Old fashioned triple wheel combo!
A Spirit wheel, a Bitters wheel, and a Sweetener wheel!
@@maxgustafsson7802 that would be great
syrups?
What if you did this but it was just any mixed drink and whatever you have in your bar?
@@maxgustafsson7802 I like this plan because it has potential to make my least favorite drink accident. Kirk and sweeny rum, peychauds bitters, sugar.
It was an abomination.
This channel has had eras: the era of classic cocktail breakdowns, the era of pop culture inspired cocktails, the era of cocktail comparison/obscure cocktails. We are now in the era of "Let's cause Greg as much pain and distress as possible"
Also known as "The Golden Age".
@@christraven not long before we reach the TipsyBartender age where Greg starts making all sorts of party sized jungle juices.
P.S: I love TipsyBartender, and this comment was not made to mock his content, I genuinely love whatever he releases.
I was thinking the same thing!
(I miss Greg's creativity taken to the extreme, tbh)
And brief flre-ups of drunk Anarcho syndicalist era
I kinda miss the history episodes ngl.
How it started: "We have to keep the noise down cracking ice"
How it's going: "PEACHES!"
The 🍑 PEACHES!!! 🍑 🤣
11:12 gave me an asthma attack.
Love that Greg was courteous enough to avoid breaking ice on the table only to go on to scream "PEACHES!" repeatedly.
I love how Greg calls the Crown Royal bag a dice bag. I have seen them used for dice far, far more often than I've seen it hold whiskey bottles.
For real! 😂😂
at my old college, we just had a random shopping bag full of crown royal bags (aka dice bags) in our tabletop club storage locker. Didn't even know we had that. I used a mesh bag that came with my headphones (I had a bunch because I'd get replacements under warranty) for my dice.
Haha when I was little I was given a "dice bag" full of marbles. I loved it and thought the bag was just the coolest thing ever and it work great!
Crown royal and Titos bags are the most common dice bags in my D&D circles.
Ive seen it used to bag up the ends on snake cable. Basically a thick microphone cable that splits into 8-16 connectors on each side. Different colored bags for 1-4, 5-8, etc.
This video feels deeply unhinged and I don't think I will ever recover from "it's a himbo of a drink". I'd be fascinated to see a gin wheel! (Tried a local rhubarb ginger gin and tonic this weekend that was fantastic!)
That sounds lovely. I recently finished a bottle of chocolate gin from my favorite distillery. It was a goddamned abomination and I hope they never make anything that vile ever again.
Himbo of a drink made me want to try it so bad it sounds like my taste in drinks (as someone whodrinks flavoured whiskeys as sippers
Would love to see an "herb episode". Drinks with other fresh herbs (other than mint). Probably should've done it on 4/20 for the memes.
The basil julip caught my attention.
Seconding this! I started exploring cocktail crafting from a culinary background and so I love getting herbs like rosemary, thyme, sage, basil, and tarragon involved in my drinks, but I don't see a lot of people exploring it.
Tarragon would work well in an absinthe cocktail.
@@fabrisseterbrugghe8567 Tarragon is utterly unappreciated. I think it's problem is that it does really well in recipes that would be boring, and people *expect* boring when they make them.
So, pretty much a gin episode.
I love that even before you've even opened the bottle, let alone finished it, the crown royal bag is already a dice bag. At no point in its life is the crown royal bag FOR the crown royal
Can we see an episode with multiple wheels where you throw the spirits into a Long Island Iced Tea? I can imagine the absolute horror that could come of that.
I just wanna say thanks, man. A month ago, I signed up for bartending school and I used your videos to pass the time. I graduated last week, and your videos helped me prepare (and keep me entertained) until I got there. I know you say you never worked processionally as a bartender, but you were still a great help to me.
Congratulations and good luck on overcoming the coke addiction you’re about to develop
Lol "bartending school"
Another member of the "Greg helped me through bartending school" club!
So what you're saying is... you passed the bar exam?
Been a bartender for years and Greg’s videos still teach me new stuff sometimes. Now my girl is learning bartending and I’m putting her on to the channel
Damn, you almost killed me with the PEACHES. I choked on my drink with that.
PEACHes
I was in tears throughout that segment. It is now a household meme.
