  • Classic old Super 8mm film footage of Buzz Fyhrie while he was at, practicing for, qualifying for and racing in the SCCA A-Production class (big block Corvettes & Cobras) with some additional shots of Paul Newman racing in the SCCA D-Production class. I started 8th and finished 5th in A/P. Paul won in his class.

I was there this year. Nothing was better than Road At Runoffs in those days.

Thank you so much for this memory. I was there! I was 19 years old and had driven down with my best friend the night before from Greenville, S.C.. We slept in my BMW 2002, and had cold beer for breakfast. Seeing Mr. Newman race was a highlight, and I saw him race many times in several venues. I went back dozens of times in the next 20 years. Wonderful place...red clay and all. Great audio from your 'Vette. As Mr. Newman once said in an interview...The best sound ever is a V8.

Yes it was truly a scary corner - the downhill is much steeper than it looks on film now days. #75HP '75 and '76
