to Air Force 1 that's factual. Any aircraft the President is on becomes ???1. What this means is if it is Air Force, well we know that one. Marines, Marine 1, Army, Army 1, and Navy 1.
I don't know why anyone is talking about this. Cassie talking about what she would need to jump out of the plane and being punched in the face is absolutely hilarious. Her nerdy analogies and out of mind thinking brings me so much joy watching her reactions. Love your content keep up the great work.
The way they do it in military planes ordinarily is you're attached to a wire, which pulls the chute for you when you jump out. So perhaps for Cassie they could have rigged up something similar and she wouldn't need to be conscious to pull her own chute. I wonder if she'd rather zip line between two planes or jump out of one with a parachute, though. I have gone skydiving and it's a lot of fun. I did an accelerated freefall course and got my A license. Skydiving is actually really, really safe. It's only once a skydiver moves up in the skills and experience and starts to get cocky that accidents happen. Usually doing crazy stunts like wingsuits and water landings, that's when people actually get killed. I have no desire to do that kind of stuff, but I'm happy to do ordinary jumps a few times in a day every now and again, get some freefall minutes, and fly a nice big canopy.
It actually reminds me of a scenario I've heard about from The A-Team, where the team has to knock out Baracus (Mr. T's character) before he could be parachuted out of a plane. 😁
I love how she legit did not suspect just how south this would all how. She was SO NOT PREPARED for it to go from some inspiring patriotic movie to some fricken Die Hard in seconds.
Gary Oldman is one of the best actors of all time. His range and devotion to character is unmatched by most in the industry. He is almost unrecognizable between his roles which include: Zorg - 5th Element Mason Verger - Hannibal Commissioner Gordon - Dark Night trilogy (Batman) And even more than I could list.
Some actors coast by pretty much playing the same character with every role. Not Gary Oldman. I don't think he's ever had two roles that are even remotely similar.
One of my favorite Harrison Ford performances. Gary Oldman, likewise, is at one of his villainous best in this. I still remember my first time seeing it, and just how immensely satisfying it was hearing Harrison growl the line, “Get off my plane!”
Die Hard on a plane is a pretty accurate description of this movie. Yes there are plot holes and portions that are over the top and dramatic...but dammit this is a fun movie. I always felt so bad for William H. Macy's character. He was one of the most loyal guys there, is willing to sacrifice himself to save everyone, but still gets shot in the end. So glad you wound up watching this because it's just a really fun movie that is more intense than you'd think.
Great reaction as always. Btw, one of the ironies of Harrison Ford playing the role of US President, is that his 'Jack Ryan' character in the movies 'Patriot Games' and 'Clear and Present Danger' actually eventually also becomes the US President in the Tom Clancy novels.
Just reading the Ryanverse books up the Bear and The Dragon made me visualize Ford as President Ryan. I can understand why he passed on Sum of All Fears back in 2000
I first watched this movie in the theater while on a weekend pass from basic training. My fellow trainees thought I was crazy for spending my time at a movie. This was worth it.
@@jkhoover The day I graduated from Basic training (Fort Jackson, SC) , back in 1992, me and my family went to see Batman Returns and ate pizza! The next day, I was off to Fort Sam Houston, Texas, for AIT. I know the feeling.
Hey man, just go to the comments section for RoboCop! There's a story I saw about a movie theater that was full of marines or something. When Robo started kicking ass and blowing away the bad guys, the whole place blew up in cheers. This was when good movies made us feel something. We wanted to see good guys kick bad guys asses. So I totally believe you when you say that it was a weekend liberty well spent watching Air Force One.
This brings back so many memories. And one I had to share. I went to see this movie in theaters with my VERY pregnant sister and her, then fiance (now ex-husband). My sister always had a small crush on Harrison Ford, but that's not the point of this story. Keep in mind, this was a time before everyone had cell phones. It was after midnight by the time I dropped them off at their place, and I went home myself. Before I could get home, her water broke, she couldn't call me to get them, so she called our older brother to pick them up to take to the hospital (they didn't have a car). So my brother picked them up to take them to the hospital. I go home to find a message on my answering machine telling me what happened. To meet at the hospital. My niece, now 25, was born that morning on July 29, 1997. My sister jokes that the movie (and Harrison Ford)and her anxiety during the movie induced labour. After watching your own anxiety and reaction, I thought you'd like this little memory of mine
I have a fun story about Liesel Matthews(Alice). Liesel Matthews was born Liesel Pritzker. In the early 2000s, I worked for a technology consulting firm, and one of our clients was Liesel's mother, Irene. I had to go to Irene's house one day to help her with some computer problems and, while I was working at her mom's desk, Liesel came out of her room and sat down on the couch near the desk. She then got up to go make herself some breakfast (IIRC she was going to make an omelette). I introduced myself and she asked me if I would like her to make me something while she was in the kitchen. I said "no, thank you". When I got home that day, I told my wife that I should have said 'yes'. Then I could always tell people that a movie star made me breakfast once.
