I like to call 2016 the golden years of the internet. It was when I really started getting into gaming, RUclipsrs were mostly good, and the internet was just a nice place to be. After that though I believe it went downhill.
2019 was the last good year of roblox, im sad that i had only first heard about it then, because if i had heard of it sooner i would've seen the good age of it

Been playing since 2012. I personally consider the era of 2012-2016 the golden age of Roblox, where things seemed to be much simpler and more fun. The site just felt much more community-driven than it is now, with things like the forums or the cool events Roblox would do every now and again, like the egg hunts. Of course, these types of things still happen, and the tools that Roblox has provided for people like developers are better than they were nine years ago, and games are more advanced than they ever have been, but it felt like the site had a lot more soul through its community. It's kind of difficult for me to explain how it felt (at least for me) to play Roblox back then. You just kind of had to be there before Roblox became the CEO of bad decisions.
I joined In late 2015. It upsets me how much I can remember logging In everyday to a good platform, Now I log In every here and there, and Its terrible. From avatars, to games. Like I am all for the future stuff, as much as I would miss the past, there Is always a change In everything however, but the future Ideas roblox has, are nothing but a waste of time.l
totally agree with you I have been playing since I was a wee lad in 2009 and I believe the sites changed dramatically throughout the years but I still enjoyed the growth in the community and the advancements in game making, but now a days it seems the community is more and more divided and spread out I remember the days when Roblox itself was involved with its community doing events for games within the community not just sponsorships or clothing branding the company itself has split itself from its fan base. But I hope one day that Roblox can somehow find a way to do what the players want and not the board of corporate officials demanding of them. But that's just me lol

2016 was probs one of my favourite years because things were smooth, life was good, i was happy, people were happy, nothing seemed wrong. RUclips was at an amazing point and the content was original and fun and not repetitive. I was 9, roblox was fun, minecraft was fun, i listened to music ALL the time and it didn't seem like there was much wrong with the world. Roblox was great, I played it a lot, almost every day, made lots of friends, roleplayed all the time. It was an amazing year and I'm glad to have played roblox more in that year after my brother stole the minecraft account. at least i had roblox. it filled the void in the times where i was bored and i just sat at the computer playing it for hours upon end, every day. The games have become less fun and everything went downhill i think after that, but 2016 was an awesome time.
the world never really went downhill tbh, it's still the same but more and more people started getting more comfortable on the internet and it started gaining toxicity

I remember playing in my elementary school's computer(those slow ones with a big thick monitor ) and I was playing Roblox in August 23rd 2009 in a very hot sweaty summer. My teacher picked me and my friend (and some other people) to play, I remember playing mostly games that my friend Mario made, they were crappy and weird obbies of club penguin, sonic, donkey Kong, etc. Those were the golden times, and I also remember devs being quite close to us players and more interaction. I do miss those times but you know how life is, things change as you get older and you really have to accept that.
Honestly I joined Roblox in 2017 and I've got to say, time really does go by fast. I remember there was a ton of games I had never seen or even heard of before and everything was fun and a new experience for me. Now it's 2022 and I honestly feel like quitting Roblox. It just feels so empty now and the only reason I play it now is because that's the only way me and my best friend can play online together. And another reason why I feel like quitting is because I feel like I've played all of the popular, good games on Roblox. And let's be honest here, nobody really makes good games on Roblox anymore like they used to in 2017. I wish I could relive 2017 because that was a great year for Roblox.

Same, i had to change what i played several times since playing a genre over and over made you get bored quickly as there are not awesome new games as before, when i started playing roblox i played grindy games in wich you upgrade your stats and tycoons, then simulators, then parkours, and now tower defense games (wich i am enjoying so far)
Joined the community in 2015. The thing that hurts so much is that back then, things were simpler, and the games were very unique. Now, most of those games either shut down or fell down the stairs due to a lack of updates. Which really sucks because they had so much potential to be great.

