there's no hating on this song. it's perfect. Lars intensity on drums, James passion with the singing, Kirk's concentration with solos and Rob just being Rob. Amazing
I'm 61 years old and grew up in southern California. Saw so many concerts I couldn't possibly remember them all from Jethro Tull to Queen to Bruce Springsteen to Deep Purple to Lynyrd Skynyrd to C, S, N & Y but never got to see the greatest live rock band, Metallica. I'm electric wheelchair reliant/housebound now due to MS living on 36 acres somewhere deep in a national forest in Arkansas. Thank you RUclips on behalf of all of us who, for one reason on another, can no longer participate in these musical celebrations called "concerts".
Its not often a band can cover a song so well that you can't even tell they covered it they are so comfortable and so poised as a band its truly a pleasure to listen to.
Absolutely brilliant. Listened to this at least a hundred times and love it just as much every time. This has to be the best covers of any song ever recorded.
After all this years listening to Metallica, it still amazes me how good a band can be. You just know that no other heavy metal band could produce an album like Garage Inc., covering songs that in some cases even surpass the original ones. Bravo Metallica, forever the most talented metal band that ever roamed the earth!
if u ever felt mad. listen. ...... and turn the page. ....i cant tell how often metallica saved my life in several ways. this song is so special for me - and i think, for everyone, that made it through harsh times. this is just a thank you.
HERE ARE THE LYRICS FOR ALL TO ENJOY : On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha You can listen to the engines moanin' Out its one note song You can think about the woman or the girl You knew the night before But your thoughts will soon be wandering The way they always do When you're ridin' sixteen hours And there's nothin' much to do And you don't feel much like riding You just wish the trip was through Here I am, On the road again There I am, Up on the stage There I go, Playin' star again There I go, Turn The Page So you walk into this restaurant Strung out from the road And you feel the eyes upon you As you're shaking off the cold You pretend it doesn't bother you But you just want to explode Yeah, most times you can't hear 'em talk But other times you can All the same old clichés: "Is it woman? Is it man?" And you always seem outnumbered You don't dare make a stand Make your stand Here I am, On the road again There I am, Up on the stage Here I go, Playn' star again There I go, Turn The Page Whoa-oh Out there in the spotlight, you're a million miles away Every ounce of energy, you try and give away As the sweat pours out your body, like the music that you play Later in the evenin' as you lie awake in bed With the echoes of the amplifiers ringin' in your head You smoke the day's last cigarette Rememberin' what she said What she said Yeah Here I am, on the road again There I am, up on the stage Here I go, playn' star again There I go, Turn The Page And there I go, turn that page There I go, yeah There I go, there I go (And I'm gone).......
After doing music with some one for long years , you will have some kinda simultanious magic between you , i'am a guitar player i have it with the singer of our band
I love Bob Seger, his version is most excellent and is powerful but mellow. With that said i give MUCH respect to Metallica for taking such a song and making it their own kick-ass version! Gives me goosebumps! Now i have a mellow cool version and an in your face, bass ridden, kick in the back of the head version depending on my mood. Love Metallica!!
I know that I am supposed to like the Bob Seger version the best, but after I heard the Metallica version they're the best, no doubt about it. The guitar solos, theway the leader sings. And the lead guitarist is most excellent.
pamela smeberg Bob's version is always going to be the best but no one covers this song metal way the way this song is cover by Metallica i give you that.
Dunno why people hate Metallica's new songs.I know, they're not the same style as the ones in the 80's.But it's still Metallica.Even if it is softer,it IS Metal. It's called "metal ballad" (see The Unforgiven) and these days they seem to only enjoy making these kind of music.I don't see a problem.
Saw these guys back in 82 i think it was. Day on the Green '82 @, Oakland Coliseum, CA. Loverboy, Foreigner, Scorpions, Metallica and Iron Maiden. Now THAT was a concert...
James' Voice is the #1 reason (among others) why they are the best of the Big 4 of thrash metal. Dont get me wrong I love Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer too, but metallica are the kings of the big 4 because they have the best combination of instrumental and vocals of the 4

So cool to see & hear Metallica again > I turned my kids onto this group when it's members were about age 16 & my boys were a few years younger...
Absolutely brilliant. Listened to this at least a hundred times and love it just as much every time. This has to be the best covers of any song ever recorded.
I just love it how they give everything they've got, no matter the song, no matter their age. These guys rock!

I love Metallica, and Bob Seger really gave a great song for Metallica to redo. What a performance. Yeah it is a powerful song.
every time I hear and sing along to Seger's original, I still do the "what she said" part. Way to go, James

I love this rocked up version of turn the page.seger rules but metallica just kicks fuckin ass on this tune
This is among a handful of covers that surpass the original. Cash's "Hurt" and Buckley's "Hallelujah" spring to mind immediately as well.

James all in his feels with this song. I love it.
I know that I am supposed to like the Bob Seger version the best, but after I heard the Metallica version they're the best, no doubt about it. The guitar solos, theway the leader sings. And the lead guitarist is most excellent.
apples and oranges: both can bring the vibe. Love Metallica but Seager dwells in the stratosphere!!
Metallica make everything they cover better. Whiskey in the jar, Astronomy... everything
pamela smeberg Bob's version is always going to be the best but no one covers this song metal way the way this song is cover by Metallica i give you that.

Kick ass of course. Awesome cover. I love the hardness of it. "smoked the days last cigarette remembering what she said"...."is that a woman or a man"
This Metallica version of Bob Segar's original is not bad. Given the choice, I think Segar nails the passion in his live version of the classic tune.
Amazing lyrics - fucking some of the best in rock n roll.
amazing...
Metallica forever
Can't wait till there new album comes out.
Late 2015 ;) I hear ya!
