Amen to this. Let the dude do his thing. I kind of disliked how he took Mikeys place in VH ; but hey, the ban IS CALLED VAN HALEN. Keep up the good work Wolfie.
Can't wait to see the RUclips video showcasing YOUR "original" content...@@irreversablecontentment4651 🙄🙄🙄 Remember, it takes no talent, and no imagination to be an internet troll on fucking RUclips... It's a lot more difficult and respectable to do your own thing, in your own way. Wolf is doing exactly that. Everyone's music goes through periods of evolution, and exploration. Everything out there today, musically, has been influenced by something or a collection of somethings that came before it. Rock itself, began as a fusion of Country, and the Blues. As time has gone on, each generation of guitarists and songwriters has placed their own stamp on the genre. Evolution, as opposed to Revolution. I guess you were expecting another incarnation of Wolf's father? That was never going to happen. As for songwriting "hooks", I don't think you have a clue, as to how Van Halen songs were "written" back in the day. Ed would tape various loops and licks. Dave would come and listen to Ed's tapes, and start penciling lyrics. Sam did it the same way, when he was singing leads for VH. Ed didn't write song lyrics. That wasn't his genius. Ed's genius was in playing a combination of rhythm and lead guitar, that painted pictures in your head... inspiring the imaginations of anyone hearing it. Wolf has his Dad's musical brilliance, AND can write song lyrics on top of that. I may add, that Eddie couldn't read music. That also means he couldn't write it, either. Ed understood time signatures, but still never bothered to learn how to read and write sheet music. I may also add, that Ed didn't really NEED to read or write music, to be successful at being a "name" arena rock act. However, when preparing to tour, he DID have to listen to older tapes of the band's live performance on previous tours, to remember how he'd done a given solo, or chord or key change, from a song that Van Halen hadn't practiced in a long time. That's the advantage of being able to read sheet music... If it's graphed out right, you can see those key or chord changes, and immediately understand it, without having to "listen" for it. Ed's genius wasn't merely in his fingers and hands... it was in his 'ear'. Wolf has it too... with the singular advantage of being able to write it out on paper, so his supporting players can immediately grasp what's going on.
There is so much negativity on the internet, no matter what the subject or fandom. I've gotten to the point where I just reckon it's better to ignore it completely
Eddie and Ms Bertinelli gave us this talent. He is the MAN by defacto to carry on the Van Halen legacy. I'm a Van Halen superfan. I have everything including the Wolfgang Special. But, Van Halen is over. Done. Wolfgang is an amazing musician. Period. Amazing! He is in no way obligated to play his dad's songs 🤟 His videos are the best music videos in the past 20 years
You're right now but that doesn't give him the right to be a little bitch and snap at people when they ask him in annoying question about his father's he's kind of a punk
I think Wolfgang is brilliant. I was able to catch a show here in Nashville at the Ryman and he and his band just sounded amazing. He honors his father by simply loving music which is brutally apparent in his songwriting and musicianship. He's a class act.
I recently bought tickets to his next show here. I saw him last year, and he rocked our socks off. When I bought his first album, I didn’t stop playing it for months. Every song on it rocks. His voice is beautiful, and he Grohled his first album (wrote everything, played every instrument, sang, mixed, and produced the album. He’s funny, and humble, too. I’m a fan for life.
Wolfgang is awesome. I am extremely confident that time will justify him and his talent. Also the fact that he is such a good, sweet dude makes Eddie’s greatest accomplishment not being a colossal guitarist but being a really good, loving father.
He makes great music, sounds nothing like either version of Van Halen and stands on his own two feet. An extremely talented, multi instrument playing, young lad. We should all just be happy that he is adding to the guitar oriented/rock music’s resurgence.
It sounds like an Aldi version of VH(cheap and nasty) just like so many bands from the 80's who ripped off VH. If he can't find his own sound, he needs to give up. Nothing he has done can be classed as even good. The only people who even know he exists are old VH fans. If his music was any good he would be more well known.
I would argue his music is very derivative. He has the family genes and oceans of talent. No doubt. But, he has yet to hit on "his sound". Mammoth sounds VERY much like any number of bands from the late 90s through the early 00s. You could easily confuse Mammoth's songs with any number of sonically familiar, yet un-nameable bands from 25 years ago. He's gotten more comfortable slinging guitar, and you hear it. He's not shying away from being a "Van Halen" on the strings quite as much, and that's cool. I just really hope he finds a sound, a tone, something that is immediately recognized as being him. He has too much talent for his music to blend into a sea of bland.