From toxic cops, to toxic criminals, and people who take the game to seriously. (I originally played Roblox on Xbox and because I arrested someone he sent me death threats). When I switched to PC I played as a cop because I always played as a criminal and I used one of the fast vehicles (Forgot what it was called) and I was getting to places quick. I was told to be a camper and an AI.
2012 hit it off for me. The people I met, how iconic roblox was... I loved everything at the time because I was just a wee little 2nd grader with a simple mind. Having found out about such a large platform was mind blowing. I'd come home almost every day from school just wondering what to play on roblox. The good times.
Hell yeah dude I joined in 2012 too. Maybe it was just because I was young, but I really felt welcomed into the community. I met friendly people in most every server. I played from 2012-2017, but have always been open to the idea of playing a game if I couldn’t find anything else to do, so I’ve stayed pretty up to date with what the game has been going through majorly. A lot of games on the front page right now are simulators. It blows, but looking back, a lot of ours were tycoons or mediocre obbies. But still, I remember the front page shuffling every day and there were always fresh games I hadn’t seen before. I remember the build to survive games, the game where a wave comes and you have to get to a high point to survive, and the one where zombies are climbing a mountain to attack Telamon, to name a few. I think I was on the computer too much as a kid, lmao, cuz watching nostalgic stuff about roblox in 2012 always hits me like a brick to the chest

I miss the old days when everyone would always glitch their way into getting a pterodactyl skin. The community was so much nicer back then, its such a shame how much it’s changed. I joined the community in 2017, they were the best years of my life. You met new people, sure there were toxics but, the good ones were the best. It helped me through so much though. And if you're a Roblox hater I hope that you realize how great the platform actually is.

This hits hard as a 2016er. I remember playing as a guest in early 2016, which when the game was fun. I made my account after taking a little bit of a break in 2018, due to some other games. I was really interested to see how the game changed, and I honestly wish I had made an account in 2016 instead. I really wish that guests weren't terminated, styles were still funny, and people were still nice.. Sometimes we can't relive the past, which can be a shame..
Interesting story. I do as well wish the past could come back and everyone would be nice and play properly. The best times in roblox were 2016-2018 in my opinion. 2019 was decent and 2020 is where things got a little 😬🤯 and it kept increasing through 2021 and 2022.
In 2016, I always played as a guest in Roblox but when Roblox deleted the guests, my dad had to make an account for me so I guess I joined in 2017. 2016 was the good times! I started playing "Royale high" And I was really attached to it. I remember when the community was less toxic. Just hearing 2016 or 2017 is so nostalgic. I wish we could just go back. If I were able to time travel, I would visit the good old days. I really miss them!
Roblox didn't hit the same after 2015, and it stopped being good after 2019. The reason I say 2015 is because when you logged on it actually felt like a surreal experience, felt like a good platform .. not only the UI, but the games and experience in general. Thankfully, the game and website was still amazing up until 2019, then it just fell off. As a user that joined in 2009, I really do miss it sometimes.
I joined roblox when in 2016, and everyday and every weekend, I would play roblox when I got home. I had so much fun back in 2016 - 2018. The good ol' times. Roblox I think is still a good game but it' so horrible to see how bad the decisions and mistakes they've made. I wish that roblox will bring back the old roblox because back then roblox was full of great memories :)

2019 not a long time ago but it was a LOT better than it is now like we used to have egg hunts and even good classic games but now most if the games now just dont have the kind of "feeling" or "vibe".
I joined Roblox around 2016 and I loved the community. It was so simple, it was fun. And very maintaining: but now.. it’s really dry. It’s not community driven at all anymore. It’s just whatever Roblox wants to do at this point. It just feels like your everyday company. Not caring about the community thoughtfully and just doing whatever seems right

2011 was when I started playing roblox, and 2011-2016 were the golden age of Roblox, simply because everything was so much more simpler. It was a lot smaller of a community, but that’s why care and attention were more commonly found. Overall, Roblox now is a lot larger in virtually every aspect, but still haven’t been able to bring back the charm of “renaissance” Roblox.
I agree entirely, I love the complexity of some of the high quality games that don’t even look like roblox anymore, but besides those few by professional developers, the whole point of roblox was kind of so that anyone could create anything. I think that really cemented the community more. Plus, the style did rock. The blocky, cartoony atmosphere fit perfectly
I grew up playing Roblox in 2010 as a kid, the graphics of every game you ever played, you never realized the difference until you grew older. I'm an adult now, and retired however, I had my last revisit on Roblox in 2022 to see a huge change, and i'm proud of what Roblox has become for the new generation of kids with big imaginations I once had as a kid too. It brings me a huge amount of nostalgia and memories i'll never forget. And furthermore I hope the new generation can lead on Roblox and make more memories as the years pass :)

(However I may be wrong). Either way I believe at my age there's a time where that fun is over. Roblox is much better now, horror game and shooting game has higher graphics so it is more suitable for teenagers and adults. But games like "Adopt me", "Work at a pizza place".... those games change so much that it doesnt feel the same anymore and the community is so much worse
The fact that some people actually joined in 2004 and still active today, makes me feel they have suffered a lot seeing the changes of their favourite games, being updated to something else or just dead.