I'd only book that clown if I intend that he never leaves again if you understand.
It wasn't enough for the odd idea of an obnoxious clown ruining your wine tasting with screaming and doing a little breakdance, but it is Greg's deadpan delivery of the description that dictates a demonically duplicitous diatribe such as that.
I'm dying! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"What's the point of flavored whiskey?"
Ask any college student, especially one in a frat, or that handsome black man with a Caribbean accent that makes potions that make you fall down, I'm sure either one can figure out something to do with it, especially if there's a party coming up.
This episode has made me laugh out loud more than any other. Greg’s expression after tasting the New York Sour the first time, and then his clown exclamation of, “Peaches!” just killed me. To borrow another post’s phrase, I love this era! Keep up the Wheel of Death!
I love that anyone who has ever played any kind of TTRPG will almost instinctively call a Crown Royal bag a dice bag. I need to see art of that whole New York Sour scenario real bad.
Very true. I honestly thought "I need to go buy some Peach Crown" just so I could have an orange dice bag... and then never drink the Peach Crown because it just sounds bad in any way, shape, or form.
@@GeoffHinkle I could see it in some Tiki drink, maybe played against other flavored crap booze, but that's about it.
@@GeoffHinkle do you like peach sweet tea? That's what it taste like
@@GeoffHinkle Protip: if you have a bar you frequent enough that you are a semi-regular and they carry flavored crowns, just ask if you could have one next time they get a shipment, they most likely just give them away to people anyway, and if they are doing enough business that they are getting one or two bottles even in the span of a month you can probably snag one. Thats how i have my full collection of colored crown bags. green, cream colored, peach, I even have the Amber Crown bag with the snowflake on it that was for the limited edition winter salted caramel release.
Then my Dankpods infected brain saw it and went "That's a good egg bag!"
You can tell when Greg starts to get tipsy from the sips. He gets louder, more energetic, and puts more emphasis on certain things that I don't normally see him emphasize. Good video though lol
it's a bit sloppy. he even comments that it's not his best content. probably bc he's already tipsy
"Ah, this might be good", and then it tastes terrible, over and over again.
Keep doing it, Greg. The joke never stops being funny.
I love how "the episode that shall not be named" is part of the channel lore as the reason Greg can't drink Manhattans anymore. Sad because the Manhattan is one of my personal favourite cocktails, but hilarious nonetheless.
I think I've seen that episode, but I forget what happened in it. Do you remember the video title so I can refresh my memory?
@@gregvs.theworld451 It's the Manhattan Matrix, I think it's literally called "this episode almost killed me" or something along those lines
“Here’s a taste of the neat Whiskey Dick…”
You did that on purpose, Greg.
I feel like keeping the balance from the classic cocktail with the (often sweetened) whiskeys is a mistake. which is why they always end up too sweet, might be worth giving them a chance to be balanced by pulling down the syrup.
You often also have recipes call for half flavored half unflavored whiskey for the drinks.
Beat me to it, my thoughts exactly
As much as I enjoy the wild cursed cocktails, I miss when Greg made drinks he liked, went into history about them or would make fun drinks of fiction.
I do too. And even if he doesn't have many classic cocktails left (I have not idea how many there are tbh), I'd even be down for making a drink and telling us a historical tale. "Today we are making grog. But not the navy grog we made last time, the kind pirates circa xxxx would have made. They would have been light on ingredients and had to scavenge, so we'll be using ______.
"Now that we have our grog in hand to fight off the scurvy, let's look at who would have been drinking this. Someone like Calico Jack (or whoever)." *Goes into interesting tale about Calico Jack*
@@bradleylovej Basically the Tasting History of bartending? That could be interesting!
I wouldn’t mind a sort of “reboot” or a “back to basics” series. It’s been years since some of those early videos, where the Old Fashioned video was 2 and a half minutes.
@@pupsinsbarks you mean drinking history 😉
I loved the drinks inspired by popular culture! The idea was unique, he created interesting cocktails, and he seemed so passionate about the movies, shows or games he talked about!
Meredith's hearty belly laugh at Greg's Bartesian joke was an instant day brightener. Such a contagious, infectious laugh. The Omicron variant of laughs. In a good way.
