Morissette definitely has the voice and looks worthy to be casted as a Disney Princess and a Broadway lead. 👏👏👏
If you watch her rendition of "she used to be mine", she has a long introduction where she talks to us about her past experience with musical theater.

cause she casted on the musical theater version of Disney's *Camprock* on *2012* playing the role of Mitchie Torres which originally portrayed by Demi Lovato on movie version.
She's *ORIGINALLY* a theater performer rather than pop artist.
That's her first performing experience.

I've been listening to Morissette for a year and a half. I came across her, on YT, simply because of autoplay. The very first time hearing her, the song happened to be Akin Ka Na Lang and not even knowing this language, I stopped what I was doing, afterwards, to "pick my jaw up from the floor"!! Since that first time, I've listened through a transformation from WOW to THERE ARE NO OTHER WORDS to describe her anymore!! Having listened to a few other artists covering Defying Gravity, I ALWAYS find myself being mesmerized when only SHE is singing the story!! I've been captivated with every cover and every word because with her voice it's as though I'm listening to one of the greatest stories ever told!! She is stunning and I continue to question why this extraordinary young lady is not known all over the world and question when someone is going to finally sit up and take notice of her to make that happen!! I live in the U.S. and Morissette, by far and imho, is more talented than any American pop star on the charts, today!!!

Totally agree. It is so frustrating to see how she is unknown in the US and how many American pop stars don't have nearly the same amount of talent that she has.
@@frilipina3 I'm not gonna lie, I only found out about her because she randomly popped up when I was surfing around on RUclips. Between this, the Fly Like A Bird cover, and the Rise Up acapella version she did with 3rd Avenue, I am now one of her newest fans.

She had relayed that briefly before doing another musical song from "The waitress" titled, "She used to be mine" with the same channel, Stages Sessions. That's how versatile Morissett is. She can sing all types of songs, musical, pop, RNB you name it she can do it. Morissett for me in this generation if not the best she's one of the bests. What a powerful performamance
Morissette is part of the 'The Camprock Musical' she played the part of Demi Lovato that's why she had a background of Musical/Theater Genre.
She has done camp rock the musical in 2012, and did you know she had a cancerous tumour removed when she was 11yrs old, give her any genre and she just blows it out the park, she's the best in the world by a country mile.

you guessed right. in her younger years, morissette was in the philippine's version of "camp rock" and she played demi lovato's part.
She has theatre background which started at 2012. In addition, she actually idolizes Lea Salonga which in fact has been a Disney princess twice (Jasmine and Mulan) and has performed on Broadway (Miss Saigon and Les Misérables).

In her intro to this song Defying Gravity (which you might not have heard), she shared that when she does vocalization SHE SINGS BROADWAY TUNES! Thus, I assume that Morissette does her vocalization daily and, well, she then sings Broadway music daily.

I heard that Morisette was trained by her father? not sure, but I know she did Camp Rock the Musical as the female lead---prior to auditioning in The Voice PH. She has had a lot of mentors, she exponentially grew after her loss in the Voice (edit: hence the name Asia's Phoenix?)
Edit 2.0: Okay, so her father is a rocker. He definitely have taught her, he was named after his favorite singer-Alanis Morissette, and German composer & musician-Johann Sebastian Bach. Johanne Morissette Amon.

She used to be part of Camp Rock musical when she was younger, so she does have a stage musical background. This is probably why she knows how to project and control her tone from the discipline she has been under.
She did Camp Rock here in the Philippines and played Mitchie Torres in a Theater set up. She also did Lea Salongga's Kim role.
Great hypothesis lovely Tyra! Morissette does have a theater background... back in 2012 she played the lead role of a stage version of High School Musical, staged by Repertory Philippines. She played the role popularized by Demi Lovato and at a very young age (16 I suppose) she already possessed the power, clarity and "shimmer". This was prior to her joining The Voice (Philippines).

She explains her Musical Theatre background, and what she learned from it. She's hopeful of doing it again someday. I have heard a few versions of this. Jeremy Jordan and Shoshana Bean. They were also great performances of this song.

I remember taking part in the live chat earlier today while this was airing & mentioning a young girl named Beau Dermott who performed a mind blowing rendition of this on BGT 4 years ago at the tender age of..... (wait for it).... 12!!! Yes, Beau was only 12 when she did it & blew everyone away. Thanks to that performance & now this one by “her majesty”... I now can’t get this song out of my head 🤪🤪🤪 (Surely a good thing huh?). I was walking around at work occasionally bursting out into song (yes, this one, but NOT as great as Mori) & people were looking at me like I’d just “busted out of the rubber room” 🤪🤪😜😜
