Hi y’all those are not spider senses, those are woman’s intuition or black girl suspicious vibes. You are so blessed to have your husband with you doing this. I’m married but about to do it alone. I hope next time Dave will be with you when you speak to these weird people because all it takes is a second to be taken.
When he said "strippers", the first thought in my mind was "rape". They had ill intent for you and your husband. Saying "strippers" was lowering your value as a black woman.
My dad, who is a retired police officer has one piece of advice he gives to ALL men. It’s something he has noticed over his decades long career and been proven time and time again. “If you are with a woman and she gets a gut instinct of fear or unease- believe her and act immediately even if you don’t feel the same way.” My dad is convinced women have gut feeling super powers that far succeed a man’s intuition and gut instinct. Even as a child my father listen to my gut instincts and if they were wrong in the end he would tell me “just because you were wrong this time it doesn’t mean you will be next time- ALWAYS tell us and follow your gut.” I actually got a lot of childhood self esteem from these interactions.
She's black. That's the instinct she's working with. Y'all can put it on being a woman all y'all want. We Foundational Black Americans know what it REALLY is!!! RUclips LEAVE ME AND MY POSTS ALONE!!! NOTHING I HAVE SAID HAS VIOLATED ANY OF YOUR RULES AND GUIDELINES!!! I AM ALSO FILMING MYSELF TYPING THIS COMMENT!!! *SO LEAVE ME ALONE!!!*
She is a Foundational Black American. That is the instinct she's working with. Y'all can give the credit to her being a woman all y'all want. We FBAS know what it REALLY is! Even when social media platforms bombard us with these images, then, interferes with our discussions on them. 😒😠 RUclips LEAVE ME AND MY POSTS ALONE!!! NOTHING I HAVE SAID HAS VIOLATED ANY OF YOUR RULES AND GUIDELINES!!! I AM ALSO FILMING MYSELF TYPING THIS COMMENT!!! *LEAVE ME ALONE!!!*
Exactly ! There’s just no such thing as “overreacting” , especially these days. Lol , of course screaming bloody-murder when an elderly woman says good morning , now THAT’S overreacting.
Trust me, as a former Police Officer, they were waiting for you to go to sleep. And they definitely weren't going to just take your bikes! PLEASE, always use your spidey senses and stay safe!! Love you two. ❤
That happened to us. We were in a tent in the mountains. No protection being in a tent and too far away to get help. Three men pulled up in a truck in our camping spot. We came out to greet them, and they quickly went from friendly to aggressive. We cant get to our car. You begin to realize this is going badly. My father stayed friendly and stayed calm as he reached around inside the door of the tent where in a side pocket he kept a 357 in case of bears. He pulled out his gun. They immediately spun around jumped in their truck and drove off. Who would have thought we would have needed it to protect our family from scary people. We threw everything in the car within minutes and left. We never camped in the woods in a tent ever again. I believe if my father hadn't had that gun we would have been in serious trouble being so far away from anyone.
I was in southern Oregon at a county campground with my two children. It wasn’t the middle of nowhere. But it was probably 30 minutes to the nearest town. The first two nights two families are camping next to us. Safety in numbers. They all left the next day and we were by ourselves that night. I wasn’t too concerned and we were enjoying the solitude. Then about 10:30 at night, a run down Jeep Cherokee shows up. I found that really strange. They don’t engage us. But they’re doing something at the campsite next to us. I can’t see because of the trees. They left after about an hour. But the entire time they were there, I was hyper aware. They left after about an hour. Same Jeep returned the next day to fish. Weird. I didn’t have a firearm then. I haven’t camped without one since.
Same and the times I have not listened, questioned or brushed it aside are the times I have regretted it and will the rest of my life. Listen to your gut your intuition it will steer you right. ❤
My gut always tell me to stray away from certain so called priveledged people especially people that have hatred in their hearts every since Thump set feet in the oval office they became more and more creepers throughout the US particularly at gas stations rest stop truck stops and even hotels The person that most people are concerned about is actually the wrong person to be worried about My biggest worry is the lazy meth heads that were once called privileged kids, but their folks kicked them out because of drugs now they prey on all of us in fact they people on meth) Those meth heads are worse than any crack user I've ever met
there's a brilliant book by Gavin DeBecker, "the gift of fear" that teaches u how to read people & situations, & evaluate/interpret signals from ur body..
Offend anyone who just shows up! That's the problem today people are afraid to offend trash. Be rude and be ready. Sad but we live in a world that has people that want to do harm.
Never answer a stranger's questions you do not know. Never get out of your van in a low lit parking lot by yourself to talk to anyone like you did while your husband is asleep in the back of the van.
Thank you for your input. I wondered why they were asking wad it to determine if there were guns inside they could steal or if these people were military that they would know how to use said guns. Thanks!
I am a VET and can tell you that the overwhelming majority of vets are NOT armed, and NOT trained to defend themselves. Most of us served in support roles (logistics, admin, air traffic control, mechanic, etc). Many of us also live in states that have overly restrictive gun laws. I live in PA and have a concealed carry license, but if I cross into NY, DE, MD or NJ, then I am committing a felony by being armed.
@@callilove8378 That's ridiculous. The vast majority of veterans aren't trained for combat. They're trained as mechanics, logistics, communication, administration, medical, and the list goes on.