Really enjoying Meredith’s inclusion more on the show and on the “Wheel” episodes. You two have a good dynamic and it’s fun to see her reaction to the gross and sometimes good drinks that come up.
Very much, awesome to see Meredith taking a more visible role.
I could do with less of it quite frankly
Am I the only one who feels like Greg was channeling "Tank" on the opener? Which I mean, his Cowboy Bebop episode proved he could do it.
That was where my mind went too
I wanted to comment on “why the fuck was he copying the Bebop opening for his game show themed episode” but thought I was just imagining it.
Glad to know we’re legion.
I would like to see a followup on this episode where he takes each of the whiskeys and find a drink that highlights them the best, if it's possible.
Can he do it, can it be done?
gotta say - loving Meredith's increased involvement in the episodes. It's good to see Greg playing off of another person who's also knowledgable and can add her own flair. Keep Meredith around!
These whiskeys don’t seem like they’re suited to being a replacement for the main spirit in a drink. They’re usually heavily sweetened, which isn’t the case for normal whisky, and much lower proof. Maybe if they were added as a modifier, or say 1 ounce of the flavored whisky and one ounce of normal whisky to raise the proof and cut the sweetness, they would work better.
flavored whiskeys are meant to be shots.
I will say most flavored whiskeys aren't that lower. Most tend to be 70 proof
Well, yes, but we're not here for good cocktails, we're here to see Greg in pain
I honestly think that's kind of the point.
@@deviationblue …oh I was using royal black for my shots lll
*Opens video*
*Listens to Greg explain the premise*
Me: Oh. Something bad is about to happen to an Old Fashioned, isn't it?
Is there a series coming where Greg tries to take all these flavored spirits and mix them into good cocktails?
That's what I want to see! Maybe starting from the recipes from the companies themselves. I know that Screwball has several for their PB whiskey. Then improving them if necessary.
I'll never get tired of watching Greg get progressively more drunk while trying to describe the weirdest drinks
Just here to add feedback. I am LOVING how Meridith is showing up more in these videos. You having someone to bounce things off of and get a second POV on things, has really had great results.
Also she just comes across as a fucking gem of a human being.
@@deviationblue ^^^^this exactly this
How drunk was Greg during this episode I think this was filmed directly after the vodka wheel episode lol.
idk he looked more drunk at the end of that one to me!
@@criemer2586 But here he started being tipsy before
I wish you would have gotten the Walnut Toffee for an Old Fashion. I think that would have tasted awesome!
I don't know enough about cocktails to know if this qualifies as a different drink altogether, but cherry and lime go together well in nonalcoholic preparations, so maybe a Cherry Whiskey Smash with limes instead of lemons would turn out better. You might not even need to cut down on the amount of simple syrup just by cutting the sweetness with more lime.
“Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away” is attributed to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a beloved French author and aviator (1900-1944). I think it’s from “The Airman’s Odyssey”, although I do not know which book in that three-volume compilation contains it.
Wait the little prince dude??!?!?!? Holy shit
I just learned a whole lot about the dude who wrote "Le Petit Prince".
The interesting part about these episodes is, that it shows that even those weird flavored spirits can be used successfully in a cocktail, even though they are barely drinkable when neat.
It doesn't answer the question how they appeared in the house in the first place, but at least it offers a way to get rid of them.
In my experience, it’s always grandma. “Well I know you love peach…”
I use that Walnut Toffee Cask and Crew all the time! I make old fashioneds with it using brown sugar and cocoa bitters. 😊
That sounds amazing
How to Drink series idea: I hear terms like "Pre-prohibition" era drinks, disco era drinks, modern era drinks, etc. I would enjoy watching you take your knowledge of cocktail history to carve out some distinct eras and give us cocktails that should be drunk from that era and cocktails that should end with their era.
I've thought about the same thing! Great idea, if I do say so myself lol
I miss the video game inspired drinks, Greg. Elden Ring feels like a prime contender for a video.
I would love this
Rise, Tarnished
When my dad gave me the graduation gift that started my burgeoning home bar, the bottles he picked out were tanqueray gin, and a canadian club apple. Let me tell you, that canadian club apple made a damn good toddy
The Crown Peach goes rather well with a nice sharp ginger beer. The spice from the ginger kinda mellows the artificial peach.
