In todays vlog you see Chris and Becks channel their inner pirate as they go pillaging (in a non violent kind of way) the marina for loot they can turn into Narrowboat treasure! Becks does love to recycle and upcycle materials where she can for their ongoing DIY narrowboat restoration!
They also uncover the dirty secrets hidden below deck as they lift and reveal the last boarded over section of their houseboat bilges. Will it be a leaky nightmare, a rusty tidal highway or a bilge lovers dream!?
Pray for us!

Crobots, your setting the standard in narrowboat restoration motivation techniques, “never ever give up” and “try something else” 😊good on you. 18:17
Aww thanks so much! A positive attitude goes a long way 😊
Those metal contraptions are "nappy pins" you use them to moor where there is armco edging to the cut, drop the pid sideways behind the armco, then turn it 90 degrees so the hook looks over the armco, them tie on to the top loop
thanks for clearing that up Dave, its probably a much better way of mooring the boat id imagine? soon will be professionals
They can be noisy when in use as they clank against the Armco, but they’re more secure than mooring pins. We use mooring chains instead, they go around the Armco, thread through each other via the rings at each end and then the mooring rope goes through the ring on the end of the one that you’ve pulled through. We then tie off on the boat - it helps stop any local scallywags from untying you for the fun of it.
As a fan of copper, I love what Becks does with it!
Aww thank you! Well keep watching as we've got some more coming your way ☺️
New Boat builders wet and rusty dream channel. :)
yes unfortunately haha
You could get a non slip shower mat for your tray to keep your little toes nice and warm.
now thats a grand idea
I’m with you Becca…it’s recycling/repurposing! As they say “One man’s rubbish, is another man’s treasure!” I’m “one of those people too!” Lol
You’re such a lovely couple with great personalities and a fab sense of humour! Every episode is filled with fun and laughs. Even in the ones where things have gone wrong, you still manage to see the funny side of things and laugh at yourselves. It’s very endearing. 🤗
I really look forward to watching them and you’re by far my fav narrowboat channel!
Take care 🤗🌻xx
dont give Becca more excuses hehe im joking its a great idea really, thanks so much for enjoying what we put out, the support has been amazing, thats such a lovely thing to say and makes it all so worth it, take care xx
Ahh the boat that Becks built 😉
exactly
When you do eventually set off on your travels and get to The Land of The Canals, you’ll often find stuff that is perfectly useable left by the bins at the Canal and River Trust’s facilities for anyone who wants it. The best ‘swap shop’ I’ve seen was at Norbury Junction where there was a whole room full of bits and bobs in the building housing the showers. You’ll also often find books and magazines to take on the window cills of the C&RT toilets along the way.
oh woaw thats so cool, thanks for the advice Sheila, such a lovely community ...Becca is going to be fully in her element , thanks for your comment
Luv how you upcycled a free bit of pipe into an expensive trip to the store? lol enjoying your work all the best phil
thats actually a very good point, shes out of control and needs to be stopped, cheers Phil
May have chuckled a little when Chris said ‘check out this flooded landing strip’ 👀 👀 😂😂
haha thank you and sorry
You two are going to write on book on narrowboat DIY. Thanks for the shout out rippers. I've been dying to come back but the rivers way up now I'm heading to the Nene. Hopefully see you guys cruising the cut.
yeah the rivers been pretty crazing up here buddy, haha cheers Will a book about narroboaters that never get to use there boat...could be a hit???
Nice to have such a local couple based just down the A1 from me. I have had a drink in the mill pub and my son worked in the screwfix. You’re very brave to look under the boards, I wouldn’t have a clue, great vlog. .
oh amazing what a small world, glad you recognise the area, sometimes I wish we hadn't look and had just got moving , thanks for your comment
Ha my hot water bottle is called Jeremy !! Ah thank you guys for making me smile xx
everyone needs to name there hot water bottles... especially if it comes in the character of a cute fluffy animal
@@TheNomadicCrobot mines a 🦒giraffe !!
Amazing 🥰
Nappy Pins to you 🤣🤣 Use when mooring on armco barrier sections
thats interesting...I think I need to get researching thanks Jonathan
Loving your videos, your attitude is so good! Just get on & keep smiling 🙂 ❤
Thanks so much for your lovely comment
I'm over here,in New Zealand 👋
I absolutely adore your attitudes. Just because I'm thousands of miles away doesn't mean I can't appreciate all you have done and are doing now. You both have such grand personalities and work ethic.
We don't have narrow boat's here, obviously, sure doesn't stop us landlubbers from appreciating what it takes year round to keep everything shipshape.💐. Great vid. Thanx
hi from the uk Sandra, thanks for understanding how much work goes into such a project, its never ending and will probably continue to be never ending, its all great fun really until the money runs out take care
@@TheNomadicCrobot yes it will be "Neverending". And will always need money for some repair or another but I understand why you would love the lifestyle on the canal's/waterways. I follow a narrow boater, and she does it all solo. And yeah she always has issues even after quite a few years narrow boating. It will all be worth it. Great channel you two. 👏.
