Those were Red Hot Chili Peppers at their prime. Love that era and that DVD (2000 Californication USA Tour), even more than Slane Castle. Despite Kiedis addictions issues, they knew how to deal with it and give a great show during those years. Also they were younger. Greetings, David.
Yeeeeaaaahhhhhh booooooiiiiii!! One of the greatest performances of this song imo. Everyone talks about slane castle but I think off the map is just as great. Such a fun song to play/listen to.
Their show at Olympia is probably the most energetic performance I've ever seen. Particularly John. He goes OFF! the whole show. But, the first few years after he returned from his drug hell, he was just pumped to be back. Probably just so grateful that he managed to turn around one of the worst drug problems you're likely to see.
Well I heard this one live in Porto Alegre - Brazil, last year, they are in their 60's except for John and they sound SO FUCKING GOOD, so glad I was there. Watched all the playlist, love your job and yes this all puts a smile in my face. Can't wait for more reactions.
For me crowd interaction definetely isn’t amongst the most important things, because it shouldn’t be done for every song a band plays. Only for the most well known or suitable songs. I’ve been at concerts where bands do crowd interactions constantly and it gets a bit annoying. And normally the bulk of chili peppers crowd interaction is in between songs. Great reaction tho!
Let me tell you, I purchased this album when it came out in Sept 1991. I was 16. I’m now 48. This was always my favorite song of theirs. I’ve listened to this song over the last 32 years, I’d have to estimate somewhere between 750-1000 times. EVERY SINGLE TIME John hits that first chord of the guitar outro, my throat tightens up & my breaths get shorter. I probably said this on your reaction to the original but I truly believe the last 3 minutes of this song is the most beautiful thing a rock band has ever written. I love the whole song obviously but the guitar outro is just a miracle of music. Great reaction DH!

Great reaction! Tnx! I’m a big fan of this live version
Surprisingly, the studio version was 8 minutes and 16 seconds.

You know it’s good when Dave loses track of time for over 4 1/2 minutes! You better be careful, you just might turn into an RHCP fan too!
You are a musician from the United States and is this the first time you have heard that song? you lack rock friend
