She plays right in the goove of the songs and doesn't try to stand out or over play the music. Also while I’d like to see the footage on the audition supposed one of the songs she had to play when she joined skillet was Tom Sawyer. Neil Peart was my favorite drummer, if Jen can truly play Tom Sawyer well she’s got skills.
To all of the fans in here telling other people to shut up, and she's great, and stop with criticism, etc. You can't take offense that she's not the "greatest", and also realize that it's not important to be "the best". She can only be the best that she can be, just like all of us. Sure she's not Neil Peart or Mike Portnoy's level, But she's satisfying the bands needs and also the fans, and her own passion. So nothing else really matters unless she wants to surpass her current abilities.

This is drumming that has nothing to prove. She knows what she can do and does it. No doubt about it, this is a perfect drummer for a band. She's not attacking the drums as though they were a primary instrument; this is the approach. This is the way to be the great accompanist.
The ability to play and the opportunity to get coverage are two very different things. There are lots of fantastic drummers even limited to youtube who aren't touring arenas.

uhm actually a well-tuned drum is tuned to a note; it is common to tune toms to relative 4ths, for example. Some will de-tune the lower head on a tom slightly to give a "lowering" effect on the note... The fundamental note is generally less apparent on the snare drum because, if "wide open" (no dampening), there will generally be a high presence of harmonics. But judging what you just said, you likely have no idea what I'm talking about... ;)
Okay, the reason why everyone is dissing her (My Opinion) is that the camera quality is very very very poor. Here is the same person, playing the same solo, BUT with great quality. Hmm, no critiques on here by Jon Bonham, so I'm just gonna come out and say it. Maybe Jen isn't the best drummer in the world; maybe not even in the top ten, but what she does, she does well enough to achieve national renown while haters type from their momma's basements. She's a beautiful, talented, christian performer, who can play and sing quite well at the same time. Even as an atheist, I enjoy watching and listening to her and her band very much. Qualify before you critique.
