Hi Rachel, I am new to coach and just couldn’t pass up the large bag I found at Salvation Army thrift store in my town. I had just said last week that I was looking for a large, RED, leather, “mom” bag for under $20 so when I found this one for $19 I really didn’t care if it was a fake lol. But curiosity got the better of me, and I’ve been researching a ton. Thank you so much for your video - it’s by far the best one I’ve seen! So many people contradict one another that it makes it hard, especially since I don’t know when my bag was made. Pre ‘94 or post - 🤷🏻♀️ It’s a large Julia but I see some inconsistencies- no YKK anywhere on the zipper, but “coach” stamped on the studs. Some of my bag details seem to line up; others don’t. I can’t seem to find the style number 14967 in red anywhere on google. Any idea if Julia was made in red? Or if I bought a good knock off?
This is such a fantastic video. I watched it about four or five days ago, and I have already identified several, as in 5 to 7 bags that were counterfeit. Most of them were the top of the “A” in “Coach”, was the dead giveaway second, I would say the zipper markings were a biggie, next identifier was not all the hardware was marked Coach with the exception of the rings, and there was one ring that was not connected holding a metal coach tag to the zipper. Anyway, lots of great info really helped me out. Thank you

@@RachelStrickland Hello, you make me run to the attic and clean one of my bags from the 80’ which was my favorite then, but it lost color in the edges so I put it away. Thank you so much for this video. I am a reseller so I encounter Coach in the thrift stores. I never had to worry about it before because I always purchased retail but no longer…………😊.
Thanks for all this great information! I learned a lot. I recently bought a beautiful black leather Madison/Phoebe. The small zipper pull on the inside pocket doesn't have the YKK metal pull. It's leather, but on the metal part, it has a 3 above a C. (I had to use a magnifying glass to see it!) The only large zipper pull is a leather loop. The hang tags are attached with a ball chain, but has no place to open and remove. the tags. They are placed together between 2 larger balls. They can't be separated. I don't have any doubts of it's authenticity (I could be wrong, but I love it anyway!) but I have never seen Coach tags like that. It does not have a tag in the inside pocket as my pervious Madison did. Is that a concern? There is a small clear plastic tag next to that pocket that says "Made in China." Thanks again!!
I go to estate sales, and I scored authentic bags. Two small all leather ones for $10.00 each ( one needed to have the handle stitched back slightly so I did it ) and a gorgeous larger all leather for $8.00! I think you might have left out that the Cs MUST be lined up, and not crooked. That in the center of a signature bag, the Cs must be equally placed. Good video. Thank you. I look for the YKK usually as well. I also look for D&B bags at estate sales as well.
Awesome pick ups! I did leave that tip out because many of the newer coach bags don't adhere to that rule anymore. Why are they always changing this on us? 🤷♀️🤦♀️
@@RachelStrickland I’m saddened that they and D&B no longer use brass hardware and now the bags are made in China and Vietnam, etc. Many years ago I bought Coach gloves made in France!

Yes, I researched it after this video and its yet another thing coach decided to change. Hahaha. Its authentic. They will always keep us guessing won't they?
Hi Rachel, I just watched your video because I found some “too good to be true “ designer handbags at Goodwill. One of them is a Coach. Everything looks good on it, but what about the bottom of the bag? Should the pattern line up perfectly?
Hey. Seems like the indicators of fake Coach bags are endless. A few months ago, I picked up a “Coach Flight Bag in Mahogany Leather with Brass Hardware, Style No. 0597” at Goodwill for $20. It appear to be absolutely new, though according to the coded numbers in the Creed, made in September of 1998, which seems dubious, but it’s developed a fold of the bottom like it’s been stored flat in a box for 24 years. So far, it’s passed every authentication test I’ve give it. Thanks for giving me a few more.
@@RachelStrickland It is a bit dusty. I might let the buyer clean and reshape. Oftentimes buyers, collectors in particular, are real picky about how its done. If I were to keep the bag, and I'm tempted, I would of course do it myself. I will check out your video, none-the-less. Thanks! Will help me in advising potential buyers.
Most of the vintage ones I show here are 90s, maybe 1 late 80s. I believe you should still look for many of the same things, though. 70s and 80s I would think should still have the creed inside.
I yhink I have one of tose vintage bags, but it's missing the shoulder strap, mine is green. Ive used a different coach strap biy would love to find a green strap to match
Wow. So much great knowledge here. Thanks for sharing! We'll definitely come back to this video if we ever come across Coach items. We haven't been super lucky with designer items yet, so we'll keep an eye out, and try to keep these in mind! 🔥🔥
Thanks guys! You can always send me a pic when you find some too! I'm not an authenticator but it never hurts to have another opinion about the item. Thanks for watching!
I would never sell any my vintage Coach bag, I start collecting them 30 years ago and they all are Made In USA. Today the quality Is not as good as the vintage one any more.
I went to Studio Augusta when I went to Paris in the summer. I bought Monceau at COPYMAXS to match. My only regret is not purchasing more. I really hope to get a mini Marley one day.