There aren’t many things better than watching a sweet and gentle girl like Cassie launch into a tirade about gathering more weapons and “put that guy to sleep!”
Gary Oldman is a brilliant actor, and a chameleon. He looks different in every movie he is in. Among his many amazing roles are Beethoven in "Immortal Beloved", Detective/Commissioner Gorden in the "Dark Knight" Trilogy (Christopher Nolan Batman movies), Winston Churchill in "Darkest Hour", Emannuel Zorg in "The Fifth Element", George Smiley in "Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy" and, of course, Sirius Black in the "Harry Potter" movies. And that only scratches the surface. I also like Harrison Ford in this film. It serves as a sort-of third Jack Ryan movie. You talk about how you loved The West Wing (I do too). I strongly reccomend the movie "The American President" and the TV series "The Newsroom" (same writer/creator of the West Wing) Both are amazing.
I second the suggestion of watching The Newsroom. Pretty much anything by Sorkin gets my vote! You also can't go wrong with just about anything Oldman is in. Definitely add Leon to the watch list!
I remember holding my bladder to a painful level watching this movie with friends because it was so good. Many well-played rolls in this movie, including Glen Close & William H Macy who not only helped the staff escape but go himself shot at the end. His roll was of a true patriot.
Ha! I'm right there with you on the holding of the bladder. Been there quite a few times myself. Sign of a really good movie. Maybe I shouldn't have been ordering those large soft drinks...... Hmmmm.
The two absolute heroes of this movie (among many), the Chief of Staff (Paul Guilfoyle), NOT a Secret Service Agent, NOT military, who jumps in front of a bullet meant for the President, and the un-named fighter pilot who willingly and knowingly used his plane to block a missile from hitting AF1, knowing full well what that meant!
Yes, the Major who stood by the president through pretty much the entire ordeal and died right at the end was my favourite of everyone (except for Harrison Ford)
When it comes to fictional Presidents, mine is David Palmer as played by Dennis Haysbert in the first three seasons of 24 and briefly in seasons 4 and 5. As for Air Force One, it is a great movie. My favorite thing about this movie, though, is the score composed by the late and legendary Jerry Goldsmith. He was one of the best film composers and I have been watching movies he composed the scores for as far back as I can remember. Makes me want to listen to the Air Force One score right now. And speaking of President Bartlett from The West Wing, if you have never seen it, watch the 1983 film The Dead Zone, based upon the book by Stephen King. The same actor, Martin Sheen, plays Gregory Stillson, who is running for president, but he is a very bad person, downright evil.
My favourite fictional president might be the unnamed one played by Josef Meinrad in the Austrian political satire/Sci-Fi comedy "1. April 2000" from 1952. 😊
YES!!! One of my favorite Harrison Ford action movies ever made! RIP Wolfgang Petersen, for giving us this roller coaster thriller. "GET OFF MY PLANE!"
In the directors cut the script said the First Lady was a former PlayMate Also Fun Fact They use this movie as a training video for all Secret Service and future Presidents on how to survive an assualt o Air Force One
No fictional president compares to Kevin Kline in Dave (1993). "Hail to the chief, he's the chief and he needs hailing..." So good. Also, Sigourney Weaver as the first lady, you'd love it!
This is one of the best summer action films. Gary Oldman was spectacularly over the top and terrifying. Also the ending was tense given the deadly count down to fuel exhaustion and the traitor revealing himself.
That Air Force One highjacking sequence is one of the very best I've ever seen in any action movie. If this movie has any weakness it's that it kind of peaks there. Yeah, the rest is still very good, but that sequnce is absolutely best. Oh, and I'm glad to hear you love the West Wing. It's a fantastic show. Bartlett is such a great character, I can't believe Sheen didn't get an Emmy for the Two Cathedrals episode.
A really fantastic presidential film is 'The American President'. (Michael Douglas, Annette Benning, Martin Sheen, Michael J. Fox) It was written by Aaron Sorkin, and is a precursor to 'The West Wing'. (Which he also created) 👍😊
Hey Cassie! Shout out from the US Marine Corps! I absolutely love seeing you get so emotional over movies! You honestly bring tears to my eyes! If you like this movie I think you'll like Con-Air! Until the next movie!
