Holy fuck,...my mind was blown...this is magnificent...beautiful and playful. I've never seen so many notes on a page, I can't believe this is even possible to play, this is so wonderful...cheers to the performer! He tackled this masterpiece with grace and power, and made it a pure delight.
Sigmund Thalberg rivaled Liszt as the top virtuoso of the day in the 19th century..swordsman ..later in life vintner...lacked Liszt's creativity and innovations...but he did have his moments. ..
Thomas Shiraza over the course of time Thalbergs work does not compare to Liszt.. Too many works.. Much more maturity in sound... More innovative... Maybe if had not walked away from the piano he could be in the argument.. Liszt was very prolific ..show me Thalbergs catalog verses Liszt...
I love Sigismund Thalberg compositions, especially the Moses fantasy. He was a rival of Franz Liszt who was wrong in down grading Thalberg's compositions. Later in life Liszt corrected his his opinion.
I don't think Liszt criticized Thalberg's music, it was his girlfriend Marie d'Agoult who did that. Liszt actually praised Thalberg and said he "played the violin on the piano."
@@pineapple7024 About 1840 Liszt told us this fantasia is bad - I agree. Listen to Bach/Chopin/Rachmaninoff/Debussy/ Grieg/Puccini ..... Thalberg is't good.
@@kimsahl8555 If Liszt thought the fantasia was so bad, why are there striking similarities between this and his Reminiscences de Norma’s ending, despite being written two years earlier? Would you steal something you hate? Of course not; you borrow what you respect, regardless of how begrudgingly you do so
This is why people called him "old arpeggio". The spectacular great 3-hands effect truly astonished Thalberg's audiences. Bravo.

So Beautiful.
Is it here where we find that famous "3 hands effect" of Thalberg playing? At 4:20 .
Who is the performer??? I have every time goose-skin when I hear it :-)
+emeseharfa Francesco Nicolosi
+modelstatue Thank you :-)
The theme used is Dal tuo stellato soglio
Why is nobody talking about the three hands effect at 2:13
I get it 4:03 is awesome but 2:13 have three hands effect as well
Because it’s not a significant part
@@Chorizo727 good point
Yeah I heard it right away. Such genius composing.
Wow - How many years should you study to play this?
I would say at least 6-8 years.
At least 10 I think.
Miraculous piece, I think.
Amazing|!
Esto es Magia!
an utter masterpiece and so melodic. It seems liszt copied a lot from him. Thalberg was the man
Excellent !
Thalberg wasn’t the one who only mastered this technique. So too did Liszt himself.
@Macadipenunes Francesco Nicolosi

schade, dass der rhythmus fehlt, wäre ein tolles klavierstück.
es müsste heißen: molto adagissimo senza tempo.
prost mahlzeit!
@avalokiteshivara Francesco Nicolosi
@ch252525 Very similar to Liszt, really. But Thalberg inhabits his own world.
This is ... I don't know.

It looks like one of the pieces that no one should be able to play because it's so ridiculous...
Thalberg, a great pianist and a bad composer.
It’s pretty good, I don’t understand how he’s a bad composer
