At some point I know I'll have to do this and also technical rescue training and I think what it really comes down to is courage. I am not a huge fan of heights myself, but I have such a deep passion of becoming a firefighter that I am not going to let it be an obstacle in my way.
That thing looks like a 90 degree angle straight up. I have to do this as well and worry about how I'll do with it, especially at an angle like that holy shit. Pretty cool though at the top it looks like.
I did it and I was scared of heights like I can't even go on roller coasters but once you get to the top and you lean back it's the best feeling ever I can personally say you will always be scared of heights but once you do this it will be a lot easier

I have a very healthy respect for heights myself. And now I an on a tower ladder crew for almost 5 years and I would change it for anything.
Pretty bad with heights and roller coasters in fire school now. This is my only fear! Great job man.
how did it go?
I remember going up an aerial ladder for the first time. Scary at first, but there's nothing quite like knocking that fear down and reaching the top.
I thought we were not roped in and I was scared… ooo we are tied off I got this!
Thank goodness when I did this year's ago it was only 85 feet.
so who holds the rope while the chief takes a pic.... great job though that's a tuff climb... congrats

What did the picture taken at the bucket look like?
I have a heights fear and I was wondering f if you do too? Is it really that bad once you got to the top?
Thanks

What does this prove ?
John D it's a training course to see if you are comfortable with heights because you can't be a firefighter if you can't do this
