    I wonder if the Sennheiser kit that you got might be defective or something? I've been speaking at hundreds of conferences in the last 10 years, and the vast majority of the time (I'd say 90-99% of the time), the A/V team equips me with a Sennheiser kit - and I don't remember ever having any issues. (I can't tell for sure if your model is similar to the ones I've been using, though!)
    And that's at tech conferences - where the room is full of hundreds of people with phones and laptops and making heavy use of the WiFi (i.e. not the cleanest environment as far as radio is concerned).
    Meanwhile, I'm a huge fan of the RØDE and DJI systems myself. I use them for my home office as well as to record and deliver live online courses, and like you described, I never had any issues with them in that environment. In fact, the charging system of the DJI kit is so convenient, that I even use it for video calls (I just take 5 seconds to grab and clip one of the mics at the beginning of the call). However, I've experienced issues with them in "busy" wireless environments: in an office building in Paris with dozens of wireless networks in range, sounds came out garbled (with the same kit that worked perfectly in my office).
    I wonder what other folks experiences have been?

    @Ickhart Год назад +4

    I find myself hard to recommend 2.4 systems besides convenience and price with how useful uhf is like sennheiser. I do sound professionally and its the bare minimum standard in a film set.
    Adjusting the squelch, keeping antenna straight, coordinating frequencies with multiple units, being able mod the antenna to use SMA antennas to increase range or even bowties/fins. There’s plenty of ways of why its reliable.
    A lot of sound mixers would recommend trying to go for lectrosonics or wisycom but that’s usually out of plenty of people’s price range for a quality sound product.

    • @henryfield2153
      @henryfield2153 Год назад +2

      I completely agree - having worked in the live theatre industry these sennheiser packs are the standard, it takes more work to set them up and mix them but when you do they are almost bulletproof and much more reliable than the (admittedly more convenient) 2.4 prosumer kits

      @brianpark2564 Год назад

      @Fstoppers yeah, we shoot in studio sometimes on location but the good thing about SENNHEISER is you can choose the different operating frequencies of the system

    • @FStoppers
      @FStoppers  Год назад

      @@brianpark2564 Yes, we have 2 sets of these G3s and I think a set or two of the previous ones (G2 was it?). Anyways, we constantly scan the channels for the best frequency to use and it works most of the time but sometimes we get static still. Another thing that drives me crazy is the locking mic connection seems good in theory but it also introduces a ton of static. We can often bump or twist the metal locking collar and get tons of noise. If the transmitter is in a pocket or jacket it often gets bumped and causes this crackling sound. Again, it's over the course of 3-4 sets and 3-4 mics connected to them.
      That said, Lee didn't mention it (maybe he hasn't experienced it) but I've had the mics pull out of the Rode Go transmitters and lose audio altogether. I wish they had a way to lock the mic in the 3.5 slot better but this has happened to me a few times now. -P

      @@TheFPSChannel interesting. I always suspected it had to do with the antenna orientation. I've read you want the antenna to be pointed up and not off to the side and def not forward like they do when you mount them on the hotshoe with the Sennheisser hotshoe adapter mount (face palm). Other users and my self are having an audio drift issue with the DJI Mics every 30 secs or so the internal recording skips so over the course of a long video the audio drifts and will have almost a 15 sec gap by the end of an hour.
    This is only for the internal recording (audio transmitted to the camera/rx doesn’t have this issue but that also defeats the point for us to have a good bit rate audio.
    This is a random hard ware issue and it’s hit or miss we’ve had it with call 4 out of 4 units so far.

    Probably You havent used Rode Wireless II enough - we have many sets of them in TV and its a constant pain - clicking sounds, static from lavaliers, internal recordings splitted in many files (usually length 30 min34sec, but sometimes easily can be up to 2h while other mic with same settings can record whatever length in one file), other software problems (including corrupted recordings) - its just things that happen EVERY SINGLE TIME you use them. Very unreliable. And Yes, battery life after a year of use gets just bad. Rode probably make good microphones, but terrible electronics.
