Maybe it's just me, but I swear I'm always so exhausted on a full moon, so I usually do no magic and just go to bed early that night, but on new moons I feel a lot more energy to clean, reset, set intentions for the next moon cycle 🌑
Were you born during the day or the night? This will have a lot of bearing on why you feel this way. But it also depends on whether the sun or the moon is your predominator planet. For example, if you're one of those people who do not connect very much with your sun sign, then chances are you'll connect more with your moon sign. However, if neither the sun or the moon is your predominator, then again chances are you'll connect more with your ascending sign.
P.S. The sun sign of a person is not what rules over a person's life. This is a common misconception and a misunderstanding propagated by modern astrology. The sun sign is just a person's psychology and nothing more than that. This is why when you read a sun sign horoscope it's usually a hit or a miss depending on where the eastern horizon was on any particular day. The moon is a person's soul, which the same is true considering the horizon and moon sign horoscopes. And the ascending is a person's personality, and is again depending on the horizon for the day. All horoscopes are dependent on the ascending sign of the day which comes from classical astrology and not modern astrology. Modern astrology is more concerned about your psychology whereas classical astrology is more concerned about who you are as a person and predicting your life. And this is why in classical astrology the ascending sign is number one, not the sun, and then comes the moon, mercury, venus, and then finally the sun in your chart. But your predominator planet points to your Ruling Planet which also happens to be your Master Planet and the Master Planet points to your Co-Master Planet. The Master Planet and the Co-Master Planet are the Masters of your nativity and they rule completely and entirely over your natal chart which means they rule completely and entirely over your life. They quite literally dictate what everything else in your chart means. Think of them as the Pilot and Co-Pilot of your life.
Classical Astrology List of Importance From Greatest to Least:
1. Ascending Sign (i.e. this is who you are and how you portray yourself to everyone around you)
2. Moon Sign (i.e. this is your soul, the kind of energy you have, and the kind of emotions you have)
3. Mercury Sign (i.e. this is how you communicate, how you plan and why you travel, and what kind of luck you'll have)
4. Venus Sign (i.e. the kind of family and friends and relationships you'll have both good, bad, and in between)
5. Sun Sign (i.e. this is your psychology, the kind of imagination you have, and the kind of spirituality you have)
6. Mars Sign (i.e. it is how and why you start projects and what drives you, where and when you get angry, but is also your passion and sex)
7. Jupiter Sign (i.e. how you grow, explore, and learn, but also what kind of career you'll have and what your finances will be like)
8. Saturn Sign (i.e. the boundaries, limitations, and restrictions you'll face in your life, but also the kind of karma you'll have)
As an example the First House of your chart is always your Ascending Sign in classical astrology, and across from that, is the Seventh House your Descending Sign which is your personal House of Love and Enemies. The person with the same Ascending Sign as your Descending Sign in your House of Love (i.e. your Seventh House) is the person/people you're most likely attracted to the most for love, for example. But also the same kind of people you'll most likely clash with if their chart doesn't fit well with yours. It's to be expected to clash with a lot of these people because it's also your House of Enemies, but don't completely write all of them off, because somewhere in the sea of them is your one true love.
@@wanderinghedge I was born around 5am, so I guess right at the crack of dawn! I believe it was a full moon that day as well.
I've always connected pretty strongly with my sun sign (Pisces) but once I learned about the rest of my chart and what everything represented, it also made sense! That is so true about horoscopes, it definitely feels hit or miss most of the time.
@@laurenmichele6806 If you're a Pisces, then chances are at the time of your birth being 5am, the sun had not yet risen. However, this makes a lot of sense, because your sun is in an angular house and it's the one that is furthest to the east in your chart most likely. You naturally follow the rhythms of the moon. But you also connect heavily with your Sun Sign, Pisces.
What I said above doesn't always apply, because some people are known to connect with the opposite of their predominator, more so then the other. It depends a lot on the rest of your chart as you probably would already know. But the fact you were born before the sun had risen explains a lot because that means you have a night time chart and you feel the pull of the moon more than the sun and that's why you're more drawn to the dark moon. I understand completely because I'm a night time chart as well, born at 12:04 in the morning, Libra Ascending, Virgo Waning Gibbous Moon, and Capricorn Sun in the 2nd decan. My Master Planet is Saturn because my sun is in an angular house for my chart, and my Saturn is in Sagittarius in the 3rd decan and 5th Egyptian term, which means Mars is my Co-Master. My moon is in a declination house and therefore gives up the right to be my predominator planet even though I have a night time chart. I too connect quite heavily with my Sun Sign though I'm drawn to be a night owl and my life revolves around the cycles of the moon rather than the cycles of the sun.
However, you being born at 5am, means that your Ascending Sign is also Pisces if your Sun Sign is Pisces. Classical astrology uses whole signs rather than equal signs or quadrant signs or something else. Therefore, it also doesn't have any cusps, and instead relies upon the decan system. Each sign has three decans, each representing 10 degrees throughout a sign, in a total of 30 degrees as per usual. In classical astrology, you're also ruled by the planet Jupiter, rather than Neptune in modern astrology. And I'm intuitively assuming you're probably somewhere in the 2nd decan of Pisces. This makes the Moon your "cusp" so to speak for some modern terminology and for you to have a better idea of what the moon is doing. And if you're not in the 2nd decan of Pisces, then you're more then likely in the 3rd decan of Pisces, which places you to have a "cusp" of the planet Mars. In classical astrology, Jupiter is the docimile planet in the 1st decan of Pisces, the 2nd decan is ruled first by Jupiter and then the Moon, and the 3rd decan is ruled first by Jupiter and then Mars. The Master of your nativity, regardless of anything else is Jupiter, because your sun is in the first angular house of your chart. Find where Jupiter is in your chart, then find the Egyptian Term it's in, and there in the Egyptian Term you will know what planet is your Co-Master Planet.
But, you're probably quite the explorative type of person, that loves to know the secrets and the wonder of the world. Across from your Ascending Sign, is your House of Love, but it's also your House of Enemies. Yes, it's Gemini. You probably often times feel pulled in many directions by them which makes it hard for you to decide on whether you like them or not. Tricky, tricky, Gemini, they often times judge you upon meeting you as they do with most people, and most of them you find act as if they're your best friend to your face even though they don't like you from the moment they meet you. Don't worry, they didn't like you from the start so there's not much to like about them either, but there are some out there that are probably quite fond of you.

