It's a 5-string violin. The 5-string can emulate the lower warm tones of a viola with the additional low C string but can still hit the sharp clean tones of the A string of a normal 4-string violin. I wanna trade my 4-string for a 5-string but I heard this requires better finger techniques due to smaller spaces in between strings.
there is actually 6, the highest string is barely there but its there. btw I have that kind of violin.