@@e.l.norton I know the bands you are alluding to, and personally have no problem with him being bracketed into a genre, and paying tribute to his musical heroes outside of the Van Halen fold. He already has a definitive sound that makes his songs instantly recognisable, but he is still rather young in the music industry. It will be interesting to follow his career and see how it matures.
"Does He Deserve So Much Hate?" No. "No" is the answer to that rhetorical question. Love Wolfie..and I love you, Justin! Whether you realize it or not, your ability to battle your demons from the past has been very uplifting and inspirational to me. Your example has helped me tremendously and given me the ability to simply get on with it. Thank you, Justin! I hope you have a great weekend.
Wolfgang likes to talk about "dont use tracks" and makes other comments so its fair for ppl to criticize that. Plus his songs have a samey/FF style, and doing tapping licks is a bit corny in an indie style song
@@robertdefex3439 ok 32 , lots of ppl can learn an extra instrument by 32. . The Mammoth guitar parts are not that special, its lots of strumming like a Foo Fighters song, then some corny tapping. Tapping neever fits in a heavy indie style like he plays, does he really think the public is EXCITED by tapping in 2023. I was tired of his dads tapping by the second half of teh 80s, NO ONE with a clue re guitar hears some corny tapped arpeggio and gets impressed.. I thikn EVH was overrated adn his son is annoying imo
You singing at the TH tribute is why I am on your channel every single day! I knew who The Darkness was before from DJing "Thing Called Love" a gazillion times in Nashville (You're welcome hee) since it's release, but when I saw you freaking NAIL the VH songs, duuuuuude, I was absolutely blown away and honestly, no one else could've handled Roth's voice but you!! That said, I just got my signed Mammoth WVH II CD in the mail last night and I'm "fixin'" to throw down on his new record! I've heard most of the trax but I need phones and then big, phat speakers!! Rock on Wolf and Justin and all you brave Rock-n-Roll disciples and originators! 🤘 "Rock-n-Roll will never die!"
I think that’s a common thing that happens to greats artists’ sons. Enrique Iglesias said on an interview that he hid who his father was so people could believe on his talent and not accusing him of having privileges because of his father. Wolfang is full of talent. We need more people like this.
Despite being in the appropriate age range, I was honestly never a huge Van Halen fan. But here I am pushing 60, and loving everything I've heard from Wolfgang. I love the way he's doing his own thing.
I love Van Halen. Wolfgang is his father’s son. He grew up in a musical household and took to music much like his father and uncle. Edward Van Halen is proud of Wolfgang and wants him to blaze his own trail. I’m with Wolfgang and props to him for sticking to his guns
The fact that he gets hate at all is ridiculous, the dude is an incredible talent and just seems like a remarkably sweet guy. I wish nothing but the best for him.
As a die hard VH since the 80s, I respect Wolf and his talent. I think we should be grateful the VH legacy continues. How often do you see a father/son connection like this in the industry?
How can anyone be a Rock & Roll fan and not like what Wolfgang Van Halen has done with Mammoth WVH? Seriously.. How can someone dislike what he is doing? He is Fantastic at everything he does.. The tunes are Solid.. By the way, If you are one of those people that do not like him using his own name then you are the one of the problems on this planet.. Wolfgang is Awesome!!!!
But why not call it Wolfgang or use his name as a solo artist ? If hes not letting the band play on the records its not really a band its a solo project
@@CourtWatchAu , So i guess that Van Halen should not have used that name either because David Lee Roth was in the band and Micheal Anthony? Its Wolfgangs Music.. He writes it all.. His Name is Van Halen.. he can use his own name genius
@@kirkwilson8738 YOu seem to have missed the point. Wolfgang Van Halen is his name, BUT Mammoth was his DADS BANDS name. So why a) name a solo project as a band and b) call it a band name that your dad had before van halen ?
Hes not using his own name Kirk, hes calling it MAMMOTH which is teh name of a band his dad and uncle had in the 70s. he should eithe let his bandmates play on the records and call it some band name or call it wolfgang or WVH or wahetevrr nad keep being solo artist. hes sending misleading signals that its a band when its really teh solo project that tours with a band

Wolfgang is so talented! He's got it all ... writer, singer and multi-instrumentalist with a style all his own ... what's not to love? HUGE respect for Wolf!!! ♥
He's got it all -- except for a grasp on his physical health and image. "All" of that other "all" that you mentioned is worthless if your health collapses on you. That's my ONLY issue with him. It appears as if he pays no attention to his physical self care. He's young enough that it may not be causing him any serious issues yet, but one day it undoubtedly will. There was a time in my life that I was poisoning myself with food and led a sedentary lifestyle of frequent illness and medications. Luckily something got my attention before it turned into a catastrophic health event.