Thank u once again, keep healthy and more success for you ❤😘 Greetings you from Indonesia 🇮🇩
all of my coach bags are vintage...bought from coach stores or major department store....all quality leather,,,none of the ..cloth or patternnned bags...and i do not use....unfortunately
Hi, can you please help me authenticate my wristlet? I think it is a fake. The inside tag is white and says Made in China with the word Chine under that. All capital letters. Thank you!
I have 9 Coaches variety of bags, backpacks but will not be buying more since the emblem or logo has changed to just “C”. Bad idea, bad business decision. Good luck
So why do counterfeiters use a flat A, or use a C that looks like an O or a G, or any of the other things you pointed out? It seems to me that it wouldn't cost them any more, or take any more effort to not have those red flags that people know to look for.
Great question Gloria . My videos have come a long way and I now record with a camera but at this time, I was using my phone which created a mirror image of everything. You'll see even the word "coach" is backwards. That's why the horse is facing the wrong way. I've honestly never seen even a fake where it was facing the wrong way though.
@@RachelStrickland ...Also, with all the bags being made in China, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Phillippines the variances may be more common in the future.
I have soaked one coa h lined bag that was in deplorable condition and I couldn't mess it up. It had striped satin lining and it did not shrink. I saved the bag and got it clean. Just my experience. Use caution.
Thanks for this great info! I have a question about a Coach bag I bought at Goodwill. It feels like good leather, has the pointed As in Coach, etc. it also has the creed with perfect spelling. But the serial number has me thinking sketchy. It starts out like a number, but quickly fades so that you can’t read it. Can I send you pix to get your two cents?
Rachel, I message you a few pix of the bag to instagram! Take a look, let me know if you need any more of the off-white bag in question. I’m also going to send a couple of pic of a fab find for 6.99! I’ve washed it and think I’m going to have to keep it!

Hi Donna, Thanks for your helpful hints. Do you also find that the lining of a coach bag is not attached? This makes it easy to lift out and clean! I’m trying to authenticate a bag on purchased on eBay?
I was REALLY excited to discover this video BUT THEN REALLY disappointed once viewing. I wanted some useful, detailed information about VINTAGE COACH BAGS---WHAT to look for: info/details on the CREED, materials for BUCKLES, ZIPPERS, SEAMS, TAGS, etc. This video was a little "all over the place", with A LOT of unhelpful comments AND MOSTLY non-vintage/more modern fabric COACH bags. I appreciate the intention, BUT this video is far from hitting the mark of what info the viewer had been told would be shared. Quite frankly---I'm confused.
Vintage Unlined Coach bags made of tumble dyed leather, are made to be wash to clean. I am spent time in the original factory in NYC in the early 70’s when I started buying their bags. I regularly sent my bags in for repair and restoration. They also had a lifetime registration of bag owners. One time I had a fountain ink pen leak and it soaked into the leather. In horror I called the factory, and told them what happened. Do you know what they told me to do? GIVE IT A BATH and RINSE THE HADES OUT OF IT! I used ivory dish soap at the time. Then treat it with Lexol and polish it out once dry. That was 45 years ago. I’m still carrying that bag and it still looks new. So what was your problem with this? If you need to touch up corner wear use leather dyes not polishes to repair.