I know just enough about astrology to have a basic understanding of my chart, but it's always great to hear from folks who are really knowledgeable on the subject :) It's interesting you said that my Ascending Sign is also Pisces, because any birth chart I've ever generated has always put my Ascendant in Aquarius, but I wonder if that placement depends on the "type" of astrology, so to speak? (You mentioned classical astrology which I know very little about)
@@laurenmichele6806 P.S. Even just 70 to 100 years ago, when someone asked what your sign was, you would have given your Ascending Sign rather than your Sun Sign. After that you would have given your Moon Sign. And the reason for that is because of how important the Ascending Sign is in astrology. It quite literally is who you are and how you portray yourself to others.
This is how I’ve always celebrated the new moon! With setting intentions and letting go, that is. Thank you for this video! This is a pretty large part of my practice that weirdly, no one else I’m following seems to share much of their experiences on? It was nice to see it! I’m super elemental so I usually incorporate a small activity for each element into my day on the full and new moons- nothing big, it might be something as small as changing my yoga routine (earth) or journaling (water). I like to use them for small self-care days.
This may be a practice/ideology done by lots of low spoon witches already, but for those who may not know:
the new moon and full moon can be observed for three days. The day before it's peak, the day the moon peaks at full visibility/full darkness, and the day after. You won't loose the power of these positions/phases by doing a spell the day before or after the moon's peak, and that way, you can plan a bit better around your energy/pain management/schedule etc.
I hope this helps someone like it helped me when I first learned of this practice of observing the moon.

