    This simple DIY camera slider mod can be applied to motorise many sliders. It's simple to do, very effective and the components are cheap to buy at around $30. There are lots of options for powering the slider as well as customising the range of speeds.
    This video has many slider samples featuring the Panasonic G9 and Olympus 60mm macro lens. The rest of the content was filmed by the Panasonic G80 with 12-60mm kit lens.

      Most modern sliders use a stepper motor which does just that, they step, all be it small but they step none the less. The stepping is especially noticeable at slow speeds. That's my main reason for using a DC motor in this mod.

    I was looking for a good cheap motorized slider for small product presentation. I personally hate micro jitters and I want my post stabilization to be minimal. I have to say that your footage looks hypersmooth!! I dont think that anything under 500$ can come close to it. I am Impressed I will make one!

    Awesome DIY! You choice for 3rpm is to suit macro videos right? Whats the motor speed you'd recommend for, say an interview shoot?

      If you already have a slider then do some test movements at the speed you think looks right for you. Calculate the speed at which you move the camera (I use cm /minute) then realise that a 3rpm motor at the maximum 12v power supply will move at around 21cm per minute, if you want to move at 100 cm per minute then you will need a motor of approximately of 15rpm. Personally I would go for very long zooms/pans so max 6rpm for me but your preference may be different and that's OK.

      It's not really designed for time lapse. You could build a similar item with a stepper motor. Of course you would need a suitable controller for the motor.

    BUT BRO 3RPM is really slow can't it be any faster?

      It does mention in the video that a 3rpm motor at 12 volts will travel up to 21cm per minute. If you want double that speed then use a 6rpm or four times then a 12rpm motor. There are lots of different motor speeds available, use the rule above to calculate the max speed. Hope that helps.

      You would think. Tried stepper motors but the clue is in the name. They step. When examined closely stepper motors will show tiny steps between frames no matter what the motor resolution. This is why most articles with stepper motors market themselves as time-lapse capable rather than for video panning etc.

      @@allthestuffwedo Did you try it with trinamic chip(not tmc2200 - I talk about such 5130 which include motion engine in it). There is no vibration or something like that(of course you have to optimize mode of the chip)