When It Cones To Strangers- Random ISN’T Always Safe... Your Instincts ARE Your Best Means OF True Discernment. Always-LISTEN... To ‘Your Angels Within’. 😇 🙏🏻
For those of you that are so concerned about people harming you id suggest that you call one of these airlines and perhaps move back home to Europe it may be a tad bit safer the only problem that you might encounter is they don't think much of Americans due to the racist behavior that they display daily I mean the sneaky coded behavior,, such as the behavior that you teach your dogs . You can fly directly between the USA and Europe Absolutely! There are many airlines that operate daily direct flights between the USA and Europe including American Airlines, Delta, British Airways, United, Lufthansa, Virgin Atlantic Give them a call they can help you to return to your mother land that might be your absolute best option so you can feel safer
I'd say if never ever talking to someone who approaches you by your RV was necessary, at least half of RVers would not want to be RVers! Most people are decent but you do need to be very careful because the bad ones are out there looking for victims.
@carltonipoloknowski4736 what? This is babble. Not relevant to safety awareness. Telling people to leave because they don't feel safe in a specific senario and take a plane? Not relevant advise.
As a single woman that has been doing this for years, always park near others. buy a boat air horn so you can make a lot of noise to alert those around you if you dont feel safe. Do NOT open your door to others, keep doors locked. Leave if you dont feel safe. You are lucky, you dont have to get out of your vehicle to get to the driver seat.
I chose a motorhome over getting a camper mostly because I wouldn't have to get out of the rv to hit the driver's seat and leave. I'm an older lady by myself and I've tried to plan for safety. I also have a dog and I firmly support the 2nd Amendment. I don't bother anyone and refuse to be easy prey. I've been a trucker for 25yrs so I tend to be cautious.
Things are only going to get worse in the times to come! Lawlessness, homeless, drug addicts looking to steal for their next fix, and don't get me started on the invasion coming over our borders! The govt. Doesn't know who they have left in here. The airhorn is excellent must have equipment. But, every RV needs cameras and motion detectors on top and most every angle of the outside of RV. It's a small $ investment for security and peace of mind! Make sure you have a couple pew pews and am-mo and know cold how to use them! Never ever be someone's easy mark!
That was freaky. I learned from my military experience to Always trust your gut feeling. Be honest, thats how God speaks to me or warns me. Its kept me alive in order to turn 65 this year. Trust your gut
A few years ago a friend experienced a group of drunks rocking his compact trailer in an effort to tip it over. Completely defenseless he pretended to talk as if someone else was in the trailer. Making sure he could be heard he asked his imaginary friend to get an imaginary gun. That's all it took and the drunks quickly left. He said he learned a valuable lesson. From that moment on the gun wasn't imaginary.
Being separated from my vehicle while inside a trailer is the number one reason why I will never have a vehicle that I can't just slip into the driver's seat and leave.
I’m a security officer, this is exactly why it’s unwise to be predictable. We shouldn’t take breaks at the same time everyday or have routines. While patrolling we’re not supposed to use the same route/go the same direction each time, also don’t patrol at predictable intervals. For example: every 30 minutes etc. Be unpredictable.
Agreed, that's what I've tried to teach new officers on the crew, ( Hospital site) and often I'd get the side eye from younger SO. I'd explain I've been doing this line of work for over 30 years, either I know something or I'm pure Evil in steel toe Boots. It's a 51 /49 % slide rule truth be told. We have also had SO be aiding those up to no good, this happened on this site, and I had proof to show to command this was the case. " Be Safe"
I was always taught that and as a kid going to high school it was only one route I could take unless I wanted to go thru dark alleys , man I hated those days .
I thought it way too convenient the security guard goes on "break," and that just so happened to be the time the other cars rolled up. No such thing as coincidence.
I’m a truck driver and I always felt uneasy at places like that… people talk a lot of junk about truck drivers and truck stops but I’ve never felt unsafe at a truck stop… always truckers that are awake and aware
We have a motorhome and have never felt unsafe at a truck stop. We are so thankful for the truckers that share, I usually offer to feed the ones close to us if I see them. Also, we have never complained about truckers that use the RV parking at Kansas rest areas. We are happy to share some of our spots with them, because they have always been curious to us. We have been at it for 10 years.
I slept couple times at truck stops while traveling. Felt safe, never had a problem & slept really good. God bless our truckers. Where would we be without you ? 🤷 Thank you for all you do ! ❤️👍
