Hey Chris, I don’t believe Becca will be upset. Chillax! And don’t worry about the channel becoming a “project boat” channel. You are both young, attractive, talented and engaging so the vlogs are a delight. I am impressed with how you both took on the work without complaint and while Becca had some serious skills to start, you are becoming a competent DIYer too. And please give yourself a pat on the back for your great editing skills. I love the fun tricks and sound effects. As a former “home flipper” I am very impressed with Becca’s unique designs and her patient and detailed oriented approach. It’s also fun to see you both chill out and play some tunes together.
No Becca was cool with it, its unfortunately not the way me or Becca would have done it now, but at least there on tight, and its something we can always work on in the future, my main problem with using just a hard glue was that eventually that could fall off and it probably wouldn't take a great amount of effort for someone to break in. Thanks so much for enjoying our vlogs and for your lovely comment, Becca has been doing so well with her DIY she loves it, watch this space for more music were both itching to get some more out, take care
Chris, don't sweat it... As long as it's weathertight, and secure, the cosmetics can be done at leisure, maybe next year? Or the year after. AND you could always paint a canal boat mural on 'em.
Can't believe you havn't got the paint match sorted. Get a RAL and BS book, match the colours, then order from SML Paints. It really is very simple. Loving the vlogs.
it is but the paint on our boat has faded so we would have to get a specialised to come and scan the actual boat, do they do that?? we will be painting her in the future so no all is lost, thanks

Chris this was painful to watch. Why didn’t you just use Puraflex 40 again? You messed up because you didn’t have enough clamps and you didn’t leave the clamps on long enough, ideally the clamps would need to be on All day. I’ve fitted many doors skins on hatches. If you do go down the screwing the on route which you have, then you use brass machine screws and drill and tap them.(I don’t like this method as they eventually fail in my experience a few years down the line) but using regular wood screws will fail quicker. When I say fail I mean the body filler will fail and you’ll have little round rusty bits on every screw hole. That sikaflex would have been fine providing the clamps are left on and probably 8hrs at this time of year. Good vlogs tho!
I agree its a hard watch haha unfortunately we were unprepared as we couldn't agree which way to go with it, next time I would go with a nut and bolt idea that I had all along and then weld it from the outside so the wood is fully secured to the steel, I still don't think glue would really be strong enough for a thief and a crowbar but I could be wrong, im sure these wooden area need to be screwed in really , hope you enjoyed the disaster haha

Dumb Question. I am from America. We just take a sample to the hardware store (paint chip) they scan it and they have a computer that will mix the paint to the exact color. Do you not have this?
Yeah this seems to be the overriding suggestion from most people actually. Least we know what to do if we have to take them off for a forth time! Thanks Jonathan.
Have you tried gorilla glue It sticks even underwater and the bond is unbelievably strong They also do gorilla tape which is really good If you're looking for an extra strong glue or even an extra strong tape that won't let you down try this I use it all the time
Turning birds is the solution! Becc is always doing the simple straight forward things, like sanding. Let her do the hatches while you finish the interior! It was not your fault that someone sold bad used scaffolding boards.
😂😂 drilling the whole face WOW you screw the board in from the side all mine are like that and hatch still closes and u can't see the screws.Hate to be you when she comes back 😂😂😂😂😂
the way out hatches are designed you cant drill in from the sides really, well you could on one side I suppose, but the other doesn't have a bit of steel there, plus its marine ply so could split maybe too?? the way they were originally put on was from the front, so I wanted to replicate that really, oh dear haha thanks Andy
the existing holes are actually on the front, they were originally made that way, so I think our hatches may be slightly different to other boat hatches thanks Keith
Should have countersunk some stainless steel screws from the outside, filled them in and painted over them!
now that would have been a better idea, we panicked at the time :(

If there is a problem with them you won't be able to get em off 🤣🤣
Ha! We shall see!!
Dumb Question. I am from America. We just take a sample to the hardware store (paint chip) they scan it and they have a computer that will mix the paint to the exact color. Do you not have this?
yes we do , the problem is we dont have a sample, we will be painting the boat in the next year or so its not a huge Roble, hi from the UK :)
If we don't see you on here. We will know she has thrown you overboard
and quite possibly deserved haha
@@TheNomadicCrobot if you need a body guard I will help you out lol
DIY isn't really one of your strengths is it, but at least your getting experience at getting it right! 🙄Lol.
hopefully haha...time to learn cheers Paul
CT1 is what you need
Cheers! Will check it out.
Its easier to ask for forgiveness than permission :)
spot on
Weld nuts to door so you can tighten it to door like it was when you took them off
Meant the opposite. Weld bolts to back of door then you bolt the wood to door
Yeah this seems to be the overriding suggestion from most people actually. Least we know what to do if we have to take them off for a forth time! Thanks Jonathan.
When is Beccs birthday? it was mine on the 2nd..
the 11th of November...were a bit behind with the vlogs, happy birthday narrowboat narrowboat narrowboat Will
@@TheNomadicCrobot Ha ha cheers buddy
Have you tried gorilla glue It sticks even underwater and the bond is unbelievably strong They also do gorilla tape which is really good If you're looking for an extra strong glue or even an extra strong tape that won't let you down try this I use it all the time
A couple of people have mentioned this now so we will definitely look into it in the future. Thanks for your advise!
@@TheNomadicCrobot yes try gorilla... excellent..I used sikaflex stuff in my van...useless...not sure why people rate it ?? !!
so Bex doesn't watch the videos?
Well she will have done by now!

Ooh great thank you!

😀
Gorilla glue white in a tube it sticks much better
Good to know, thank you!
Boat life is here to test you
it really is haha cheers Simon
There’s only one positive from your DIY repairs;
botched repairs produce more comments 🥴
Haha! This is true!!!
Turning birds is the solution! Becc is always doing the simple straight forward things, like sanding. Let her do the hatches while you finish the interior! It was not your fault that someone sold bad used scaffolding boards.
I think at this point I may not touch anything anymore haha
so err who does the video editing again? I think your secret was out.
ermm I think that may be me....I should probably have edited it out haha
Are you ever going to learn to paint with a brush, or are you going to continue to daub?
Haha! I love to daub!
😂😂 drilling the whole face WOW you screw the board in from the side all mine are like that and hatch still closes and u can't see the screws.Hate to be you when she comes back 😂😂😂😂😂

09.58 on this video. Best wishes; don't beat yourself up - there should have been existing screw holes on the side edges. (Dot)
the way out hatches are designed you cant drill in from the sides really, well you could on one side I suppose, but the other doesn't have a bit of steel there, plus its marine ply so could split maybe too?? the way they were originally put on was from the front, so I wanted to replicate that really, oh dear haha thanks Andy
the existing holes are actually on the front, they were originally made that way, so I think our hatches may be slightly different to other boat hatches thanks Keith
