We are don't worry.
The wozberries taste like wozberries
You should have tried mango white claw thats best selling one
So you mean to tell me that:
A) The AK guy has poor taste in Hard Seltzer.
B) He needs to shoot all of those crappy garbage trash tier ones even more.
(Yes this is a joke.)
Alternate title: “Man who only sort of likes hard seltzer develops a hatred for hard seltzer”
Understandable, Hard Seltzer is absolute trash, it's just cider, but with all of the enjoyment and taste sucked out of it
I am the target audience.
@@xPandamon It's not even cider. It's a sugar wash with added flavors. It is trash, though. That's for sure.
@@xPandamonhard seltzers is just alkaseltzer with vodka but alkaseltzer was already trademarked
@@Vykk_Draygo Yeah I know, too me it feels like it wants to be cider (although it just sucks unlike Cider)
"tastes like the air inside a My Little Pony from the 80's" is the description I never knew I needed until today.
Weird thing is, I know exactly what that smell is despite being a 90's child and never being near an MLP toy. That cheap rubbery smell, a little peppery but oddly moist smelling. I must have had a bunch of cheap toys made out of the same crap as a kid.
@@shaunmorrison6448 and there's a weird sweetness to it.
I now have so many questions about Greg's upbringing.
This video is awesome. I love the very frank comments. AND Greg huffing My Little Pony feet... that's an image. 😁
I have tried a few hard seltzers and really didn't like them. I am glad to know that someone else has had a similar experience.
Ode de My Little Pony toy. I thought I was the only one who described plastic smells that way, lol!
"Tastes like a strawberry farted into a wet paper bag"
Pack it up, that was as good as it gets.
Just drink vodka tonics and laugh at this vid.
Didn't even finish the comparison. I just heard "tastes like a strawberry farted" and burst out laughing at work and paused to find the first comment I could see referring to this segment of the video. Thank you for your comment.
15:58 for the laughs!
It's finally here.... the defining moment of our generation..!
Hi there! My girlfriend actually works for Gallo, and we got to try High Noon before it hit the market. The people who made it really worked hard to make a quality product, not just a market competitor. We're glad you liked it! I have to try it with Tajin now.
Yeah that stuff is awesome, sold it to so many people had to try myself
i don't drink hard seltzers often, but when I got grab a 4 pack i only grab High Noon. Its the only hard seltzer that i don't hate drinking.
Gallo? They make crap wine.
In this episode, Greg demonstrates why he didn't become a wide receiver.
Tbf I assume most wide receivers are sober when on the field

To be fair. He probably could have been WR2 on the jets.
"It tastes like my dad smells" is probably one of the most devastating opinions you can give to any kind of food item.
Reminds me of The Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy
"This place smells like grandma's house"
"Worse, this place smells like grandma"
My friend on being given a drink I had made: "This smells like a bar where you make bad decisions."
Me: "...so - yes or no?"
Him: "The night's not over yet. Ask me later."
Honestly, I feel very validated by these opinions, as I have had friends call me crazy for mixing my own seltzers ahead of the party rather than drink white claw or bud light. Thanks for running through that!
seriously though, flavored seltzers are some of the easiest "complicated" drinks to make, just need a carbonation thing-a-ma-doo. Add some vodka to the recipe, and voilà: flavored hard seltzer.
@@PaulMab9 Isn't a whiskey coke technically a hard seltzer?
@@lred1383 I mean if drinks were only classified by what is in it, instead of what they are supposed to taste like, then most drinks would be seltzers or highballs.
I don't blame you for not wanting to drink bud lite. I don't raise my nose at cheap shitty beer, big fan of PBR, but none of the other domestic brands proudly go the cheap route by using rice as the grain of choice to make their beer.
@@dylanfarley8136 Just a btw what's the law in the US to be classified as a beer? Because where I live they can go up to 50% rice and call themselves a beer, also going in a visit to the factory they mention that rice helps the drinkability.
I'd be really interested in an episode in a similar vein about mixers, how various brands and of gingers ales, tonic waters, grapefruit sodas, colas, etc stack up against each other.
Greg to Mrs. HTD: Be right back, babe. I'm gonna go get White Girl Wasted on set.
Mrs. HTD: Ok but keep your top on this time.