The girl playing his daughter is Liesel Mathews. She only has one other movie to her credit. A movie called “A Little Princess”. She did a great job in that movie and I highly recommend it.
Gary Oldman is great at transforming himself for his roles, like Damiel Day-Lewis, Men of 1,000 faces. Btw, you haven't seen Gary Oldman as the villain in 'Leon the Professional' (1994) yet? Excellent movie starring Natalie Portman in her first movie role. One caveat, I'd recommend the American release version over the international director's cut for first time viewing.
The International Version is the better film, by some margin (omitting the Russian roulette and full training scenes is such a shame), but Americans do get very distracted by the discomfort… Not sure how Cassie specifically would feel about it 🤔
My favorite fictional president movie isn't exactly about the president, but 'Dave'is a wonderful watch if you ever get the chance amongst the many movies you have to watch.
Great reaction Cassie! Just throwing in another recommendation for Witness (1985) a criminaly under-rated romantic thriller, with Ford giving one of his career best performances! I'm pretty sure you'd like it a lot Cassie
Love this movie. Dean stockwell, the guy who plays the defense secretary, was one of the main characters on one of my favorite 90s tv shows, quantum leap
Dean Stockwell is another great actor. I loved the original Quantum Leap. Him and Scott Bakula were amazing together. I hate the new one though. It has none of the charm of the original imo.
@@parker469a lol after all that after all his BS he just (spoilers) pops a round into his mouth. God damn did I loose it when a certain other President passed...when he puts the ring on her finger . . . bro I was balling!

Gary Oldman is so great in this, as he is in everything he's in. Another good film to watch which is similar to this is Executive Decision with Kurt Russell.
@@joannaholden943I don’t think she will watch because she watched United 93. And even though Executive Decision has an happy ending, United 93 isn’t. And because of Islamic terrorists in Executive Decision, this was one of the another reasons
I just KNEW you would love this movie. A great white-knuckle rollercoaster ride. My wife and I watched this movie three times in theaters just to take friends and see their reactions! And dozens of times at home. Whenever we see the actor who played Gibbs (Xander Berkeley) in any movie or show, we always say, "Don't trust him! Shoot him! Shoot him now!" Also, I thought you might recognize the awesome and beautiful Canadian actress who played the First Lady. Her name is Wendy Crewson and she's won tons of awards in Canada.
Eh, wasn't a fan of the character Gibbs. He felt like a shoehorned in plot-twist betrayal character. It would have been better if he reveals his betrayal around the mid-point and given a better motive. I think Die Hard did a better job establishing the terrorist's inside men and any characters who betray anyone like Harry. Come to think of it, this movie is basically Die Hard on a plane....
@@osmanyousif7849 His Act 1 murder of the agents had serious shock value, though. I'm not saying he's a great character, just that the hatred that he evokes (like in Cassie) sticks with you throughout the movie. And picking on Xander is just an inside joke with my wife. Even though it's derivative, I like this one better than Die Hard. The love and respect one has for the Marshall family is so visceral - and I'm a veteran, so this movie punches a lot of pride buttons for me. Also, I just don't like Bruce Willis all that much.
@@jsharp3165 , Okay, one thing I'll agree you on. Because yeah, who even likes Bruce Willis anymore? All his movies have been mediocre to say the least and I'm not that surprised to here he's retired for good.
At the moment the VP DIDN'T sign the document, she abdicated her responsibility to the country. Yes, I know it's a movie. Yes, I know that was part of the plot. But her governmental responsibility was to sign that document, take charge of the country, and deal with the situation.
That Goldsmith title theme is such a rousing, emotional, red-blooded-American song, I really, seriously believe it should be America's new national anthem. Also I've flown on a few 747s to distant Pacific island paradises over the years - and yes, they really are that huge and roomy inside. Even in my cheap coach cattle-class seats.
Gary Oldman is the kind of actor that becomes the character he's playing so well that you forget it's him. He played Sirius Black in the Harry Potter movies. Compare that character to this one. Compare those characters to the villain in the Fifth Element. To Gordon in the Batman movies. The man is an incredible actor.
I haven't watched this movie in ages, and it's still just as good as I remember! The scene where the F-15's of Halo flight come streaking over Air Force One about 30 seconds after the long-distance Fox 3 launch still gives me goosebumps! It's one of the best "cavalry to the rescue" scenes in the last several decades of filmdom! 👍👍
The Eagle deserves way more love from filmmakers than it got. Greatest fighter jet ever made and still undefeated to this day. At least there’s one movie out there where it gets to star in.
@@kaijohnson5033 It's a great plane, but not as photogenic as some others. I think of its contemporaries in the American armed forces, probably every one of them is better looking.