@@freepressright Lots of those guys who fit that image are on meth/coke/H or steroids. Let's hope he adjusts his priorities while not taking the typical road.
Not related to this, but I just listened to Permission to Land for the first time. I was struck by 4 songs, but Holding my Own blew me away! Brilliant! I'm kinda mad at myself for finally, just now finding the Darkness!
Love Wolfgang...he's a special talent that has to endure way too much crap. Looking forward to spinning the new record in its entirety today. Cheers Justin and WVH! 🎉🎊
Never knew people hated on him for using his surname 😂 That's absurd. I LOVE when artists play all the instruments on an album, I'd love to do that someday
When you and Wolf did the 3 song sets at Taylor's tribute show it was absolutely amazing. His first album is awesome, cant wait to hear where he goes next
Someone said to him " You're just trying to be Van Halen" to which he replied " That is my fucking name dude" I love his talent, its obviously a family gift.
Was not aware that he's playing all by himself. Even more impressive to me as it already was. Fantastic playing, great arrangements, killer hooks, Hell yeah!
I know Eddie would be cussing the haters out hard. His son is carrying on a legacy and forming his own identity as a musician and I love what I'm hearing, his debut album puts a lot of bands to shame with how great it is, I would seriously love to work with him someday, if that opportunity ever presented itself.
An amazing talent the work he puts in to be this good. The new album is so good. Wish people would just stop with the hate. He has earned respect and recognition
He's going to continue getting dogged for carrying the Van Halen surname and being in the music industry... like nobody else, and that is not fair. Having said that, I don't listen to his music, but I support him on his journey to make a name for himself outside his family's legacy.
I’ve seen Mammoth a couple of weeks ago on a festival, they are awesome! I don’t understand the jealousy and hate. The records are really well recorded and the songwriting is also top notch.
Wolfgang is an absolute beast of a musician and songwriter in his own right and his album absolutely and unequivocally proves that he has stepped out of his father's shadow or at least should to any fan of rock and roll. \m/
Hard when parents are famous, people will always compare instead of seeing them as individual artists. Happened to Teddy Richards, Aretha Franklin son. He used to get booed of the stage because his music wasn't like his mother's. He graciously signed a personalised message on his gravity CD that I purchased way back in 2006 that he sent to me.
After doing a Van Halen deep dive all day on RUclips, I finally got to watch the Taylor Hawkins tribute performance featuring Wolfgang, Dave Grohl, Josh Freeze, and Justin Hawkins. What a supergroup! I never thought I'd see the four of you play together. Wolfie's soloing made me tear up. Love you, Justin. I never miss seeing The Darkness any opportunity I get.
Another Celebration is one of the only songs that caught my ear in a LONG time. It's SO good, rarely do you hear a song that is that fast nowadays with that much energy.
I saw them live at Wembley during the motley Crüe and def Leppard tour and Wolfgang’s band was probably the best thing about the show 😂. So good and incredible live, you really feel all of the instruments rocking through your body
Anyone who throws hate at Wolf is just an idiot! The kid is uber talented and humble. I am a lifetime VH/Ed fan and I think it is refreshing that he is doing his own thing. Had he tried to be his Dad he would be received the same amount of hate BS. His songs a great and they are contemporary. Full props to Wolf!
Wolf couldn't possibly please everyone. NO matter what he does, there will be a critic. We should just be grateful that Ed created Wolf and get to see the VH family legacy continue.
He deserves zero hate but massive credit. It would be way easier for him to live off Eddie’s estate but he’s a musician compelled to ply his craft. Apart from being a very cool dude - he’s extremely hard working & talented. So f**k the haters. As an old school VH fan - I love the guy. Rock on Wolfie 🤘👍
Wolfgang is an amazing talent and from what I’ve seen, a very pleasant and amazing human being. Justin you own the thumbs up in my book and I give all-around thumbs up to Wolfgang. Your performance together was mind-blowingly enjoyable and excellent! Try to ignore the negativity. Unfortunately, they’re everywhere, no matter what. Unnecessary and meaningless in reality. Smiles and positivity to you always!👍🏼🥰
Whoever can’t love Wolfie on his own merits is stuck in the past. He isn’t his dad. He played in Van Halen, but it’s time for him to fly. His dad would have been super proud. His mom sure is. Those of us who are smart and can recognize his extraordinary abilities and creativity- and being a super kind guy . . . well, everyone trying to make Wolfgang into his dad need a reality check. Even if his dad was still alive, he would have eventually gone off and done his own thing. He tried to get even a single show together to honor his dad’s life, and the remaining Van Halen members couldn’t set aside their differences for a single show or even a full tour? Well, what was Wolfie supposed to do after trying and trying? He moved on for his own good, and rightly so. I’m loving what he’s been doing between the music itself and the music videos - they’re purely awesome!