Has he taken his top off for anything other the iasip episode?
Damn, racism and sexism in one comment, way to go USA
Not gonna lie, this literally made me LOL. 🤣
Well we have a new show segment.. called "Hey, throw me a.." Where Greg gets progressively drunk and cans blow up on him.
Next segment should be Apple Cider.
I vote they begin throwing bottles toward the end
Yes, apple or pear cider compsrisons would be great.
Question for you guys, who I'm assuming are American/Canadian; do you guys have Somersby ciders or is that just an Australian thing? And what ARE the popular ciders over there?
@@SanctuaryADO I've never seen Somersby around, but a quick search shows it is available in the U.S., but only at select locations. Angry Orchard seems to be one of the most popular ciders (at least in my area), that's the most likely one I'll see at any liquor store or bar. Other faves of mine that seem commonly available are Woodchuck, Strongbow, Ace Cider, etc. There's also a couple of local ones I like from here in Minnesota, Sociable Cider Werks and Duluth Cider, no idea how wide spread those are nationally.
Just throws apples at him and tells him to make some cider lmao
Bud Lite making seltzer is so funny to me. Like as if their "beer" wasn't already basically seltzer to begin with.
theyre honestly not terrible thats the thing about em. not great, but if theyre around i can drink em

Their beer is just bread flavored seltzer.
As an American that enjoys lychee, I can attest to it being a fairly polarizing flavor. Very perfumey/floral flavor.
It’s an acquired taste. Very few people like it the first time. After a few times trying it tho, it can turn into a favorite.
Seven and a half minutes in: "this dude seems pretty trashed..."

Talking about White Claws and how they taste "thin, metallic, and weak": according to my fiancé they taste like TV static, and I'll be damned it that's not the most accurate description I've heard.
...well. I cannot argue that at all. Damn.
I love weird descriptions like that. My friend says that grocery store croissants taste like crayons smell
Ive heard that description before. "Like drinking TV static while someone yells the name of a fruit from another room."
TV static, David Lynch's favorite flavor.
The drink served at the port was the flavor of a TV turned to a dead channel...
First time tuning in and this set is cool as hell
Grapefruit in my opinion is usually one of the best tasting seltzers in general(alcolic, and non alcoholic). I'm not even crazy about actual grapefruit, although I do also enjoy grapefruit sodas such as jarritos, squirt and fresca.
Squirt is a rather weird name nowadays though they should try rebranding...
Jarritos grapefruit soda is the shit. Shame it's hard to find where I live.
I love grapefruit, but can't eat it due to medication. Red Bull had a grapefruit flavor (special edition summer edition) in 2018 and I freaking LOVED it; I really wish they'd bring it back.
I feel like the swillinder needs to become a drinking game.

I’d argue that the already established brands that just piggybacked on the popularity of hard seltzers are the worst ones, for the most part. The good brands Greg tried here are not as easy to find as White Claw and Truly unfortunately.

There is something mildly hilarious about how White Claw is the Bud Light of seltzers, so Bud Light Seltzer had to be the Natty Ice of seltzer. If Natty ever makes a seltzer, it’ll just be a fart in a can.

As a simple Scotsman whose only exposure to hard seltzers is the relentless memery of the internet, this episode was suitably chaotic.
Well done as always Greg
The memes are better than the beer.
Alright fellow Scot? Think I saw a youtube ad for some of the hard seltzers coming local but somehow I don't think they'll replace the buckie
I know I'm late to the party, but I worked at a health food store for a time and I can tell you exactly why white claw is ass. It's specifically because they're marketing themselves as a health product, a low calorie drink, there is an expectation that healthy foods are worse, they have less flavour, sometimes they're more bitter and some companies lean into it. There are healthy natural binding agents for cookies that are vegan, gluten free etc. but half the health food cookies you can get don't use them because it's what's expected, it feels healthier because it's shitty. Making a good low calorie drink isn't hard to do, it's very much intentional, they don't want a good product, they want boozy la croix.
This will probably get buried, but I would strongly recommend Bravazzi italian hard soda. Easily the best seltzer I have ever had in my life. Nothing is even remarkably close, and your interpretation of the ones you tried was very similar ot my thoughts (out of the ones I have had). Check it out if you can!
Love love these but would not consider it a seltzer. It's a hard soda like the "Not your father's" products
This is the most smashed I've seen Greg in awhile, and it makes his commentary even better than usual
Since having all those Manhattans
"Thank the Lord, and I'm an atheist." lulz when are we getting a BAC meter on the side or something throughout these extended length episodes because I def. notice the difference in performance from first to last :P
Having Greg's BAC tested with a home breathalyzer during longer tasting episodes is a fantastic idea.
While definitely grateful to Greg for sacrificing for the greater good in ranking these things, extra kudos to the descriptive text commentary this episode. I lost it at the "all about that treble?" reference.
The spicy ranch water is by far the best seltzer-type drink I’ve tasted. Tastes like a really light jalapeño margarita with a heavy lime tilt but not sour. Quite refreshing in any kind of heat.
So many seltzers on the market now. The alcohol industry seems to be exploding with variety compared to the monopolization of seemingly almost every other facet of our lives.
Man at minimum there’s no stagnation of innovation. Thank god they came up with more drinks other than buying spaceships.
....well. that's the thing bro. You'll notice that like 75% of the bottles in the shelf are owned day like the same 4 parent companies.
Well, there's a reason that brewed are exploding rather than blended... it all has roots in tax law...
@@lc9072 the illusion of choice.