I had the flu when I was a kid and I vividly remember laying on the couch and my mom rented this from Family Video. Love this movie. Such a good popcorn flick
Just to let you know Cassie.. Plane to Plane transfer or rescue is a REAL thing. The actual practice it in the military, particularly special operations. It is a real thing they try when a hijacking scenario when an airborne carrier (with high importance personnel) cannot land, but maintain flight. So that isn't against physics, they can actually do that.
Those circumstances would be pretty brutal though, they were already low for the parachutes, then they lost power and started losing altitude in a glide, having to stay lower than them would be some risky piloting.
Probably already mentioned, but considering this was made 3 years after "Clear and Present Danger", you can almost view it as the the third Harrison Ford 'Jack Ryan' movie. (It fits really well, as he becomes president in the novels later on)
Congrats, Cassie! You've now watched the 2 pretty great presidential thrillers from the late director Wolfgang Petersen. You also did a reaction to his In The Line Of Fire movie with Clint Eastwood a while back. Mr. Petersen had a pretty strong filmography so I'd kinda like to see how you'd react to his films Perfect Storm, Outbreak, Shattered, Enemy Mine, Neverending Story and the like. I had a lot of his films on repeat all through the '90s.
This is such a good movie, and Gary Oldman is a phenomenal actor, especially when playing villains. You should check out "The Fifth Element", Bruce Willis as the good guy, Gary Oldman as the bad guy. Crazy, silly, fun movie.
Just an FYI... That plane to plane transfer of people is actually possible and has been done many times. Heck, special ops guys get snatched off the ground by a passing plane regularly. They weren't going as fast as you think. Probably around 200 mph. The movie is definitely exaggerated for theatrics but that particular part is real enough.
They call that the Skyhook, as seen "performed" in Batman: The Dark Knight I believe its not done as much anymore because it is a highly dangerous evac strategy and special forces soldiers have more options now, but its still executed in a pinch
@@HorribleGamingFun It's the Fulton Recovery System, and actually it's been removed from all active MC-130's by this point. I flew the planes that had the hardware (a few HC and MC-130's) back in the 90's, but even at that time all of the "moving parts" of the system had been removed.
Actually, while the planes flying in close formation was real (I was stationed at Eglin when they filmed this, and knew some of the MC-130 crew that did the flying), the actual connection (not possible--AF1 doesn't have a rigging hook at the door like that), and the "zipline" transfer (CGI) was movie magic. I can't say actual aircraft to aircraft personnel transfer has never occurred, but in my time in Air Force Spec Ops I never heard of it actually being performed. You are right, there used to be a mission for surface to air recovery of personnel (Fulton Recovery System), but it was disabled as of the early 90's, and no longer exists on any active duty aircraft as far as I am aware. I did fly a few birds that had the nose and the infrastructure from 91-96, but the "moving parts" had all been removed.
@@stephenzepp6536 Cool. How much time did you serve on AF1 in the 90s? Interesting fact for you... The first plane to plane in flight transfer of passengers was done in the 1920s. They even did in flight refueling. They had a guy strapped to the wing with a 5 gallon gas can. That one is pretty bizarre even for Hollywood standards. lol
My face hurts from smiling and laughing, from watching Cassie in this one! Easily one of the best! She is SO instantly empathetic with everything on screen and INTO IT! 🤣 She is so frickin endearing and fun to watch LMAO! Gosh darnit what a great human being.
the girl who played the first daughter is a billionaire heir in real life...she was the lead star in "A Little Princess" (1995) one of the earlier films of future Oscar winner Alfonso Cuaron. I think it was a masterpiece, I hope you get to react to that movie if you haven't seen it yet.
The gulag where Radek is kept is the same prison used in The Shawshank Redeption. When Ivan gives his thumbprint for a background check near the beginning of the film, the date of birth that comes up among his info (3/21/58) is Gary Oldman's real birthday. The outdoor nighttime shots of the military invading Radek's palace were filmed in Cleveland, Ohio.
Wait, so if she only saw Gary Oldman from Dracula, does that mean that she hasn't seen the Harry Potter movies or The Dark Knight trilogy? Time to schedule those reactions! Also, glad that you mentioned the music b/c the legendary Jerry Goldsmith was still able to rush out a great score despite only having a couple of weeks. On a more negative note, I gotta say that the actress who played Alice was quite unconvincing to me in terms of selling the terror of the terrorists. A lot of times, she just looks ticked off.
But that's what's great about Alice. She's just like her parents. She's not buying Korshunov's bs. Btw, the girl who played Alice was richer than any other actor in the movie. She is a billionaire member of the Pritzker family.