My son is a trucker. Companies do not allow drivers to carry firearms in the cab. I think this is a mistake but understand because of the insurance liability. My son is in process of buying his own big rig and owner operators can carry. I respect truckers and always give them room when they want to pass or pull into traffic. In all my years of driving i have only had two bad experiences with truckers. One was driving erratically , i followed and called the police and they pulled him over. He was high on drugs (something rare i believe for truckers). The second i had dropped off my grandson on a Sunday and was driving home. I was working for highway patrol then but was in my private vehicle and not in uniform. A trucker pulled up beside me and when he was almost past me he swerved over in my lane almost forcing me off the highway. I thought ok maybe is tired and misjudged the distance or maybe because it is raining and overcast he didn't see me properly. Then he backed up along side me and rolled down his passenger window and told me to pull over he was going to kick my (butt). I told him he better go on as i guaranteed he would lose this argument. He then tried to run me off the road a second time. I thought ok now you are going to jail so i followed him for about 50 miles planning to arrest him at the next scale station. I didn't know the scale was closed that day. I saw a trooper who had someone pulled over so i pulled over identified myself to him and told him what had happened. He said my partners are headed this way i will call them. He called and gave the,m the description of the truck. They said they would stop him at the next rest stop a few miles ahead. They pulled him over and he got out swearing at the troopers. The trooper told him to calm down as he would put him in jail so he calmed right down. Trooper asked if he had had trouble with anyone that day and he said no everything was fine. About that time i pulled into the rest stop. The trucker started jumping up and down and screaming, "That's him, he is the one who has been (blanking) with me all day. The trooper smiled and told him "Guess what he is one of us". He put him in handcuffs. I got into the other patrol car with the second trooper . He was filling out the arrest report and said he didn't want to sign it as he didn't want to have to go to court to testify. I told him since i had to go anyway i would sign it. I got out and walked past the other car with the suspect handcuffed in the back seat. I smiled at him and walked away. I took info from his truck and when i got home i called his company in Indiana. I told them we had arrested their driver but where they could pick up their truck since we were not impounding it. He thanked me and told me he could tell me the name of the driver. This told me this wasn't the first time he had been in trouble. I was not called to testify as he plead guilty. He lost his license for three years but virtually his career as a driver was over as i don't know any company that would hire a driver with that conviction on their record.
I have a suggestion, I'm a retired female over the road 18 wheeler. I have had plenty of bad experiences. It is a very dangerous job for a woman, some might disagree but i learned real fast you can't trust ANYONE. A friend advised me to carry a spray can of wasp spray, next to me seat, i felt alot safer. It sprays oh about 13 feet. I ALWAYS was on guard with about 3-4hours of sleep the first couple of years but i learned where i could park my rig and have a good rest. I do camp and take trips alone but i stay ready, with items that would help if ever needed. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR ADVENTURES AND ENJOY AMERICA, I DID!!😊
I too have wasp spray in my apt. Near the front door and in my bedroom (it has an exterior door) It is not a great neighborhood. It can further than 13 ft.
Wasp spray may work, but it is illegal in many states because it can blind someone. Funny, how the criminals have more rights when doing wrong! Anyway, you have to do what is needed when you travel alone or are caught in a situation that isn't good.
My Dad always said when he was rving to take your time. Do not be driving for more than four or five hours and leave first thing in the morning (to him that was at the crack of dawn; hahaha). He says that you have to plan your trip to be slow and safe. Know where you're going and however long it takes to get there, that's how long it takes. Stop at safe places on the way to the "special destination". He would never have stopped at an abandoned parking lot next to an abandoned amusement park with "abandoned" being the key warning word. I am glad nothing came of this scary story for the two of you. I would just say to everyone that, remember, our old moms and dads are pretty much right in hindsight. Take your time. You don't need to do the "rush to get there" thing. Be safe. My Dad no longer rvs. He is 92 yrs. "young" and had a very Happy Father's Day.
Those guys have been to that casino before, knew the security breaktimes, waited for the break (both cars showed up) and I do not think they were coming for just those bikes. They wanted to know if you were vets, had weapons to find out if they would be successful coming INSIDE. Tanya please be careful giving strangers' personal information too fast. You are super friendly. Dave is right... if something is wrong, leave ASAP. Glad you are both safe!! 💕
I'm a solo woman and have had two scary encounters. Both times I left immediately with no regrets. Even if the person drove away after the suspicious behavior, I had no way to know if he would come back later. Better to leave immediately than in the middle of the night. I will never regret leaving, but I can imagine lots of regret (and anxiety and sleeplessness) if I stay after a suspicious encounter. Glad you guys are safe. The beauty of free camping is we aren't out anything if we have to leave. Always trust your gut!
This is the 2nd scary story I've read in the past week about creepy scary incidents with men who are "off" and RVers. Never ever question a bad feeling. No really bad feeling like that would be only about bikes. They may have been planning abduction or something else weird. You can get a second lock for your doors and cameras outside but that wouldn't stop someone from shooting out your tires from under you. Never second guess a gut feeling.
I'm learning the necessary tactic to ask, "Why do you ask?", when someone asks me a strange question, rather than giving them any information at all!! I'm usually always polite and therefore have a tendency to just answer questions, thinking that a normal, friendly conversation will follow... 8 out of 10 times, it's awkward or angering.
My mom taught me to say that when I was a teen. I have had some strange answers which is when I tell them it's plainly none of your business and find a way to get away or attract attention. Although I was taught to not be rude, and to be a people pleaser if my spidey sense flared all bets were off.
