if you watch closely on the up right, you can see the cuphead logo and his name and below that it says "deal whit the devil"
The fact that this song literally opens up with The Devil *Dead In His Chair* really sets the tone and informs the player of just what kind of hell they got themselves into. Absolutely incredible stuff

Same. The other ones straight up stretch into unfair territory unlike this one. It’s still really difficult don’t get me wrong but it’s still actually fun and has mechanics that I can actually deal with. Also I do worse on the two other nightmare songs because no offense to the composers but those two songs are just awful to listen to unlike this banger.

Edit two: I beat them all finally. I literally had to use a glitch where the screen would zoom out by far so I could see the notes from further away.
@@ReaperPeeper for me it isn't exactly all of that, I just had a bit of a skill issue. Especially on Bad Time 'cuz I couldn't control myself from dodging when it tried to trick me into it. Doesn't help when it's randomized, too. I've beaten all the Nightmare songs, and they're all really. Devil's Gambit is definitely the easiest though.

Definitely the easiest out of the three nightmare songs, and it's fine as it is. The reason why is because his mechanics doesn't allow him to just one shot you that often since only his fireballs one shot you and nothing else. There's also enough double parry notes where you can always have a card ready for when he attacks. It might be a bug but the sound effect for his fireball attack starts before his animation which made readying for the one shots that much easier since there's no other sign for when he actually does it other than you having to memorize all the times he does.
once he fires, you die whether you dodge it mid-flight or not. so it's intended to make it more fair.
I just spam space to dodge, but its a disadvantage if I am trying to FC/MFC it unless I got used to it.

There kinda is a indication for a fireballs, cupheads finger show a red spark right before he is about to throw fireball, very hard to see however

I just noticed that in the top right corner it says "Deal with the Devil" but in the other Cuphead songs it says "Don't deal with the devil" which means that this Cuphead accepted the deal with the devil but it could also mean that it was a speedrunner which would explain why he only has the starting shot

I'll be honest, most of this comment was cringe, but that "He's gonna make you pay the devil's gambit" part is good
The fact that it's hard as B A L L S to survive half of this song alongside the fact that the song is only 2 minutes long really tells you all you need to know about it's difficulty.
And that's with normal difficulty mechanics mind you.
(Still, definitely the easiest of the nightmare songs.)

@@AQ_ChristianZ I agree wholly with you now that I've beaten it myself, and several times at this point too. It’s unbelievably easy once you memorize the dodge timings.
Also, my best score for this song literally happens to be 173737. (I'm not making this up in the slightest.) There are already three 7's in that score alone, but the other numbers added up are 1+3+3= another 7, meaning I have played the Devil's Gambit and won with QUADRUPLE 7'S. This is literally the perfect in-canon score to achieve for this song. (In other words, hell yeah I dealt with the devil and boy did he not stand a chance.)

before the update, this was the only good Nightmare song gameplay-wise. the mechanics actually felt fair while still being difficult
thankfully the update came out and nerfed Bendy's and Sans' mechanics. Despair is still easily the absolute WORST Nightmare song by far, but the update made Bad Time actually feel fair. Devil's Gambit definitely still holds the crown for having the best gameplay in my opinion tho.

Cuphead may be the Dumb Less Sensible Older Brother than his Younger Brother Mugman, But this Song Really Captures that even if he's Not The Smartest he is Very Capable at times☕☄

The demonic palace of the devil shines a unnatural bright magenta color, as you never seen it before with the red portal you've kept being sent through. There you find the devil's corpse laying dead on his throne, hearing footstep you turn around to see cuphead, however he shines the same magenta color that dulls the room. As his eyes stare into your soul, you realize; That's not cuphead, instead, he's out to really kill you now. Now Boyfriend, Get ready, because *A brawl sure is about to start brewin'*

devils gambit can mean devils sacrifice, so maybe the devil sacrificed his power and soul to cuphead after he was defeated by BF, so in turn cuphead now has the combined power of himself AND the devil, which means he is ULTRA powerful
edit: just noticed the cuphead thing says Deal With The Devil, so maybe this is where cuphead decided to strike up a deal with the devil after losing to BF
This song is my favorite out of all nightmare songs, hands down. First off, the atmosphere is top notch and the best of all nightmare songs, in my opinion. Nightmare Cuphead has my favorite design out of them all as well, it's simplistic but also get's the message across that this Cuphead is far more dangerous than how we usually see him(also I like his color pallet the most so yea). And last but certainly not least, the song, if you are on this video, you are most likely hearing this song on repeat for an hour like me. Also seeing the cutscene for this song that MØRO made really made me fall in love with this song even more, I could go without the skull face but that's just a minor nitpick. Overall 10/10 song