Love watching all of your videos ❤
Thanks so much Gregg 😊
Becks, you are super smart and handy, how did you get so inventive?
Aww that's such a lovely thing to say, thanks Marietjie 🥰 I don't know really! I have always been quite a curiosity driven person and liked to experiment and give things a go. My mum and dad have both instilled that in me too 🥰
Your videos bring me such joy. I look forward to each new video!!!!
Thanks so much that really makes it all worth while
Maybe a bath mat to keep your tootsie’s warm but your constantly lifting them and cleaning under them, they can get really yucky. Love the idea of the added copper. I wondered about under the floor in the lounge room, sorry Saloon, it sure as hell could have been worse, it’s looking like only a scrap and a clean up but do things ever go that easy for the Crobots? Ha ha I’ve left you with a cliff hanger this time Chris. LOL. Thanks guys great to see you, stay safe and see you soon. 💕
hehe I think a mat of some sort is definitely in order, Becca has done some great things with this copper wait till you see her new rack. yes we were expecting some rust, it shouldn't actually take too long to fix, thanks for the cliff hanger and for repaying the favour take care Pauline
Pregnancy test baster‼️🤣😂👏🏼thanks for the video guys you rock‼️😎
thank you for the support sunny
8:47 Screw Fix is after Chris' heart. 😁❤
absolutely...a very exciting experience
You should weld copper fitting but try Glue no gas plant to weld with
thanks for the advice Jim
Good video thanks lee
thanks Lee
For the shower pan. You could buy (find) some teak wood and build a grate that would fit inside it. Have drainage without standing on the metal.
When you said you haven't moved since you bought it. You have..........to the other side of the dock LOL
thats a cracking idea, we need something or it will get very cold, I might sleep in it in the summer to cool down....haha well yeah weve moved a tiny tiny bit...but we havent really had the chance at all to experience real off grid living
When you get that boat on the canal. Drive it carefully 😂😂😂
will it ever get to the canal??
@The Nomadic Crobot 😍 I have faith in you guys. There again sure Becks could turn the bad boy into a submarine dead easy 😁😍😁
All the best from Canada A.
Hi from the UK Garyl thanks for the support
Omg😱 is there going to be an end to this incontince under the floors 🤣
I think you need to call in a urologist.🤣
Oh sorry I'm beginning to treat it like a human.😅 Do hope you both cruise soon before you loose your sea legs.😂
I'm so enjoying the craziness ❤
it never ends haha we were expecting it in fairness, and it was actually better than we thought, thanks always Sheila
The 'Drilly-Willie' EH?? .... You remember 'The Farm' then & the Infamous #RebeccaLoos ??? 😂🤣😂🤣
haha sorry count help myself
Shout out to Humphrey 🥳
we looooove Humphrey
Sum up narrow boats, all the romance and dreams? Simples! Special needs 😂
It's not quite what it's cracked up to be
@@TheNomadicCrobot being a widebeamer I’ll have twice the fun in 15 years…… having bought my boat from a didn’t quite finish jobs or didn’t quite do it right type 9 months in and the list goes on.
Nice one I wud be more worried if u did not find any water down there have a Top week 🙂🔧🎸✌️
thanks Lee for the confidence have a great week
Those big metal things are safety pin mooring hooks.
interesting...god knows how to use them haha
@@TheNomadicCrobot Becs was right when she said they are used with mooring ropes. Your rope goes through the top of the pin & you drop the pin between the bank side & the steel Armco (rope end at the top). The hook catches under the Armco.
Anyway, you probably know that Becs is always right😊
Great insight as usual guys brilliant 😅😊
thanks Brian
Hi Becca, Chris. Glad your wood has dried out ready to be re-glued to the floor. Nice bit of re-purposing with the shelf unit. I'm liking your new brass kitchen rail, what a great idea. Beca you have many great ideas. So pleased for you both that there was no water under your living room floor. And of course I loved the Dramatic music, thank you for that Chris. Have a great week. Take Care.
it actually didn't look to bad at all, so happy that its nothing to serious , Becca is full of ideas bless her and she's really rolling with all this copper. I cant help myself with the dramatic music these days haha take care and see you next week
Thanks!
Thanks so much Sandra you are far to kind , we are overwhelmed by the support we have, hopefully we can start cruising soon :)
@@TheNomadicCrobot you are very welcome 🤗. Wish it was more.
Glad to see the lounge floor was dry, Becks can now watch Chris treat it and paint it 😄
its about time haha
More flakey rust in the torpedo room eh! HMS Crowbot must get 5 more miles per gallon after the weight reduction.😁 Thanks for the video guys.🙂
just when you thought all the rust was gone thank you
The two of you just keep me smiling. So happy under the floor was for the most part dry! Really like the rack Bex. Best wishes for a fun and safe week. Deb
Thanks Deb, it actually wasn't to bad and nothing to serious ...these things tend to look worse than they actually are, take care
Strange that B&Q and Screwfix are under the parent company Kingfisher. The prices vary wildly though.😎😎
they really do some bits are double the price, its worth checking
This is really an episode going my way! I'm fond of rust, especially on Narrowboats! Thank you very much.