The security guard is not a police officer. If that ever happens again call the police. I am sorry that you were scared and threatened. Be careful!🙏🏾💗✨
You never know if the perceived presence of firearms might inspire them to take you out so they get your money as well as a collection of firearms. Just don’t talk to them.
It’s the gift of fear, always follow your gut. And you are never obligated to be nice, and polite to people, it’s ok to be rude. You definitely did the right thing.
@@jworth7203this is true ! I don’t take solo trips but want to start walking again more after bad encounters with dogs and dog owners that don’t leash their dogs . It’s very annoying that i can’t walk at the park ! So I decided to carry air horn- bear spray and a hiking stick as well as mace . I hold these where they’re visible and in pockets ( also visible ) maybe sometime there could be a video on staying safe where dogs are loose . In my state folks don’t like to leash their dogs - it’s very annoying. But what I do is turn around and start walking the other way slowly or stand and face the other direction . The dog owners seem to want me to acknowledge them and their dogs even though I am trying to just let them pass - any advice ? Because they still call out how are you or hello and loudly almost aggressively - as if they feel I am being rude by handling my dog attack PTSD this way.
My E250 cargo van, self built camper, is my daily driver whether im traveling or at home base. I was meeting my very tall adult son for lunch in the city in a very old neighborhood for the best catfish. I arrived 1st. Parked near a tree for shade at the back of the lot. Immediately I was crowded by 2 vehicles on each side of me, i thought how inconsiderate, i couldnt open my doors. So i moved forward to get unpinned. One moved behind me as if to leave but stood there. The other repositioned himself, again too close on my other side. My son showed up & the one behind me moved. My son then parked behind me. Now I had cars on 3 sides, but one was my son & now I was able to open my door. I told my son & he was looking around & asked where are they, he wanted to get eyes on them too. The one in front saw him talking to me & left the lot as i was telling him what was going on. Oh by the way, this is a very old restaurant with wide parking spots, no need to crowd someone from being able to get out of their vehicle. After hearing your story I bet their weird behavior was up to no good thinking I had goodies in my cargo van, which was not the first time that has happened to me. Couple years ago someone tried to claim i had his work tools in my van as he was trying to get in. That one i drove away on. I seriously don't like crowded cities any more.
@@hed2410 oh man. You are so right. Didn't expect this at all at a restaurant in broad daylight. But hey they probably thought my cargo van had tools in it, especially in that neighborhood with a lot of industry around.
I carry a sharp knife to even places like target. It’s in my purse/car. I pull it out and stick it in my pocket. It’s a short serrated blade, wood handle and sheath. I made up my mind I wasn’t going out with nothing. A lipstick 💄 nah. I’m aware of all the pros and cons. I don’t go out at night and I’m constantly aware.
@@Lalunabreezein our country I would go to jail with a knife on me or carrying guns with out a license … where as the perpetrator Will be released with a warning..
And then there are oldsters like me who grew up in a safer friendlier time. I actually would be friendly and say Hello and be interested in a bike or new big tires on a RV or ? Just because I know nothing and I am curious. Sigh. So sorry about the scary things that have happened to you! God bless!
@@TheMinimaggi In Texas we can carry guns open or concealed without a permit. However, I would never carry my weapon open for a number of reasons. I always carry when driving with my family--I believe in the saying it's better to have and don't need than to need and don't have. If guns were not so prevalent in our country I would probably just carry my OTF tactical knife, but there more guns in this country than there are people.
@@jacquethirlkel3001 I agree with you and I love talking to people, but I would not approach someone's RV at night unless we are in an environment with other RVers who are out and about.
Whoa, mama, don’t get out of the van again, don’t confront these people, face-to-face. The best thing is to just get going. You can always come back later or find someplace else and don’t let them follow you.
@scubaval08 Great idea! I'm glad you have that. It's unfortunate we have to do these things, but the world is crazy. I have a camera on my front dash and back. Working to get ones outside too. Anything to be safe!
Or park in view of a live cam. That's what I do when I spend the night at the beach. I also park next to the fire station. I use a poeta potty at night rather than get out and get myself cornered in a bathroom.
We stopped the another night in our fifth wheel around 11:00 pm at a closed grocery store. My wife wanted to use the restroom and get a drink. While she was doing that I noticed a small white car circling us in the empty parking lot. I immediately got protection and I went to get my wife for her safety. I got her, secured the lock on the camper, and got my wife in the truck ASAP. The car returned again. I knew my 3500 diesel truck could plow over the small Chevrolet if needed to escape potential harm. However, after he realized that I'm onto to him and laser focused on his movements he decided to stop stalking us. Maybe he realized his element of surprise was gone.
I’m sorry to inform you about the Creep was looking for a hooker. That’s how they act you didn’t do anything because these guys have zero value. He was seeing if he could buy the woman when he saw your actions he saw it wasn’t gonna happen any. It isn’t anything you’ve done, he was hoping you were her pimp and that you had sent her somewhere on business. You can get mad at me for hearing the truth or you can watch all the act and know to keep your distance. Do what you did but don’t be surprised because no value men are everywhere.