Imagine the pressure the entire world has placed on that kid. "Oh, you are the child of Edward Van Halen and you are going to make music too?! Cute. Good luck living up to that." He's handled all that in stride and has done a good job of carving his own path without living in his dad's shadow. I'm not in love with his music but it's all technically very good. Lots of respect for him as a person and a player.
No he hasn't he hasn't handled it well at all you ask him about Van Halen he starts throwing a little tantrum like you're pulling teeth out of them he's actually a little bitch. And he's an excellent musician and you don't have to kiss his ass because he's Van Halen's son calling out when he's being a jerk don't lick his balls
@whiskeybassboy You described struggle; not pressure. Everyone experiences pressure differently. The entire world is not looking at that single mom saying, "your mom was literally the best single mom in the world, ever, and if you don't live up to that, you're complete trash on every level." He'll never have to worry about where he's going to sleep, but it's really not the easiest environment in which to develop a genuine sense of self-worth.
We are all spiritual sons of the late Great, Edward Van Halen. It's a blessing that Wolfgang has become the incredible artist that he's become. It could've been much worse, it could've been trouble with the cops or drugs, or total destruction and ruin and shame to the incredible legacy of the great shredding godfather himself. Instead we get the version of reality with a talented and masterful musician and artist that is entertaining people around the world like his Dad. Proudly sharing the legacy of greatness forward. If anyone hates on that then they are the ones who need to grow up enjoy the great tunes and lighten up francis.
WVH is such an incredibly talented, hard working musician, performer and vocalist. He deserves all the credit for all that he's done, and often in the face of weird VH fans who worshipped his father but attack Eddie's beloved son...so weird. Anyone who thinks he's a nepo baby hasn't listened to his music.
As my therapist says- not many people know how to grieve deeply. So unfortunately, it transforms into anger and hate of a reality they cannot control. WVH seems awesome and a beautifully strong man that doesn't give two shits to the haters. His fire backs on twitter are hilarious but would grind anyone. Im glad hes got the support of fellow musicians.
I hadn't heard anything from Mammoth WVH until I heard them open for Alter Bridge. They blew me away at that show and I've been a fan ever since. Plus, he seems so genuinely nice, I can't imagine anyone having hate for him. As for not playing Van Halen songs, I'm sure he just wants to make it on his merits.
As an older guy, I've seen lots of superstars kids get treated like crap because people expect them to be exactly like their parents. It's very unfair. Many of them are quite talented as well, such as Julian Lennon, Sean Lennon Devon Allman, Michael Allman, and lots more. I feel bad for the crap that they are put through simply because of who their parents are.
Some people are still coping with the grief and lost of EVH. They still think Wolfgang will pick up where his father left it. Evolution doesn't mean copying. Good for him to be himself.
@@CourtWatchAu a band that had 2 BROTHERS in it, but you don't think a son/nephew belongs in a band named after HIS family? Plus, it's a band known for having a revolving door of singers who took the band in dinstinctly different directions. You can't knock his talent, so you have to mock his weight or chalk it all up to nepotism. EVH clearly trained WVH for this, he put him in the public eye at an early age for this very reason. Also, you are liking your own comments lol.
@@poboxchristmas380 But Michael Anthony was teh bass player , and he was pushed aside for no good reason. He was the one who played the sunset strip before they got the record deal, adn now teh VH brothers throw him out ?!?! very disrespectful, I think Eddie is a disrepectful and arrogant person and Wolf has inherited or learnt from his arrogance . Conquer the world and shut up the naysayers they are just jealous because you’re so much better than their favorite band
I saw them supporting Def Leppard at Wembley and Mammoth WVH are my new fave band. Wolf has mad skills and his music speaks to my soul. I think he is epic! 🖤☯️🤘xxx
I love wolfgang thank you for doing this video!! Also, I'm still holding out for a Richie Kotzen song review something from anytime and his career would be great because it will blow your mind either way. thanks Justin for everything you do
Do Darkness fans who like energetic lively rock music with a charismatic front man prancing around on stage care about a guy who just stands there in a a tee shirt and shorts and sings and plays guitar with no bells and whistles ?