i'll never forget the 2017 egg hunt, til this day i still believe it was the BEST. it's legit one of my childhood core memories. i don't play roblox often, but it'll always have a place in my heart, not only for the fun i had while playing it but also because it was one of the few tools i had for teaching myself english back then since during 2017-2019 there didn't seem to be that many hispanic ppl on the site. i really miss the times when adopt and raise a cute kid, robloxian life, robloxian highschool (the good ripoff from roblox hs) and prison life were still popular, and if i had the chance to go back in time to savor some of that happiness again i wouldn't doubt it

2016 player here, I personally consider that Roblox's golden years was between 2012 - 2018, then it all went down hill from there. I quit during 2020, tried playing it again this year but it just doesn't feel as fun as it used to be. But watching Roblox videos about its older stuff during its early development in 2004 to how it was in the early 2010's and so on is super fascinating to me.

Man.... late 2014-2015 user here. You can't imagine how it feels, the platform has changed so much. The simplicity is what made it so charming and fun. It just isn't the same anymore. I've since moved on.
2016 was the golden times for me, i remember clearly (Although some memories are less treasured than others) I remember grinding my days out on booga booga, playing meepcity in its prime roblox highschool so many "Memories and treasures." That will never be revisited.
I joined 2014 and I remember enjoying Welcome to the town of robloxia, work at a pizza place, and Deathrun. In 2016/2017 I enjoyed playing restaurant/cafe games and got a lot of high ranks. Also legendary football, even better. Even looking back 2020 wasn’t terrible but I think the best time of roblox for me was 2014-2017 and I could argue 2018 as well. I started roblox when I was 8 almost 9 and now I’ll be 17 in a few days. Time has gone by fast. If your younger, enjoy it while you can.😢

Remembering that I first played as a guest in early 2016. Ah, times flies fast, I joined in around January 2016 and this really does hit me hard. I remember making my first ever account, but sadly it was hacked so I made a new one. So many memories were made for me in roblox. I still remember grinding in Pokemon Brick Bronze, which I have never finished completing the game and is now unfortunately banned. Oh, I wish we could go back to the simpler times. Thank you roblox 2016-2023 for raising me and making memories together. You were a big part of my childhood.

I remember playing in my elementary school's computer(those slow ones with a big thick monitor ) and I was playing Roblox in August 23rd 2009 in a very hot sweaty summer. My teacher picked me and my friend (and some other people) to play, I remember playing mostly games that my friend Mario made, they were crappy and weird obbies of club penguin, sonic, donkey Kong, etc. Those were the golden times, and I also remember devs being quite close to us players and more interaction. I do miss those times but you know how life is, things change as you get older and you really have to accept that.

Honestly I joined Roblox in 2017 and I've got to say, time really does go by fast. I remember there was a ton of games I had never seen or even heard of before and everything was fun and a new experience for me. Now it's 2022 and I honestly feel like quitting Roblox. It just feels so empty now and the only reason I play it now is because that's the only way me and my best friend can play online together. And another reason why I feel like quitting is because I feel like I've played all of the popular, good games on Roblox. And let's be honest here, nobody really makes good games on Roblox anymore like they used to in 2017. I wish I could relive 2017 because that was a great year for Roblox.

Joined the community in 2015. The thing that hurts so much is that back then, things were simpler, and the games were very unique. Now, most of those games either shut down or fell down the stairs due to a lack of updates. Which really sucks because they had so much potential to be great.

From toxic cops, to toxic criminals, and people who take the game to seriously. (I originally played Roblox on Xbox and because I arrested someone he sent me death threats). When I switched to PC I played as a cop because I always played as a criminal and I used one of the fast vehicles (Forgot what it was called) and I was getting to places quick. I was told to be a camper and an AI.

Hell yeah dude I joined in 2012 too. Maybe it was just because I was young, but I really felt welcomed into the community. I met friendly people in most every server. I played from 2012-2017, but have always been open to the idea of playing a game if I couldn’t find anything else to do, so I’ve stayed pretty up to date with what the game has been going through majorly. A lot of games on the front page right now are simulators. It blows, but looking back, a lot of ours were tycoons or mediocre obbies. But still, I remember the front page shuffling every day and there were always fresh games I hadn’t seen before. I remember the build to survive games, the game where a wave comes and you have to get to a high point to survive, and the one where zombies are climbing a mountain to attack Telamon, to name a few. I think I was on the computer too much as a kid, lmao, cuz watching nostalgic stuff about roblox in 2012 always hits me like a brick to the chest

2016 to 2017 was an amazing time to play Roblox.
I joined the community in 2017, they were the best years of my life. You met new people, sure there were toxics but, the good ones were the best. It helped me through so much though. And if you're a Roblox hater I hope that you realize how great the platform actually is.

