just add LOTS of oil, shea butter and vaseline/grease to the scalp and shaft of the hair every other day the week before you take the hair down and the hair will be super soft. There's no water in these products so your hair wont revert or lock up. I do this and I keep my braids in for months and my hair is soft as I take down the braids.