I'm a 65 y.o. woman & my first instinct in any confrontational situation is to stand & fight, but with age comes wisdom & a wonderful clarity that I hope will keep me alive for a very long time. I think it's always better to remove yourself from sketch situations as soon as possible. Sometimes it's hard to know exactly when to pack it in & move on, but it's best to err on the side of caution. You guys stay safe out there!
I have been a truck driver for 30 years, these stories keep me going. I love em, I experience them, but I never tell the stories after. Something for god and me to hash out when I get back home.
My husband and I always have our pew pews when we go camping!! We both have our carry concealed permits! Plus we always have our 2 toy/mini poodles. So dang straight I’m gonna be protecting my husband and babies! I was in the military also until I got hurt and was discharged. I know some people are against carrying guns, if so, I tell them to carry bear spray or wasp spray! It can spray up to 25 feet away! Some people might say I’m overly cautious, but I just say I’m overly careful! It’s better to have it and never need it, than to need it and not have it!! I also always have some kind of knife with me too. Happy Camping and Safe Travels! 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
A previous employer had a strong safety program. Brought in a state police detective to talk about personal safety. He said our intuition aka spidey sense is there for a reason and to always heed it instead of ignoring it. Better to be safe and maybe a little inconvenienced than a victim. He cited numerous cases where people had a feeling and ignored it with the circumstances not turning out well. I’ve watched a lot of videos about safety on the road and one major take away is to have layers of protection like cameras, motion sensors, audible alarms, personal protection items placed in various places inside the rig etc. May feel like a lot but so worth it for a safe peace of mind. Happy and safe travels to you both.
I even have Christmas jingle bells on my door handles all year round so if someone tries to open my door I can hear it or one of my dogs. My adult kids think I'm paranoid, but I don't care.
I can back up your experience in casino parking lots. I had a very similar experience at a casino in Arizona after dark, other vehicles started creeping around the parking lot. Circling around rigs, etc. I spoke to some casino security staff and they did admit casinos are centers for crime at night. I was also approached by an aggressive man inside the casino while sitting in the cafe. He became aggressive and I had to call security to be escorted out. There is a chance that some security staff are in cahoots with gangs, too. People are drinking at casinos, they can be addicted to gambling and get upset when they lose, making them violent even. I will never camp in a casino parking lot again.
One of the last things you said just made my eyes pop out. People do get deranged when losing a few months worth of bills money and how that can sent them off to do something stupid to other people. I had a bad experience where I went to a casino with an ex boyfriend who won 8K first night and gave me $500. He said no matter what not to give it to him if he asked for it again. I didn’t understand why he would say that to me until the next day when he lost 20K. When he asked for the money back I told him no and he spazzed out and was not the person I had arrived with the day before. His face looked twisted, insane and I gave him the money out of my own safety. He left the room and I left without telling him. Never answered his calls or saw him again. If this guy who had a proper job and upbringing, so I was made to believe, could check out of sanity lane, it’s not hard to understand chaos in the casino parking lots.
With two vehicles and multiple people involved, that definitely does not sound like a bike casing scenario. Moreover, anyone who drives a newer SUV with tinted windows would be unlikely to steal bikes or vehicles for a living. Something else was going on there. Glad you are safe!
Tanya, always let hubby know when you are going to open the door to someone. Happy your both safe. Be extremely careful out there. Trust your first thoughts always. You stayed way too long because they planned on waiting for you to go to sleep.
It doesn't have to be in an RV. Something fell over the path of my garage door and though I pressed the opener to close it did not wait to see that it had completely closed. I was gone only about 30 minutes and when I returned realized that the door was open. I did a quick look around because I have a lot of expensive woodworking tools in the garage, but everything was still there. And then I realized in that short time someone had come in and stolen my lawnmower. I thought they were stupid to not take the expensive hand tools but learned a new mower of the same type now cost $329. No one saw anyone pushing a lawnmower down the sidewalk so evidently they saw the door open, cased the garage and came back with a car or truck and took off with the lawnmower. Like you, I am now a lot more cautious!!
Yeah, my family once had a whole riding lawn mower stolen from our carport in broad daylight while everyone was at work. A couple of homes in the neighborhood also got hit for their riding mowers including a local church. These bold van criminals know exactly what they want, stalk for the right moment, and then get in and out quick.
Our son is a professional gambler. It is NOT uncommon for vehicles to be broken into and computers, and anything they can grab to be ripped off. ALSO if they think you have money, a winnings etc they will follow and stake people out. It's happened to him MANY times and he has learned evasive techniques. Going with an escort, walking through the casino in random patterns to see if anyone tries to follow... waste time lingering so they get tired of it, not leave. Only leave with a crowd going in and out... Drive in public areas and avoid any quiet or dark roads. Go far enough you get lost in traffic. Call the cops if you have to.

