    For AA’a A321XLR and soon to be renovated 773s and 789’s, the premium economy seats will possibly be either the Safran Z535i or Z600 based on the images from the article.

    You didn't really address this, but a big drawback with Delta's premium economy seats, at least on the A330 neo, is the lack of space under the seat in front of you. Unlike economy seats, there's no space to put anything under the seat. And for someone like me with longer legs, the lack of space makes for an uncomfortable long haul flight.

    Nice. Never been on the a330-neo. Looks like a reasonable product. The complimentary drinks is good value, but they got to return the buy on board for those cross continental flights. Lets see how the other two stack up.

    Nice review, I didn't realize they were flying these seats domestically. Is it just the A330neo or are they on other planes?

      Also the A350 and some refurbished 767’s. They were flying them domestically a lot while international travel was depressed. Not so much any more this summer but they pop up occasionally and will again next fall and winter I would say.

    What are your thoughts on Silver Medallion?

    • @GilbertTravels
      @GilbertTravels  2 года назад +2

      Kind of a continuation on your other comment. With Delta, from what I can tell, the minimum status really worth having is Platinum (which is equivalent to Platinum Pro on AA), which allows true complementary upgrades to Comfort+ at booking. The lower classes have and "upgrade" system to Comfort+ so you can't choose which seat you one, just whether you will accept a window, center, or aisle should it be extended to you.
      The plus to Delta is that they allow upgrades on awards bookings to all levels and award bookings count as activity for status re-qualification. For better or worse Delta considers their exit rows as "preferred" seating, not extra legroom, so Silver members can secure at least an exit row at booking, which AA Gold does not since they consider exit rows to be extra legroom. No complementary adult beverages in Delta Exit rows though, whereas they are if you get your upgrade with American.
      Silver barely comes with any benefits that cannot be obtained by holding a Delta credit card (free bag, Main 1 boarding). At least with AA Gold (their entry level) you can pick any available main cabin extra seat at the 24 hour check in time. That is about when the top level elites get upgraded to First so I had tremendous luck getting good seats at check in when I was AA Gold (just make sure to be ready to check in right on time). AA also offers a true priority boarding group to Gold, and while it is technically also shared with credit card holders, at least it doesn't use the main boarding lane so you can avoid the crowds that line up way before their group is called.
      I have Delta Silver status from a match years back that kept getting extended from the pandemic. I don't really have any plans to specifically extend that status further. Not because Delta is a bad airline I just don't see committing enough travel to them to get Platinum status and I feel the One World system has better international and partner perks than Skyteam. I may consider getting a Delta Reserve credit card once my status runs out, to get access to many of the same perks as Silver when I do need to fly the airline (including the extremely low chance of complementary First Class upgrades just for holding the card, and Sky Club access if you don't already hold another card that offers that).

      @@GilbertTravels Thank you so much for the detailed response! It helped me quite a bit. I really appreciate it! I've never had airline status before but will be flying quite a bit in the upcoming future. I wasn't sure if status was worth it and, if so, it was a toss up between Delta and American for airline loyalty. American's changes to their program make their elite status much more obtainable than Delta. I think I can hit AA Gold, and possibly AA Platinum, but was curious about how often/if upgrades were actually given (compared to hotel loyalty like Marriott where upgrades are a joke). It sounds like AA is pretty good/consistent with elite member benefits. Thanks again for the reply and videos!

      @@jimmyjames6492 Yea well the great thing with AA is you can get most of the way to status now without ever buying a ticket. Check out bookAAhotels, AA simply miles, Aadvantage eshopping portal, aadvantage dining, etc. Lots of ways to rack up those loyalty points before you even fly and between flights to get to the next level.
      Delta is probably a better airline in terms of their standard domestic experience (with the built in IFE screens and more snack options, etc) and friendlier crews on average, but AA has a better flyer program, status, and their miles still have a lot of great aspirational options (Qsuites for 70,000 miles, Japan Airlines F for 80,000 miles etc) and bargain domestic web special redemptions. Plus the reciprocal benefits with Alaska and Jetblue in the US really make it like holding status on multiple airlines with one qualification.
      Glad you found the information helpful, definitely takes a lot of thinking on this stuff to get going in the right direction. Another strategy for getting started with American is that Delta has a well published public status match, so you can always pivot your earned AA status over to DL if you decide they have the better schedule for your flying down the road.

      @@GilbertTravels BIG THANK YOU!!! I made AA Gold this year and did your recommendation to check in at exactly 24 hours. Now, I don't fly out of a major AA hub but still wasn't expecting anything since I'm at the bottom of the elite status ladder. Got upgraded from Premium Economy to First for both my son and I. THANKS SO MUCH for the tips/advice on how to maximize airline status + all your videos, Billy! 🤝🤝🤝

    Delta's food offerings are still goppingly awful considering other airlines offer hot meals and have been for a long time.

    • @GilbertTravels
      @GilbertTravels  2 года назад

      As I understand it they are bringing back limited fresh food in economy on longer routes this summer. I am hoping to see what that looks like next month. If they roll that out more broadly that will still leave them ahead of American sadly!

      No, delta comfort is just regular economy with more legroom. On this plane in a 2-4-2 config. Premium Select is a wider seat in a 2-3-2 config.
