All the Arcade Machines I've worked on 20+ years ago down here in Australia with MCA Joysticks they were always soldered on. the micro switches :)
You would get the machine and then replace and re-solder all the micro switches :)
I've just got Tighe in my head making me all paranoid! LOL
Congrats on getting the sound to work. :-) However, some sound are still not working. The sounds of the enemy ball is incorrect. When it lands on his head it should not sound like that. Also the sound of the ball falling to each cube is incorrect as well. Also, he should swear when the speech bubble displays. Lastly Coily sound when he falls is missing. But Q*bert jumping sounds great.

Oh good catch! I was too excited to notice LOL -- maybe a sound ROM issue?
@@overtimearcade Could be... Did you open up that rom burner yet? You should be able to verify the eproms with it.
I didn't buy one yet! LOL
@@overtimearcade Slacker!
Qbert is one of those games that I’ve missed on Facebook countless times. I can’t seem to get my hands on one😅
It took me a while to find one (two actually) myself! For as many cabinets as Gottlieb produced, they sure do seem uncommon on FB Marketplace and elsewhere!
Awesome video, Charlie! I think you should invest in a welding machine; I might know a good place to find one!
Thanks, Shawn -- you just want to see me injure myself in another video, DON'T YOU?? LOL
Use a large socket to push the large rubber grommet in.
Yep, lots of different ways to do it. This one went it pretty easily though.
I used Chrome Yellow - Formica Laminate Sheets - Gloss Finish Vertical Grade on my Qbert
Thanks -- I just ordered a sample!
It took me years to get a q-bert original joystick at a decent price. I had to do a trade for one. I would just buy the reproduction one on arcade shop.
That's likely what I'll do for the second cabinet -- plus Troy from Troy's Restorations has one of the Arcadeshop reproduction Q*bert joysticks and said it's pretty good.
heya Charlie, some great success in this EP, from what I remember the coil only fires when the game is in play and only when Qbert falls off the side
Thanks -- and THANKS SO MUCH for becoming our newest channel member!!!
And they make an actual tool to work with e clips
I know -- Shawn keeps telling me to buy one! But broken/lost e-clips are a lot cheaper to replace than buying the right tool! LOL
I throw my control panels in a fire and haven't had an issue yet.
I really want to try that technique!
@overtimearcade no warping, once it cools just wipe it clean to bare metal.
I love vertical laminate
This'll be my first time working with laminate -- I'm looking forward to it!
My Qbert only actuates the knocker during gameplay. Another great video man!
Thanks, and thanks for confirming! I heard some people say their knocker fired in attract mode, but that sounds like it’s actually a board problem and not supposed to do that.
My Qbert only activates the knocker during gameplay as well.