Honestly, her being "ticked off" could have worked better if when she calls Egor for what he is, he's all like, "(Mimics her voice) What took you so long, you stupid brat?!" Edit: Sorry, just had to use Jack Horner's line....
Actually, I think that young actress, Liesel Pritzker, showed great potential in her few acting roles. She mostly stopped acting because her family are multi-billionaires and she got involved with that instead.
Love the actor Gary Oldman. He plays multiple characters such as Sirius Black, Commisioner Gordon, and of course this show. He is also a great shakespearian actor.
Favorite Presidents Serious: Henry Fonda in Failsafe. Comedy Peter Sellers in Dr. Strangelove. Fun fact. Both of these movies have the exact same plot. (a nuclear bomber is headed to moscow to drop a bomb on it due to mistaken orders.) One of them is played totally serious. The other is played for laughs. It might make a good back to back reaction.
Executive Decision (1996) is another "Die Hard on a plane" movie, which I highly recommend since you liked this one. Halle Berry, Kurt Russell, John Leguizamo, Steven Segal -- lots of recognizable faces. Gripping fun.
my first movie! seen as a child at the beach, camping, in italy. there was a relaxation area right next to the entrance, and in the 90s everything was very "easy" even people who weren't from the campsite could come and go when they wanted. A crowd of at least 50 people had gathered in front of that small TV. all silent from start to finish due to tension! masterpiece.
Harrison Ford as the President always makes me believe in America. 🇺🇲 Air Force One is one of my favorite R-Rated action film since childhood including the BEST Die Hard Rip-Off!
As someone who worked inside the Air Force One Hangar, and been on board BOTH of these aircraft several times (there’s 2 btw) I’m sorry to disappoint but there isn’t a shake Shack nor is there an escape pod. They got some things right and some things wrong, it’s Hollywood…they dress it up best they can.
Gary Oldman is probably the best chameleon actor ever, in my opinion. Every roll he's in, he just disappears, leaving only the character. If you think his character is a monster in this movie, you should see him in "Leon the Professional", which also has a very young Natalie Portman
West Wing, at least the first 4 seasons before Sorkin left, is the absolute best. I haven’t seen it in 5 years but as I’ve been visiting my dad this week he’s been watching it and I’ve been quoting lines before scenes start. Great casting, great performances, great writing.
Harrison Ford - amazing actor. I read he had a hard time getting parts in the beginning - did side jobs as a carpenter - and was used instead to read opposite people auditioning for a part, so when it came to him 'reading' for Star Wars, his snippy attitude for his mundane task actually got him his part in the movie. Apparently it was just what they were looking for in the character. lol What a great movie - had fun watching it again with you.
Fun fact. When she saw Star Wars for the first time, Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas Saw Han Solo for the first time and did a double-take before shouting, "That's my pot dealer!"
Really looking forward to this one! 😊 "Get off my plane!" Such an epic quote from this movie. This is one of my many favorite Harrison Ford movies. And his character, President James Marshall, is one of my favorite movie Presidents. I very highly recommend the 1985 Harrison Ford movie "Witness. Carly might even like that one. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
Saw it opening night...weirdly only remember that line and Gary Oldman's neck snap though. Feel like there were a ton of semi-similar action movies from '93-'99.
I'm British. Gary Oldman is arguably one of our greatest actors, if not the best character actor. Watch, true romance, JFK, the darkest hour and that'll show how awesome he is. I would praise Harrison Ford, but I can't put into words how much enjoyment on film he's giving me as a kid since Star wars and Indiana Jones. Whatever film he's in, I'm all in. No questions. Love that man.👍
I had a friend who once wanted to become a presidential bodyguard all because he saw Air Force One. He's a math teacher these days but still jokes every now and then how he could have been a presidential bodyguard.
Another great fictional president was played by Morgan Freeman in the movie Deep Impact. I don't remember the character's name, but Morgan was excellent as always. It's a pretty good disaster film that's worth a watch.
President Beck and he is my all time favorite fictional president. Deep Impact is one of my fave disaster movies.. It has an amazing cast, (and Tea Leoni 😬).
My favourite U.S. president impersonation is Hal Holbrook in the mini series "North and South". Have you seen that one? It was the career booster for Patrick Swayze. And the actor playing "Radek" in this movie is the German actor Jürgen Prochnow. He starred IMHO still the best German movie "Das Boot" (1981). It's a WWII movie about a German submarine based on a true story. It is definetly worth a reaction 😉!
The fighter pilot sacrificing himself by flying in front of the missile still gets me! Another great president movie is The American President with Michael Douglas.
