    Excellent video, Jon! Big fan of AIC, Cantrell, York Audio, and the Placater in the Helix...*however*, does anyone else have noise issues with this amp model? For me, it seems more susceptible to pickup noise (even with humbuckers and proper shielding) than any of the other high gain amps. It's pretty much the only amp model with which I feel compelled to use a noise gate...kinda weird.

    Hi Jon! Do you know the instrumental (prog) rock band Intervals? I believe the guitarrist Aaron Marshall uses and has used in the past either real Friedman or Axe Fx Friedman models - maybe it could be an interesting example to use as a comparison between a real/helix/axe fx BE100 models? Cheers and thanks for these videos!

  • @TheMasamir
    @TheMasamir 2 года назад

    I recently bought the BE-100 Deluxe and sent it right back. The clean/Plexi channel is amazing and I would have kept the amp for that channel alone but not for that preimum price. The BE/HBE channels are amazing for classic rock, hard rock and D tuned guitars, but struggles with anything lower than that IMO or maybe I am just used to tight gain like ENGL or MESA mark series. I didn't want to put an OD infront of a premium amp cause I just don't like the idea (Cause I would rather get a cheaper amp that can offer more tight gain and you have the option of an OD if you really need it).
    Maybe it was just me but all of this talk about being the best amp on planet earth is nonsense IMO cause it excels at what it can do tone wise but not that versatile. One more thing the EQ only does so little to the overall tone. Great video, like always! :)

    • @SonicDriveStudio
      @SonicDriveStudio  2 года назад +2

      I hear ya. They seem like amazing amps for what they are but this mini JJ is more than enough for me. Sounds great and is more affordable!

    • @davel_ggw
      @davel_ggw 2 года назад +3

      To be fair, the BE100 Deluxe is pure modded Marshall. Which, isn't really ever going to be the first choice for super tight low downtuned stuff. The number of songs recorded using Marshall amps is huge, and that amp can cover just about any Marshall tone that has ever been recorded quite well.
      As far as not using an OD/boost, that's doing nothing but limiting yourself for no reason. If you want low and tight with a Marshall, you kind of have to. It's not like you would be using the drive, it's only for the EQ shaping and level boost. Something like a Friedman Buxom Boost, Pettyjohn Lift, or even just an EQ pedal, would be perfect to tighten up the low end.