“A strawberry that farted” and “wet burp” are my favorite negative flavor notes ever! 😂
So here’s what you gotta do, Harpoon Brewery Based out of Boston MA has partnered with POLAR seltzer! I appreciate this episode. Want to try out some of those higher ratings and you just spared me a lot of taste testing of seltzer filtered through cardboard with notes of feat.
By far the best one yet! 35 Minutes of absolute joy!
Holy shit you tapped into a dormant smell memory with that 80s My Little Poll doll comment, that has to be the most visceral understanding of a tasting note I ever had lol
Agreed. I would "like" but that would do a disservice at the moment. Carry on.
Dropping by to point out how Greg says "Michelobo" at 17:47 and how happy that makes me.
I slowed it down to 50% playback and had a good chuckle.
“Michelabeaux” lmfao

I remember trying Whiteclaw for the first time, I got excited to try black cherry cause I love cherry flavor
It tasted like I took a bar of dial soap and just licked it.
The ONLY palletable Whiteclaw is raspberry, and even that is pushing the buck. Maybe tangerine, I don't remember tangerine being terrible but it doesn't stand out in my memory like raspberry
I had the opposite reaction. I usually enjoy raspberry but my body rejected raspberry white claw like it was arsenic
Whiteclaw surge is the only good whiteclaw lol
This is hands down my favorite episode so far.
When I watch how to drink,
I feel sophisticated.
Even more so as someone that doesn't drink, the New Vegas episode brought me in and for once I'm pleased with the algorithm
My friends and I had our own "beer festival" where we each brought 3-4 kinds of beer. We made a King's Cup with a splash of all the different beers -- we had a peanut butter stout, at least one sour, multiple ciders, German and Belgian beers, and several IPAs among other things. It honestly wasn't as bad as you would expect -- all the flavors kinda cancelled each other out
truly and white claw are the most popular where i live, and they’re the only ones i’ve tried. glad to see that it’s not my fault for thinking it’s nasty
One of the things I think you're running into with most of the big commercial ones is that they have to have a certain amount of malt to be sold alongside beer. You'll see the same thing with Mike's Hard Lemonade - in Canada, it's straight up vodka; no malt. Here in the States, it's got malt. Because of the beer lobby. Perhaps the niche ones are being sold in a different way? I don't know. Honestly, though, I'd like to see you make your own hard seltzer with a seltzer charger or a table-top seltzer thing. (It's what *I* would do.)
I think the reason that it gets sold as a malt rather than vodka is because some states in the US don’t allow liquor to be sold outside of a state regulated store called an ABC Store. If it’s a malt, you can buy it at Walmart. If it’s liquor based then you have to hope that your local ABC decides to stock it, and unfortunately they usually won’t.
Oh thank you! I was so confused with the talk of maltiness and with all the comparisons with ciders. I was questioning if I just taste nothing anymore. But they have to be a very different product where I am.
Yeah, it's a crazy quilt of laws but many more states allow beer to be sold in supermarkets than liquor. It's a shame because alcopops could be a fun category if they weren't all yeasty and gross. I wonder how White Claw and Mike's manage to sell in CA where they're on convenience store shelves next to the spirits-based stuff.
Thanks for this comment! I work in a liquor store in Canada and was honestly so confused what he was talking about about malt and beer when its straight vodka in our stores. I never would have known!!
My Dad says these seltzer kind of taste like flavored aquarium water. Having tasted a few of these brands myself, I can agree with that. XD
Tell Graduated Cylinder that I love him and that he should be on the show more often.
Imma have to check out that High Noon. I almost bought it the other day, but grabbed the Claw on sale instead.
I don't tend to drink em straight, my first time buying them I actually used a lemon lime hard seltzer as a sub for sprite in a mixed drink. Gave the drink the lemon lime and fizz without adding the syrupy sugariness with it. Highly recommended if you want your drink to pack an extra punch with less calories.
I don't know why but, every time Greg says "Fuck" it makes me laugh way harder than it probably should.
