Dude much respect for getting into the deeper cuts and your dope analysis from a musicians perspective. I’ve watched all 58 RHCP ones and they dont get old
Cool video as always brotha. For context this song was a B-Side (probably because it’s not a very cohesive song) from the 1999 Californication album. Ps: you pronounced it right👍 😂
Sorry Dave, but I click like before I even start your videos! But, of course, I watch the whole thing! 😁❤️🔥🌶️ Thanks for the reaction! I'd forgotten that I requested this. Tried to forget most of last year! ❤️
Song means so much to me I was in a relationship with someone where we both had serious problems listening to this brings me back there but not in a bad way.
Man, I am familiar with this song for bout 10 years and I've always feel the same way about the outro. I mean it is great, but the slow tempo part and the previous chord progression is so great that I just never want it to end! Fortunately the outro does not screw the whole song, it just make you break the groove verse vibe and we never want it to end. About the drumming, I love the ghost notes too! This Velvet Glove, Stadium Arcadium, Californication, Otherside, Save the Population, Desecration Smile and We believe are examples of other songs where chad does something Similar. The Snare Chad uses is made for the ghost notes to shine. It has thicker wires than usually and a tuning style that enriches the snare attack.
Love this song on top of what you said I really love the guitar tone on this song .. I think it’s played with your fingers half resting on the frets which I think is a cool way to achieve a unique tone. I don’t know if you’re a Korn fan already but if not you gotta check out their stuff. The rhythm section is amazing imo. “Freak on a leash” is the obvious starting point.
My requests: You should listen to "Outer Space" and "Kaly" from "The Getaway" outtakes, "It's Only Natural" and "Whatchu Thinkin" from "Unlimited Love", and other "Cali-era" b-sides like "Over Funk", "Bunker Hill", "Tellin a Lie", "Trouble In a Pub"
Genuinely nervous to watch h this as this special special track has my heart in-perpetuity - Can’t blv it’s been done already but I guess I missed it & I pro. Shouldn’t be surprised, despite being a non-album B-Side (criminally) it’s a TRUE Chili’s fan favourite, without doubt! Back to the nervousness.. oh Dave pls like itttt ahahaha
But thank you for doing it. You’re a bloody legend & im loving seeing your progression as a RHCP hater to ‘liker’ - Chad is a god, ghost-note madman u need to watch him on drumeo, true greatness & humility
Well, Dave, you DID pronounce it the same as Anthony does. However - to be annoyingly pedantic - the correct pronunciation for the adjective "quixotic" is with a silent X, as in Don Quixote, the character from the Cervantez novel. The word means to be impractical or unreasonably idealistic, which is what the elixer in the song is designed to cure.
Such a great song. Should listen to 'Save The Population' by RHCP. Has some good harmonics and a great tempo. Thanks for the videos!
Seconded!
++++++++++
Yep!!
Agreed! One of my favorite RHCP songs, the ending is just pure magic IMO, especially if you isolate the vocals.
It's one of the only songs I know of that uses rounds besides Row Row Row Your Boat, lol. It fucking slaps too!

Liked and subbed before started watching but I have now retracted them until the end, thank you for reacting to this masterpiece
Cool video as always brotha.

Ps: you pronounced it right👍 😂
@anyway96 I agree and then you remember that Porcelain entered the album
One of my fav b-sides, pretty fair score, its such a simple but tasteful song
In the song "We Believe" by RHCP you can hear Frusciante's beautiful vocals work, I recommend it as a response

Love this one, it's actually a "bonus track" from this album 👌
Edit: yes, you pronounced it right

very good song you would have to react to she's only 18 live in chorzów 2007 it is a great live version
😂 the fans love RHCP they definitely feeling them 👍
I would love if you did another b-side called Body Of Water. It's very different from their usual sound
Still waiting on C'mon Girl live Abbey Studio 2006 🥺 That's is hardest bassline to played, Flea said it himself
Been waiting for this one! Legend 🤘

Their 2011 album sounds a lot like this. I sort of checked out around Californication. Think I was really into The Doors at the time.
I always found this song fun to listen to. Also love that DH missed a cut in this one!
Would love for you to react to “the heavy wing” from their new album !
Yes you said it right. The song is a nice jam. 🤘
The tempo change is crazy

Love all the chili pepper reactions. Any chance on doing any new ones? Off their 2 new albums this year
No one has requested any of the new songs yet on the Patreon page.
Good review good song 🙏🏼
I don't like the ending, double time part. It feels tacked on but I love the beginning
You can hear the Jane’s Addiction influence on the outro

Please do a reaction of "Heart of Gold" by Johnny Cash featuring John Frusciante, Flea and Chad Smith
Was 2:38-3:24 meant to be edited out?? Lol
Yes, I made a mistake, I'm human.
Good
Not a bad tune, but understandable that it's a b-side. Not one that I listen to a lot.
Still waiting on Monarchy of roses :(
👍👍👍👍👍
Fight like a brave do it
Should do Save the Population

Very good, REACT THE THE GATEWAY ALBUM WITH JOSH KLINGHOFFER
One day you're gonna leave something really embarrassing in by not editing the video fully
What do you suggest?
Not a very interesting song.
One of the best b-sides songs from RHCP
