I’m starting flight school soon (finding the right one first) and last year also had a horrible experience with a (French) family I was working for, and it was the trigger for me to leave that line of work because Of everything you said. Anyway, I see blue skies ahead for both of us now and this was just what I needed to see this morning. Congrats on UAA!! That’s awesome.
Hi Graham! I'm a student now at UAA and I absolutely love it. This is one of the best decisions that I think I've ever made, and wouldn't give it up for the world. I know there is a long down time between class dates and such, but I can tell you know that it is worth it if you decide to follow through.

Good luck fellow Georgian, does the United academy lock you in legally in any fashion? I think the regionals all suck, United's even more probably, but your young so that will help you deal with the regional lifestyle. Their price seems less than ATP, but still significant.
did you have a 1st class med before applying? I have a 3rd right now and they did say you need a 1st for the program but I'm not sure if that means you need a 1st BEFORE submitting your initial application or have by the time you start or accept the offer. Thanks and good luck!

Would you need a associates to get accepted by them im just questioning if I really need to go to college or I could apply with my high school diploma? Also did you say 5 years to become a pilot or was I reading that wrong? Thanks
Great questions! You do not necessarily need an Associate's, but I have mine. If I were you, I would apply directly out of high school and just see what happens. If you go to a local community college, your associate's won't be much (mine was about $2,000 in Georgia), but I wouldn't do that unless I had to. It will be about 5 years from the time you start flight training until you're in the right seat of a major carrier. The breakdown is something like this: Year 1: Flight school Year 2-3ish: Time building (most people choose to be a CFI) Year 4-5ish: Fly regionals (sometimes longer) Year 5-6ish: Mainline carrier, First Officer
For me, I found the process pretty simple, but from what I understand, it's not easy to get into the program. There's about a 1-2% acceptance rate. As for the credit, I have a cosigner, but it's not necessary. You can take out a student loan without a cosigner, but the interest rate will be higher. Thanks for watching!

You don’t need a first class medical before applying but you’ll need to be fully accepted
