This is a clip of Karen Carpenter from 1968 playing on the set of Your All American College Show. She was just 18 years old at the time! 😱
And, well, she’s not just playing a basic beat while singing, there’s some seriously tasty stuff in there.
Have you ever tried to sing and drum at the same time? 💬

@@TheMICMusicInspirationChannel ABSOLUTELY. The reason I have loved Karen's voice so much is that she sounds so much like my mother, Andra Willis (Muhoberac), who was on the Lawrence Welk show as a top regular performancist .. they share so many similarities. Mum never played drums, of course, but piano and violin. Excellent. John Denver even did a version of the song she wrote for me as a baby.. "No One Like You".. which has been recorded 3 times over the years by her, and covered by so many people around the world. Proud of her and my father Larry.
