The news that Rustem has got attacked comes into the palace like a bombshell. As everyone believes that Rustem is dead, he comes to the palace and awaitad marriage comes true. Suleiman lets Rustem in the council.
As Rustem enjoys the euphoria of victory, Mihrimah wears sackcloth and ashes. The tension between Lutfi Pasha and Rustem rises even more. Rustem goes on playing Suleiman againts Mustafa while Lutfi Pasha tries to send Prince Mehmet to the sanjak. Hurrem wants something from Rustem which shocks him. An enemy who returns to the capital summons up the courage and makes a move which hits Rustem in his soft spot. As everyone thinks that Rustem is dead, Rustem walks into the palace. Suleiman declares his son-in-law is the Kubbealtı Vizier. Rustem is about to get together with Sultana Mihrimah whom he has been dreaming of. However, Mihrimah has her heart go out to Malkocoglu. The circumcision feast of the princes and Mihrimah's wedding gets held at the same time. Mihrimah gets shocked because of the thing Rustem Pasha does at the wedding night. She sees that Rustem's love is real for the first time. As Grand Vizier Lutfi Pasha conducts raids to the taverns, Sultana Sah tries to send Prince Mehmet to the sanjak. This is how Hurrem will leave the palace. Meanwhile, Rustem goes on playing Suleiman against Mustafa. Hurrem tries to prevent the decision about sanjak and gives a difficult task to Rustem; her own son will be sent to Manisa. Sultana Sah watches Rustem closely. She follows every step he takes. The plan that will provide her to get rid of Rustem comes from someone unexpected. However, the person she trusts turns into a big treat that she can't even imagine.
At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

In truth, all these women were victims of a powerful male. Gulfem, lost 2 children and had to humble herself as she waa cast aside for Mahidevran who fell in love and then she too was cast aside. Hurrem has to constantly fight to keep her position. When it came down to it, they were all property of the Sultan. And frankly all were treated as brood mares, breed reproduce then move on....
The entirety of history...women were brood mares...ah, how lovely it is to be a women indeed...

I feel bad for all those women who suffered in history. Just take the Ottoman Empire, the girls were kidnapped from their homes, forced in a harem they never wanted to be a part of, forced to adapt, learn dance musics and other....seduction skills...which must've felt humiliating...then fight other women to be on the Sultan's bed...the only way to survive and live a comfortable life if a son was produced...

@@fictionlover695 They were not kidnapped from homes. They were brought from battle fields. If they weren't taken, they would be kidnapped by bandits and sold to brothels. The Sultan had the right to kill them as they were from the enemies' sides. He didn't and chose to bring them as slaves. And in what kind of oppressive environment do slaves become sultanas, grand viziers of an empire? The slaves wanted to get into Harem. Because there was hope to change their status and become part of royalty. These people did not work for free. They did not have families. Anyone could easily kidnap and traffick them. The sultan brought them in and gave them jobs. And who told you they were taught dance, music and SEDUCTION SKILLS? They were taught about science, history and arts of the country. Music and dance were learnt by men too. They were specifically taught to stay away from using such "seduction skills".These were considered to be vulgar. They did not do such things mentioned in the show. Nobody ever even saw these sultanas. Unrelated men weren't allowed to enter Harem. The pashas in the show are shown to be drinking at brothels often. This was illegal and they would be punished if found. Like tell me you know nothing about ottoman history without telling me about ottoman history.

Not necessarily. A friend of mine wanted so much to have a daughter. So did her husband. She had three sons and they drove her crazy. She said she couldn't stand having any more boys, but because she wanted a daughter she would try for another baby girl. Well she got pregnant with twin boys. I had never seen her so mad when she found out. She still is a good mother to her sons, but she definitely envies my beautiful daughters.

Shah had it right unfortunately. Hatice's words shouldn't even be listened to. She knew what it was to be married off too, it happened already to her and it was almost done again until she got her way and got to marry Ibrahim. But they were both spoiled children, used to getting what they wanted from the Sultan and got greedy. Unfortunately, women of high standing really didn't get a choice, it was about political power and alliances, not love. Also, don't forget, Hurrem went to Bali Bey first. She tried, but seeing the other sultanas trying to manipulate the situation, she had to act. If it wouldn't have been Rustem, it would have been someone else, so Shah and the gang are hypocrites. They wouldn't have cared if it had been someone of THEIR choosing marrying the poor girl, they were all blinded in their quest to stick it to Hurrem.

don't talk about the history if you haven't read it. Mihrimah Sultan and Rustem Pasha lived happily, and fell in love with each other, it was a marriage with love (a real historical fact)
and Selim was a good sultan, if you read at least a line of his biography. Better than anyone who ruled after him. Under him, the empire flourished, and he was merciful, he did not execute a single person during his reign.

Mahidevran took place of gulfem.. hurrem took place of mahidevran. Mahidevran played with help of ibrahim to get of hurrem and her sons. Hurrem got into power she played with rustem to get rid of mustafa to save lives of her 4 son. Mihirma married to rustem wasnt it fr survival? If mustafa became sultan he would have got rid of all his competitors ehat do u think mihirma would have lived like pricess after that?? Or thrown to old palace like maids to live..

Isolation isn't healthy, in the end he was left with only Hurrem, without opinions of others who were close to him and you saw what happened when she died, he couldn't recover.