Tanya, I thought about what you said about solo lady vanlifers. As a female, I would never solo w/o a dog and a gun. The dog would hear something before the human and you’ve got time to get your heat out and let them know you are not playing. But even if I were with someone, I think I still would want a gun. In today’s world, you just never know. There’s some crazy folks out there.
Hey. I remember getting carjacked in a CVS parking lot right beside the biggest hospital in a hundred mile radius. Point being, desperate people are subject to try anything. But I wanted to point something out to you. When you're "off grid", you're off the radar, meaning if nobody sees or hears from you for an extended amount of time, how long will it take before the authorities are even notified that something is wrong, you're missing, there's a stranger operating your vehicle, etc. You absolutely MUST be aware of this constantly, because every encounter can potentially end in disaster. NEVER FORGET for a split second, when someone, ANYONE approaches you and they are a stranger to you, they should be considered a threat until it's established that they're not. That means watch when answering questions, how you respond, what people are allowed to see and hear, and NEVER give approximate times of your comings and goings. I'm not telling you that you must be paranoid, but your safety and well being is paramount to all else!!!

I've been there.. tent camping, small state park in Washington.. alone, 2 shepherds with me .. Older guy and a motley teen boy who were not recreational camping. Site across from me. They did not seem like they were related which was odd. They just didn't seem like they were out there to enjoy each other's company. They seemed to be loitering, hanging at their picnic table and not actively doing anything campers do. No RV, tent, cooler, no food, no eating - just a car. Not looking at or talking to each other. They were "waiting" And they were focused on me... 40 yr old, single woman. But truly trying not to be obvious. I got the heebie jeebies... I was certain if I had stayed that something very bad would have happened to me. So I tried to play it cool... Like I was just making dinner.. hanging out... My tent partially blocked their catty corner view of my car and camp.. so I slyly and slowly started putting my stuff in the car..till there was only the 3-man tent left to take down. Dogs in car.. I quickly smashed the tent down... Heaved it into the car... Jumped in the car and skedaddled Like you.. I drove a long ways away before stopping again! 1000s upon 1000s of miles camping and that was the only time I felt like Whoopie Goldberg was saying: "molly.. you in danger girl!" I still think... Or know... those guys were serial killers... Not a shred of a doubt
@@nmartin5551 we sure do! I go nuts when I hear people say, "maybe I was just being paranoid." Unless you have a paranoia disorder that affects you in all situations... You are never being unnecessarily paranoid! 🧡
I know exactly where you were. Sadly, that area has become sketchy. You folks deserve safe travels, stay alert and safe. Bright blessings on your travels. ❤
I saw that video you did and I kept yelling at the screen leave leave... You never know in this day and age. Whether somebody is going to block you in pull a gun on you and hurt you. I'm so glad you guys got out of there and got to a safe area. I was only on the road for about a year and a 1/2. Full time remote. Single woman over seventy And driving a class c coachman. I did a lot of faith driving but one thing I always trusted was that inner voice. And my gut. There were a couple times that I parked somewhere even in a campground, one time, where something just didn't seem right and I left. Didn't miss anything. And nothing hurt from me leaving... But you never know if you stay in a spot what will happen? And it's not worth finding out sometimes. You guys be safe and keep your love going as you travel down the highways. You are in my prayers
The problem is how much you question yourselves. As a therapist over 30 years I have heard many many stories of folks being attacked raped etc. Every time the intuition was going off but they told themselves they were overreacting. Those were the ones who got attacked. It is best to run and be safe instead of staying so you don't overreact and being attacked because you ignored your intuition.
Correct me if I'm wrong, your in Nevada correct? Nevada is a 24 hour State and camping around Casinos isn't a safe place to stay. As a Nevada native let me advise you against staying around Casinos. They attract all kinds of people and being open 24/7 they are magnets for crazy people up to no good. You are safer in a nice RV park or campground. Glad you are safe! Always follow your instincts
Stayed in my van decades ago, before the current craze, and it was the same back then. Leaving is the right thing, as was putting some distance between you and the shady situation. Those looking to prey on you tend to be locals who won't drive half an hour or more. Once you get on the highway they give up in an exit or two as they have no idea if you are going to drive for hours or what.
My travel companion (aka EDC) is named Kimber!! Not the 1911s they are known for, but a lovely little 9mm. Match grade barrel, match grade flat plane trigger with a perfect break. Just a fantastic EDC. Always to hand is that Glock 19 and a Benelli M4. All loaded with Hornady Critical Defense or in the case of the Benelli, Black Aces Tactical 12 ga. My walls are plaster and lathe. I would really rather not damage them any more than necessary. Overpenetration is a bi**h!! Women can love firearms, too!!