It's more of a quick mixed drink rather than a cocktail, but its pretty decent on a hot evening
I can't believe the flavored vodka episode went easier than this.
I've never had a New York sour but I love the peach Crown in a regular whiskey sour.
So how much syrup do you put in that? Because I find I only put in a quarter ounce when mixing with Crown products (except the Harvest Rye) because they're so sweet.
Shouldve gone south for a peach long island iced tea. THAT is something I might try making.
I think you have to mix with normal whiskey in most cases to lessen the sweetness overload. A normal manhatten with a splash of fruit whiskey is one of my favorites. Leopolds blackberry whiskey is great for this.
I think we can all agree that this show is at its funniest when we can see Greg’s grasp on reality making a break for freedom out of his ears.
PEACHES!
I kinda want to just see an episode of this dedicated to spinning the wheel for just old fashioneds. I feel like some flavors could work well but others definitely would not. It would be a pretty entertaining episode imo.
Wheel of Whisky - ah I remember that Scottish gameshow from the 70s, before those kill joys in the NHS said it glamorised binge drinking when one of the contestants died of liver failure on air.
Dying of liver failure from whisky? Can't have been a true Scotsman.
Uh wow, that sounds intense
When it comes to any drink variation (using a flavored liquor or additional mixer) I generally leave out the simple syrup to start. I figure you can always reintroduce it, but you can't take it out, and most of these always lean too sweet with their full measure.
I freaking love this series you've got started between this and the vodka one. I love the idea of finding some random new combination of flavors that totally works that I'd never think to try on my own.
I just woke up my family I laughed so hard at the peach whiskey tasting notes. That was hilarious
I feel like a few of these could make their way to the local mid-priced bistro's cocktail menu. You know, the kind of place that offers an old fashioned but they use an ounce of simple syrup because people want incredibly sugary drinks.
3/4oz honey simple, 6 dashes of bitters, 3oz bourbon. That’s my old fashioned
These are probably my favorite series of videos yet, keep em comin!
I love these episodes. From them I have found my new favorite drink, Thank you for introducing me to the whiskey smash!
Would love to see a tour of the bottle collection. Do you throw out or gifts ones you don’t really use?
Loving these videos Greg, I would love to see a return of the "customer is always wrong" videos and possibly some more video game drinks. There is one from Far Cry 6 that has a recipe for burnt sugar simple syrup that I think you could make a video from
I am loving this series so freaking much
I gotta say I love it when Meredith chimes in adding to the dialogue. Love these wheelify episodes. They make for an interesting 'what if' and it's even better when something works out well. Cheers
I love this series, but I'd love to see the attempts at making any of these "good"--like with the attempts to turn drinks from tv/video games into something drinkable
Round 2 of the Skull and Wheel society. Still no robes or masks though
This is such an entertaining show format, keep em coming!
I'm going be honest here. I recently found your channel, I rarely drink, and I know nothing about making drinks. But I absolutely love all of the content I've seen! Haha. Glad you seem to be having fun and willing to take risk with new formats!
Dude, same.
I think we need more Meredith, it's
A. A second opinion.
B. Your natural co-host.
C. A second brain to bounce thoughts off of.
Just an idea.
Y'know... I'm kinda wondering what sort of cocktail the Walnut Toffee would be good in, as it DOES sound interesting.
I'm thinking Irish coffee.
Old fashioned as a desert cocktail
Fantastic episode, would love to see more like this
Love the idea of a drink you gave himbo as a flavor note and having Earth Girls Are Easy vibes. Wonderful movie
Seems like for a drink that assumes 2oz of 80 proof whiskey and .5-1oz simple, you could just use 2.5-3oz of 70 proof flavored whiskey and drop the simple and end up at the same place without a ridiculously sweet drink.
Lol wow, I was not expecting this to go so poorly. I thought at least 1 of them would be remotely ok, or at least something you could tweak slightly to make functional. Maybe this would work better with some of the flavored gins? There's plenty of those out there.
The New York Sour description story alone made this episode pure gold. its gold, Jerry, Gold!
Entertaining as always. Totally here for the recent trend of more Meredith analysis, too.
