- The Mustang was one of the best and most effective combat aircraft of World War 2. It proved to be a powerful and most versatile weapon. The Mustang Mk.III (derived from the P-51B/C) serving with the RAF entered service in February 1944, its most distinctive feature being the Malcolm Hood giving better visibility. It was used as an escort fighter for bomb formations, a fighter-bomber and for reconnaissance missions in Europe until the end of the war. The P-51C reached a top speed of 711 km/h.

The P-51C is basically the same plane as the P-51B. Identical specs and armament.
The difference is that the B-model was built at the original North American factory in Inglewood, California. The P-51C was built at the NAA factory in Dallas, TX which was expanded for production.
The model here is built as the standard factory issue P-51C with a "razorback" streamlined canopy. A lot of P-51B's and C-models were later retrofit in the field with Malcolm Hood, a type of a bubble canopy that fit into the existing canopy frame (with minor modifications) and bulged outward to give better rearward visibility, a big weakness in razorback fighter-types. The Malcolm Hood was originally developed for the Spitfire and was adapted for the P-51 and F4U Corsair.
By far one of the best representations of a World War II aircraft I've ever seen on the internet. If you put a background with fields and made the picture black and white, you would have tricked me for the real thing. Mighty fine work, keep it up.

I recently built this but could not for the life of me get the rear parts of the canopy to sit fully flush. the model still turned out just fine and it's a nice and easy build for anyone looking for something a bit more simple and cheap. As you display in this video, the result really doesn't have to be one bit short of great :)

Today's Revell is not the Revell of old. When I was a kid they were producing kits which, in some cases, were wildly inaccurate. Some were OK but the standard of the day was nothing like now. Today they are delivering superb kits! In this case what we are seeing here is the excellent Tamiya kit rebadged. I'm guessing that Tamiya ceased producing this superb kit and Revell stepped up. That's good because this kit is too good to cease producing. They have rebadged some excellent Airfix models as well. Revell is doing good!!

Why do you put Contacta Liquid on the tips of the wings? Is it then better to grind it so that it is smoother?And why do you sometimes use Contacta Liquid to glue the parts together?

When you do the free hand paint scheme what PSI are you using? and what size needle do you have in your air brush? Ive been out of modeling for about 8 years and just getting back into it. I have a me-109 and a fw-190 i need to finish but Ive been putting it off because my air brush skills arent up to par and I want to make a convincing mottling effect in their paint schemes.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that someone(usually English)had the idea after delivery of the Allison model, to put a R.R. engine in the P51.
North American had previously put a R.R. engine in the P40.
So, N.A. designed the P51 from the start with either an Allison or R.R. engine capability.
Can you share please;
-Did you paint with Revell Aqua or Emanel?
-What kind of thinner did you use with Revell paints?
-Which ratio did you use to thin the revell Paint?
-What PSİ/bar did you set your compressor during painting large parts and small areas(like camo)?

Hi Wolf, In this video on some areas I used Aqua colors but also I used Enamel paints (for the cammo only Enamel paints). With Revell paints I am using Revell color mix (agua mix). Mix is mostly standard 50-50 mix and for free-hand sometimes I use 60-40 mix with lower pressure for freehand. (Air pressure 1,2-1,6 Bar). But this can slightly vary depending on your airbrush and might require different setup. All the best! Dusan.

what brush do u use for small details? and what is your paint to thinner ratio in the airbrush? greetings. and also, what is the main difference between aqua and email paint from revell?
Email is oil-based enamel, Aqua is water soluble acrylic. The latter to my mind is similar in consistency to Vallejo and hand brushes quite nicely.

Just curious: why do you always assemble your models with the flaps down?
Flaps down on tarmac or during taxi is a signal to the tower that the aircraft had been hijacked.I am just joking here! ;-)

What did your custom wash consist of may I ask?
Sometimes Enamel paint for example brown/black color or d.gray but highly diluted. Sometimes I mix thinner with raw pigments. (You should use warnish to seal it). All the best! Dusan.
Great build but I'm a little confused. I got the RMX version of the P-51 B/C (since the RoG kits versions are not always available here in the states) and man was that RMX kit horrible. Looked great on the sprues but the fit left much to be desired. The real problem was the canopy glass, it's was near impossible to get a good fit. If the RoG version is a re-pop of the ICM kit who the heck made the RMX version? Just asking since the RMX kit is horrible.

great video man I like the RAF camo for the P-51 Mustang so much. It is so much better looking than the USAAF camp for the P-51 Mustang.
I'm building the Tamyia version and with a few minor exceptions, the kit looks very similar.
thats because this is the ICM kit, in a revell box. the ICM kit is a slightly modified Tamiya kit
please build revell 1/48 or 1/32 heinkel he 111 :-)

The red tail P51c of which some were flown by the Tuskeegee air men of 399th fighter escort group. I'm probably wrong.👍😁🦘🇭🇲
The Red Tails flew the C-model but they also got the D-model later like most of the existing P-51 squadrons did as well as American squadrons that transitioned from the P-47 and P-38 to the P-51. The main reason for standardization was economics -- the P-51 was about half the cost of a P-47 Thunderbolt or the P-38 Lightning and simpler to service and maintain.
They operated B and C models of the Mustang through the end of the war but lost/destroyed/worn out B and C Mustangs were replaced by D-models since that was the most produced model of the P-51.
Revell also issued this kit in 1/32 scale, it was basically their P-51B with a Malcolm hood and sold as an RAF Mustang III. I'm going to build it with markings for Bud Anderson's "OLD CROW".
