Hey team! Please if you can drop a comment, like and subscribe! It really helps the channel and means I can but more time/money into making professional content 🔥🌟✌🏽
Great review! Yhank you! I am OK with no fancy AMOLED. I am with Vertical and the enormous battery life is really impressive. I train for Ironman distances - battery and GPS accuracy are important features.
It’s like asking a mother which her favourite child is 😉 I like both for different reasons. For adventure I prefer Suunto, for daily tracking I definitely prefer Garmin. Right now I’m really enjoying Suunto Race. It’s refreshing, new, different.. breath of fresh air. But I am new to Suunto and have used Garmin for about a decade so I’m sure when Garmin come out with an Enduro 3, Fenix 8, Epix Gen3 I’ll be pulled to the other side of the court again 👍🏽 Cheers for the comment 👊🏽🔥
Hi,great video. But when you are comparing maps make sure both maps are on equal settings. The vertical was down to 200 meters and the race 500 meters. Just an observation.
Thankyou so much for the comment and honest feedback! It’s noted and appreciated 🌟 I was only really trying to emphasise that on vertical you have outdoor/high contrast/dark map modes vs Race’s Light/Dark mode so overlooked this.. I definitely should have made them the same zoom level for the viewers! Always learning 👊🏽🔥
Major thanks Alan!! Yeah, it’s a tough decision for sure! Just trust your gut instinct. Only major difference really is the battery life which are worlds apart, you either need the extra battery or you don’t.. apart from that, go with whichever one you feel is right 🌟
A pleasure Shane! It’s pretty much done, I originally planned to hold out for the Race Update which was suppose to be here about 3 weeks ago I believe but no sign of it so I’ll put a video out next week 🌟
It is actually! But tbh this video goes through the main differences. It really is as simple as do you want more battery life or a nicer screen really.. along with the other things mentioned in this video. There’s not much else to it I’ve found from fully testing the Race 🔥
Hello, i do also like you 100 milers or more and want ro buy the Suunto Vertical or the Coros Vertix 2 because of battery life. Which model of the 2 has the best map and navigation skills in your honest opinion? Thanks for advice! You're reviews are great! 👌👌
Hey Gino! The Suunto Vertical is a newer device and I think it shows 🔥 The weight and battery life ratio of the Titanium Solar Vertical is industry leading and the accuracy is unrivalled and hasn’t let me down yet! The app on Suunto is pretty impressive too, you can whip up a highly detailed GPX and have it sent to your watch in less than a minute. The Vertix 2 did extremely impress me with the battery life on the 268 mile spine race I ran for 5 and a half days, didn’t charge it once (didn’t track activity, only used maps when I needed to) and finished with 30% battery life on that watch 🤯 The comfort wasn’t great, it felt heavy, was awkward to fit around clothing and did make my wrist bleed. Another fantastic thing about Coros is their maps are already pre-downloaded. If you’re flying to obscure countries (i took like to Barbados for example) there’s a good chance you’ll get better detail on Coros. Suunto’s map do cover all of Europe, USA, all the big countries but I found some regions (like Barbados) were completely missing :) Good to bear in mind if you travel a lot. One more thing I’ll point out with Coros is that I’ve heard rumours of athletes being spotted with the Coros Vertix 3 and it seems like the release of Coros’ new watch is pretty much imminent at this point.. it’s a bad time to buy a Vertix 2. If you need a watch now, I’d suggest the Vertical for this reason or to wait ❤️ Hope this helps 👊🏽
@@ActiveIdeas Thanks man! You're the best! Using now the 9 Peak Pro, also a great watch. So i know the Suunto app. I will go for the Suunto Vertical! 😉 Greetings from Belgium.
For the same price, definitely! The Epix pro 51mm is like a £1000 watch here in the UK. I’d love to test it but I can’t justify that price tag for that mediocre (amoled) battery life. The reason I’ve never tested an Epix on this channel is because when it comes down to what matters I personally prefer MIP screens with more battery life for my training/ultras 👍🏽 Hope this helps Adam 🌟
Thanks so much for the comment Ali! Tbh, I’m really not sure what the differences are going to be.. any day (probably this week I’m expecting) a pretty big update is coming to the Race and I’m not sure if they will have the Race and Vertical performing similarly for things such as sleep, HRV (heart rate accuracy) and stress (Suunto call resources).. stay tuned though cause as soon as they drop that update, I’ll drop that comparison video 🔥👊🏽
@@ActiveIdeas Finally pulled the trigger on the Vertical! (titanium solar, I live in Arizona so plenty of sunshine ☀) 😊 Battery life definitely was a major factor plus the navigation. Thanks again for the great comparisons. Cheers mate. 😁👊
Yesss mate! 🔥 Hope you enjoy it and have some good adventures! Would love to visit Arizona one day, you’ve got some awesome trails over in USA! Don’t forget to download the maps through the Suunto app onto the watch before heading out into the trails ;) An absolute pleasure mate, cheers again!
Hi Kingsley, Could you help me out, I work nights and my sleep tracking on my race won’t track when I sleep during the day, it just says am napping 🙄 any ideas.
Welcome back Mike! Ahh, this sounds super annoying, I’ve had it happen to me a few times where it registers naps instead of sleeps. The only thing I can think of is changing your estimated sleep hours on the watch to the hours during the day that you sleep and trying to dial that in. Hopefully that works, I’m guessing you’ve already tried it though! 😅 If so you might just have to take the loss on this one but I’ll try and mention it in my videos more (watches need to support night shift workers)