I always remember it by "Wax on & wan off". lol I am typically very tired during the Full Moon. So I spend those usually taking a nice herbal bath for cleansing/healing/whatever I need at the time. I'll sip on some tea & pray the rosary. Sometimes I'll pray with a specific intention. But mostly I pray it as an offering to Mother Mary for answered prayers or to just simply venerate her. I keep it low key and simple. Sometimes I nap and nothing else. lmao New Moons I typically have a lot of energy & will clean, cleanse, set intentions, manifest & do spell work/Novenas. Thanks for posting this video. I love learning how other folk witches practice during the different phases of the Moon. :)
I love your take on the lunar cycle. I am new-ish in my practicing and the usual takes on the moon always felt off to me. I much prefer looking and the Waxing cycle as a place to grow things and the Waning cycle as a place to diminish. I really like the full moon for protection work, almost using it as the balance between bringing in the good and pushing out the bad. And I LOVE using the banishing moon for stuff like getting rid of anxiety and things I'm holding onto that I shouldn't be.
I really want to thank you for helping me grow on in my craft. As a fellow eclectic witch (I don't go by pagan because I believe labels religious wise is weird because I am more spiritual than religious) you speak out to me and my neuro divergent self and help me so much. I've always tried to keep my haircuts/trims a few days after the new moon to make it grow faster. The pandemic has been a huge disruption in that, but I found it to get length faster personally.

I've been a witch sense the early 90's, I never bothered with making sure I did things on the right lunar or planetary cycle. I just did witchcraft when I needed it. reactionary magick if you will. Now that I am older I want to enrich my practice. so I am now trying to find daily stuff to add and to put more thought and planning into my magick. for example what you said about focusing on what you want to draw in for the next cycle. thank you for this video, it gave me things to contemplate. which was really needed. 💖
It's interesting how people can look at the lunar cycles differently. For me, the new moon is a beginning - holding all possibilities. I am personally much more aligned with the dark moon/ eclipses in my practices and much less to the full moon. I think those aspects have a lot to do with the majority of my work being in transformational magic. I agree with working through a cycle instead of just one day. I think it goes deeper when you do. The moon has kinda been a reminder of my body going thru it’s own hormone cycles and how to do self care for each “season” or phase. :) it’s cool how nature can be such a helpful teacher 😊 thank you for sharing your thoughts on new moon work

For me, I tend to work with the waxing half and the waning half of the lunar cycle. I have found that expecting me to do something specific on one day just isn’t realistic, like, energy-wise, and just life-wise.
I don’t always feel like I have to use the lunar cycle, but when I’m doing a long-term working I prefer it (at least right now).
I always do my stuff on the new moon and rest on the full moon. It also makes sense to manifest on the new moon and watch it grow during the moon cycle
Working with moon phrases is new to me but makes sense since I have been more and more aware of my emotional cycles coinciding with them, I've been a bit lazy with developing a practice and instead been focused on shadow work and learning all the things I was forbidden from learning growing up.
I appreciate your insights and willingness to share them, it helps immensely with my own self acceptance and inspiration about what to explore next. 🦄
tbh i agree with the thing about eclipses being powerful! for me, it's because of the gravitational lensing that can be demonstrated, magnifying not just light, but also energy!!!

Thank you for such a wonderful video. I always feel so drained on a full moon and I use that time to rest and rejuvenate and I always feel inspired and motivated on the new moon so I use that time to cleanse and set intentions.

I separate the lunar phases a bit differently. The dark moon (when you can't see the moon at all) is banishing, protective, divininatory, etc. The day after, when you can see just a sliver of the moon sometimes up to 3 days after the dark moon is the new moon for me. And I do absolutely begin things on the new moon. I am planting the last little herbs in my garden for the year tomorrow (its still hot in northern California *sob*).

What you call the New moon is the dark of the moon and the new moon is when you see a sliver of the moon (thus new)... I do enjoy your videos.... I always learn something new when I watch them

I haven't really witched in years due to some serious issues, however, when I do witch through moon cycles, I tend to work to grow into bursts.
For me, the new moon begins. I begin things on the new moon, to let them burst into fullness on their own at the full moon. The full is a bit of a break, and then the next day begins my ending cycle. Anything that needs to be compressed, slid off, banished, or broken through.
Unless I'm working something intensely, I let the spells run their own course, and simply monitor the results. ^_^

BTW I have two huge pic's that seem to be a type of painting of the two ppl who came HERE frm Ireland, the pic's are several generations BCK and U can actually SEE the similar features in OUR faces compared to the woman in the painting's, it's sooo cool to see!! However they are so old nobody really knows how to preserve them due to NOT knowing what type of medium was used to create them..... Hey Frankie! I’m thinking about doing a new moon ritual to bring my lost tortoise home,I’m not sure how I can go about that as I cannot use fire! So no candles etc,That being said how do you expand your rituals too last till the new moon too the full moon,Do you add energy or contribute too the spell every day? I’ve never done a ritual this long but this is extremely important too me and time sensitive !