All haters are just Jealous of his talents and wish they could be half as good as him. This song rocks and so does he! Eddie is definitely smiling in another realm. 🤘
I had the pleasure of seeing his band a month ago supporting Def Leppard / Motley Crue. He was amazing and blew me away that day - great singer player and songwriter. I don't understand the hate he has got, he is awesome! Mammoth has been on my playlists heavily since then
WVH is a superb and very complete musician!!!🎤🎸🥁🎶🎶🎶 Also, he seems to be such a nice guy😊. The video has some hilarious footages😄 (I hope to see him play live next year, yeahhh!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍)
I got my ticket for December at the House of Blues (the same venue I saw him play last year). He’s amazing, live, both funny and humble. I still listen to his first album a lot. Every song on it rocks (no skip songs). \m/
I hadn't appreciated how great his voice is! Seems to me like he's worked hard to achieve that level of skill, and he doesn't take himself too seriously - those are both ingredients for an engaging performer in my mind. People bitching about him using his actual birth name is absurdly hilarious, I really hope he keeps his sense of humour and doesn't let the haters grind him down.
But he doesnt uswe his birthname for the album even though hes writing and playing ALL teh instruments, and he makes sure we all know that by doing thse videos with multiple versions of himself. So my query is why call it mammoth WVH if its a really a solo project ? And why nt let his touring band get some time to shine on teh record or in the video ? Foo fighters Dave did first album by himslef but after that he lets others play
@@CourtWatchAu are WVH not his initials? I'm sure he has his reasons, artistically or otherwise for the rest of it. Plus, his touring band aren't exactly inexperienced kids, I'm sure if they were unhappy with whatever arrangement is in place that they're big enough to voice it.
@@ZuzuTheLemon I guess , but I think it would make ppl connect with the band more if they though, I dig XX frums, or i like the bass line by YY. If hes trying to flex by doing it all , he did that on album 1, so know its time to share the playing if its gonna ve a band . PLUS Mammith was his dad band name not his dads solo work, so why reuse that ? Wolf is sending mixed signals , plus hes 30 not 18 so playing all instruments is not even that impressive ,
Grohl played all instruments in that 20min 'Play' instrumental and it was nothing special . I think wolf should learn to share his records with the band, and his dinner (and lose some weight) :)
Wolfgang is one very talented dude ! I thought it was totally brilliant when you guys did the Taylor Hawkins Tribute and Wolfgang peeled off On Fire and Hot for Teacher! The fact that Wolfgang even went into music considering the immense shadow his father casts not only shows great confidence in himself but it also speaks volumes that not only was his father a musical prodigy he was one hell of a father.
Being old enough to have seen Van Halen in the 80's, two things strike me: 1. How can so much talent come from just one family - Eddie, Wolgang and Alex 2. Critics be damned. The guy plays all the instruments, and is making some of the best rock music this side of the noughties. It actually gives me a big smile knowing rock is safe in good and talented hands.
His name is Wolfgang van Halen. So why can't he use his own name? Also, his name is Wolfgang van Halen. Not Eddie van Halen. So he should be playing Wolfgang van Halen's music. I can't see any reason for hating him at all. He's quite the musician himself.
Spot on. As always. I think he’s honoring his father by NOT playing VH music because EVH seemed proud that Wolfgang was carving his own path. Glad y’all are touring the states but I gotta drive 6 hours to see you guys in October. Maybe y’all can do a tour of the Southern states with Mammoth at some point soon.
Wolfie gives me hope that rock music still has a future! No one should expect him to play Van Halen music, he isn't his father, he is his own person. If you don't like it, don't listen, but you're the loser in that equation because he is putting out some killer stuff!
Indeed. When I hear the “throwback” music this large man is putting out I can’t help but respect the fact that he is making new music for a dying generation ⚰️
Wolfgang VanHalen has shown more maturity, groundedness, humility, natural epic talent and class. Anyone who wants to put him down better have the same or better skills set this young man is bringing to the table.
All I can say is that I, and my close friends who love VH, have pulled for Wolfgang the whole way! I loved watching you perform Hot for Teacher with Wolfgang, Justin!