He seems like the type that would Censor himself but also like your happy-drunk uncle who pisses off his sister for cussing in front of her kids & goes “not like they ain’t heard it before” while the kids are laughing. he reminds me of every kind & personable man I’ve ever met irl who just also happens to like a drink, as well as my own uncle, & I love it
Was hoping you would do Cacti, made with agave.
The budlight seltzer is by far the worst in my opinion as well. High Noon is probably the best you buy at Walmart but it's a bit more expensive.
This is freaking awesome! HTD makes a living getting hammered! LOL You can see he is already feeling lit near the end haha!
Love that you included the Mas Agave from Founders! If you are gonna do a part 2, I would recommend Vizzy, Press, Topochico, and Bon & viv. I think that Press and Vizzy are two of the best seltzers out there right now.
Omg are you me? I came to the same conclusion! Every flavor of Vizzy is so good and I loved Press
I was surprised to not see Vizzy on this episode (maybe it’ll be in a part 2 with Topo Chico?) but loving the chaotic energy here!
Corona is easily the best of the ones I’ve had, and i didn’t see it :(
I want to see Four Loko Seltzer in part two.
He didn’t do coors seltzer’s either rip
Following recent marketing? I’ve gotten numerous Vizzy and Topo Chico ads for months.
Vizzy and Press are some of the best tasting ones. Topo Chico is tasty too
You know Greg is getting drunk when he starts yelling more than usual
I love how his reaction is getting more and more honest with every mouthful. it's cracking me up so hard.
Not only informative but had me cracking up a few times. Good one HTD guy! 🙌
Say what you will, but I really like the Truly lemonade "seltzers"
Its more lemonade than seltzer, and honestly just tastes like Hard Mike's. I don't even like seltzers anyway, so thats probably why I like it lol
I was thinking I wished he had tried truly lemonade box
IMO lemonade/lemon is one of the hardest flavors to fuck up just like grapefruit. Usually even if it’s a terrible seltzer the citrus flavors will taste the best
The punched ones they do are really good
The Ice Tea ones are honestly really good. The punch ones are 'truly' AWFUL. They taste like some awful off brand kool aid crammed with some sort of artificial sweetner.
@@chrisdewalt2489 I cannot disagree more about the punch ones. I almost threw the box I had away. The punch ones are just sooooo cloyingly artificially sweet. It tastes like someone mixed off brand kool aid with grain alcohol.
I work for a distributor that sells most of the major brands not owned by AB InBev and for my money, Press is the best I’ve had. I wasn’t a fan of hard seltzer until I was introduced to Press and they’ve since grown to be one of the biggest brands in my market, so I’m not alone in thinking it’s pretty damn good. Give them a shot if you can find them around your way.
I absolutely second this!
Amazing video. I could use a video like this for the non-alcoholic seltzer that is popular now, too.
I love this episode for no reason
I remember seeing your first old fashioned video 6 years ago, and I knew your channel was going to be big one day!
Many congrats, Greg; channel keeps being as superb as 6 years ago
Seeing your reaction the Bud Light Seltzers made me feel so validated. I was given a free can of passionfruit flavour for some sort of promo at a pub last weekend, and when I opened it I was overcome with an overwhelming smell of sweaty feet. Never again.
you were absolutely right about the High Noon w/ the Tajin. 10/10 would recommend
So this makes me want to re-explore hard seltzers. I’m a big fan of seltzer water and had written off hard seltzer because I’ve only tried the three that you were totally disgusting with. 😂
I have not laughed this hard in a long time. The Bud Light reaction made my month.
I love how aggressively insulting Greg is in this episode. Makes for great comedy and all of it is deserved. Analogies on point as usual.
Excellent episode, as usual!
Thank you for this episode! I laughed out loud repeatedly!
Greg caught that and cracked it open like Stone Cold crackin open a cold Stevewiser! Ya love to see it!
You also love to see the absolutely bungled catch one minute later 😂
Greg’s New Jersey-isms always find new ways to amuse me. “Asahi” is a Japanese beer, Açaí (pronounced “ah-sigh-ee”) is the berry he keeps attempting to refer to. Keep up the great work, Greg. We love you.