My dad was an eagle driver (F-15C pilot) and I always hated this movie for that part because the Eagle has never been shot down (104 kills - 0 losses). I idolized the eagle for keeping my dad safe and hated seeing one go. Held that against this movie for a long while😂
This is very odd. I have a strange sense of happiness knowing there is a new PIB video coming out. My wife says, "Why don't you enjoy watching me watch movies". I say, "Because you don't say things like, The merengue, isn't that a pie!"
Another brilliant reaction Cassie... if you want to see another great Gary Oldman performance watch, Leon The Professional (extended cut) ... a true masterpiece!
Some of my favorite fictional presidents are Thomas Whitmore (Independence Day), Henry Hayes (StarGate SG-1), and Benjamin Asher (Olympus/London Has Fallen). This one's also really good. :D Also, yes, Gary Oldman literally seems to disappear into practically every role he plays.
Henry Hayes was a badass mutherfucka. "Consider your resignation accepted Bob." "You can't do that." "Oh, please. I got enough on you to have you shot."
Gary Oldman is one of the great British Actors for sure, he family home isnt far from me where he grew up! he Directed a movie based on hes life called NIL BY MOUTH, awesome movie

I saw a part of this movie being made, they were using a Boy Scout Camp in Ohio for the 2nd unit shots of the SEALs rescuing the escape capsule, while my troop was camped out nearby. Pretty neat.
The mid-air transfer is a nice callback to "Airport 1975", which had spectacular aerial footage of a real 747. There were several in this film as well, although the truly hairy stuff was CGI. The actual VC-25 aircraft which serves as AF1 (which as you saw at the end, can be any aircraft if the President is on board) does have several of the 'gadgets' shown here, although FAR more advanced... and classified, to boot. Glad you had fun with this one, Cassie!
Yep. This was filmed near California's Channel Islands. Paul Bishop flew the 747 in formation within a few feet of the MC-130. The camera plane, a modified B-25, had a top speed of about 230 miles per hour, so the sequence was filmed at about 200 miles per hour, which is why the 747 had to be flown with flaps extended. :D
One of my all time favourite action movies. So great watching the finale with you and seeing your reactions. I actually got very emotional watching you and your excitement and emotions. I just discovered your channel, and I look forward to seeing more. "My favourite movie president," yep, Gary Oldman did a good job, because you were disgusted by him. I would personally recommend watching the Netflix All Quiet on the Western Front. It’s been a while since a war movie made me feel the way that one did, so I’d recommend giving it a watch.
@@elessartelcontar9415 The older ones are good, but I actually like how the new one isn’t exactly like the book. If people want the plot to be just like the book, or if they want it to be as realistic as possible, then they may as well read the original book since it was written by an actual veteran. Although, I feel like Ernst Jünger did a better job portraying the way soldiers actually feel during war in Storm of Steel than just the same old “war bad” message that’s been beaten into the dirt.

Watched this on base while surrounded by Air Force guys. The screams of “hell yeah” when the pilot took the missile for Air Force One was amazing
She needs to watch Terminal Velocity next.
Gary Oldman is one of the best actors of all time. His range and devotion to character is unmatched by most in the industry. He is almost unrecognizable between his roles which include:
Zorg - 5th Element
Mason Verger - Hannibal
Commissioner Gordon - Dark Night trilogy (Batman)
And even more than I could list.
I still think his best was in Leon as:
Stansfield : Bring me everyone.
3rd Stansfield man : What do you mean "everyone"?
Stansfield : EVERYONE!
Sirius Black in Harry Potter :D
Yeah I never recognize him between roles. He's the perfect character actor.
@@thomashoskins8817 me too
Everytime I think of Gary Coleman, I remember that movie and precisely that scene 😂
Has Gary Oldman ever been bad in anything? He's been in bad things but has he ever been bad? Legend
Cassie u do know that was sirius black?
@@LtDan-rk4si Gary Oldman was just playing Gary Oldman. lol...
Gary Oldman just knows how to portray a villian, like Dracula and Stansfield.
People ove Gary Oldman (as they should), but they forget how good he has been at making audiences love to hate him.
Oldman is simply the best actor of his generation, blends into anything.
You look back at his filmography, his range is amazing. The man can transform himself into anyone.
gotta love him as Mr Zorg from the fifth element.
I have heard, with the exception of playing the same character, he always does a different accent.
It's amazing - another of my favorites was Smiley in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and that character is in every conceivable way a contrast to this one.
The chameleon of our generation
Watching this in a theater was INCREDIBLE. '97 was such a good year.
Austin Powers, Face / Off, Air Force One such a great summer indeed.