Eddie loved his son so much he directly quoted him on the hit track ‘One I Want,’ from their landmark album ‘Van Halen III!’ Don’t believe me? Look at the second line of verse 2: “Pizza? Man… Just Wanna Slice!” That’s right, that is a direct quote from Wolfdown Van Halen himself! Let’s stop the hate y’all 🍕
I saw Mammoth open for Alter Bridge (who I also love) and WVH and his bandmates were incredible!!! He truly is talented in his own right and has it all. So proud of him too, Justin! 🤩⭐
I’ve always been a HUGE VanHalen fan, and I’ve seen Wold play both in VH and on his first Mammoth tour. He’s incredible, absolutely gifted, and I intend to see him again on this upcoming tour. Anyone who hates on him is either stuck in the past, or doesn’t want to see Rock and aroll succeed. He’s bringing back rocking solos and musicianship hands down.
People have been waiting for you, Justin, to do a reaction video on WVH song 'Take a bow' , in which Wolfie plays a long solo using original Frankenstrat through VH1-era Marshalls. I think the Taylor Hawkins Tribute gave Wolfie more courage to use more of his fathers sounds and playing tricks. But haters are going to hate no matter what he does. Another interesting thing is that after Taylor Hawkins Tribute Joe Satriani said that his services are no more needed for any possible EVH Tribute. According to him Wolfie can handle Eddie's part as well as himself.
I love that Wolfgang is doing his own thing. You can honor the past without being a copy of it.

Very well said!👍
It sounds like an Aldi version of VH(cheap and nasty) just like so many bands from the 80's who ripped off VH. If he can't find his own sound, he needs to give up. Nothing he has done can be classed as even good. The only people who even know he exists are old VH fans. If his music was any good he would be more well known.
@@Me-qp8vzWow. Listen to one of the songs before you spout any more drivel.
Wolfgang is a talented young man, and deserves no hate at all 🤘🏻
Wolfgang likes to talk about "dont use tracks" and makes other comments so its fair for ppl to criticize that.
Plus his songs have a samey/FF style, and doing tapping licks is a bit corny in an indie style song
He's old he's 32

"Rock-n-Roll will never die!"
Guy has been among the greatest guests in the Taylor Hawkins tribute shows and wore the biggest smile in both of them as well.
Well, besides Joe and Michael Jackson & Alan and Robin Thicke- not often. What legendary company!

Wolfgang is so talented! He's got it all ... writer, singer and multi-instrumentalist with a style all his own ... what's not to love? HUGE respect for Wolf!!! ♥
I think his image could do with some improvement. Most rock bands/stars have 'a look' but Wolf seems to pay no attention to that area

@kevinmichael9482 I know right?! He’s also literally a “Mammoth” and no one ever mentions that!

This is a misquote. Someone actually said to him “you’re just trying to EAT Van Halen!”

I had no idea Eddie “got hard” from cussing. Interesting.
Justin’s laughs are my favorite 😀
Rockstar, multi-instrumentalist, great singer, son of every guitar player's hero... If the hate isn't jealousy I'll eat the rest of Justin's hat!
Not fast enough Dave! Looks like Wolf down already ate it 🥣
I love everything he's put out and seen him live twice. He's unbelievably talented
Imagine the pressure the entire world has placed on that kid. "Oh, you are the child of Edward Van Halen and you are going to make music too?! Cute. Good luck living up to that."
He's handled all that in stride and has done a good job of carving his own path without living in his dad's shadow.
The entire world is not looking at that single mom saying, "your mom was literally the best single mom in the world, ever, and if you don't live up to that, you're complete trash on every level."
He'll never have to worry about where he's going to sleep, but it's really not the easiest environment in which to develop a genuine sense of self-worth.
@whiskeybassboy Even multi millionaires have careers. People need to work at something. Pressure is self generated. It isn't all about money.
@rickjason215 Absolutely correct, and one's issues are not invalidated by the fact that someone else might face more issues. It still matters.

The fact that Wolfgang even went into music considering the immense shadow his father casts not only shows great confidence in himself but it also speaks volumes that not only was his father a musical prodigy he was one hell of a father.
Being old enough to have seen Van Halen in the 80's, two things strike me:
1. How can so much talent come from just one family - Eddie, Wolgang and Alex
2. Critics be damned. The guy plays all the instruments, and is making some of the best rock music this side of the noughties. It actually gives me a big smile knowing rock is safe in good and talented hands.
I just bought tickets to see him -- he's an amazing musician. I couldn't give a rat's ass what anyone else thinks!

I’m the biggest EVH fan but this kid is awesome.. and not playing VH is the right call..