This hits hard as a 2016er. I remember playing as a guest in early 2016, which when the game was fun. I made my account after taking a little bit of a break in 2018, due to some other games. I was really interested to see how the game changed, and I honestly wish I had made an account in 2016 instead. I really wish that guests weren't terminated, styles were still funny, and people were still nice.. Sometimes we can't relive the past, which can be a shame..

In 2016, I always played as a guest in Roblox but when Roblox deleted the guests, my dad had to make an account for me so I guess I joined in 2017. 2016 was the good times! I started playing "Royale high" And I was really attached to it. I remember when the community was less toxic. Just hearing 2016 or 2017 is so nostalgic. I wish we could just go back. If I were able to time travel, I would visit the good old days. I really miss them!

Roblox didn't hit the same after 2015, and it stopped being good after 2019.
The reason I say 2015 is because when you logged on it actually felt like a surreal experience, felt like a good platform .. not only the UI, but the games and experience in general. Thankfully, the game and website was still amazing up until 2019, then it just fell off.
As a user that joined in 2009, I really do miss it sometimes.

I joined roblox when in 2016, and everyday and every weekend, I would play roblox when I got home. I had so much fun back in 2016 - 2018. The good ol' times. Roblox I think is still a good game but it' so horrible to see how bad the decisions and mistakes they've made. 2016 was the most amazing year for the internet.
I heard about it in 2018, I didn’t actually start playing until 2020.
2011 was when I started playing roblox, and 2011-2016 were the golden age of Roblox, simply because everything was so much more simpler. It was a lot smaller of a community, but that’s why care and attention were more commonly found. Overall, Roblox now is a lot larger in virtually every aspect, but still haven’t been able to bring back the charm of “renaissance” Roblox.

I agree entirely, I love the complexity of some of the high quality games that don’t even look like roblox anymore, but besides those few by professional developers, the whole point of roblox was kind of so that anyone could create anything. I think that really cemented the community more. Plus, the style did rock. The blocky, cartoony atmosphere fit perfectly

I grew up playing Roblox in 2010 as a kid, the graphics of every game you ever played, you never realized the difference until you grew older. I'm an adult now, and retired however, I had my last revisit on Roblox in 2022 to see a huge change, and i'm proud of what Roblox has become for the new generation of kids with big imaginations I once had as a kid too. It brings me a huge amount of nostalgia and memories i'll never forget. And furthermore I hope the new generation can lead on Roblox and make more memories as the years pass :)

2016 player here, I personally consider that Roblox's golden years was between 2012 - 2018, then it all went down hill from there.
I quit during 2020, tried playing it again this year but it just doesn't feel as fun as it used to be. But watching Roblox videos about its older stuff during its early development in 2004 to how it was in the early 2010's and so on is super fascinating to me.

I joined 2014 and I remember enjoying Welcome to the town of robloxia, work at a pizza place, and Deathrun. In 2016/2017 I enjoyed playing restaurant/cafe games and got a lot of high ranks. Also legendary football, even better. Even looking back 2020 wasn’t terrible but I think the best time of roblox for me was 2014-2017 and I could argue 2018 as well. I started roblox when I was 8 almost 9 and now I’ll be 17 in a few days. Time has gone by fast. If your younger, enjoy it while you can.😢

Nah, 2019+ were not the good years, I've been on Roblox since 2014, the golden years of the game were 2015-2016, and maybe 2017, 2018 was okay but 2019+ has been a downhill ever since

Remembering that I first played as a guest in early 2016. Ah, times flies fast, I joined in around January 2016 and this really does hit me hard. I remember making my first ever account, but sadly it was hacked so I made a new one. So many memories were made for me in roblox. I still remember grinding in Pokemon Brick Bronze, which I have never finished completing the game and is now unfortunately banned. Oh, I wish we could go back to the simpler times. Thank you roblox 2016-2023 for raising me and making memories together. You were a big part of my childhood.

I joined in 2016, though I went through around 4 accounts in those 6 years. Memories, when ROBLOX was very fun. I still enjoy it to this day but not as much as 2016.
