  • GSX is now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator, which brings pushback, animations, and new features. But is it worth buying?

I use them all the time, the Time it takes to load the airplane it’s usually around the time it takes to set up the airplane for the flight brief the flight etc. this isn’t really for people who wanna take off and go, this for people wanna simulate the entire process.

Nah i fly the PMDG 737-8 for a virtual airline, but i really don't need more than 5 minutes to get the plane ready..

I agree. I logged almost 4000 hours (around 850 flights) by now and for every single one I tried to do it the most realistic way possible (refueling, deboarding and boarding). GSX is an addon for simulation, not for a game.

It's simple. GSX is for immersion. Period. If you don't care about that, you are not their target audience. I love it. It brings life into the lifeless world of MSFS, and I want to have more products like it. I love going to the airport irl. So much going on. Hats off to the people making airports and apps that push immersion. MSFS 1.0... oh how far we have come!

About the "where the heck is the GSX menu, you push, you push you push it again", that's the problem. The menu does have a delayed response for many reasons, almost all related to the way the SDK works, the isolation between the Html/JS script system and Simconnect, the fact that JS code of the menu gets immediately killed the moment you close the menu, makes for a fairly complex system that has some lag and, if you "push, push it, push it again", you are killing/restarting the menu code each click, without giving a chance to the underlying program to pick up your choice in time, because while it was waiting for a Simconnect command, the code that sent it didn't exists anymore, new code restarted. Just be a bit less hasty, and allow the menu to come up. The first opening when you are at a gate will be also slower, because when you do that, GSX is: searching which vehicles to create, creating traffic cones, creating the underground refueling holes AND is contacting Simbrief (if you have Simbrief enabled, of course ) over the internet to check if there's perhaps a flight plane starting from there which can be used. And THEN the menu opens.

Thanks for the explanation. As I said in the video, I have no doubt the product will improve with future updates and patches.

I am a flight sim pilot for 10 years, with 3000 hours logged on IVAO, and if you truly want to simulate the real life, you need to perform that ground handling every time :-) And I do.

If you read the manual and actually spend time configuring the program. It is actually worth the $29.99. But that's the problem, you have to configure it and it actually takes a lot of time to configure it. People now a days want everything to work out of the box. Understandable. After the launch day fiasco, I got a very good working copy and have configured everything. It adds the immersion experience for those of us who want to immerse ourselves. For the casual simmer, it's not.

Biggest gripe here is the missing Jetway customization and replacement feature. Apparently they do have loads of jetway models ready but none of them can be implemented by customers due to msfs SDK limitation missing out of something similar to SODE which is already available for the P3D release.
Then the universal installer screwing quite a number of customers including me with "Couatl engine hasn't started". The fix is a manual installer download from FSDT forum. Without the fix being pushed into their cloudfare universal installer as of now.

What would be cool if you could see GSX also working on other aircraft when you arrive and depart. That would address what you said about how often would you actually use all the features. It would be far cooler if you could also see passengers and service vehicles associated with aircraft other than just your own. Then airports would really come to life.

Once FS2CREW gets the PMDG birds out on the market, I would use GSX as I do for P3D....to have something going on.
Urmbuto is probably working on hot fixes for the initial release.

Helpful review! I think ultimately I don’t need the passenger eye candy and can save that money for a good airport scenery or something. Plus, for pushback, I’ll use whatever tools various planes give me (or wait for Pushback Toolbar to come back)

i heavily disagree with the no one uses it argument. People always use all the ground services. U request them and then start programming your flight and usually it ends up finishing as u do

That's like knocking the aircraft in GTA for not having very realistic flight characteristics.
I think it's safe to assume most of those who bought GSX, did so to enjoy those features you think are gimmicks. That's the point of the addon.

Dude! I get where you're coming from but if you're a hardcore FSE GSX adds a level of realism we are trying to attain. If you're purely the person who just wants to jump in a fly around to see what you can see then no, GSX is a waste of money. I think there are far more people using MSFS2020 seeking a level of realism they may not have expected at first so, I'm a fan of all these apps that bring us that much closer to Real World flying. (BTW, I am also RWP)

I love GSX in P3D but not sure about using it in MSFS. FS2Crew is way ahead of them and their Pushback Express has been out for way longer and works very well. These guys are just late for dinner lol

Takes a lot of frame rate. Memory leaks. Cant change the pushback truck type. The truck appearing right infront of the nosegear of your aircraft when u spawn at the gate. Majority fixable if the developer updates it. Last check it was not touched since march 17th.

has to be the worst pushback ever, the aerosoft one is tons better, takes 2 seconds to get an accurate pushback, dont know why GSX decided to make a weird interface and annoying hidden keybinds for this?? insane for a payware to be this bad
