    Being able to recolor the lights is so nice, because they are SO stark white. I always warm up the colour, and sometimes lower the intensity. I have some very low, low intensity little light bulbs that I've been hiding inside trees in my exhibits. They still work and they light up the enclosure without there being visible lamps.

    It's crazy to think how long ago this game began devlopment.
    It broke the mold for so many of these games. After The Stomping Lands, Mesozoica, and all that, Prehistoric Kingdom zoned all of that drama out, stayed focused, and delivered on a long-awaited project that a lot of people forgot about until they released that ballor trailer.
    And to top it all off, they treated their future playerbase to Nigel Marvin, something none of us could have ever imagined.
    Prehistoric Kingdom is a testament to good indie games. And a good indie dinosaur game, at that.

    • @johngonzalez2495
      @johngonzalez2495 2 года назад +1

      I pray it stays like that. It'd be a terrible shame if this one ended up like the bad indie games.

      @@johngonzalez2495 The team sounds really dedicated and honest.

      @@TheConGaminator sweet. I might hold off on buying the early access for now, but I'm definitely keeping my eye on the project. Video games today are so corporate that their fun and potential are squandered. I see a lot of promise in this one with its system on building and landsculpting. Imagine a god simulator like this. Heck, imagine a sandbox mode or something where you can craft more natural environments to plop the animals in.

    This game has so much potential to it! As a day one Planet Zoo player, I am seeing so many little "quality of life" features they have that I would love to see implemented in Planet Zoo. For instance, the scaling. Such a clever, convenient way to build. Everything is on the fly without needing to use advanced techniques or scroll through countless pieces just to get the finished result. Also, in the beginning of your build with the dome, I loved the fact you could take a window side piece and angle it to make the roof. In Planet Zoo, you are forced to use the pre-determined angled roof pieces to form the top of the dome. This just makes it so much easier. Lots of things here that would be nice in PZ. Hopefully Frontier sees what they are doing and implements similar quality of life features. Which is why I am glad that Prehistoric Kingdom exists. Not only because I wanted a game like this that was like Planet Zoo (there is Jurassic Park Evolution but it isn't the same type of game), but because competition in the space can push studios to be more creative with their features. Which is great for us! Anyway, this game has promise and looks to be off to a great start so far! Great job on your build as well!

    • @EvolutionSquare
      @EvolutionSquare  2 года назад +3

      the scaling edit is actually THE major feature why I enjoy building in PK but not in PZ. I've tried PZ and Coaster before it and got a decent amount of hours, but it was too much of a struggle bus and it felt like I would never be able to catch up to the veterans, having to learn this huge library of objects. PK has "less stuff" but you get more use out of each piece thanks to the scaling. It is brilliant and I think Frontier might have hit themselves in the head when they saw it haha

    • @lttlejordan23
      @lttlejordan23 2 года назад

      @@EvolutionSquare I hear ya there! It took me a long time to get to the point where I could build very detailed, large scale parks the way I wanted. There are so many roundabout techniques that I had to pick up along the way to make building easier. So knowing that PK has these extremely useful features, is definitely one of the things I am looking forward to the most. Also, since I haven't jumped into Prehistoric Kingdom yet, how is the pathing system? Planet games are notorious for having a frustrating pathing system. The amount of time I take trying to lineup simple paths from a habitat to the main path, pisses me off 🤣 I hope Prehistoric Kingdom does it better.

    • @TehFrenchy29
      @TehFrenchy29 2 года назад +1

      @@lttlejordan23 If you've played Jurassic World evolution at all, or even the Tropico games, it's much closer in PK to how it is in those than to the Planet games. Thankfully, because more than anything being added or anything else being altered, changing how paths work in the Planet games is by far my biggest hope for Planet Zoo's future and any possible sequels to Zoo / Coaster.

It would also be great as a Mammoth Steppe enclosure. The Megaloceros and the Steppe bison (Bos priscus) would be great to go with the Mammoths whenever they come to the game.

    Some good news regarding individuality between your dinosaurs: I don’t think it’s a finished mechanic yet, but they showcased variation in pigment with all animals just like real life extant species in one of their dev diaries. Let’s say you have two different animals of the same species/sex with the same skin. One may be brighter, while the other could be darker by random chance. It’s a super neat feature, I can’t wait to see it in-game! If I understand right, the same will be for rare morphs like albino/melanistic mutations.