Except for the dogshit CGI

Die Hard on a plane is a pretty accurate description of this movie. Yes there are plot holes and portions that are over the top and dramatic...but dammit this is a fun movie. I always felt so bad for William H. Macy's character. He was one of the most loyal guys there, is willing to sacrifice himself to save everyone, but still gets shot in the end. So glad you wound up watching this because it's just a really fun movie that is more intense than you'd think.
“Real peace is not just absence of conflict; it’s the presence of Justice.”
I have used that line many times. Forgot it was from this movie.
Great reaction as always. Btw, one of the ironies of Harrison Ford playing the role of US President, is that his 'Jack Ryan' character in the movies 'Patriot Games' and 'Clear and Present Danger' actually eventually also becomes the US President in the Tom Clancy novels.
Ford was the best Jack Ryan. It's a shame we never got to see him as President Ryan in a movie of Executive Orders.
Just reading the Ryanverse books up the Bear and The Dragon made me visualize Ford as President Ryan. I can understand why he passed on Sum of All Fears back in 2000
I always consider Air Force One, the 3rd Harrison Ford/Jack Ryan movie. It just is.
If I remember correctly they never say the presidents name leading me to believe it is Jack Ryan
@@cullertransportation Uh, yes they do, he was President Marshall. The film would definitely fit in as a Clancy film though.

The fact that you (and your sister) are SO invested in each movie makes re-watching old favorites so much more fun.
This was awesome, thanks again!
I agree!!!!! I laugh again.... cry again, cheer again!
Still can't believe Oldman was Dracula. He really wears a costume well. Kind of amazing.
Can't forget Oldman as Norman Stansfield in Leon.
@@KngOfTheBlind EVERYONE!!!
JFK had my favourite Gary Oldman performance, as Lee Harvey Oswald.
All the actions of the secret service and the military sacrificing themselves for the President is a big part of what made this movie so good.
Yes, the Major who stood by the president through pretty much the entire ordeal and died right at the end was my favourite of everyone (except for Harrison Ford)
"You need a gun, Mr. President!" One of my favorite reactions from Cassie
Classic Cassyism.
34:10 that sacrifice move always gets me. So patriotic
The "oh-my-gosh-counter" was working at top capacity in this one 🤣
Great reaction to this classic 90s action flick 💯😎
I always though Presindent David Palmer and Secret Service agent Aaron Pierce were the two most decent and honorable characters on 24.

He's definitely not afraid of a good death scene.
Oooh best villain ever.
The International Version is the better film, by some margin (omitting the Russian roulette and full training scenes is such a shame), but Americans do get very distracted by the discomfort… Not sure how Cassie specifically would feel about it 🤔

Dean Stockwell is another great actor. I loved the original Quantum Leap. Him and Scott Bakula were amazing together. I hate the new one though. It has none of the charm of the original imo.

The entire tone of the film changes with the Melanie Mitchell scene.
She was so nice. And had the hots got Gary Oldman. Which made her murder that much more cold-blooded.
Gary Oldman is deff a top tier actor. Such an amazing range of characters.

Yeah it's just gravity. If one plane is lower than the other, it's like ziplining with a lot of wind.
Those circumstances would be pretty brutal though, they were already low for the parachutes, then they lost power and started losing altitude in a glide, having to stay lower than them would be some risky piloting.
Favorite movie President, far ahead of the rest: Kevin Kline in "Dave", costarring Sigourney Weaver. Great movie!
Probably already mentioned, but considering this was made 3 years after "Clear and Present Danger", you can almost view it as the the third Harrison Ford 'Jack Ryan' movie. (It fits really well, as he becomes president in the novels later on)
It really is the closest we ever got to a Harrison Ford version of "Executive Orders."
You forgot Das Boot....
This is such a good movie, and Gary Oldman is a phenomenal actor, especially when playing villains. You should check out "The Fifth Element", Bruce Willis as the good guy, Gary Oldman as the bad guy. Crazy, silly, fun movie.
Seconding this; 5th Element is wacky as hell, but it's great fun, with a bangin' soundtrack, and Oldman is completely outrageous in it.
For me, Gary Oldman was brilliant in this and fifth element and he's best performance was in Leon. He was fantastic in that.
Fifth Element is one of my favorite movies.
Spec ops do all sorts of crazy shit.
They call that the Skyhook, as seen "performed" in Batman: The Dark Knight
I believe its not done as much anymore because it is a highly dangerous evac strategy and special forces soldiers have more options now, but its still executed in a pinch
The gulag where Radek is kept is the same prison used in The Shawshank Redeption. When Ivan gives his thumbprint for a background check near the beginning of the film, the date of birth that comes up among his info (3/21/58) is Gary Oldman's real birthday. I disagree about Alice, I thought she was great for her age. I love her scene face to face with Oldman.