Whats funny to me about asahi is that its all brewed in italy so it isnt even japanese lol
Açai is pronounced ah-sah-ee if you want to get real technical with it
It's Ah-sigh?!? Ah-sah-ee!? I've been saying Akai the *whole* time! 🤯
Asahi means rising sun doesn’t it?
Absolutely loved the rant
Koppaberg hard seltzer is probably one of the best ones I ever tried. Really flavourful with no weird aftertaste.
Easily one of the best H2Ds ever-was basically cry-laughing at Greg saying "1000 liters"
Please make one on Sherry! It would be super helpful to have a guide going through all the types of sherry and maybe some cocktails they’d work in!
Cucumber is a perfectly good flavor profile. Love carbonated cucumber drinks personally, very refreshing.
The only seltzer I have enjoyed is a social club hard seltzer. They make a gimlet, old fashioned, and side car hard seltzer. The hard seltzer itself is a like a cocktail high ball. Honestly pretty amazing. just hard to find.
I love watching these types of videos because you can watch the progression in happiness, expressiveness, and of course alcoholic influence. Its just so good.
I've never seen Greg get so upset on an episode! Not even when he makes cursed cocktails
I think because those ones are almost intended to be bad, it's not as insulting when it hits your taste buds.
Seltzers just be like that. It's like if feeling slightly bothered was a drink. It's like if someone farted in a store-brand sprite. It's like ginger ale's depressing cousin.
@@pwojo9776 I love that whole comparison, too perfect
@@connergibson5930 I just don't like seltzer. I just never got the appeal. How do you make water taste bad? Like even when it's cold, I don't find it refreshing. Most people I know that like seltzer that doesn't have booze in it, they're over 50.
I really hope there’s a part 2 in the future. Would love to see Topo Chico, the brand that Arizona owns, and all the other Truly variants
Also press is one of my favorites in AZ
Also I gotta say I think the cucumber and lime one is a really refreshing drink
I’ve tried every hard seltzer I could find, and by far the best brand I found has been Press! Press can be hard to find but I recommend looking high and low for it. Press has ruined me for all other seltzer’s.
You're telling me Cantina Ranch Water doesn't taste like Ranch Dressing? Bummer... I wanted Cool Ranch Doritos in a can.
I'm glad he liked the Founders one, they're good. Shout out from Michigan.
The my little pony foot smelling reference is remarkably specific. In my mind it has to be similar to inside of rubber duck air
Savage Greg is hilarious ripping apart the bad brands
That's some Toss Me a Beer energy right there with that open.
Have you tried the WhistlePig Barrel Aged Rye Smash? It comes in three different flavors. Looks good but I haven’t tried it yet.
Keep up the great job sir I really enjoy the videos 🙌👊
I found out my energy drink company made hard seltzer too. I am not really an alcohol person in general, but i watch your ‘how to drink videos’ to get ideas of things to try if I ever feel like it.
Your final product, Greg, reminds me of "tub parties" I used to host in my 20's: like a potluck dinner, but guests bring a libation of their choice and it goes in the Tub (not the bathtub, don't worry). Host adds citrus , juice, ice and seltzer and the drinks are doled out from there. The description of the HTD Party Drink sounds like 98% of final product from the Tub!
In my experience, you don’t drink White Claws for the taste, you drink them to have something light and refreshing that also gets you drunk. Also, I’m a college student so my palate is not very well “developed” yet.
They could accomplish that without tasting like shit
My favorites are High Noon and Truly Passion Fruit. I’m glad to see passion fruit getting some love, the White Claw one is alright.
glad my love of grapefruit high noons are affirmed. It’s so perfect as a seltzer goes.
Being from Texas, it was neat hearing you mention the Topo Chico, though to be honest my biggest surprise of the hard seltzer world down here has been Lone Star agave lime seltzer.
Totally want to try a couple of the ones you show here though.
This might be my favorite episode yet lmao the progressive drunkenness
Same. I'm only halfway through at this point and he's already noticeably tipsy, which i find hilarious.
Ya what happened to the spit bucket?
Wish you could have reviewed press and pabst blue ribbons sceltsor as well. Rehardless, loved the vid!