Those bags are insanely good quality and it's not odd to me it looks new. I have a video on how to clean and reshape them.
Do u have a video on how to tell if a vintage coach from 70s and 80s are real. I really want to buy some bags but I don't know if they are real
@@RachelStrickland we’ll keep you in mind. Thanks!!
I love the red purse you did 💕
Thank you!
I would never sell any my vintage Coach bag, I start collecting them 30 years ago and they all are Made In USA. Today the quality Is not as good as the vintage one any more.
It's hard to part with any of the leather vintage ones! I usually keep them. Hahaha
I went to Studio Augusta when I went to Paris in the summer. I bought Monceau at COPYMAXS to match. My only regret is not purchasing more. I really hope to get a mini Marley one day.
Great video. What is the creed number on your favorite vintage coach bag ~ the brown one? I would love to look for one.
K7b-9927 😁
Wow I would have never known
I have what I think is an authentic vintage looking coach bag that would like to find more info on and see what it’s worth. Help???
Sure! Dm me on my Instagram with some pics of it. I'm ResellerRachelStrickland there
@@RachelStrickland Thank you 🥰
I have tossed really dirty coach in the washer and they came out like new, leather trim included.
Oh that would be a cool experiment
I figured it was unusable any way so what the heck.. came out lovely! Now I have done it several times for resale!@@RachelStrickland
Hello Rachel I just saw your video came up on my page and soo thankful you made this vlog, it is so helpful to getting more know about COACH which one is Authentic or Fake, and glad to find out all my collection COACH Bags are AUTHENTIC ❤🥰. Thank u once again, keep healthy and more success for you ❤😘 Greetings you from Indonesia 🇮🇩
Thank you so much for watching! I'm so glad I could help!
very informative. thanks
You're welcome
all of my coach bags are vintage...bought from coach stores or major department store....all quality leather,,,none of the ..cloth or patternnned bags...and i do not use....unfortunately
Thank You for this information. I turned away from some bags that said made in China.
I'm so glad you found it useful! Thanks for watching. 😁
@@RachelStrickland also I saw a few red Willis coach on Poshmark if you're still looking. RED vintage coach is my favorite.
🤩 yes! Ebay too!
Hi, can you please help me authenticate my wristlet? I think it is a fake. The inside tag is white and says Made in China with the word Chine under that. All capital letters. Thank you!
Can you send me some photos on IG? RachelstricklandOfficial is my IG
@@RachelStrickland I got advice from another reseller I follow. Thank you so much for responding! I appreciate it.
I try not to understand an industry that funds sex slavery, child trafficking, child labor and worse. Who knows?
So I have a few nice bags that have creed patches like coach but they are broadway.are they related?
Unrelated but maybe those are great bags too
Great Video!
Thank you!
Great Video! 👜👛
I thought of you while filming this!
This was a fantastic video! Thank you so much.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching!
Do you buy/sell Dooney & Bourke?
3:24 ..... One RUclips video previously had said the horse has to face left not right as is shown in your video, who is correct?
Great question Gloria . My videos have come a long way and I now record with a camera but at this time, I was using my phone which created a mirror image of everything. You'll see even the word "coach" is backwards. That's why the horse is facing the wrong way. I've honestly never seen even a fake where it was facing the wrong way though.
@@RachelStrickland ...Also, with all the bags being made in China, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Phillippines the variances may be more common in the future.
Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching
Do you know if you can soak a lined bag or will the lining shrink?
I have soaked one coa h lined bag that was in deplorable condition and I couldn't mess it up. It had striped satin lining and it did not shrink. I saved the bag and got it clean. Just my experience. Use caution.
Thank you!!!
What about on a wallet, if it has one ring that is solid around but a second ring that isn’t solid.
Coach is so inconsistent that doesn't surprise me. Is the ring that isn't solid connected to the zipper head?
Yes that’s the one
Thanks for this great info! I have a question about a Coach bag I bought at Goodwill. It feels like good leather, has the pointed As in Coach, etc. it also has the creed with perfect spelling. But the serial number has me thinking sketchy. It starts out like a number, but quickly fades so that you can’t read it. Can I send you pix to get your two cents?
And I’m not sure how to post pix up here!!
Send me some pics on my ig girl! I'm "ResellerRachelStrickland" over there
Rachel, I message you a few pix of the bag to instagram! Take a look, let me know if you need any more of the off-white bag in question. I’m also going to send a couple of pic of a fab find for 6.99! I’ve washed it and think I’m going to have to keep it!
Do you buy and sell for a living? Im considering it how much will I make a year
Yes, this is my full time job. How much you make is definitely dependent on how much work you are willing to put in. But a full time income is absolutely possible.
I can't believe a Coach bag that has a "made in China" label! I wouldn't buy one with that tag.
There are a lot of designer brands who manufacture in China now. I wish we could know it was ethically produced products at fair wages.
@@RachelStrickland I like ethically produced products at a far wage for Americans when it's supposed to be made in USA. I have been buying Coach for many years good thing I never saw a made in China tag. Poor Chinese people can't afford these bags. That's the cause to fight to fight for! Not more Coach bags feeding and making their lives better.
Hi, do you sell the vintage Coach station 5130 bag?
I do not have one for sale. Id recommend Ebay or poshmark.
Oh gosh! I'm even more confused!
Remember it says made in China with a little dot
Hi Donna,
Thanks for your helpful hints. Do you also find that the lining of a coach bag is not attached? This makes it easy to lift out and clean! I’m trying to authenticate a bag on purchased on eBay?
I guess I've never noticed that. Interesting. Most of my collection is the vintage unlined leather
-Rachel
Lo
I wish people would quit giving their purses a bath.
Why