@@flawedexistence Have a Kimber 1911 Compact. It came with two 7round mags--bought two 10-round mags. My wife doesn't want to get an RV, but if I traveled in an RV, I would also cary my Remington 870 Tactical 12 gauge shotgun.
My dad taught me as a little girl to always trust my gut, spidy senses! Never put yourself in a situation you cant get out of! Listening to you to tell this story was giving me anxiety, I had to know if you were safe at the end! Always trust your senses, I am so sorry you had to go through this. Comtinued safe travels!
this is a very important video. , My own sister who is elderly, had a brand new Hover round and a tricycle with a security cable on the back of her RV and had them both stolen while she slept,. the thieves dismantled both and were able to free them from the security cable and locks.
I teach personal security , “Refuse to be a Victim “. I’m always amazed how women (normally) don’t trust their gut!! In day it is important to really know your area safety range. Never answer the questions , and talk to people through the window. I tell people all the time to play the ‘what if’ game. ie…when walking out of walmart, ask yourself what if this or that happens, taking the time to think about possibles will help you in the long run if there happens to be a real event. So you have trained your brain how to react. Stay safe!
Yes I agree he was scoping you out. We never open our door even at home. I’m so so glad you’re safe. We have an RV but we always stay at RV facility I suppose for this reason. We do have protection and a German shepherd but no opening doors to see what they want. If they tried to get in and succeeded then bad things would go down. Very scary guys. Thx for reminding all of us we need to be safe. I love your wife’s spidy senses. I have them for sure and my husband has definitely developed them over time.
They wanted more than the bikes… never over reacting ever you can’t be to safe. Under reacting it’s what often happens. So glad you and the kitty’s are okay.
I had a guy I didn't know wait outside the ladies room at a rest area once and then ask me if I was travelling alone. So creepy and scary. Fortunately there were other vehicles near by that arrived around the same time that I pretended to be with. I always keep bear spray close to hand when I stop places now.
OMG 😳 I saw a great tip a while back from a solo female who lives in a van who said she always puts out two chairs so it doesn't look like she's alone. I do that on my deck now. Always trust your instincts. ❤ I highly recommend the book The Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker. ❤❤
As a suggestion especially near Vegas stay vigilant. Also before you two go to bed at night make sure the van is drive ready like you don’t have to get anything ready; remove the shade in the windshield and drive. Glad you two are safe.
I would make & eat dinner, prep everything for bed in one location & drive to the overnight spot where I wouldn’t get out of the vehicle at all. Just put up the rest of the blinds & crawl into bed. Easier when you know a route well; very time consuming when you don’t. If there’s ever 2 vehicles looking at you they’re definitely planning something. Especially nowadays when they know “van life” is a thing & there’s way more of a chance of getting good stuff.
Yeah they were casing you out! I’m so glad you’ll are safe❣️. I’ve seen people do this at the airport. Robbers, they can’t go out and get a real job, just steal from others. Stay safe & Blessed🙏🏾🥰💗
Tanya, When you said the guy said Dinner and stripers - It made me think he had planned on attacking you later, not knowing Dave was with you at the time. Also after reading some of the commits posted on this page, I tend to agree that casinos are not a safe place to park. I have never been to a casino and now if I ever do I know to be alert. Stay safe and thanks for sharing your story.
What did he mean by strippers though? Sorry I don’t get it?? I just think it’s strange to say that.. I would’ve left after this encounter, what a weirdo.
Hey guys, it happened to my brother-in-law. Similar situation he was in a parking lot and it was night time but he was in a parking lot that was open for business it wasn't a vacant lot. Two guys walked up to him, put a gun to his head took his wallet, add his keys, got in his car and drove away. All in under 2 minutes. Luckily he did not resist. But that's how fast things can happen. He was paranoid for quite a while after that because they had his wallet with his address and ID in it. So yeah you did the right thing no doubt.
My best friends have been going to Las Vegas for decades. Last trip, six months ago, the security guy at the door told them not to leave the casino because it was too dangerous to go outside. Never happened before. They just got back from another trip there and this time everyone was telling them to stay inside. They said the whole feeling about the place is bad, and they got in their car and went home
Very scary! They definitely seemed to be planning something; good call trusting those spidy senses and getting out of there. So glad you guys are safe. Thanks for sharing.
I’m so sorry you guys went through that! I don’t even want to imagine, my heart was racing hearing you guys retell it. Please be safe and trust your instincts! 🙏
Hmm. Security guard went on break. Maybe the security guard was in cahoots with those creepy cars? Just a thought. Tourist are easy targets unfortunately.