How many uses can I find for this wheel? Stay tuned
this wheel reminded me wheel of the worst from RLM, hey Greg please befriend the guys from RLM (should be easy since half of them are alcooholics) and make a wheel of booze + bad movies together
i already new you were a nerd, that much has been clear. But the fact that i was excited about the pretty peach dice bag right at the same time you actually said it out loud... god i'm so glad i'm here.
I swear, your show concepts just keep getting better and better.
I especially love "The Customer Is Always Wrong". Keep playing with concepts; you're putting out great content as always.
I was sooo hoping for a Mint Julep with Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, because I'm evil. Flavored whiskey should...not...exist! Finished whiskey is alright, sometimes, but flavored 🤢
peanut butter whisky is so good tho 🥵🥵
I really like that he called the coconut whiskey an abomination. My usual phrase for this garbage is “an abomination unto the Lord”.
I’m a trainer for a wine and spirits company. When I talk to new employees (cashiers, stock clerks) I ask what they drink. Always have one who says “whiskey”, so I ask “What type?” The response is usually “I love Skrewball. You mix it with Chambord and it tastes just like a PB & J.” And another bit of my soul dies.
@@aaaahdjsn You know, if at the end of the day you like what's in your glass, you're doing fine.

Awesome video as always!
Thanks Greg and Meredith. I am enjoying the series for sure. The "Peach colored Crown Royal Dice Bag" got me for sure. Hahaha
Hi Greg, it has been so wonderful going through all your content it has given me the confidence to try to mix cocktails for myself. while watching this video I thought it actually might be neet you see you make a good cocktail from the flavored whisky or vodkas. Just an idea that I like. I wish you and everyone at HTD the best

OMG, "We got a Peach Crown Royal Dice Bag". Bruh, you are *legit*. Mad respect here, one nerd to another.
That said, Greg. Seriously. Make drinks I might want to make and drink. Just a suggestion, one tipsy gamer to another.
First time in my 29 years I’ve heard the word himbo. I didn’t need to know this. you didn’t need to know this. May it forever be forgotten.
I would love an episode where you spin the wheel and make the best cocktail you can create with that flavored drink. It would help me finally find delicious things to do with all this flavored alcohol people like to give as gifts.
Honestly, I hardly ever comment on any video's but I really love this channel and I think this game is a very welcoming addition to the show :D keep up the great work!
I really appreciate the extra Meridith lately 💕 Greg has always been great but it's even better having someone to play off of. Keep it coming y'all
I hope you bring out more of the wheel. It’s a fun way to try new things that you’d never expect or try. I might have to do something like that. Lol
Loving these videos
Haha Greg you're such a dork and i'm absolutely here for it!
I had a very lovely Blueberry Mint Julep at Zanzibar in Louisville, KY. 100% recommend.
I love how you call the Crown Royal sleeve a “dice bag.”
Loving this wheel gimmick; it's a lot of fun! Your videos and creativity bring me a lot of joy, and I'm grateful that you keep making such fun stuff. Plus, I'm always happy to see someone succeed at doing something that's rewarding to them to make their living, rather than being stuck totally alienated from their labour like so many of us. Hell yeah.
Would love to see more tiki stuff sometime again, if you're of a mind. It's become a fixation of mine over the past two years, lol.
The limp sprig of mint paired with the particular brand of whisky in that first drink -- perfection.
Hey all, great channel. I been taking it easy but tonight my mom is getting near the end. no more hospitals she's home here with us now where she belongs. but to the lighter point I went out to grab something to feel good with. I came home with a 1/5th of Carolans Salted Caramel Creme and my very first 1/5th of Plantation. EPIC. a bit of the creme on rocks with a splash of that sugar.. it's helping. and that's one of it's purposes. we're lucky to have such things to enjoy. cherish every sip of life. I'll call the drink "Cilla's Send-off". awesome channel & group.
Hands down Greg always makes my day
Oh boy! A new episode of the wheel and the skull. My favorite.😀
I did not expect a discussion about HIMBOS but Im here for it
Thanks for another brilliant video. I think it would be interesting to make the same drink - perhaps an old fashioned - with each whiskey and see how the flavour profiles work (or don't)
Really loving this random flavored spirit wheel cocktail game keep'r goin