@@ActiveIdeas thanks for the info. It seems like it would be a bit of a pain to have to keep activating it vs the vertical. Do find that to be the case?

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me verifying something. I bought a Vertical and discovered a bug that makes me wonder whether it's a software problem or maybe it's something with my watch. So when I choose navigation to a POI in mermaid or snorkeling mode, there are like 5 progress displays that I can scroll thru, activity and the last 2 are the map and a compass showing remaining distance, but for some reason when I go from a map view to compass my screen goes totally black instead of compass, nothing else, after pressing middle button one more time compass shows for a fraction of a sec, and then goes back to 1st display. Do you by any chance have the same issue with your Vertical or its only mine? (Watch has updated software to the newest one, resetting doesnt help either) I will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
Unfortunately there’s going to be absolutely no scenario in the near future where I’d use the mermaid or snorkelling mode … and especially not with navigation as I don’t have the balls to venture too far from the beach 🤭 Might be worth dropping this question on the website “Suunto community forum” where you might have more luck, plus access to software developers ❤️ Hope this helps 🔥
Quality is the same, only difference is the weight I believe 👍🏽 on vertical the titanium also comes with solar so there’s that to consider.. but I do like the colour of the Steel versions tbh .. the black steel Vertical looks 🔥😍
Happens to all of us 🙈 I won’t lie.. I had an affair with the race for a couple of months. I - loved - every - second. But sheepishly getting back with the Vertical recently whilst Abie tests the Race was a reminder of why Suunto’s Solar and MIP is sooo powerful. Battery life worries just isn’t a thing with the Vertical and in every day life, for me, it’s been a blessing. There’s no denying though that the Race, at its price point is the best deal in the market today 🔥
That’s a tough decision mate.. If you don’t need the battery life I’d probably sway you towards the Race as it is a pleasure to use and tbh compared to allllll of the competition on the market .. it is the best value for money 💰You’re getting a device that other companies are charging at least €300 more for similar features, amoled screen, titanium casing, sapphire bezels. The battery life on the race is still great, you’ll get 40 hours GPS without charging. And can charge the watch during activities if you do any multi-stage ultras. Also, I think if you get a vertical you should at least consider the solar one as the solar technology in this watch makes battery life absolutely crazy.. if you don’t need solar, arguably, you don’t need the vertical ❤️ Hope this helps 🔥
@@ActiveIdeas Yes, you helped me a lot, bu I'm still a little worried about the fact that it's made in China, so I'm not sure how much it affects the quality itself? Or maybe it's just our prejudices... :)
I had those prejudices too tbh! But honestly the build quality is fantastic. Arguably, some might find it better, for example I really like that they engraved Suunto on to the watches bezel (south of the watchface)and added Suunto engraved onto the side (west of the watchface). Little attentions to detail. I also lended the watch to co-host Abie who is abit more chaotic (she’s always doing something mad like hyrox or scrambling up a mountain on the weekend) with her watches and it survived that without a mark on the screen, bezel and crown still spins smoothly. One thing to consider though is the environmental impact, I have no idea what the impact is on the race whereas Vertical is abit more clear, probably the more ethical choice ❤️
Haha ! Quand les gens dépensent plus de €700, ils veulent connaître chaque petit détail. Il existe davantage de différences entre ces montres AMOLED et MIP spécifiques.
Yeah, impressively, most Suunto watches that I’ve tested have been made in Finland.. both the Vertical titanium AND Vertical Steel being among the many watches made in Finland 🔥 Great build quality, and environmentally they’ve fully carbon compensated for this watch which is cool 😎

@@ActiveIdeas Thanks
