Oh. So this is quite possibly the best version of the song I've ever heard. Stunning choices in the harder parts of the end section. It's beautiful. I'm a purist and always had a soft spot for Idina's original version, and some of her more recent tour performances of it. I thoroughly enjoyed Kerry Ellis' original and rockier versions too. But this is undeniable. Wow.

THANK YOU for featuring this performance ! This young lady is the real deal. As someone who has seen her live twice, I can attest that what is coming out of her mouth here is authentic! She has actually been performing this for over 9 years. I've seen some of her other performances of "Defying Gravity " mixed in with videos of "Elphabas on Broadway" compilations and she truly holds her own! I often read comments when she covers Mariah that she is somehow limited to that genre or is trying to "be" that artist. Those of us that know Morissette's body of work (hundreds and hundreds of performances of all genres) are aware what a vastly capable and diverse artist she is and this performance is just one example of this. As we say in our fan circles "Morissette is Morissette" This really is Outstanding! I know everyone has their favorite Broadway Elphabas, (Mine are Kerri Ellis and Rachel Tucker), but should Morissette take on the role someday she'd definitely make my list!