Even as a child my father listen to my gut instincts and if they were wrong in the end he would tell me “just because you were wrong this time it doesn’t mean you will be next time- ALWAYS tell us and follow your gut.”
I actually got a lot of childhood self esteem from these interactions.

That is WILD

I am a VET and can tell you that the overwhelming majority of vets are NOT armed, and NOT trained to defend themselves. Most of us served in support roles (logistics, admin, air traffic control, mechanic, etc). Many of us also live in states that have overly restrictive gun laws. For those of you that are so concerned about people harming you id suggest that you call one of these airlines and perhaps move back home to Europe it may be a tad bit safer the only problem that you might encounter is they don't think much of Americans due to the racist behavior that they display daily I mean the sneaky coded behavior,, such as the behavior that you teach your dogs

Give them a call they can help you to return to your mother land that might be your absolute best option so you can feel safer
I'd say if never ever talking to someone who approaches you by your RV was necessary, at least half of RVers would not want to be RVers! Most people are decent but you do need to be very careful because the bad ones are out there looking for victims.

I love the airhorn advice.

The govt. Doesn't know who they have left in here. The airhorn is excellent must have equipment. But, every RV needs cameras and motion detectors on top and most every angle of the outside of RV.
Been there doing security patrols some 12 years. I got creative with my patrols. Threw a lot of people off, kept myself and fellow officers safe.
Agreed, that's what I've tried to teach new officers on the crew, ( Hospital site) and often I'd get the side eye from younger SO. I'd
explain I've been doing this line of work for over 30 years, either I know something or I'm pure Evil in steel toe Boots.
Security guards are notoriously known for inside jobs... like maintenance men in apts...trust no one...and be rude to strangers.

Thank you for all you do ! ❤️👍
Thank you for all you do! My Father and Husband were both truckers! I would feel very safe at a truck stop!
Truck stops are definitely much safer than random campsites.

In the middle of nowhere, you're 911.
I have a dog and Bear Spray (30 feet)
@@AlyciaJaneWhere did you purchase the spray from?
You can get a second lock for your doors and cameras outside but that wouldn't stop someone from shooting out your tires from under you. Never second guess a gut feeling.
Me too. I saw another youtube video today of a van lifer being approached thru her screen door. Scary 😢
Yup, it’s getting crazier out there. Hopefully they can rest solely in the company of fellow rvers. It’s just not safe out there anymore.
When you feel weird- LEAVE. Never second guess yourself. You guys took WAY too long to GTFO! Glad you all were safe!
I work at a casino. Parking lot are the worst place to hang out. Lots of tweakers hang out, looking for an easy mark to steal something from.
Probably why no write ups...because nobody has stayed.

Totally makes sense their parking lots would be the Petri dish of scum.

Great reply! I will remember this one. Thanks

@KatWilliams-xp7ccI was thinking the same thing

The security officer is there to protect the casino, not you. Even the cops have no legal duty to protect you. You just hope they will.

That not worrying about being rude can very much come in handy. People get in trouble by being too nice.
Always leave yourself an exit. Even if you have to jump a curb.
@@hed2410 oh man. You are so right. Didn't expect this at all at a restaurant in broad daylight. But hey they probably thought my cargo van had tools in it, especially in that neighborhood with a lot of industry around.

Glad that you two are safe; this is not our grandparent's world anymore!
You were so wise to leave. I'm wondering about the security guard. I know thats not nice but it crossed my mind. Please be very careful.
With two vehicles and multiple people involved, that definitely does not sound like a bike casing scenario. Moreover, anyone who drives a newer SUV with tinted windows would be unlikely to steal bikes or vehicles for a living. Something else was going on there. Glad you are safe!

And then I
realized in that short time someone had come in and stolen my lawnmower.

They just didn't seem like they were out there to enjoy each other's company. They seemed to be loitering, hanging at their picnic table and not actively doing anything campers do.
Honey why did you go outside to talk to them. Please do not trust anyone in parking lots. That casino parking lot doesn’t look safe to me.
Very scary! They definitely seemed to be planning something; good call trusting those spidy senses and getting out of there. So glad you guys are safe. Thanks for sharing.
So happy that you followed your gut feeling!
Perhaps we all Can learn from this regardless of whether we live in a Van, RV, Tiny House or House. 💐🙏🏼
Yep...
😇
Yes, I think you’re totally right about the veteran question meaning do you have firearms. Way to trust your gut. Thanks for sharing this scary story.
Van life doesn't seem very safe at all.
Thanks for this shot of reality, and I'm glad you two are OK.
You probably aren't the first people they have done this to.
That’s what I said too
Totally agree.
And theyd been to the casino. So maybe it's a deal they have going.
My thoughts also
I have traveled as a single woman for many, many years. God bless them. I have parked to sleep in my car and woke up hidden amongst big trucks. Its comforting. There are angels in plain clothes
Thanks for sharing
I’m so glad you listened to your gut and left that sketchy parking lot. Thanks for the tips! Stay safe! 🙏🏼🩵✌🏼