But that's what's great about Alice. She's just like her parents. She's not buying Korshunov's bs. Btw, the girl who played Alice was richer than any other actor in the movie. She is a billionaire member of the Pritzker family.

Several actors had hard times getting parts in the beginning and had side jobs
Fun fact. When she saw Star Wars for the first time, Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas Saw Han Solo for the first time and did a double-take before shouting, "That's my pot dealer!"
@@elessartelcontar9415 It was George Lucas who hired him in 1972. Spielberg only worked with Ford in 1980.
Really looking forward to this one! 😊
"Get off my plane!" Such an epic quote from this movie.
What I love most about the hijacking scene is not only the action but the music is really good for it
I'm British.
Love that man.👍
Don't forget Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
Darkest Hour seemed really bizarre. He gave a great performance in it though.
It's almost as if the President's speeches in that movie were written for Morgan Freeman. You can't imagine any other actor in that role.
_Deep Impact_ > _Armageddon_
*"Wait, does he even know how to fly a plane???"*
- Yet again you got me laughing out of nowhere 🤣🤣🤣
How much harder can it be, than the Millennium Falcon??
🤪
I’m pretty sure Mr. Ditkovich has high knowledge during his years at the Air Force
Another "plane" movie I think you and your sis would love reacting to is *Con Air.* 100% action start to finish and a loaded cast of stars.
I will instead suggest 1996's Executive Decision, with Kurt Russell and Steven Seagal.
And shhhhh. Don't spoil it for those who haven't seen it
I second that. And The Rock.
@@mblackwl Good choice as well. Also, would Cassie or Carla know who Seagal is?? I almost suggested a few of his movies but didn't for that reason.
@@abeclark524 The Rock is currently on Patreon, coming to youtube soon --> www.patreon.com/posts/rock-1996-full-79267981
Put the BUNNY back in the BAG
The fighter pilot sacrificing himself by flying in front of the missile still gets me! Another great president movie is The American President with Michael Douglas.
That pilot surely would have received the CMH, posthumously.
You are in danger; you realize?
Another brilliant reaction Cassie... if you want to see another great Gary Oldman performance watch, Leon The Professional (extended cut) ... a true masterpiece!
35:08 - Exactly what I was thinking! Why expose yourself as the bad guy when there’s no one else left?
I got into this movie for Harrison Ford, and ended up loving it for Gary Oldman....
Some of my favorite fictional presidents are Thomas Whitmore (Independence Day), Henry Hayes (StarGate SG-1), and Benjamin Asher (Olympus/London Has Fallen). This one's also really good. :D
Also, yes, Gary Oldman literally seems to disappear into practically every role he plays.
Henry Hayes was a badass mutherfucka. "Consider your resignation accepted Bob." "You can't do that." "Oh, please. I got enough on you to have you shot."
Henry Hayes with his "Never going to happen!" was great
@@Petrosman "Too much?"
William Devane was the (unnamed) President in The Dark Knight Rises, so in my mind, Henry Hayes was President in that reality too.
@@Starsaber222 And Tealc was a gangster terrorist. So how weded are you to the SG1 Batman shared universe?
You should watch "Executive Decision " with Kurt Russell. You'd love that one
My favorite movie President was Kevin Kline in the movie Dave, I know he was just filling in for the real President who was in a Coma.
Gary Oldman is one of the great British Actors for sure, he family home isnt far from me where he grew up! he Directed a movie based on hes life called NIL BY MOUTH, awesome movie
React to "Witness" from 1985. Harrison Ford plays a police detective protecting an Amish boy who witnessed a murder.
I just rewatched this with my parents the other day. My mom always loved Harrison Ford haha. Excited for this!
One of my all time favorite movies could never watch it with someone else lol ford in his prime Gary oldmen in his prime or close to just a perfect movie
I saw a part of this movie being made, they were using a Boy Scout Camp in Ohio for the 2nd unit shots of the SEALs rescuing the escape capsule, while my troop was camped out nearby. Pretty neat.
Which camp? I was a scout in Ohio just curious if i was at that camp at all.
@@richardb261 if I recall correctly it was either Chief Logan Reservation or Camp Oyo.
I don't believe that the pod is one of them though. I'm sure I've read that that part was fictional.
Just goes to show his acting chops😁
*Two Rules To Live By:*
1. Stay off of Harrison Ford's plane.
2. Stay off of Clint Eastwood's lawn.
You forgot:
3. Stay away from Keanu Reeves's pets.
4. Stay away from Denzel Washington's friends.