And remember DIWSH! 😛😛
haha were glad we can treat you to a lovely bit of wombat rust...see you thought that was it haha cheers Rolf
Great up cycling 😊 nice drawer unit and coal scuttle 😊lovely video thanks 😊
thanks for enjoying Rickon
Thanks
Thank you Doug for the support, we're both absolutely blown away by your generosity ❤️
Just keep it up you two are like a breath of fresh air and you get on together so well.Doug
When you redo the living room floor, consider leaving some small floor mounted vents which are countersunk. That way condensation won't be an issue in the longer term.
its funny Weve actually just been discussing putting more vents in that area, thanks for the tip
05:30, I come from Brighton and it wouldn't go in my Belly Button. Hellooooooo Matron 🙂
oi oi haha...iv chosen the wrong profession
Wombles 😃
always haha
It's called upcycling ❗
thank you
First again.
yay
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Think of all the Crobot-eating rust spiders that could be in those bilges. Oops. Did I use my outside voice just now?
you didn't just say that???? imagine how fat and large they would be from all the rust
nothing wrong with a bit of wombling
exactly
What are these are called nappy pins you slot them into armco to tie you boat up
thanks Wayne
Loved this as usual, need to get in our bilges but dreading it i don't think we even have an inspection hatch but need to rip the kitchen floor up. Had our narrowboat 6 months now your videos are so true to narrowboat life thanks guys ❤
Thank you Jayne,do you have a bilge pump down there?? most boats do ours unfortunately didn't an no way whatsoever to get down there without removing the floor, I imagine there's a lot of boats with this problem, im not sure how much can go too wrong for a long time, thanks for watching
@@TheNomadicCrobot we have a bilge pump in the engine bay but I'm not sure there's one under the floor, we had a flood couple of weeks in, in the early hours one of the jubilee clips had come off a pipe under the sink ( we didn't know to turn the pump switch off then 🙈 ) i thought we were sinking as we were paddling in water... the joys of boating 😅 xx
@@jaynevassar6526 oh no that sounds like a nightmare, this is the beauty of living on a boat hehe hope you've got a bit more used to it now, it's all such a huge Learning curve xx
@@TheNomadicCrobot your right there it certainly is and yes getting a bit more used to it now, can't wait for summer 🌞xx
I need another episode
sorry Simon were behind again :(
@@TheNomadicCrobot tut tut lol
Where do you stay while you're doing the boat up?
we stay on the boat most of the time but do head off for a few days in the week to get washing done and see our families
girls had power tool before us men
Exactly
Hi Crowbots We have just replaced our 12v undercounter fridge freezer with 2 larger singles. Would you like the one we removed? it was fully working just not big enough. If so I can drop it off in Eaton Socon I am only 20 Mins away. Love the channel keep up the good work
Oh woaw thanks for your kind offer Gary, what is the size of it? We already have a tiny one but we're actually looking for something a bit larger, thanks again for your generosity
@@TheNomadicCrobot it is 630 tall by 480 wide
Make that 830 tall it has been a long day!!
Thanks so much Gary, that would be amazing thank you. So sorry for the delay, we have been stuck into building things on the boat! When would be convenient to arrange a drop off? Alternatively we are more than happy to collect to save you from coming out?
@@TheNomadicCrobot I can drop off today or tomorrow if you are about
Will we get a easter special?
Unfortunately probably not unless we can 'hatch' something soon, but we are have got 2 new video ready so one will go up tomorrow, maybe will throw one up Sunday too for fun, thanks Simon for the support it really is appreciated 😀 👍
@@TheNomadicCrobot once when finished I need to celebrate 🎉 with you both with burger chips and a beer 🍻
Absolutely Simon, be great to meet you and share a beer 😀
Gut it all & start from scratch, at the beginning would have been better.
yeah maybe...to late now haha
Just been watching some of your old videos and think I noticed something, Chris do you have a fat back?
I do indeed...its very hard to do anything but let Becca do all the work
You guys get all work just in time to Sell it 😂 What happens jobs like this Or maybe NOT
I hope not...we're lifers
Stripping.. removing... pulling... what ever next
exactly Simon...the crobot way
Very poor boat design causes these unnecessary problems for boaters. Top draw water from the tank instead of bottom draw then allows a completely sealed bow bulkhead.
It makes my blood pressure rise since there is a compulsory BSS certificate requirements and yet non on boat design build.
I am suffering with you both trying to get the boat ready to sail off in the sunset.
You seem happy despite your setbacks.
Keep calm and carry on.
Take great care
Keep safe warm dry and virus free both.
yes I imagine there would have to be an automated bilge pump in there too for when it feels up? we are pretty sure its condensation at this point, there's not really anywhere else for the water to be coming in from, thanks for your motivation, were absolutely dying to get out and start doing this properly take care
you must of spent £4.99 ON HOME IMPROVMENTS AND THE BOAT MUST BE WORTH £10000 LESS very satisfying
we haven't spent to much on the boat actually apart from mooring costs, it will be worth it in the end thanks John
